    Dont think these prices are that great for the hassle of sony/ebay/boxed damaged. The LG oled C series are close to this when on sale and are very close in quality to the A80L

      I bought my last A80L 55" as box damaged through Sony eBay story for about the same price several months ago.

      No issues here and delivered in fair time, but the tracking was a bit off.

        Fair enough. I think with the C3 its close enough to the A80L and if you can get the LG new for the same price I would go for that, if the A80L was new and direct from sony then its a good deal, its such a coin flip with these box damage deals.

          I find webOS faster in all respects.

          Also watching my firewall it seems to spy on you less also.

    Just realised I’ve been playing a video game on my OLED and the power gauges have been burnt into my screen now…never happened on an LED 😭

      I've been gaming on my OLED since 2018 without issue - occasionally get a little bit of retention (visible for a minute or two) but no burn in.

      Did you have any of the anti burn in measures enabled? (pixel shift, logo reduction, lower panel brightness etc)

        They're all made by either LG (WOLED) or Samsung (QD-OLED) so the brand doesn't really make a difference

      Our Panasonic OLED TV has burn in… its all I can see now I noticed it. BOLD TV logo to the right lower corner, and a red box where MUTE, sat instead of roaming the screen, or dropping off quicker… and two blobs low down in the middle that arent really burn in, just a flaw. Some yellows are more tinged green now.

      Its flawed tech IMO.

        Our other OLED has a tv logo burned in but only noticeable when it’s black.

      Avoid. You need higher brightness in a bright room and higher brightness causes burn in.

      For current tech, LED. But OLED brightness is catching up. Maybe in a few years it'll be easier to recommend in a bright living room space.

    The A80L is a great panel and the picture quality is flawless. But the UI is garbage - the android youtube, Spotify and Disney plus apps just don't work no matter what I try. An external HDD/SSD takes an unreasonably long time to load and play using the TV's own media player.

    In comparison to a 1000 AUD UHD LG, everything worked perfectly. A bit disappointed with my purchase and may sell it for a C3 or a C4.

        For a more flexible option, just use a SFF PC - I have a $50 Dell Micro 6th Gen PC plugged into my TV permanently.

        got an apple tv 4k for it yesterday and couldn't be happier, it's much smoother and all the apps work. Except for Spotify - I cannot hear any sound and it keeps skipping songs every 20s. Bit weird honestly and I cant seem to fix that. Still much cleaner, and faster then Android UI

      I agree android tv can be slow and sluggish. Had the x900h before and the same inbuilt player issue as my a80k but the xr processor and upscaling make up for it

    Bought a refurbished a80k off ebay when they had $600 off that price.

    Not a mark on it and no panel hours pretty stoked. Second time I’ve bought off Sony refurb/box damaged and no problems.

    I bought my 55” A80J a year ago new from JB Hi Fi for $1298 delivered. Although it was 1 model old at the time, the price for A80L isn’t much of a deal.

    I’m happy with my A80J performance wise, Google OS no issues with the apps.

      Agreed. I got the 55” A80J in a deal last year, I think I paid $1345 for mine. Took ages to be delivered but has been great. Not a second or damaged box. These prices on the A80L aren’t that great.
      Very happy with my tv, except we’ve moved and it’s a bit small in our new lounge room. Eyeing off a 65” at some stage.

    Its a shame the premium for anything bigger than 65 inches on the OLED tvs is so large, especially relative to the premium for larger mini led displays.

        42” OLED’s lessened this distance but still further away than I’ve ever placed my monitor on a desk. 42” feels like as big as I’d like to go for a display on my desk.

    I wouldn't touch carton damaged again unless they can confirm the unit works 100%. Recently went through this and the device had power issues, waited over a month for a new replacement, would rather not go through it again.

      Box damaged does not nor should mean damaged item. You have same legal rights as for a product with no box damage, both are new in box products. If Sony is messing you around thats poor. Waiting a month is excessive though the bigger the tv the harder to organise pickup/delivery compared to smaller 55" sizes.

      If you are at least prepared for potential dramas then it is a great way of saving money IF the box damaged is actually way better than standard deals.
