Just bought five of these on my already 5% off WISH gift card. Thank you for posting.

    • Just a bit curious, whats already 5% off WISH card? I am planning to buy 5.

      • +1

There are a variety of ways in which you can purchase Woolworths WISH gift cards - currently redeemable at Dick Smith stores and Woolworths group establishments - at 5% off.

Two are listed below in the OzBargain posts listed above by matt_will_fix_it. Another way is to go into a Woolies store and use your ING Orange Everyday Card with Visa paywave to purchase multiple gift cards in transactions amounting to under $99. You'll get 5% back from ING on the purchases, for more details on the ING deal go here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/81169.

You can then use your newly acquired gift cards online and in store for an effective 5% discount off everything, including these already discounted Dick Smith gift cards.

        • Most of the ways of getting the 5% off (like Entertainment Book, Car clubs etc.) are online purchasing with extended delivery times.

Are there any outlets that sell these gift cards in store at 5% off?

        • RAC in WA - travel and member service centres sell them

        • Thought RAC only sold Essential cards to members @5% discount and could only be used at Woolie, Big W and Caltex Woolworths

        • RAC seem to have the WISH cards on the website available online or in store

          http://rac.com.au/Membership/Show-your-card-and-save/Lifesty…

        • Thanks. Was told only Essential cards available when I went to the WA RAC headoffice near Harbour Town last year. :P

      • I am able to buy WISH cards through my work. I really should just keep a stock of them for times like this, but I couldn't be bothered waiting for it to arrive in the mail, then waiting for the $100 card in the mail.

ozbargaining to the max, buying discounted gift cards with already discounted gift cards, i tip my hat to you sir

  • Woolworths 5% Staff Discount to purchase the Gift Cards and another 5% off whatever you buy, for a 20% discount.

    • But could the woolies staff discount used in online purchasing?

      • Yes you can put in stuff number at the check out whereas this is not available at Officeworks and I used to have Coles stuff card…

    • Nice maths.

      0.95 x 0.95 x 0.9 = 0.81225 or 18.775%

  • +1

shit man… i just bought 800$ worth of good for DS lsat saturday :( could ahve saved $50

    • -3

      Don't you mean $80?

      • +3

        5 Cards maximum per person

      • +2

Limit of 5 so $50 is correct.

        • I just bought 5 in 1 transaction and 4 in another… so it would have been $80? $450 and $360 respectively. Same account.

  • +2

do dicksmith card work in woolworth still?

    • Nobody could confirm in the previous deal, I might buy only one or two cards here because I can't see anything I might need from DSE any time soon.

      • +1

Same here, got 2 hoping they will work at Woolies or Caltex
If not, Im sure there'll be another bargain @ DSE to use these in the next 12 months

        • Was gonna buy two, then I put the details for the $20 Wish card I got from here and it worked despite saying it only works at supermarkets, so I'm gonna take a gamble and buy 5, even if they don't work at Woolies (I think they will…) I'll still find something at DSE before they expire.

        • Are you sure it was accepted? I tried this as well with the $20 card and it worked but then got a message under the order status to call customer service. Then plugging in the same card 1hr later it is still showing $20 to spend on big w site

        • The order went through fine, didn't see any message like you've described. Each Wish card I put in for payment behaved the same way.

Sweet! I'm converting my car to run on Eneloops…

  • Does Dick Smith sell the iPad mini? Can't find it on their website

    • I saw it in store a few days back!

      • Go to the Store and check. The website also doesn't note the Ipad Retina Wifi + Cellular models but had them in the Sydney George Street Store (I don't think all stores necessarily have them in Stock though)

  • They also have $100 iTunes card for $75.

    • The 7 eleven deal is better:
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/86700

      • +2

        7-11 card = $70 for $100 iTunes
Dick Smith = $64.125 for $100 iTunes ($75 - 10%)-5% (because of wish gift cards)

Just gotta work out what to spend the other $25 on.

    • +1

For iPads it is, Apple stuff like iPads never seem to go on sale

      • -4

Well, if you don't mind buying obsolete models.

        • Apparently, one don't. Majority starts bitching about the iPad 4 release after purchasing iPad 3.

      • This. Use it to buy Mac products, game consoles etc that are rarely affected by % off sales

      • They did on black friday ;-)

    • +1

In isolation yes, the idea is to stack with other discounts as they are offered…..

    • there was a sale a few weeks ago, LG 60 inch tv for $1199, less 15% promo for 2 days, then 5% for staff. if i got 10% off gift cards i could have paid $872, So you can get decent deals from DSE.

  • can u buy 5 then another 5, so on…?

    • i think u can create another account to do that.

  • Thanks, just bought some :)

  • Does anyone know if you can use multiple giftcards when buying online? So, if I buy a tablet for $300 I can use all 3 cards online

    • I've stacked multiple WISH giftcards on the Big W online store before with no issues. The Dick Smith interface seems similar so I don't think you'll have problems.

      • Thanks

  • just thot of this.. its already 10% off… if u have wish cards thats another 5%… + if someone is travelling overseas.. then buy within 30days and u get 9% off GST.. so in alll 24% off…
    isnt that amazing..

I just dont have the wish cars now… any idea till when is this sale?? from where can i get instant wish cards??
    cheers

    • +1

Instant wish cards can be purchased from RAA, RACQ etc.

      • Dumb question, by "Instant" do you mean they email you the codes (from www.membergiftcards.com.au) straight away? Thanks

      • How is this works? Don't you have to purchase online and get send to your address? Or they issue you a number and pin straight away?

        • It means you walk into a RAA branch in South Australia, speak to a real person, pay using their eftpos machine, and walk out with the gift card.

In the case of RAA there is a branch in the CBD - easy.

  • -1

Why don't they sell the new Ipad?

    • They do sell the iPad 4 in retail stores.

      • What about the mini?

      • Do they price match Big W's iPad 4 wifi only model price of $498?

      • Given the thread is about online gift card purchases, i was talking about purchasing online.

Not many Dick Smith stores around me and without any idea of prices nor stock levels, i'm not keen on shelling out $500 for a gift card with no guarantees i can actually purchase what i want.

  • It was free shipping for one Gift Card as well, even though it was $90 and thus under $100.

  • Any Promotional Vouchers to use on checkout?

  • I havent tried this yet as I need to go buy a 5%off wishcard, but by my calculations with the woolies staff discount its:
Credit Card on wishcards 5 x $100 or 1 x $500 - $475 (so you can earn points or ING or whatever)
    5 DSE giftcards = 450 - 5% staff discount = $427.5 used on the wishcard(s)

So in summary, $500 DSE Value and $72.5 Woolies value for $475. Which means I can purchase something at DSE to the value of roughly $602.63 for $475 (21.2% discount)! And then Tourist Refund Sscheme would get me roughly $54.78 back (making the $475 into 420.22 which is 30.3% discount on the 602.63) … drools

  • cards expires in 12 months so you cant hoard them until there is some big sale etc

    • "Additional Information 12 month expiry from the date activated"

Doesn't it mean you are require to activate the card before it can be used, and can keep it for as long as it is not activated?

      • +2

i think the cards are activated once its sent out. there are hundreds of gift cards hanging at woolies etc, thats why nobody bothers to steal them because it cant be used unless scanned at the register. correct me if im wrong

  • -1

Not sure if I think too much, I was told DSE is now not one of Woolie group and the gift cards will turn into worthless plastics if it goes into receivership.

    • Don't believe everything you're told.

    • DSE was bought out by another company and is unlikely to go into receivership.

    • Would it mean that Wish gift cards no longer can be used at DSE?

    • +3

As of Monday November 26, ownership of Dick Smith was officially handed over to Anchorage Capital Partners from Woolworths. There is no timetable yet as to when Woolies cards such as the WISH Gift Cards will cease in being able to be used at Dick Smith stores.

  • Just found that they don't have ipad 4, OMG, I 've just bought 5 for that.

    • I'll take the cards off you for $400

    • +2

Yes we do. And Mini's (at selected stores, ie: the large format stores that range Apple computers).

      • great to know that!

        • awww ! There goes my bargain

    • They do have the Mini / 4 in store I know, I'm sure it'll turn up online soon

  • how long does delivery take?

    • 2 to 3 business days

  • -5

Is it just me or does it seem like marketing.

I mean you can just negotiate more then 10% (apart from people who want to buy apple)

    • +5

So you negotiate more than 10% off, then pay with your 10% discounted cards bringing it to ~20% off :)

      • In the mean time you have out layed for something on the chance you may need from DSE?

        seems like a gamble.

  • +1

Can I buy gift cards and go overseas for tax return ?

    • +3

      Gift cards don't have GST.

  • Definitely worth buying in order to stack discounts, if you plan to buy Apple on sale ie wait for 10% off MacBook sale, purchase using these cards, claim GST (or whatever). And also, probably the only way to get a decent discount on iPad Mini.

  • Thanks OP Just bought 5.

  • Thanks Bought one. Looking to buy a 2TB when it goes on sale

Edit: I bough only one and didnt pay shipping charges

She's obviously misinformed - the checkout page accepts wish gift card payments.

    • I called them and they confirmed they still accept the cards. And yes, there's a menu to enter your card details. And I just made a purchase with the card and received my confirmation of order email

    • According to one of the team members I was talking to yesterday he had been told that DSE would be accepting Wish Gift Cards well into 2013 but wasn't sure about the exact date.
FYI just bought 5 DSE gift cards using wish gift cards.

For you SONY lovers out there:
Combine this with the 2x$30 PSN cards and you get $120 of PSN credit for $90!

  • +1

Great for buying phone recharge vouchers!

  • Does the offer end after tomorrow?

  • Is there a limit of how may gift card you can use in one transaction in store?

    • Can you use multiple gift cards online?

      • I never try.

      • yes as many as you like to make up total price.

  • i got an email from there verification team in NZ saying that my order would be cancelled if i didnt email them id. that suxs if they cancel my order was i have already through out some of the wish cards. you would think that they would have you on file having worked there and brought stuff in the past.

anyone else get a message from an email from there verification team in NZ ? if you ignore it will your gift card still show up?
