@Yorkshire-Man: Because for computer use, there's a whole bunch of things permanently in the same place on the screen - taskbar, top menu bar, etc. etc. If you're ever going to get burn-in, this is what's going to cause it.

      • All my monitors are multi-use and I don't want to have to even think about burnin. Non-OLED still look good enough to me.

    Go to Deal
    Coupon Code: FEBSAVE

The my phone's deal last week for $1099 has set a healthy trend of price reductions which are enhanced with eBay coupons!

This is for those in the "sub $1000" gang that can't wait for exchange rates to recover or don't have the opportunity to get it via Japan/Korea during their travels.

This is because AU will likely only have grey market sellers for the foreseeable future. After conversions of retail price, shipping, overheads of stores/eBay fees etc, there isn't really much margin left.

I would just keep waiting, it's going to crack $1k before too long, seems to be $50 cheaper every fortnight.

If you're getting one, I would go Oled, I have the 512 etched glass, and it's great too, but nothing beats Oled.

@meong: Two storage models will be available: 512 GB and 1 TB. The 512GB model will be priced at 84,800 yen (including tax) and the 1TB model at 99,800 yen (including tax).

      • +3

I'm tempted too but is it worth the warranty drama? Unless you speak Japanese and are willing to ship back..

        • 85,000 Japanese Yen equals 871.57 Australian Dollar.

      • +1

Japan is a good place to try out handhelds in person. I was in a store in Akihabara that had the $700 ONEXPLAYER models, Steam Deck and ASUS ROGs for people to try. Heaps of stores have them. Even the big stores BIC and Yodobashi.

    • +6

FYI don't get FOMO'd by the "available qty". I've seen it go down from 5 to 4 then back up to 5. I imagine there is some third party system they're using to increase the stock qty by 1 each time someone orders.

    • Whats the warrenty like with Dick Smith? I imagine it'd be worse than dealing directly with kogan

      • Does not compute. No such thing…

      • Kogan owns DickSmith isn't it? Would be the same experience.

        • +1

Kogan do own Dick Smith, but my (untested) suspicion is that Kogan care less about their sub brand's reputation than their core brand. Like Qantas and Jetstar or Commonwealth Bank and Bank West.

If that's the case, the already difficult warranty process that you get with Kogan becomes even harder.

It's only rated to 12mm holes in masonry, which isn't much. Unless you're drilling small holes into brick I'd look at something with a bit more grunt - I'm guessing old concrete would not be its friend.

    • Not the brushless version but $70 is good if people don't have a rotary hammer already.

      • I have a corded rotary hammer. These days, I would rather spend 15 mins drilling 2holes into a wall with a driver with a hammer function than pulling out the powerful but heavy and chunky rotary hammer. A battery powered little drill like this will be a much welcomed purchase.

        • I have a double brick house and I've used my cordless SDS drill probably hundreds of times. For me it's 100% been worth the effort. I have a corded one for really big jobs, but my 18V one is pretty strong, it can handle most things.

This one would do the job for things like bricks, but I feel if you're doing multiple holes it would overheat/burn out pretty easily.

    • +4

Damn, I am hanging out for an impact wrench deal and got excited seeing this pop up.. I swear bunnings stores go rogue with the ozito stuff and random stores will have deals at random times.

  • Merged from BeyerDynamic DT770 PRO Closed Reference Studio Headphones (32ohms) $199 + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C/ mVIP) @ Mwave
    Go to Deal

BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro 32 ohm audiophile headphones available for $199 at MWave. I already have Bose QC SE. Can they be used for recording/editing voice overs or should I go for DT 770 Pro? Will they make a difference worth $199?

    • -1

These headphones are terrible do not buy. Too bright and too much bass at same time

      • What do you suggest for recording voice over?

        • AKG K371 or MDR 7506

      • +1

I believe you are thinking of the 880's.

The 770's are pretty damn neutral and excellent headphones.

        • You're completely wrong. The DT880 are much more neutral compared to the 770. The 770 is far, far from neutral.

      • +1

This. Pad wear helps a little to get things a bit more neutral but you're still getting some bass bloat and the treble peaks are a bit overboard. This would be better value at $120ish, which it has been at before.

For those looking for something today, I would suggest the Sony MDR-7506 import on Amazon (currently $136), then pairing that with something like the Yaxi pads sold for it.

    • This is not a good price for them- that said these will be much better than your bose for general use.
I personally prefer open-back headphones for the sound stage.

      • I dont have any experience as i am just going to start but looking at reviews, i guess open back will have sound leak while monitoring?

        • +1

I mean if you're monitoring vocals/speech, you would prefer open back anyway. It's hilarious how many streamers and podcasters turn on software monitoring or use their hardware's monitor for that purpose, while using some of the worst and least comfortable headphones you'll see.

Even in a group recording environment, sound leakage isn't going to be an issue unless someone actually puts their headphone cup towards a mic.

  • Merged from Roborock S8+ (Black) $1,424.25 C&C Only @ Godfreys
    Go to Deal

Not for everyone but I was keen on the S8+.

I didn’t want a model which washes the mop, and fills the water tank etc.

Also the Q versions of Roborocks don’t have the best mopping ability (other than the Q Revo that is).

I managed to find one final stock at Auburn even though online it was saying no stock. So you may have to call around.

Could not find the S8+ anywhere else.

    • pretty much sold out, only store that has it is apparent Godfreys Port Macquarie. Goddfreys is is closing down too so don't expect more stock.

    • typed in a dozen different postcodes around australia and only had a few stores claiming stock

      • +4

Best to call, the online tool is not super reliable.

EDIT: not sure why I got the neg vote for this. For me no stock was showing anywhere. I called the Auburn store and they had 1 brand new in stock. Picked it up yesterday. That’s why I said best to call some local stores to check stock availability rather than purely relying on their online stock locator.

    • If you want your robot to mow down the dust bunnies under furniture, check clearance heights beneath furniture before you buy. The S8 height is 9.65cm, so you'll need more space beneath the dust bunny havens you want it to clean. Roomba is slimmer. Eufy 11S slim @ 7.25cm is the slimmest I know of. If you just miss the clearance height, furniture casters may help.
