This is a great deal for those who want a PS4. Don't forget to add Battlefield 2042 to the cart and get it for free

    • Game is actually in a decent shape now too

      • How so? Is player base very active?

    • -2

I need to sell my PS4 PRO, I've had it sitting there doing nothing for 2 years. LOL.

      Better list it on FB.

      • I'll take it for 250 lol

        • I have no idea how much they sell for, I assume they go for 250, 300 if you're lucky?

      • +1

hack it. If you haven't updated past 9.2 or something, it's ripe for the picking.

That's my plan. I was sorting out a closet a couple of months ago and happened upon a brand new ps4. Shame it's not a pro but the regular console should do fien

  • +14

Overinflated RRP, could have at least a 1tb model for this price.

    • +2

Almost a ps5 for that money lol

  • +34

I don't even think this was a good deal 4 years ago when the PS4 was current gen.

    I got a PS4 Pro 1TB for $349 from Amazon in November 2019

    • +12

Yep, Black Friday 2019, slim was about $220

    • +1

True then covid hit and everything went up :(

This better not be the new normal

    • $369 Pro 1TB from Big W then for me too. Compared every price to it since.

  • +20

My sarcasm detector isn't perfectly tuned right now. Are you guys trolling the guy who posted the ps5 slim for RRP? If yes, well played 😜

  • +11

unpopular opinion and probably downvotes incoming..

This is actually decent value, the amount of top notch first Party AAA titles (which are like $10 from EB for 90% of them) and still solid 1080p/60fps gaming for super popular esports like fortnite, apex, overwatch and COD etc (without needing to pay for an online sub as the games are free to play)

Personally if you wanted a PS4 slim, buy one on marketplace for $150.. but again. For what you're getting in terms of game library and a solid casual gaming platform. Its very hard to argue with..

Get a second hand PS4 or PS4 Pro. This isn't a great price

      • +2

I've seen how a lot of people treat their consoles, which makes me very reluctant to buy a second hand one. I'd need to get one with a decent warranty to justify the risk, and I can't remember seeing a used PS4 at less than this price from a reputable place for a long time.

I'd agree that pricing isn't great on them considering they've been long replaced by the PS5, but I don't play games enough to justify spending $600 on a console so the PS5 isn't going to be an option.

    • Is overwatch and cod still popular on playstation? I tried joining a game on overwatch and never found a game to join.

      And presume cod = warzone?

      • +2

I don't know about the other one, but my nephew uses his PS4 only for Fortnite, Overwatch 2 and Genshin. There are always lots of players for him.

    • +1

Got my starwars one for $150.
      Limited edition console

      • Via FB marketplace?

        • Yep. Took me a while to find one.
          Good looking console too

  • +1

I know you love video games, and I asked the clerk, "which is the one every boy wants?" | Gasp You got me—.

    • +2

hows that console gonna help your puttin'?

  • +5

Paid $269 for this and Spiderman in 2018. Eventually got a PS4 Pro the following year 😆. Mainly game on my Series X and back then the One X.

  • Don't get confused with PS5 slim

  • +9

Man, I miss this design. Simple, yet elegant.

  • +6

Man these things are too slow to be spending $300 on in 2023.

    • I have PS4 Pro and it has been really slow lately. Bought PS5 from black friday ebay deal.

      • Performance of the console got worse with time?

        • Games get heavier

  • +1

    $424

  • +1

I paid this much in early 2018

  • +1

Heavily discounted as I bet a new gen is right around the corner /s

  • +1

expired, price when in checkout shows $405.83

  • +1

Good deal of it comes with fw 9.00 or lower..

    Yarrrrr

    • Still better off with a low fw Pro

  • +4

Crazy I paid $200 almost 4 years ago for boxing day!

    • +1

Same. This is not a deal.

    • +2

And how exactly am I meant to time travel to get that deal? I've been looking for a PS4 for months and haven't seen a new one anywhere near this price.

4 years ago the PS4 was hugely popular and so triggered competition between stores selling them. There's very little demand for them now so you don't get the same level of discounting.

    • Crazy I paid $200 almost 4 years ago for boxing day!

Ah yes, I remember 4 years ago. I wasn’t paying 6.4% interest on my mortgage, my weekly food bill was nearly half, and there wasn’t a 12 - 18 month for a new Toyota Camry which also cost $8k less than today. 4 years ago…

  • +1

Im a sony fanboy but just get an xbox series s off marketplace for $150 like I did

    • my ps4 was 160 last yr i got it lol

  • +3

This deal on Amazon for a PS4 Pro was probably the best PlayStation deal ever. Came with a Fortnite code that sold for $200ish which covered more than half the cost of the console.

Then I sold the console itself few months before the PS5 came out for $450. Much profit!

  • +2

    Now showing $424.

    • There's a bundle with the Battlefield game for $317.

      • +1

Yeah this one. It comes bundled with Battlefield 2042. So the game is $19 is comparing to how much the console itself was just going for by itself.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/PlayStation-500GB-Console-Black-Ba…

$19 is exactly the price that the game itself is going for on Amazon. How cunning of Amazon.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/Electronic-Arts-Battlefield-2042-P…

So my guess is since the console itself was just going for $298. That the game itself is not exactly free on this console bundle unlike what Amazon is making it out to be. They've actually factored in the price of the Battlefield 2042 game into the console bundle under the disguise of a free bundled game. That's deceptive.

        • that game was $5 yesterday and no one wants it.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/816429

          • @colinsi: That's right. $5 has been the going rate lately for the game on PS4.

Heck it's $5 at EB Games right now, if you can actually find any stock on C&C.

            https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/ps4/266686-battlefield-20…

Yes it just goes to show how cunning Amazon can be. Bundling a game in a console bundle under the disguise of being free in the bundle but it's really not. It says so on the Battlefield 2042 PS4 web page under the promotion. Free, my ass!.

            "Free 2042 - PlayStation 4 Physical Copy
Buy a Select PlayStation 4 Console during the event period and receive a free copy of Battlefield 2042 PS4 Standard Edition (Physical Copy)."

When they just sold the console itself for $298. $298 + $19 (listed price of Battlefield 2042 at the moment) = $317. That proves that the claim of a free copy of Battlefield 2042 in the console bundle is nothing but a lie. You're paying for it in the console bundle total price. So you're basically getting nothing for free. Typical deceptive marketing.

            • @hollykryten: Calm down…

The promotion has been running for 3 weeks now, and the console has been $424 that entire time - until very briefly today. The bundle deal is now $419.

Amazon pricing is dynamic. They're obviously not going through all this trouble and deliberately manipulating prices over a 3 week period in order to shift a couple of PS4 Battlefield 2042 copies.

              • @callum9999: ok i guess it's just a huge coincidence that the price of the console it went for today + $19 happens to equal to exactly $317.

                • @hollykryten: For what, an hour or two?

And what exactly is that meant to prove anyway?

If you genuinely think that a multi-billion dollar multinational company spent three weeks plotting a scheme to make an Australian PS4 bundle deal potentially look slightly better than it was for an hour then I really don't know what to say to you…

  • +1

    This belongs in a museum.

    • +3

I still have my PS3. Works well. I boot it up now and again for Marvel vs. Capcom.

      • +1

PS3 Slim 160GB was my second ever game console (first was a Sega Megadrive). It's a pity that i sold it years ago due to being broke at the time and needing some money. I loved that console.

      • Marvel vs. Capcom .. games like that never get old :) i used to play the emulated Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on a projector with friends all the time and at that time (2008) it was a 10+ year old Arcade game

        • My nephews and nieces kick the 💩 out or me in Smash. I get my revenge on Capcom fighting games.

  • There hasn't been a PS4 console deal since pre-covid.

  • This is no deal… It's not even a pro model. How crazy things are nowadays

  • I bought this for cheaper than this like 5 years ago lmao

  • Any deals on PS3?
