  • Hey Luke, Any b450 itx mobos available?

    • +5

End of life sadly. Some B550s around but hardly any

      • -1

Any decent deals on those b550s? If you've got any

  • +2

interesting, is Leaper your own white-labelled brand?

    • +7

      It is yep

      • Is stock out of order, I can't buy says out of stock.

  • +2

Assume this would run most currently released games at medium to high visuals?

    • -3

      Assume this would

      Never assume !!!

    • +1

usually just youtubing the cpu and gpu plus "benchmark" will get you at least some kind of idea
      E.g. like this one

      • +1

many of these videos are faked now. they write MSI afterburner text to fake the hardware config and results, ballparking it, and post video en masse.
GPU review (not just benchmark) channels like hardware unboxed give more trustworthy result. so is ballparking it yourself with Techpowerup performance estimate + known game performance characteristics (e.g. hogwarts legacy on release had high vram req, etc)

    • +1

Impossible to say that without knowing what res you intend (4k? 1080p?), and whether you consider 30 FPS or even 60 FPS unacceptable.

Even then, given how poorly optimised some popular games are, you just can't make a general statement like that sadly.

You will definitely be able to play all current games with this, and it will always look great (as long as your standard for "great" isn't 4k/ultra/120FPS in every game).

      • "as long as your standard for "great" isn't 4k/ultra/120FPS in every game" or any game. 1440p medium30fps is too much for this setup.

        • You're looking at better FPS than that in well-optimised/non-intensive eSports games - which is more than half of the top 10 most played games (Fortnite, LoL, CS2, Valorant, Overwatch, RocketLeague, etc).

Those of us more interested in intensive/unoptimised games like TLOU are a minority, even if we are more likely to participate in online discussion about GPUs like this.

          • @ItsMeAgro: well then your gtx970 / rx480 should do you for another couple of years then hey.

    • 1080p medium. -45fps
High -25/30fps. I recon ,obviously game dependant

You don't get decent upscaling with radeon

  • How big is the case?

    • +6

Standing just 30cm tall, 39cm deep and 26.5cm wide, the Leaper Edge is an aluminium ITX case that ships with two side panels for the case's right side - aerated for maxium airflow, or tempered glass.

      • +2

So about 30L. Not particularly small.

        • Given the price of itx mobo, it's probably just as cheap to simply get a smaller case and transplant this to it.

That being said, given that the ps15 pro is only a bit bigger and would accept mostly standard parts (psu are the smallest variant), it's probably a better time to get that.

      • +3

Standing just 30cm tall, 39cm deep and 26.5cm wide, that does not make sense, visually from the image of the case height and the width, it cannot be 26.5cm wide?

      • +2

No way is the case pictured 26.5cm wide

  • +2

This or the 3060 build the other day? Size not a factor

    • +5

Personally, I'd go for the 3060. Performance is very similar now, but:

      • more vram means more capable with future games / more detailed textures
      • more flexibility with upgrades in future (space for an extra 2.5" SSD, no restrictions on videocard size etc)
      • Plus dlss let's you pull more frames with same apparent visual fidelity

    • +3

If you are after AI/LLM 3060 would be better.

  • +1

Why 750 Watt PSU, why not something smaller and better quality?

    • +1

      Because it's cheap.
Probably worth the upgrade to 650w bronze. I'm sure the failure rate isn't actually that high but plenty of stories here of blown up Allied 750w power supplies, and an extra $39 is reasonable for peace of mind.

      • +2

If I'm spending $800 on a build, I'd spend $39 more to ensure better quality PSU.

  • +1

Discount code doesn't appear to be working - anyone else tried?

    • +2

      Sub Total
      $999.00

      Discount
      $200.00

      Total
      $799.00

      works here.

    • I have the same issue. After I write the code and click ''Update'' nothing happens. I have tried different browsers on both my PC and mobile. Weird…

      • Okay I am dumb. Code is 12400F-7600-JAN not 12400F-7600-ITX lol

  • +7

Always good to see budget builds on here

  • +16

love the itx builds, not many prebuilders out there doing them

  • +11

Not my cup of tea specs wise but upvote for the ITX build

  • +3

    Awesome deal

  • +1

I can't find this mobo on BIOSTAR's website. All I can find is this one: https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=1…

    or this one: https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=1…

    No silver racing.

  • Are we able to upgrade GPU? Cheers

  • Support PCIe 5.0 for GPU and M.2 ?

  • +2

Alright. This seems like just what I need. I don't play that many of games. Just a few games that I play since years for really long sessions. As long as PSU doesn't blow up and cpu doesn't melt and it can stay alive for 2 years at most, this seems like a good deal.

  • +1

Stupid question but it’s Friday so bah!

Seeings it’s gonna be around the same price with monitor

This or a Steam Deck OLED / Legion Go - MSI Claw?

Just after playing games that are not available on Consoles

    • +4

You can't whip this out on a train or bus (easily)… a SD you obviously can. Realistically never going to be playing on the go? Then this PC by a mile.

    • -6

So Steam Deck is a stream right?
You know what this does to online gaming, the lag for me would be unacceptable.

      • +2

No, the Steam Deck is not a cloud gaming device. Neither is the ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion Go.

        • -6

So I just checked the specs, 720P screen?
PC is what you want, a phone should keep people occupied whilst out and about.
Using one of these in public just makes you a target for theft.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: Tbf a phone won't play desktop games like the Steam Deck can (not to mention the fancy AAA games the more expensive Legion Go and Ally can run)

But yes I agree it's definitely a target for theft

    • Both.

I just my portable devices the most, I can go for weeks without turning my pc on. I also work with my portable device as well, which I dock to my pc (I daily drive the gpd win max 2).

But on the very rare occasions, I do want to play fps games at 165hz. That's when my pc comes in.

  • +3

Nice build for non-intensive working/gaming PC. Got one. Thx Techfast!

  • Does this case have enough space for 3 120mm fans?

  • This or Ryzen 5 7500F + B650M + RTX 4060 8G with Jonsbo case for $300 odd more?
    Jonsbo case is 10cm taller.

    • I would go the Jonsbo for only 300 odd more. Should be noticeably faster and an actual upgrade path.

    • Jonsbo v11!

  • Any chance of this w/out GPU and regular 12400? For a plex server

    • If you don't need a GPU then buy one of the ex-corporate Dell/HP Small/Micro form factor machines.

      • Any that can fit 2x 2.5”HDD and has intel 770 igpu. That’s why this interested me

  • This or https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/825503.
After a budget gaming pc. Thanks.

    • Definitely a 4060. This PC is SFF and good for anyone who doesn't have good space real estate.

  • +2

Can i order without the gpu?

      • Same here, I already have a gpu I can repurpose.

  • Hey, is it possible to just buy the pc case ?

  • if you get the linux OS can you switch to windows?

    • +2

You just format the drive and install Windows yourself. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/learning-center/wind…

you will be given the option to format the drive when you install Win11.

    • Yes. You can also create a separate partition for Windows and have a dual boot setup.

At least you could last time I built a system, which is a while ago now, but I don't think this would have changed.

  • -7

Thanks but I have an i9 & RTX 4090, 64GB of random access memory build so probably won't need this.

  • Hi, are all the parts new or could some parts be, I don't know, demos?

I'm not sure if this has been asked before. Thanks.

  • Brilliant! More SFF/ITX deals please @luketechfast

  • Can this run 2 4k monitors smoothly?

  • is the standard cooling fan enough for games like valorant csgo league of legends?

  • Ordered one, thanks for the post.

  • 6700xt version please!

  • Any chance for 7800xt build soon?

  • Ordered the Boxing Day i9 4090 system fully optioned @ $5k. Reached out to them to discuss the possibility of upgrading some of the components further (at my additional cost of course). After complete lack of communication for days and days at a time, I was informed no modifications or cancellations were possible because components were already ordered and staff scheduled to complete the build. They refused to provide a phone number or call me. Disappointed, but accepting, I ordered the MSI Thunderbolt expansion card compatible with the motherboard in this deal. After being assured it was due to ship imminently, over a week later I received an email stating they don’t even have the motherboard they sold me a month ago, and can’t even provide an ETA for when they will. I will be lodging a dispute with my credit card company. Purchase at your own risk, you’ve been warned.

    Full email transcript for transparency:

    Me - 3rd of Jan

    Hey guys,

Would it possibly be too late to cancel this order by any chance?

    TechFast - 4th of Jan

    Hi Dan,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Unfortunately, we are not able to simply cancel your order at this stage.

Upon receiving an order, we immediately begin processing the order. As every PC we sell is customisable (or made-to-order), this includes ordering stock, committing staffing resources, administrative work, and other related procedures, all of which represent a cost to our business. Therefore once an order is placed we cannot accept a cancellation and offer a full refund, be it for change of mind or any other reason, without cost.
Cancellations can be handled in two ways:
    1) Order cancelled and refund issued for 75% of the total cost, 20% will be provided in the form a one time use coupon and 5% will be kept by us to cover the fees associated.
    2) Order cancelled and a credit for the full amount provided, in the form of a coupon code to use on our website at any other time. This can be used in one full amount or multiple partial amounts.

Please let me know your thoughts on this, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Me - 4th of Jan

Cheers for the quick reply Caleb!

Any chance you guys could match this deal instead?

    \<snipped out of respect \/\>

I don’t care so much about the case or RGB. But the better RAM, mobo and GFX card.

Do you guys have a phone number that I could call for a chat?

    Me - 5th of Jan

    Hey guys,

Just following up on this one. Would love to sort this out one way or another :)

    TechFast - 5th of Jan

    Hi Dan,

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

Unfortunately, we don't have an active phone line at the moment.

We aren't able to do any price matching sorry, these systems are already quite heavily discounted.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Me - 5th of Jan

No probs man, I’m sure you guys are busy!

Yeah I understand guys, it’s ok if you guys are more expensive, but are you able to do a similar build with ASUS Strix mobo, GFX and faster RAM? Happy to pay more than PCCG if it’s a fair price :)

    TechFast - 12th of Jan @ 7:30PM (a full week later)

    Hi Dan,

Unfortunately, we don't have a phone line at this time and all inquiries are handled via email at the moment.

We aren't really able to deviate from the original configuration aside from the upgrades listed on the options in the build page.

We don't really do custom builds and all stock is based on what is available at the time, and what is mentioned on the ozbargain page.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Me - 13th of Jan

    When will it arrive approximately?

TechFast - 15th of Jan (2 days later)

    Hi Dan,

It should be shipping out this week and will likely arrive to you early-mid next week.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

TechFast - 23rd of Jan (over a week later)

    Good afternoon Dan,

I hope this email finds you well.

We are just reaching out in regard to your boxing day order placed with us.

Firstly, we would like to thank you for your patience during this busy period, and particularly after facing these delays on your order.

An update on where we are currently at with these orders. Unfortunately, these delays experienced are due to an issue with our shipment of the MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI motherboards offered with these builds. Due to circumstances outside of our control, the shipment has been delayed to us and is expected to arrive to us some time early next week.

We have been able to source an alternative motherboard, the Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX which we are expecting to receive tomorrow. If you would be happy to swap to this alternative, we can process your order with the utmost priority upon receiving the shipment of motherboards.

If you would prefer to stick with the MSI motherboard, we will process your order ASAP as soon as they arrive to us.

Due to this delay, we will be processing a refund of $50 for your order for the inconvenience.

Please let me know your thoughts on this, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

And again, thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Me - Jan 23rd @ 9:18pm

    Guys,

This whole process has been an absolute farce. I asked to cancel the order. After an absurd back and forth via email, and flat refusal to even call me, you said it couldn’t be done because you had already ordered the components and scheduled staff to build it. Then what, a month later, after I’ve already purchased an MSI thunderbolt 4 expansion card for a PC you’ve forced me to proceed with, now you’re telling me you indeed dont have stock of the motherboard and can’t even give an ETA for when you will.

At my earliest convenience I will be lodging a dispute with American Express. This is unacceptable. At this point the alternate deal I wanted to buy is now gone. So thanks for that too. Do better.

I read the whole email chain, and I'm sorry, but the seller has held up their part of the deal - you wanted to swap parts AFTER you placed an order for a specific build.

They explained to you that they can't swap out parts because they start building the PC as soon as they get the order.

I think it's unreasonable for you to expect them to swap parts for you after they have already open the packages of individual (and in your case very expensive) component.

If they did what you asked they would probably be hundreds or thousands of dollars out of pocket with "used" parts they couldn't resell or use in another build (especially if these builds are very specific as to parts used as for example here on OzBargain.

I fully understand your disappointment of not getting that ideal build you dreamed of, but this is (to me) a change of mind after purchase (after opening the parts) and I don't think any other retailer would be able to resolve it to your satisfaction either (unless they were willing to re-use parts from other builds but even then I doubt it).

Sorry mate, I think you'll just have to chalk this up to experience, and research your purchases more thoroughly in the future.

      • Except they don’t even have the parts let alone had opened them/started the build, and were in the end, a month later, themselves proposing to swap the one part for which I’d purchased separately a ThunderBolt controller for. And I certainly didn't expect, I just politely asked if it was a possibility.

        Alas Update:

Just got a call from Caleb. The current ETA for the original MSI board is next Monday, so the completed system should hopefully arrive to me in the next 1-2 weeks. Assuming that’s what plays out, then fair enough, these things happen.

He also explained they order the parts in bulk on consignment and as such don’t have standing stock of other parts that can be substituted.

        Appreciate the call Caleb 👍.

  • damn sold out! :(

  • When is more stock coming in? Should have pulled the trigger last week!
