Telstra price matches for 7 days. Go back and asked to put the difference back in your account.

  • Thanks OP will claim with 28Deg

    • +1

The cost of this protection is 0.5% of the monthly closing balance

      • +2

Or 0% if you pay in full

      • +2

Free if you pay anytime prior to statement generation.

  • -1

    Does Officeworks price beat?

  • -1

Will Teltra issue an tax invoice if I buy it outright?

    • +35

      No, but Telstra will.

      • Lol

  • +5

Outright purchase option removed. Only 12/24/36 months plans.

    • That is what I’m seeing as well. Can’t see how that gives $300 off.

      • can still see it on Pro Max?

        • Yeah, but not sure it is discounted. I wonder if the site is having issues.

    • Seems to only show when you try to log in:

      Unable to process the order
You need a plan associated to your account to buy a device outright.

Terms and conditions kinda imply you could sign up to a 1 year plan, cancel within 1 month, and they won't charge you for the latter 11 months.

But at the same time, the cheapest plan is $62/month. Barely worth the risk/reward.

Also dayum, normies paying so much for internet. I pay $60-$100 for an entire year on prepaid.

      • -1

Thats not correct. I don’t have any Telstra service at the moment, but have an old Telstra ID and logged in using that and was able to purchase online.

      • Same boat, just want to buy the phone on repayments with out a plan and use my prepaid sim. Normally you would think it's safe to cancel the plan straight away but this is Telstra.

Reading through the critical info summary and it says the device must be paid out in full if the plan is cancelled. So doesnt work out if you want repayments for the phone, so doest work for me.

    • I just completed purchase of a pro outright and not attached to a plan.

  • +2

Outright only available in store. Advised by Telstra chat

    • For instore, you need telstra id?

      • I logged out of Telstra Plus, can still see the deals.

      • +3

        No need for Telstra ID

        • Any chance of an ultra deal coming celery?

    • So the "outright purchase conditions" are that you must go into store to purchase or are there further conditions they will tell you about once you get in-store?

      • As someone else mentioned opening the MyTelstra app rather through a browser allowed outright purchase to come up.

      • Some stores don’t actually let you just walk in and buy the phone. Some stores you’ll need to make an appointment…

I discovered this the other day when I went to buy something, and was told I could come back in a couple of hours. So I went to JB, and bought it

    • +1

      It's available online now.

    • +1

Update at 1:28am - order went through. Guess the chat rep don’t know what they are talking about and the site wasn’t set up to handle it right after midnight.

  • -1

You don't need the price in the listing? Didn't know you could do x off

  • Is it possible to ring them up and pay the full amount?

  • +2

I still don't see the outright option, only 12, 24 and 36 month payment options.

    • Same for me
On outright plans I only see up to iPhone 12
When filtered says 9 iPhones but shows only 5
      Wth

    • +1

      Same

    • Same. Also logged in with Telstra ID

Edit: it's making me add a plan before I can add to cart too

      • +1

Called Telstra, rep on the phone told me to purchase outright without plan and pay fully upfront, the only option is to buy instore. YMMV though as rep seemed a bit clueless about the deal altogether

        • +1

Working using @Huhh's method below. Ordered iPhone 15 256gb Black outright for $1399

    • +1

The outright purchase option is there on the MyTelstra app. But it doesn't come up when logged in through a browser.

      • thanks - deal updated :)

      • Edit..worked it out

  • +1

Does Telstra do trade ins ?

    • Yes if you have an upfront mobile service

  • If apple can price match some of it, using the recent apple gift cards, would that not be the better deal especially if you need higher storage?

    • -1

Yes surely “if” since Apple doesn’t price match 😬

Google iPhone 15 pro 256 and find the outright option

    Not sure if that works

    • thanks - deal updated :)

      • the outright option has disappeared :(

        • yes, it doesn’t show, but did you check phone cost after using outright link, and adding to cart?

  • Bought it two days ago and started using it 😢

    • Return it

      • Can only do that if faulty or was bought direct from Apple

  • No outright option.

    • Back for me

  • +1

I can see the outright option for the pixel 8 deal but not for the iPhone 15

  • Can you purchase outright in store without a Telstra ID?

    • Scroll up

  • I added an iPhone 15 to my cart yesterday before the sale, and more that has the $300 discount applied to it, however when in go back to the phone page itself, the outright option is missing (as are other iPhone outright options). Wierd.

  • Shame the discount isnt applied to the Telstra rewards store

    • +1

I think it is, I just bought it in the Telstra rewards store. You can either buy it outright or over 12-24mths, no plan required.

      • +1

Oh yeah? Thats what I was hoping to do. I'll have another look

Yep it's been updated. Wasnt showing this morning

        Damn it, not enough points

        • You have until mid March, hopefully you might be able to get enough by then. I paid as much as I could with points, then the rest on a payment plan. Loved that I didn't have to sign up for a mobile plan.

  • Link provided @huhh works. Tried office works price beat 2 times no luck. Also if you want the repayment option and have a plan already, you just add a "dummy" plan then it gets removed during the order process. Also if you set your income threshold pretty low, and have a 12 month repayment it asks you to pay some upfront or go on a longer term, so this can be a good option.

    • do you need a telstra ID?

      • +1

yes, that was the reason OW didn't price match

    • How did you get this to work?

I already have an active telstra plan. Is there anyway to get an iphone on 24/36 month repayments, without adding another plan? Im confused about that part where you said dummy plan? It doesn't get rid of the plan at checkout for me.

      • Are you logged in. I just selected the same plan that I am on, selected the period I wanted to pay it off went through the purchase process, first step asks you what account, then you get to choose your existing service. Once selected like the 3 step it just drops off and becomes just the phone. Then if you set your income mid range on the credit check it will ask you to either extend your term or pay some outright.

        • Ahh ok. I'm on a JB HI FI/Telstra plan so I can't select the same plan. Maybe thats why. Thanks!

    • +1

      you mean Pro?

    • This doesn't work for me, could you send a link?

      • +2

Looks like you can add as outright purchase when you go via the business store link. When you go through to checkout, it lets you choose personal account.

        • thanks for the alternative - deal updated :)

          • @tonester: Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. When I add this to cart, telstra stops my purchase, saying that outright payments have to come with a plan :(

"You need a plan associated to your account to buy a device outright."

The real deal is the combo of the discount + Telstra Plus Points
You should be able to go onto the $72 a month plan, get the 50,000 Telstra Plus Points (credited within 14 days) and then buy Belong SIM cards (5x totalling $400 Credit + an additional $100 for 5x $20 referral sign ups). Once you activate your first Belong sim this should cause the balance remaining for the iPhone to be able and should retain the discount.

I did this for my 12 Pro Max and still haven't paid a cent for my mobile plan since I got it (Actually net'd a profit thanks to Boost cashback sims)

    My process is:
    1. Buy 1 Belong SIM card with Telstra Plus Points
    2. Activate on $29 a month plan with Referral from OzB
    3. Swap to $19 a month plan for the rest of the credit (if you don't need the extra data)
    4. Once you've exhausted Belong credit buy these constant Boost sims that net you a profit
    5. Run Boost sim for a month and buy another Belong sim with Telstra Plus Points
    6. See Step 2.

Ensure you use a unique e-mail each time with Belong

Double down on the $20 for you/referrer if you have a partner/family member you can refer with.

    • +2

but you need to pay for the $72 plan?

      • $72 for $500 Belong credit

    • Or do none of that and buy a yearly prepaid sim plan for $99 from catchconnect/kogan.

      • Hardly the OzB way!

      • she/he is basically sim hopping, there is even a sim hopping guide in OZB.

The amount of work people are willing to do to say $8.25/month is just extraordinary.

        • You’re right, and at this point it’s become more of a game of how little can I pay.

It takes me about 10 mins per order and then sim swap, I have to do about 3 a year. At minimum wage that’s only like $13~ a year (of my time) to save $8.25 a month. Now based off previous OzB salary ranges most get paid a fair chunk more so your mileage may vary but the math checks out that it’s still a saving ;)

          • @mrcorehh: I am not Belong user nor I am Telstra, but isn't…

            1) New user don't have $19 plan
            2) You need a new email every time to sign up to use the referral

Just for those who is interested the maths actually works like this:

Spend $75 to get that 50000 Telstra points, This will let you buy 5 x $80 Belong sim pack at the current rate. If I am correct then adding the refer credit $20 will give you enough to access the $29 plan for three months. Then you get a free boost sim for a month and start all over again.

In short $75 for 16 months of services, yes the maths work but the trouble to do it… nah. I will stick with my plan to move to Moose then think about it 12 months later.

            • @syswong: You can't do the $19 plan the first month but can change for following months but then you'll end up on the 5th month either wasting $14 credit or paying $5 to not lose out on the $14. But with the Boost cash back sims that constantly come up you can cover the $5 (in the long term anyways).

So you'll end up getting 25 total months (if you opt to pay the $5 every 5 months)

If you use gmail you can just append + to your email to give you a "new" e-mail in Belong's eyes. Or if you're an outlook user it's a few more steps to make extra aliases.

Definitely not for everyone, like I mentioned, it's a bit of fun for me at this point.

    • something went wrong if I do this checkout

it only goes through if I pay full amount outright

    • It doesn't let me access the plus store as I don't have an active Telstra service how would I be able to buy it through Telstra plus then?

  • Screenshotted it last night before they removed the outright option, so will claim price protection on 28D :)

    • would you mind sharing with me ?

    • +1

You need to share that screenshot my good man

  • +2

No luck @officeworks. Tried twice over the phone with different reps but they said they don’t price beat/match Telstra.

    • Isn't that going against their Ts & C's

      • You need to have a Telstra ID to get the deal. They may consider it isn’t available to the “public”. Still worth an ask though.

    • need to go in-store

  • +3

Tried JBHIFI Brighton, they refused to pm

    • in that case, call them.

    • Telstra will sell it retail. They really should be matching

    • what was their excuse for not price-matching?

  • +2

Bought the watch over the weekend from apple, returned.
Thanks to OP able to score GPS+Cellular with same price of GPS. :)

  • It is objecting to my Telstra ID. I will probably need to go in store to see what is happening.

    • Picked one up from the store at discount price.

      • do you need anything to buy in store outright?

        • My Telstra ID. They also looked at my Medicare card and Drivers licence.

  • +1

So if this can be bought in a Telstra store without a contract, then does jb hifi/officeworks actually have a legit excuse to not price match this?
