  • Is there any plans for the combo to be backwards compatible with the K1 and K1 max like they said?

Members might want to read the comments in the lasts month's post which was the same price (Creality K1 Max A$999) so it's getting a bit spammy.

Yep, whenever it's a rep posting creality deals it is typically fake sales.

If you're set on a creality, check ebay deals when using codes for a real deal. Hopefully, you can snag them before Jack comes along.

  • What do people create with these apart from random plastic trinkets and nick nacks (or guns if you're American)?

Oh my. There's a beretta featured up the top of the page. Am I going to be on an ASIO watch list now?

We use them at work to produce various small parts that aren't otherwise available. Things like protective covers for equipment that even the manufacturers don't supply.

      • Makes sense. I can already imagine a few things I could make that would be of use (after seeing makerworld, thanks @impoze). I don't know that I'd ever make enough things to justify the personal expense.
Definitely for a business it could make sense.

        • +2

Once you have one you will find more uses for it

          • @impoze: The trick is to use it for things you need or want rather than just coming up with things to print because you have a 3d printer.

            • @banana365: Yep, but the thought process is now to check if a 3d irony exists before checking for spare parts

Or, like you said, design something completely custom.

        • Yeah, it paid for itself in the first few weeks. We've just ordered another to speed up production. Going with a Bambu this time to see what, if any, improvements it offers.

    • people can make statues and figurines of stuff they like, ie cars, battleships, naked women and so on

Im not knocking this product but i will give my experience with buying directly through this company. They will send out the product nice and neatly packaged, but in my case, when i pulled my k1 max out the box, it had a scratch down the side panel was the first thing i notcied. I could get over a scratch but the more i used it the more i realised it felt like a refurbishe mashine repackaged and sent out. They deny it but the facts were clear to me and i wasted so much time going back and forth i wasted my 30 day window for momey back with paypal. Facts i gathered:
    1. Older motors and pulleys
    2. Dust on rails as i removed it from the box
    3. Firmware didnt have the serial number embeded.

There weres no accountability for this and having gone back and forth, i would rather have paid the extra money and brought it locally. Less of a hassle. They did manage to send me out the new motors, new bed (that was way off) and motherboard to support the new motors. But the hassle i have to deal with all that was not a nice experience. The alternative was id have to send it back at my expense ($150 aus post) as their solution. Lukcily im confident and technical enough to fix things but for the hassle, im getting too old for this kind of hassle.
Aside from that, it is a decent printer and you can have fun with it, just be careful buying directly is all i can say.

I have moved on from tinkering. Now with my Bambu, I just print.

      • Yeah i think that is what i should have gone with too but unfortunately ive not been successfull at building the Deloraine πŸ˜€

    • I was afraid of exactly this when I was considering buying the k1 max last time it was on sale for $999. I ended up getting a price match from Jaycar. Much better experience.

  • No way I'd drop 2k on any Creality machine. You might get one that works, but you are just as likely to get a poorly built machine that will be a source of frustration and wasted time.

  • I had a K2 Plus and sold it recently. First impressions is that its a great plug and play printer that is getting closer to Bambu level… however… the frustrations come in after a week of using it. The biggest gripe I had was actually a search engine issue with their app and online space to search for models. When searching for something you never get what you keyed in. Instead you get all this junk that you constantly have to filter out. App slicing is shit, you can't even choose a build plate even though Creality makes other build plates that I actually did buy.. namely the Epoxy resin one. Print quality is good, however the CFS system is loud and cannot dry filament. I've ordered the Bambu H2D for a complete product.

I gave up on their slicer and went with Orca after only a couple of days. Much better.

    • A new leak is showing a larger bambu, single hot end. 350x350
