30% off All TorBox (Stremio + Real-Debrid Alternative) Plans - Essential US$2.1/Month, Standard US$3.5/Month, Pro US$7/Month

2061

UPDATE 2: New sign-ups and subscriptions are back! The Black Friday sale has also been extended (most likely for the next week), and you can still get an additional 7 days free by using any referral code. The service seems a lot more stable now with the increased servers and if you had an existing subscription, make sure to check your account as I've received an additional 60 days free for the downtime.

UPDATE: New sign-ups and payments have been paused by the developer while they wait for new servers to arrive. They have said the Black Friday sale will be extended because of this, but no word as to when sign-ups/payments will be re-enabled.

If you're planning to move away from Real-Debrid after their anti-piracy changes, TorBox are currently having their Black Friday sale with 30% off all their plans ending Dec 1.

They're currently having some server issues due to the massive influx of new users coming from RD, but are adding new servers tomorrow to handle the traffic and will compensate users for the downtime. I've bought a subscription and even with the server issues it seems to currently work fine for me with their Stremio addon.

The Essential plan should be enough for most people, and is cheaper than Real-Debrid's pricing. Also TorBox are based in South Africa unlike Real-Debrid and AllDebrid which are based in France, so are unlikely to shut down any time soon.

From their website:

All prices are already discounted by 30%, no coupon needed!

After December 1st, all prices will go back to their respective original prices.

The prices for subscriptions are for the first purchase only, the following months will be at the regular price. We recommend you purchase an annual plan to take advantage of this deal!

Payments stack! Take advantage of the discount by purchasing multiple months or years at once!

By purchasing before Monday, November 25th, you understand that the service is massively limited due to influx of new users and may not work as expected. Don't purchase if you expect everything to work perfectly right now. Please give us a few days. Thanks!

What is Stremio + TorBox/Real-Debrid?
In short, basically like a Netflix sub for US$2.1/month but with content from pretty much every streaming service.

What is Stremio?
It's an open source app similar to Plex/Kodi available on Windows, Mac, Linux, Google Play with over 10+ million installs. (4.2/5 rating). Most of the streams are 1080p/4K.

What is TorBox/Real-Debrid?
It downloads and caches torrent files remotely and then streams the content to you, so you never have an issue with ISP complaints. If you have a torrent link that is not already cached, you can add it to TorBox and it will download it for you and make it available to view in Stremio.

technicallyyyyyy you could be using this as a cache for legitimate torrents, and file shares.
The only legit torrents I could think of are Linux Distros and Archive.org

        • +2

Which is absolutely what all of us are using it for. What else are we meant to fill our OzB sourced NAS with?

        • You can get add ons for stremio to stream archive.org for free

  • +1

Great post minus the shameless referral plug.

  • i noticed it also offers usenet too… i wonder if it's anygood? Mine just auto renewed for a year with tweaknews, was about 90aud for a year, i wonder if i can kill two birds here with one stone?

  • +1

According to the dev, new servers come online around midday Tuesday 26th (AEST).
    Hopefully stability is returned

    • What ISP? name and shame :/

        • +1

Cloudflare Warp does the job for me getting onto some sites with no performance hit. Could it be a DNS-level block? could set it to Google's or CloudFlare's:
          https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/setup/windows/

        • DNS?

        • Oh damn, I'm with Superloop too - how do you know that they block it?

          • @poppingtags: i click on the link or search for the site and it times out

            • @LibreFish: Oh, that's weird - I can access the site and have purchased a subscription, its just not loading on Stremio. Might be a setting with your router, as @Vavoom has mentioned?

        • Just change your DNS server on your router. Use 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8

    • +1

I thought mine (Leaptel) was blocking it too but turns out I just had to add torbox.app to the allowed site list on my eero's router via their app.

      • Dang. Benefit of having a eero system I'm jealous of. Nest here and struggling to find that. Pretty sure I'm out of luck

  • Has anyone got theirs setup yet? Mine is giving me zero content via Stremio, even on very popular content.

Installed their add-on, as per OP's guide and paid for the standard plan.

    • +1

wait until after tomorrow midday, new servers are coming online.
lots of new users, not enough servers

      • I think I might be doing something wrong though, because the Torbox streams don't even show up as an option, where as other comments in this thread seem to have got it working.

        • +1

this is the official guide. If it doesn't work, try again when the new servers are confirmed operational. All else fails, open a support ticket on the discord server.

My setup (as configured above) doesn't work right now either, but it did before the RealDebrid announcement, so just hang tight :)

    • I’ve gotten mine set up, however no streams at all are showing up. Torrentio streams are coming up fine but no TorBox even after following the guide etc. Also using Google DNS so shouldn’t be provider block either.

Tried on two devices both running Stremio. No luck with either! Hoping it’s just the servers and nothing else!

  • +10

RD is working fine for me. All this asking for refunds and stuff isn’t helping anyone either. If it does in fact stops working, then we will see.

    • +1

      Great example of "panic-selling" 🤣

  • A friend says he uses jelly fin with an add-on some soft that can pretty much watch anything. And it's free. I can't remember the add-on name. I'm using popcorn time which has plenty sources. But some movies/series have no seeds. This one is tempting at the price to try. My library growing time.

  • Currently paying $15 USD for myself and 5-8 friends to have access to an Emby server with all content automatically added.

Still tempted to get this for fun though

    • How does that work? Thanks!

      • Plex, Emby and Jellyfin allow you to share your library with people.

There are services out there where you basically pay to be apart of someone's library and all media is downloaded by them. All you need to do is install the app, connect to the server and done. We split it a few ways and it's like $4 a month for every streaming service rolled into one.

I guess it's kinda like Streamio except you are streaming directly from one server all the time instead of whatever one RD picks for you.

  • Tried to migrate all my magnets over and they’re all pretty much stuck

  • +4

I’ve got 16 days left on my RD sub. I’ve also got 850 fidelity points. I’ll sub for another 30 days (includes 200 points) and then redeem 1000 points for another 30 days. That gives me about 2.5 months. After that, the dust should have settled.

RD + Torrentio is still working for me.

Premiumize is more expensive than RD but they do have their once per year sale on at the moment. Minimum sub for the sale is 2 years though which seems risky in this climate. I like RD’s maximum 6 month sub.

    • Same here I am on 2150 - enough time to wait and watch (no pun intended)

  • Do I need anything special to run this? Just download some app off the app store? My Android TV is a big laggy it could barely run Kodi, I'm worried about it not running this

    • +1

Stremio (or Kodi) + Add-on of choice (Torrentio or MediaFusion) + Debrid Service (Torbox is one of them)

That's the set up: an app, an add-on and a debrid service.

      • Thanks, so i need the combine all 3 to make this work for me. I thought all i needed was Torbox.

        • +2

Since you said your TV is laggy, you might want to buy a Fire Stick so you can sideload Stremio onto it. Plenty of guides online on how to do that.

  • I’m slightly overwhelmed here… my RD literally expired yesterday. Should I renew RD for a month and see what happens or jump on this?

    • +3

might as well do another month if it's still working for you.

    • +3

I'm sticking with RD for the moment

  • Can you use same account at two different houses on TVs?

  • -1

Are you trying to get TorBox shut down as well?

  • +1

Confirming replaced real debrid wigh torbox on POV on Kodi. Pretty easy and worked well.
    Watching Smile 2 right now!

    • Also replaced. Just having issues getting it to work. Addon and config fine on my phone but doesn't seem to log onto config on Nvidia shield stremio. Might wait a day or so and hopefully working after their server upgrade.

      • I had to reinstall my POV addon, then torbox showed as an option. I authorised but no hits on search. Restarted my firetv and all working

        • Added torbox using the manifest URL. Seems to be added now. Looked for smile 2 and no streams found. Perhaps another reboot.

    • Confirmed. Kodi and POV works.

    • -1

so, you need to have something like Kodi to use Torbox? It's not just like a TorBox app that i download and look at the catalogue in a netflix-like way and watch movies?

  • +6

Sitting back and watching all the panic over this has been pure entertainment. Has 2020 vibes about it.

    • Did you not participate in Torrentio going down last week?

  • Torbox encounted an error with this torrent

  • +1

Just be aware they haven’t set any servers/CDN up in the Asia Pacific region and they don’t seem to plan to have a local Aussie server like RD has.

    • +1

They’ve got plans to rollout an Oceana CDN next year

  • Mine just says addon torbox is still loading?

    • Getting same on stremio. Added Kodi and POV. Works there. Think another day or so for them to sort stremio side out.

    Unresolved Reports
    4 for Illegal/Banned Item

Lol, stop wasting the mod's time.

  • Sorry, noob question - does it support multiple devices with the same account? Like in Netflix if you start watching something on your TV you can continue watching it on your phone from where you ended before.
I stick with Netflix and Prime mainly because of the convinience that I can move between devices easily.

    • +1

Yes Stremio does that. It syncs and you can resume from where you left off. I watch Stremio on my train commute and resume on my tv when I get home, same as how Netflix etc works

      • +1

Thanks! That makes my decision easy :)

    • +3

Stremio works fine without a debrid service like this, you will just have more of a chance of your stream buffering. You pretty much just pay for the convenience of having to not have the reliability of content be dependent on how many seeder and leechers there are on that torrent. I personally have been using Stremio without a debrid service for many years and find it hard to justify the $43 for a year of this service, but I can certainly see why many people would chose to.

  • +4

    There goes AD

    https://www.reddit.com/r/AllDebrid/s/VGWw7eCE0I

Another reason for torbox, although my RD is working ok, and DMM is working on something

  • No wonder my RD Stremio has been lagging as hell. And I thought it was my internet acting up.

    Will try TOR now

    • So, is the essential good enough for 2 users watching 4K content?

  • +6

First rule of fight club, don't talk about fight club 😭

  • -4

    RD stopped working this morning.

    • +1

Still working as of right now. RD+ on Stremio. I haven't changed a single setting at all.

      • -2

Try Lioness, some not working, some still work.

        • Special Ops: Lioness (Sacrificial Soldiers) is working fine for me :)

EDIT: The other Lioness season 1 isn't working…. but then maybe noone else is watching. I didn't even know that it existed until now lol .

          • -1

@Bignudge: Try S1E6, the first one from ThePirateBay but some still working.

    • +1

      RD working great

    • OK Karen.

    • +3

Because paying less for something is always a bargain

      • -1

Just don’t understand why pay when you can have it for free

        • Because faster streaming and privacy

          • @superforever:

            privacy

            So everyone’s paying with cash?

            • @2025: Just don't want being tracked downloading torrents, it is that simple.

              • @superforever: Interesting, they say their servers are in South Africa, who coincidentally allow warrantless search and seizure of servers involved in the theft of incorporeal property. They can also compel providers to provide metadata that is either held or available - ie by turning on a log, so good luck with the privacy aspect I guess.

                • @2025:

who coincidentally allow warrantless search and seizure of servers involved in the theft of incorporeal property

Tracking you downloading torrents and warrantless search their servers are two difference things.

                  • @superforever:

Tracking you downloading torrents and warrantless search their servers are two difference things.

Indeed, no point seizing the server if it’s not logging your details, alas their government had though of that, hence the law can compel them to enable logging

        • +2

Don't have to pay for storage if all I do is stream

        • Free means many unnecessary steps. Stremio is just choose and play without waiting for torrents to download.

        • I don’t understand why people invest money buying tons of storage and a server to pirate either but each their own. People like to invest their time and money into it and some claim it’s free. I doubt anybody is getting pirated content completely free..

When it comes to streaming for free the free alternatives offer lower quality links, less likely to work for older obscure content and more likely to buffer.

    • and the quality of the content (HDR, remux) is generally better than any other paid service

  • +1

Can't sign up. Looks like they disabling sign ups.

    • +2

Statement from the Dev on Discord

TL;DR: new servers delayed (out of their control), so they are pausing sign ups until it's sorted.

Probably worth expiring the deal until it's sorted to not get people's hopes up.

  • +1

All Debrid just killed their third party integrations. Another one bites the dust :/

  • anyone know if TorBox plan can be shared to a second household for a relative (diff IP etc) in same city ? Or is it like RD that you’ll be banned and a big ‘no no’?

  • +1

Unresolved Reports, 9 for Illegal/Banned Item, those 9 people must upper-class.

    • tbf its against ozbargain TOS to post links to pirated goods/services

      • Most apps can technically be used in some form of pirating.

        • Didn't know I can pirate with Duolingo. Thanks!

          • @belongsinforums: I said most.

But alright you can learn languages
            with Duolingo.

Learning Hindi will allow you to watch more pirating movies; a common language for pirated movies.

Hence Duolingo can used to pirate more.
