I just got this in an email. It's slightly different I believe from the offers previously stated.

If you want to help me out and be my OzBargain friend, you can use my friend code.

Hi,

We trust you've been enjoying your new
Orange Everyday transaction account and
getting 5% cash back everyday on your
contactless purchases.

For a limited time, you can get a $50 bonus
for every friend (up to 5) that activates a new
Orange Everyday card before 31 January
2013. Your friend will also get $50, and the
5% cash back offer when they sign up!

To take advantage of this great offer,
simply forward this email onto your
friends and family.

All your friend needs to do is:

  1. Register at ingdirect.com.au/friend
  2. Enter your code: "XXX-XXXX" (Not real code)
  3. Apply in 4 steps

Pretty good deal all around I think.

I just got this in my email too,

going to sign up my family

    pretty awesome deal!

    MOD: Remove referral code

    thanks

    • I still have five left. PM me if you need the code. Cheers

Looks like my procrastination for getting an orange everyday card has paid off :) Although I guess I miss out on referrals ah well..

    • +2

PM me if you want a genuine and WORKING referral code. Can't post on the forum.

  • awesome awesome deal!!!

    • +1

      I used it :)

    • Great idea!
Anyone has a clue on how we can do that? It'll also be great to have a counter next to each code to know how many referrals are left on it.

      • Does it tell you if a code has been used 5 times?

        • Not sure if ING will tell you that the code has been 'used up' when you type it in.
I think they would though cause then a person might expect a $50 bonus when they open the account and not get it cause it's been used by 5 people already. Bad PR for ING Direct and a potential claim with the ACCC for 'false and misleading advertising'.

I feel an ozbargined coming on!

  • Where do you get your codes from? Is it only people who received the email?

    • Correct

    • In the email.

Maybe your email is slow or you didnt get it yet.

      • I'm hoping my e-mail is slow too… Haven't received anything yet.

    • Using this one now.

  • Any idea how long the $50 will take to appear in a new account?

    • Usually pretty quick. ING are quick with rebates/vouchers

    • +1

      This is from the e-mail,

"The refer a friend $50 offer is available to the addressee of this email, for a limited time and is applicable only on the first 5 new Orange Everyday customers referred. One $50 payment will be made to your Orange Everyday account (including joint accounts) for each new Orange Everyday customer that registers at ingdirect.com.au/friend using your exclusive code and opens and activates their Orange Everyday by 31 January 2013.The maximum cash available to you as a referrer is capped at $250 per account (including joint accounts). Each referee will also receive a $50 payment into the first Orange Everyday account (including joint accounts) that is activated by 31 January 2013. The $50 will be paid to all eligible accounts by 8 February 2013."

  • LOL I think almost everyone in Australia is going to get spam by this deal.

    • haha Nice code. PSY oop oppp ooopppan gangnam style!

      • Ha ha….good point!
I can't believe I haven't noticed that until you mentioned it.

Did you end up using this code?

  • +2

I'm already an ING customer but only with a savings maximiser account, when I go to the linked page and enter in someone's code it asks me if I'm already an ING customer. When I say yes, it tells me to log into my online banking thing and sign up for the new account through there. I can't see any option to enter in a friend's code though through the online banking way, will I still end up getting the $50? :/

    • +3

Just a guess but this is how i think it will work.
If you complete the original form with your name, code and other details I believe they will cross reference those details with the details you enter when opening a new bank account and then apply the $50 if the other conditions are met.

  • Anyone else have the card but didn't receive this email?

  • Where do you get your ING code once you sign up?

    • I'd like to know also.

  • +2

Ohhhhhh!!! Question about "how did you hear about this offer" ozbargain wasnt on the list!!

  • +7

A quick google doc for everyone to add their referral code to, so we can keep check of who has referrals left: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlLjeGqut8ZhdG5…

    • The spreadsheet is rather useless now.

Just post if you want a code and I'm sure someone will PM you rather quickly. You can also PM me or any of the members below who've stated they've got codes.

  • Please DO NOT post referral code in the comment. They will be removed.

  • The card is well worth it I've been using it for a month, loving the 5% off everytime i get petrol :)

  • Anyone?? Where do you get your ING code once you sign up?

  • Have been enjoying the 5% cashback for a while, except sometime found some listed retailers did not really have a PayWave EFPOS :( but 5% off all my groceries and fuel is not bad at all!

    MOD: Remove referral code

  • So, if new users sign up, I wonder if they will in turn get a referral code…which they can then pass on on partners, family and rellies and mates!

  • Is there a limit as to how long you have to have the account open for? A mate is with ING so I'll use his code, transfer over $20 or something, then wait till the $50 goes in and maybe just transfer it out. I dunno, might keep it as a holiday slush fund but already got 3 accounts and one savings account so dunno if it's worth it.

Anything to stop people from just transferring out the bonus and closing the account the moment it goes in there?

    • IIRC you have to wait until next March to get the bonus. But you'd be silly not to use the 5% PayWave rebate.

      • Yeah knew I'd have to wait till the money actually went in there. To be honest, the 5% PayWave doesn't really bother me haha. Just means more hassle of having to transfer money over from my normal transaction account to the ING one, along with the regular transfers I do to my 2 NAB ones for the car and also rent/bills. Can just get too complicated :P

        • Just make one $1k transfer and then go shopping with it. The interest you lose will only be a small fraction of the $50 you save. Pretty good for a couple of minutes work.

        • Hmm true, guess I'll see how I go!

  • I hate bad things. I like good things.

Edit: Can't believe someone negged that ^ What a horrible person.

  • +3

I am not here to post a referral code :D

  • +8

People are just spamming the spreadsheet now aren't they?

    • +2

Yep. Bit of a shame it couldn't be used properly - there are so many of us here who could benefit from this deal chances are everyone who wanted a referral would've got one, and vice versa.

    • +1

I wish user can add security to some particular cells

  • "The $50 will be paid to all eligible accounts by 8 February 2013"

So it's not instant $50 payment i'm assuming?

  • So the google Docs file is useless as it is completely inaccurate. Comments section was not the greatest solution but it was better.

    • Wow, the trolls… :\

      • Not the end of the world, just a bit annoying

        • +2

Yeah, just annoying… I had wanted to give the benefit of doubt that the OzBargain community was a bit better than this though.

  • +1

You can message me if you want the code.

    • And me too. I have a working code unlike the random garbage people are posting in the spreadsheet. Such a shame people are abusing it.

PM me if you want a code. I will not be posting it here (cause it's not allowed) or in the spreadsheet (cause it's useless).

  • lol, i didn't get an email with the offer :( I was told that not everyone recieves it and it is only limited to 1000 random accounts…

  • -1

Message me if you would like a code.

  • +2

Other sites use this simple method.

Someone who has a code posts a comment stating they have a code.
If people want the code they can DM you the person who commented they have a code.
When the code expires the original comment is deleted.

    • Sounds very simple. If anyone needs a code please message me. Still have 3 available that I know of.

  • did anyone here who has an account NOT get the offer?

    • I didn't get the email and just spoke to the call centre asking for my referral code and she had no idea what I was talking about *sigh

  • Anyone want a code, just PM me. 1 has been used, 4 use left…

  • +2

Great deal, I cant get over how great this bank is. No fees, great rate on the savings account and I got a free $50 when i signed up, now i get an extra $50 per referral! I'm stoked!

By the way, if anyone wants a code (and to do me a solid) PM me, I still got 5! :D

  • Good timing I had activating my ING card last week, got the original offer 5:20 PM EST.
    Pretty decent.

  • How many times can one code by applied? How many $50 can each party receive? Didn't find the T&C on this.

    • 5 times. PM me if you want the code

      T&C

  • Somehow I think we all have codes already. ><

  • Why don't we just PM them to OP, and OP can list them in the excel doc?

  • +7

The orginal google doc is too busy to open, you could use the following google doc to view/add/edit,

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoyhhRexQKzydFh…

    • +6

You can create a form for people to enter in their codes and make the sheet view only so you don't get idiots overwriting the whole sheet.
