  • I liked this one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187874?page=4

The delivery driver was having the worst week.

The coke lasted me a while!

  • $50 adult mountain bike with the purchase of a Subway sandwich was another good one. Bike took forever to turn up and delivery driver had no idea why the bikes were so popular.

  • I would say for me it was the EY fare I got syd-vie for seven of us for around $2000 . I think we got about 90,000 velocity points for that trip as well

My friends, the year was 2011. HP released the infamous Touchpad which lasted a little more than a month before they scrapped it.

HN were offloading these for $99!

    Good times

My best deal on OzBargain was naturally finding this site in 2016. It has changed the way I shop, browse and find out the most useless financial advice on how to buy a Mercedes. If someone asked me if I was addicted to anything I would say OzBargain. If I had to research an item, I’m adding OzBargain at the end of the search bar to see if you guys already reviewed or see when is the best price. Thank you OzBargain and all the users! Thank you for wasting my time :)

  • $139 Logitech G27 from Dicksmith. Eventually got one at Dicksmith Rockdale. The deal was so good, people thought it was April's fools, until receipts popping up as proof. The staff couldn't believe it.

    • I think that would have been around the time the private equity owners of Dick Smith were selling everything at a loss as part of an accounting trick.

  • +1

Not that crazy, but a Jetstar return for free sale for our family holiday next year. I was not prepared to pay $6-8k for our family of 4 to fly to Japan, but at $1,622 for all of us return, made the holiday possible.

  • $40 hose reels from Masters. I bought 2 for me and 1 for a present. My family still ask me if I can get any more.

  • I've received over $5000 from Webull so far

  • iSelect free $300 Visa gift card back in 2015 for not being able to offer a better deal than my health insurance policy at the time.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/191985

  • Probably the Coles Mastercard price protection. The price savings claims have been immense

    • What kind of items are going down in price at the moment?

      • +1

Everything goes on sale. Macbook Pros, iPhones, LG OLED TVs, PS5 games, you name it.

  • +3

Citibank signature cc fee free for life
Citibank Pay-all. Thanks for free money :)
Now just going to wait and see how long these will continue since NAB has taken over

Also discounted Coles prepaid mastercards. Although this has became a bit of an unhealthy obsession

    • they still have pay all right? but it costs to get access to the geature?

      • Yep still ongoing for now. Free for people who have set them up prior.

        • Is this the Citi PayAll that you're talking about ?
          https://www1.citibank.com.au/offers-benefits/PayAll1

          • +1

@whyisave: Yes but the transaction fee makes it not worthwhile anymore.

            • @magster: I'm a Citi customer & I remember I received that PayAll Email,
but I completely ignored it, as I wasn't keen on setting up new accounts, subscription, etc. etc…
….and when I read today, that this was "free money", it piqued my interest to revisit that old Email.

    • Citibank Pay-all. Thanks for free money :)

What’s that, could you link me to the deal to that to read up on it?

However it’s no longer free to set up.
In short, for people who had set up earlier on, it’s been free $175 worth of points per month.

        • Wow, can’t believe I missed this! Congrats to all who are still on it!

    • cc fee free for life

      How?

Back like 6-7 years ago, I snagged a pod coffee machine, I can't remember the exact numbers but it was something like this:

    • eBay Store Sale code; stacked with
    • Big Box Retailer (with eBay store)'s Sale Price on sale (didn't jack it for the eBay store sale); stacked with
    • Cashrewards Cashback (as it had it back then with higher rate on certain categories); stacked with
    • Manufacturer Cashback promo; stacked with
    • Bonus credit card awards points; plus
    • It came with free coffee pods

which effectively meant a ~$200 machine cost me ~$9 except that it also came with free coffee I would otherwise have had to buy worth at least $10 so essentially I got paid to have a pod coffee machine delivered with my coffee!

    • +1

The rise of the coffee pod. You couldn't get people to buy pods without buying the coffee machine to put those pods in, so they practically gave away the machine to enable people to buy pods. Companies (Lavazza/Nescafe) are still giving away their cheapo machines with a bundle of pods, but it's not as common anymore

  • Can't decide between these 2:
    - Free logitech credit ($250 if I remember correctly) for just opening a business account
    - Samsung s21 deal. With trade in of our old phones the cost was $250 brand new right when released! Got the deal 5x for the whole family and still using them now!

    • Was it logitech or Lenovo? I remember the Lenovo deal. What a bargain!

  • +2

Probably the Motorola G82 $200 deal.

  • Free large chips delivered, 100% off is a pretty good deal IMO.

I ordered mine then just gave it to the delivery driver. I both tickled my ozbargain itch whilst doing my good deed of the day at the same time.

  • +3

on ozbargain it was the free samsung s10e for my mom. actually got paid 125 on top of that.

off ozbargain i found an exploit with one of the $10 movie ticket deals in which you spam the f5 key after submitting your details and printing thousands of thousands of tickets. I watched so many movies that year. tried it again later and it didnt work but still have heaps of tickets to go through

  • This one. Was able to get 2.

  • maybe the Bose QC45 SE I ordered recently - retail like $4-500, I think got this time for about $250 - ordered two as a nice replacement for our aging QC35s

  • +1

iPhone 12 mini deal with amaysim

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/755527

Used the phone until now and sold it with $200 profit last week.

    • +1

True, this might be mine as well. INSANE value

  • I've had so many I can barely remember… Here's a few that come to mind.
    * Karcher S4 Sweeper $12.95 (RRP $150) @ Bunnings
    * Optus A8 4G Samsung Tablet + 30GB monthly data $150 total. Bought 4 of these, still going strong for all the kids today.
    * Hello Fresh free box ($250?). Can't find this deal, I was one of the lucky ones who got it before they revoked and cancelled a heap of orders. Was good dinner for 2 weeks!
    * Kogan kids bike $19 These have lasted well. Similar bikes elsewhere now minimum of $129 each! For the hours and hours (and hours!) of entertainment they've given my kids, they're probably the cheapest entertainment I've ever bought.

  • +1

2019 - Mavic 2 zoom price error from Bunnings.. Got like x2 $250 gift card compensation after ordering from 2 different accounts!

  • $5 of free Bitcoin lite or whatever for creating an account. Ended up hundreds of dollars, maybe even over $1000 before the crash?

    • Lucky you pulled it out

      • I think I pulled most of it out and left $50 or something and that kept growing, but I forgot about it and have no idea what it is now. Should make the effort to look at the wallet and see.

  • The time I got 2 Park Tool professional travel and event kits (rrp $1300 each) for free. Even turned a profit selling the pieces I didn’t use.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9476744/redir

  • Spider-Man 2 for $20 a few weeks back. Before that, 10 X 10m cat 5e/cat 6 Ethernet cables for $1 each

  • The samsung galaxy Tab deal through Optus. The total amount paid after 12 months was $140ish and i ended up selling it for $200+.

  • +1

Those Samsung code stacking deals were awesome.

  • 10 years ago, the printing paper deal….

  • This was the deal that got me hooked onto Ozbargain. Stanley Tool Kit with Pliers 132-Piece $149.99 (Was $459) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Supercheap Auto - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/764443 and then to sweeten the deal - 15% off paying by Zip on eBay option - $127.49(ebay.com.au)
I was eyeing that toolset for ages and was ready to part with $459. Saving $331.51!

  • The 80v victa garden equipment at $50 a piece
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/251707
i got multiple batteries / chargers. line trimmer, blower. chainsaw. etc

oh and the chainsaw had a recall years later, that was replaced with a new 82v version and new battery. on sold that as well.

oh and the $9 dell wireless printer scanners delivered, where most got 2 of them sent out
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73273

  • got a lot of great deals, can't really pin point one. unfortunately, i purchased so much crap because they were amazing deals.

  • +1

I am about to finish an MBA based on a post I saw on OZ Bargain … I thought I would save a couple of dollars from this site, but never envisioned such a big move.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/702947

  • S23 Ultra for about $823 from Samsung.

  • +3

$1 Slazenger t-shirt and shorts from a while back

    • I remember that one. Everyone got them for Christmas that year

  • Mine would have to be a DJI drone posted at Bunnings for like $250 or something - Bunnings didn't honor the price, but they did refund the $250 AND give $250 gift cards to everyone that purchased a drone. So effectively got a $250 Bunnings GC for free.

    • Bunnings didn't honor the price

      Bunnings did honour the price,
but only to a handful of people.

  • That $100 dollar off your Uber order. Had a few phone numbers at that point, and probably got 500 bucks of free food, whilst helping the local businesses out. Lets GO!

  • Getting newly released Sifu for 80 gold points. It was a price error at the Argentina store.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/735874

Still on my pile 'o shame, but it's on the short list!

  • S21 Plus for $450 (at the time of release).

  • +2

Not Ozbargain, but this is by far my best bargain:
I received an email from the lawyer of a late investment banker in Lagos who needed help getting $172M out of the country and my cut will be 20% or $34.4M! All I had to do was pay the transaction fees of $7300 (a bit stage that it had to be in Apple gift cards, but apparently that's the currency over there).

I transferred it two days ago and I'm now awaiting the funds. It's a bit odd that I haven't heard from the lawyer, but I guess he's busy doing the transfers.

    • That's a return of over 471,000% Sweet!

  • +1

The one I still use regularly is the Citibank Premier card fee free for life. Got that about 10 years ago.

    • It used to be called the Citibank Signature Visa card.
Then, it became the Premier Visa card,
      and now it's Premier Mastercard.

  • Getting paid $18 for a free coffee machine was a nice one.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/618404

  • My best deal was scoring flights return Melb to London on Emirates for $998. Qantas had a pricing error which meant no tax was added to the ticket cost. This happened back on 1 July 2015.

  • Horizon Zero Dawn for $11 on release after JB Hi-Fi made a mistake of reducing the PS Plus subscription to 50% instead of 25%.

Also google home nest mini for $19 each.

  • eBay Plus when it first started gave out free Apple Airpods 2. I got a pair, my dad got one and so did the wife. Free.

  • Anyone remember years back Microsoft had some free 'rewards points' offer, which could be traded in for free Dominos pizzas? I think I got about 5 or so that week…

  • apple powerbeats pro from jbhifi for 99 dollars like 2 years ago, their price was $379 back than. i think its the same price today if you wana buy it from apple or jbhifi

  • +1

  • After browsing Ozbargain for a few hours, I went to the lolly shop and bought 20 cents worth of mixed lollies.

    • did you return a 1 litre glass Coke bottle to get the 20c?
      .

  • +1

The Jacob's creek mystery flight deal in 2012:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85335

We used this for our honeymoon! Cheapest honeymoon ever (2 X Perth to Melb return with accommodation in the city for 2 nights). They let us extend our stay for a small fee & LOTS of wine!

  • $350 Weber pulse 1000. Might have been others but that one sticks out to me.

  • -1

    Vitamix A2500i for $119.00 RRP $1399 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/823288
