Nice, I've watched this the last two years…. So much better.

Also nice that the NFL have a dedicated AU/NZ commentary if that is what you are after

    • +9

So we can compare its slow pace to cricket?

      • +9

nooo, Cricket is like watching a fast paced game of rugby Sevens compared to NFL.

        • +4

Everyone just tunes in for the commercials anyway

          • +1

@Jerruh: the couple of mins each hour where they are actually doing something on the field "can" be interesting. Worst mistakes I ever made in the US. Going to a Basketball game, going to a NFL game and going to a baseball game. Basketball was great to watch but the seating was so cramped it made an economy seat on a plane look spacious, NFL and baseball were the longest most boring events I have ever been too, was so excited before attending.

            • +7

@gromit: Probably why people tailgate - makes the game more interesting when you're absolutely plastered

            • +4

              @gromit: you missed ice hockey

              • @CptnObvious: yeah I actually had tickets to ice hockey in Vancouver, but I got the flu the day before so was too sick to go.

            • +1

@gromit: I'd love to get to an NBA game some day just to have had the experience.

Not the same but I have no regrets about going to an NHL game while I was in Canada. Didn't know much before going, but quickly got into watching games in bars and attending some minor league matches with locals. Cultural immersion and whathavnot.

              • +1

@JBxrm: Did you witness any brawls between hockey players? Not interested in hockey but I'm definitely interested in that lol

            • @gromit: It's a great strategic game if you have the patience to sit through it.
I like the good old days of PVRs - the add skip button was perfect to jump to the next play and see all the action in 1/3 the time.

Yeah, live is only good if socialising and eating between plays - but I find it difficult to switch back on so miss most of the game.

          • @Jerruh: Pepsi! For those who think young.

          • @Jerruh: Thanks for my daily dose of oxymoron :)

No cricket is like watching a courtship between a priest and a nun.ZZZZZZZ
Always been a sport for people not fit enough to play sport 😀

          • +1

            @Lovemybargains:

Always been a sport for people not fit enough to play sport

Er what? Most people who play cricket in summer play some form of football in winter. In fact AFL was invented as a way for cricketers to stay fit in the off season.

      • -2

I love when people flag their ignorance of gridiron with comments like this. It's a great sport and with far more nuance and strategy than cricket. Rarely a bad NFL game, bad cricket matches are a dime a dozen.

        • +2

Slow and tactical isn't bad. You are just being defensive.

    • +2

I'd prefer the US commentary… not sure why we would need a dedicated AU/NZ commentary? Unless it features Eagles legend Sav Rocca….

    • Exact opposite to what I would want. It's an American game, why not have American commentary?

  • +4

Any reason not to watch on channel 7 or Kayo?

    • +30

This has a dedicated Swift cam

    • +8

Half the show is the adverts, you don't get them on 7.

      • Ah cheers makes sense

        • +4

          makes sense

          99 sense…

      • +12

Paying to watch adverts… what has OzBargain come to…

Need to see some Eneloop battery deals to make myself feel better.

  • -1

inb4 "why would you pay for something you can get for free/to watch ads" posts

    • +1

wow tough crowd. last year it seemed half the deal was people perplexed as to why we would pay to watch ads.

      • +1

I'm with you. I came here to: 1) find out when it's on, and 2) find out where I can see it free

    • +4

People pirate to avoid the ads

People pay for this so they can watch the ads

  • +1

What resolution is the stream? Probably 720p I'm guessing.

    • +5
      • lol i think you're right JV. just signed up and setup on ATV4 streaming their NFL channel - it's horrible resolution. pixelation, ghosting. Game day will be worse.
Yes, I have turned it off and on again…might just have to watch it on the iphone

        • +1

nah. I streamed nfl on DAZN over Christmas on the other deal and it was fantastic. Possibly even better than kayo in terms of picture quality. Infinitely better than Kayo in that I got to see US commercials instead of the same six ESPN australia commercials for 8 hours.

          • @dirkgonnadirk: Kayo is 1080. your saying DAZN is higher than 1080?

            • @CookedChook: no, i'm not suggesting that. i'm saying that on the one day i used it, i remember being pleasantly surprised with the quality. presumably it was 1080p, but i wouldn't be surprised if the bitrate was better than kayo. definitely didn't experience what Dok did above. this was also on an ATV4 with a 65" OLED.

but i would defer to anyone who used it all season long.

i also recall seeing the -15s / +15s on the lock screen of my phone when using the remote on there, which i don't think i've ever seen for kayo.

          • +1

@dirkgonnadirk: Knowing how filthy Sid's wrister is means knowing why goalies lose 10 pounds of sweat every game.

Knowing it's sudden death against Connor McDavid is knowing the game is as good as over.

Knowing the taste of victory is knowing that it tastes best out of one particular cup.

To know hockey is to love hockey. The NHL on ESPN and ESPN and ESPN+

            • @Domingo: we're the dreamers…..until the dream gets DONE

            • +1

@Domingo: Every third ad, mixed in with the
'campus security came up and said NO SIGNS, but it was already too late ..

        • did you give it a second to buffer out?

DAZN has a pretty high bitrate 1080 stream but it does take a second to kick in and behave

          • @TexasVujicic: gave it a few mins mate. Will try again later see how it goes. cheers, Dok

  • +2

If this was an Australian stream it’d be $10+

Good value if you’re into the sport

    Super Bowl

    😲

  • Hopefully, it will be the Fox broadcast—really enjoy Greg Olsen's commentary.

    • +1

No, it will be the CBS broadcast this year, including the ads. The Super Bowl rotates between the four networks (CBS, Fox, NBC, ABC/ESPN) each year.

    • Olsen has grown on me over the last few years but I believe he's done as the main caller as he's being replaced by Gisele's ex-husband. Hopefully, Greg gets picked up by a rival network.

WARNING - from a DAZN premium subscriber
Over the past years I'd been an NFL Gamepass subscriber (2021/22/23) direct Gamepass from the NFL. For this season they palmed the hosting off to DAZN. Amazingly, the paypal approval for then NFL to charge me for Gamepass was transferred over the DAZN and they were able to auto renew it at twice the price. So my paypal approval for the NFL to charge me $139 per year became DAZN charging me $280 without me having to approve anything in that process. I know this happened to hundreds in Australia who were all equally surprised.

Ultimately, it's fine as I wanted to watch it anyway. But just be careful as to what is in the Ts and Cs for this "access", particularly if paying via paypal.

  • +1

    I think it's A$0.99, not US$.

    • This is correct

  • Much better experience. Better commentators, US ads

    • If it's like the previous year, Seven will take the feed direct from the host broadcast (CBS this year). The only difference is you will get US ads, not retirement insurance from Seven.

      • Or, like in the Championship games… 90% Aussie F150 ads (hey, they know their crowd)

  • Thanks OP. I've taken the day off work to watch the game so this will be way better for me than the Aus broadcast, assuming I don't go to a bar last minute.

  • Thanks OP

  • +2

    This is a good price.

DAZN is f'ing awful. Someone said it earlier as well - as a subscriber I would never recommend anyone take it up.

  • +1

Its .99 aud. Not usd. Thats all i was charged

  • Can't you just stream cbs via vpn?

  • +1
  • Can watch it for free something, something dot net or something dot to

  • +1

DAZN was the worst thing to happen to NFL streaming, pathetic unreliable scam service, made Kayo look good, I miss the old NFL Gamepass. Warning, sign up for this and they might charge you for a full year, they've done it to a lot of people.

  • I've been watching the CBS playoff games on Paramount+ US so will do the same for the Super Bowl.

    99c saved. Winning.

  • Pretty sure you can catch the game on Paramount+ too

    • US yes, Australia definitely not.

  • Been following the NFL since Montana played for the 49ers, he then went to the Chiefs. This is my dream team final.

Slightly leaning towards the Chiefs because Mahomes is phenomenal. The Chiefs won last year and he only had one good leg.

In all honesty we tape the game and chase it. That way we can skip the Australian ads.

If you want to watch the Super Bowl ads they usually get put up on YouTube.

The beauty of the game is you don’t need to concentrate. Anything exciting will be replayed from multiple angles. Sometimes the play is phenomenal.

During the regular season the wardrobe mistress has a great deal of fun dressing the halftime commentary scheme. It is hard to hear the comments over the clothes that clash so badly they scream.

    • You are the first person I've seen call this their dream final haha! Chief's Kingdom here and hoping to ruin everyone's day and grab another!

      • +1
      • Interesting fact.
“Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and the Niners had jumped ahead 10-0, but that’s no big deal for Mahomes and the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. They’ve trailed by 10 points in all three of their victories, including last year’s 38-35 win over Philadelphia.”

As one of the commentators said last year when the Chiefs were down 10. The Chiefs have got the Eagles right where they want them. Hilarious.

  • Half time commentary team.

  • Thanks OP. I grabbed this deal last year. It was great. Glad they are doing it again for 99c. The US ads are a bit of a novelty and nice for a chance

  • Noice!!!!

  • Looks like the 46ers will win da super ball

  • Well that result will drive the MAGAs nuts.
