Good deal, personally don't need that much data. If only the SMALL was discounted too

    • +2

Can’t relate, I need double that data. Wish the XL was discounted.

      • Let's hope the XL gets some love too!

      • +1

let's hope all of us get some love! and XL, too!

      • +4

They've done 50% off EOFY deals every June for the last few years so hopefully again this year.

        • +1

          $150 for 500GB fingers crossed.

          • @nobro25: Yes! I need the same for one of my kids who’s a heavy user. I only use 60-70gb a year as mostly there is wifi and super short commuting.

      • @EFC94

What you use all the data on?

Or do you use this for home internet so don't need the nbn?

        • Generally just watching videos when out and about. I’d also rather just pay a little extra over the course of the year so I don’t need to stress about skimping on data.

  • Does medium have 5G access? I don't think small does.

    • +1

The 5G trial is exclusively for the large monthly plan (i.e. people paying $40/month).

      • +1

All Vodafone branded SIM cards have 5G access, including all prepaid plans and now their Felix branded 25GB and 50GB have 5G but Felix is limited to 150Mbps.

        • I get that, but you're also paying twice as much per unit of data, and that's comparing sale prices.

          • @jasswolf: The 240GB yearly Vodafone branded SIM is often on sale for between $99 to $149 for the year.
The Felix SIM is currently half price for the first 3 months, so $10/Month for 25GB each month, after that $20/month

            • @SimAus007: So outside of the $99 deal, exactly what I wrote? Kogan often offer 500GB for $150 on their 4G access.

              • -3

@jasswolf: I was referencing 5G, you said "The 5G trial is exclusively for the large monthly plan (i.e. people paying $40/month)." Which is fundamentally incorrect on the same network, if you go for either Vodafone or Felix branded services.
You can get 20 to 25GB per month for around $10 PM with access to 5G.
I'm not sure why you are now referencing the 500GB 4G plan with Kogan.
I'm comparing it to comparable data allowances with 5G access and at a lower cost.
Either way, it doesn't matter, each to their own, get what works best for you :)

                • -1

@SimAus007: Fundamentally incorrect? There isn't another Kogan Mobile offering that has 5G, no one was referring to wider Vodafone access, just you. The $99 Vodafone deal is exclusively to CostCo, in store only once a year.

The Felix mobile offer is for the first 3 months only, then it's $25, which makes it $255. Nothing I have written is remotely incorrect, unless your plan for this person if for them two churn Felix then another provider while waiting for the costco deal, and even then it's 40% higher data costs at best.

Please consider fresh air and exercise.

  • I don't think I've seen medium discounted to $120 before, usually the sale is $140. Small normal price is $120.

  • +6

    Free SIM card included

    Thanks Ruslan

‼️ Stack with code APPLOVE + $5 credit min spend $100 to get mobile plan for $110. Use Kogan GCs with cashback if possible for further savings! ‼️

    • +1

On the app only the discount code is valid, I don;t think cashrewards will track it from the kogan app

    • I couldn't find the place to enter code either

      • +1

It's only on the app, but no cashrewards in this case

        • thank you I will give it a try!

        • +2

can not find where to enter on app

        • Actually I just tried again and I saw the box for the discount code at the bottom of the check out page

    • Ive just tried to enter the code but there's no option to enter it.

  • +1

is it available only to new customers?

    • +1

No I bought it as existing customer

  • +1

Wow great deal I got a voucher earlier during the year o think 100$ for 120gb, this takes the cake

  • +1

Is it 5G and what carrier?

    • +1

      5-1G and Vodafone

    • Vodafone (TPG) - 4G only on this plan.

  • +3

Does this work as a recharge?

    • +5

      Yes:

If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account and use your voucher to recharge. Each voucher can be redeemed for a Medium 365 Days FLEX Plan without any additional charge.

      • +7

        YES BUT STOP.
You need to wait until the last minute to add the credit to your existing account, else you forfeit the remainder.
The credit does NOT stack - it REPLACES your existing credit (I found this out the hard way a few years ago)

        • I went through this today. I needed to call Kogan help in order to remove my auto recharge and they had to manually apply the voucher to my account. Worth knowing this if you trying to activate/recharge outside of business hours.

  • looks like i will have to take up this offer since amaysim isn't offering any competitive deals

    • +2

I chatted with Amaysim support 2 days ago and they offered 25% discount on my renewal. Given that I have more than 100gb left in my account, I renewed and have the databank added to the renewal. Try chatting with them if you want to stay with amaysim.

      • Have you received any promo stuff from them? I'm on 60gb/yr with plenty of data bank, but tried chatting to them and they said they'd only renew me for a discount if I could prove I have an offer - no matching/beating other retailers :(

        • +1

No I did not have any promos from them. My service had around 5 days before expiry when I asked them. I did however asked them around a month ago and they didn't give me any offers that time. I was going to move if they did not offer me anything again this time around. I'm on their now obsolete 165gb/yr plan.

          • @starcam: Thanks for the response - I might try again in a few days (my plan expires next week)

      • +1

Can confirm this seemed to have worked. I reached out to them and they didn't really offer me much so I just said I'd pass. Later on got a message that they will give me 50% off my renewal!

        Thank you

        • I got $10 offer only to renew. I say good bye.

          • @EarthMan: My discount came about a week from my plan expiring. Might be worth waiting

  • +1

Thanks OP! Am about a month away from my Kogan renewal, so this was perfect timing.

  • You guys asking about 5G know that’s it throttled on practically every plan now? Not sure any point over 4G anymore.

    • throttled why?

  • looking for a 365 days prepaid plan for a second backup phone/line, is this the best deal atm? data is not that important to me. is there anything cheaper than 120 bucks? 5g not important

    • +4

Depending on how much use your secondary number actually gets, you can go for one of these.

$87.50 ($7.29 per month) for 100GB of data for the whole year, unlimited calls + texts, Vodafone network, prepaid.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/842953

$4 per month for 0.5GB per month ($48 per year), 100 SMS, 100 minutes calls, Optus network, but this is postpaid, not pre.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/812806

I use the $4 per month plan for my primary number and constantly cycle through promotional SIMs for mobile data in my second SIM slot.

I don't call that much, so I never hit the 100 minute call limit and using RCS on Google Messages does not count towards the 100 SMS limit.

You do have to be careful if you end up calling a badly funded off shore support centre during peak times, because they might force you to wait for long periods of time and that can end up eating a fair chunk out of the 100 minute limit.

      • thanks bro ultimate 12 seems to be the best priced one without limitations. have you used it yourself? checked reviews they got 4 single reviews lol

i thought kogan had the best (non limited time deal) small plan 120gb $120 per year. right now they got the medium on sale at 120 with coupon its 110, seems like the best deal.

        • +1

I forgot to mention the $87.50 plan is eSIM only. If you try to add a physical SIM to the cart, it reverts to a higher price.

I'm also not sure why you would insist on non discounted prices only. It's not a huge deal to shop around for mobile plans once a year. It's the antithesis of OzBargain.

There's also the Catch Connect 60GB yearly plan. Normal price $120, common discounted price is $99 and uncommon discounted price is $89. Check the Catch Connect deal history for details.

          • @non-core promise: good points, how does catch compare to kogan?

            • @Roe Jogan: They use Optus.

You have to do your own research on how good the service is in your area for Optus vs Vodafone.

Nobody else can tell you this without overgeneralising.

              Don't just assume it's Telstra > Optus > Vodafone.

    • for my backup i use amaysim $60 12month plan. Unlimited text and calls, No data

  • Optus network?

    • vodafone. call over 4g only, no cellar calls at all, means if you don't have internet, you can't make or receive any calls. my experience is terrible - you have no reception inside the bunnings stores or when you in a far corner corner of the building with no windows (e.g. shopping centre). or in a crowd at any event

      • +1

What do you mean no cellar calls?

        • -1

sorry, meant cellular, like with classic mobile network providers

          • +2

@Skky: No cellular calls 😂 that's enough internet for today.

            • +1

@Food: 😂😂😂 mobile plan without cellular calls

          • +1

@Skky: Of course is has regular (cellular) calls LoL

            • @SimAus007: Anyone have any idea about what Skky is bangin on about?

              • @9hundred: No, I don't think they have any idea what they are bangin on about LoL

            • @SimAus007: read the fine print- only LTE. no internet - no calls, even if you have few bars of reception.
proof that I am not alone - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/3pxjnmmv

it took me 2 hours googling and chatting with support and kind of hacks to enable LTE for eSim on motorola because it was locked by combination of other settings.
Oh, on top of that you have to have roaming enabled to make calls in Australia!

              • +2

@Skky: I have Kogan and I can make calls without internet.

              • +2

@Skky: What are you smoking? None of what you said makes any sense.
Roaming to make calls in Australia? lol
Not LTE, what does it use then, a 3G network that has been switched off? lol
If you read the replies to the Whirlpool post, perhaps things will become clear for you.
Give it a rest as everything you say makes zero sense whatsoever.
It's clear your phone is the issue, not the network.

                • @SimAus007: ok, buy Kogan and have fun, my latest experience with them is bad , i used them many times before, but won't buy their service again

                  • +1

                    @Skky: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/828448
another thread with complains about lte service. i don't say it doesn't work, i say it is challenging to set up on some phones and you cannot make calls when no internet.
you can try to switch off mobile data and try make calls - on other providers there is no problem dop that, on vodafone - no calls

                    • @Skky: This deal is for Kogan, a reseller, not Vodafone directly

  • It sounds kinda crappy with throttled 5G and no cellular call or whatever skky is saying with patchy reception and stuff

  • can this receive text while overseas but not subscribe to roaming?

    • No

      • you tried?

      • Can anyone else confirm this? I was able to receive text while holidaying in Indonesia without subscribing to roaming, but that was a few years ago. Unless Kogan has changed this feature recently.

        • When I used Kogan in Indonesia was around 6 months ago, when did you go?

          • @SimAus007: A few years ago. Before Covid, so probably 2018ish? I was able to connect to an Indonesian network and receive texts on my Kogan without subscribing to roaming. I was on 40gb per month pre-paid. Were you not able to receive text at all?

            • +1

@Banana3: I was on their yearly plan at that time and I couldn't receive SMS. Added roaming to my service. Unless it wasn't something else or there was an issue at the time. Hopefully someone else can chime in with a more recent experience.

    • +1

so does Optus prepaid has this feature? pretty handy when I was holidaying in Indonesia to at least get sms notifications from my Boost sim card.

      • +1

Did some search myself and learned that apparently only Telstra network doesn't have geoblock for their VoWifi which means you can still receive phone call and SMS if connected to Wifi (when overseas and didn't pay for international roaming).

      • wrong person

  • Accept this Kogan plan does not offer 5G.

  • +1

New customers only for this deal or what?

    • +1

      Also existing

  • +1

Too bad I bought Boost a couple of hours ago with $50 cash back. But I guess I will enjoy the 5G comes with Boost.

    • +2

Kogan = Vodafone, it’s pretty shit most places. You just saved yourself 12 months of pain!!

      • We are in Sydney and have used Kogan/vodafone and Lebara and works no problem at all!

  • +1

i cannot get kogan (vodafone network) to work with VPN
contact customer service and they cannot help

    Boost
    catch
    amaysim
all works with vpn (optus/ telstra)

  • Kogan is pretty patchy in rural/regional Victorian areas I have been to even though they are listed as covered on their coverage maps. Worth keeping in mind if you ever go outside the metro areas.

  • -1

aaaaahhhhh…..this is ridiculous if I can't even use cellular, needs wifi wtf!!!!
