    • Same here. I added the card in the app but could not view the details. It said internal server error.

    • I am in the same boat can't see or add to apple pay. I would say they are going through and reconciling their issue !

    • -1

I am pretty sure it is all over by now if you haven't even added the cards.

      • +2

Well if you’ve paid for the card they either have to honour it or refund it.

        • Yeah that shouldn't be an issue. You just wont get the chance to try your luck with the extra ones should they decide to just shove it.

    • Same issue here. I believe it might be because of the duplicate card emails. Hopefully should be resolved soon, they are likely slammed trying to reconcile the purchases.

    • +2

      Email received from TCN

      Thank you for your email.

We’re currently undergoing scheduled server maintenance, which is affecting the ability to add digital gift cards to the TCN App or link them to a mobile wallet.

Our accounts team has advised that this issue will be resolved after 12:00 PM AEST on Monday.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding during this time.

If you need any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

      • “Scheduled”. Yeah I bet they scheduled maintenance really quickly after it shat itself haha

  • +10

Just got off the phone with TCN.

They have system maintenance occuring due to the volumes.

They said it would be fixed by 12pm Monday and to try again after that.

The error I received trying to view the details of my last gift card in the app is "Internal Server Error".

    • -1

Thanks for following this up and sharing the info with the community.

I too get "Internal server error" when trying to view the details in the TCN app.

    • Oh just saw your post after posting the email I received from them saying the same thing.

  • +1

Qantas points already credited. Instantly hit points club.

    • Same, worst case of all cards being refunded, still gain the qantas points

      • Nope, they can cancel your points too

        • -2

not if you transfer it to family and use it!

  • Does anyone know if these cards are supposed to work with Sniip? (other than the current issues with activation)

    • They should work. But the one card that I did receive is currently not being recognised. Unclear if this is a Sniip or TCN issue.

    • What would the advantage be of using them with Sniip?

  • +1

It’s working again… I can see card details in the app

    • Did you activate and add the cards yesterday or this morning?

      • I updated during midnight last night.

  • +4

They asked for phone number and said the link will be sent via SMS…3 hours later still haven't received a link

    • Same here, the original link to redeem the card no longer works either.

    • did you get the messages?

I bought 1 got 4 emails and requested for sms link as soon as I got email. Never got the messages and $500 hasn't been refunded on my credit card. What to do?

  • +1

Have been added to app without getting the text and now says "Oops! Swipe EAID is null" - on phone no idea what is up

    • I'm getting the same error. Can you update here with what they tell you?

      • was on call for 30 mins and then they hung up - website says system down till monday midday

        • Got through - said problem with app - IT is aware and hoep to fiox ASAP - no idea when really

    • Yes getting that too now

  • +4

I ordered 6 cards ($3000 total) and received 24. I activated some last night and the rest today. Managed to add all of them to my app and can view card details/add to Apple Wallet for all of them.

Very cautious about using more than 6 though, as I can only assume TCN or Qantas will cancel the extra 18 at some point, or come looking for the money if I spend it…

    • +1

too much fun. i ordered 35 and got sent 110 in total….. thats 55k worth lollll it felt like they are setting up a trap to put me in jail lolll

  • +1

Looks like Qantas have pulled every prepaid gift card (e.g. prepaid Mastercards) and every TCN card from their Marketplace. Fun times ahead…

    • maybe until TCN sort out their stuff.. will be interesting to see how they deal with all the dupe cards..

      • Agreed.

    • Legend.

This is going to be fun.

  • -2

Anyone successfully used a dupe card or cards???

  • +1

I would not be using cards that you know are dupes since it is stealing similar to spending money that was incorrectly deposited into your bank account. There are multiple cases of people being prosecuted. Just use what you actually paid for.
    .

  • I just received smss for all cards issued, even duplicate ones.

    • Just got a new sms also.
I’ve used the one I legitimately paid for.
Going to leave the others in my TCN app and see what happens. Don’t expire for 3 years, I can wait haha.

      • -1

Nay you used the ones that were sent to you in error. Gotcha fraudster!

  • +1

Can we just delete this post and pretend it never happened… 😇😅🥹

  • -2

Millions of dollars yes they will pursue you but couple of grand or even 20 grand are they really gonna chase you?

    • -2

Yeah. They have debt collectors to do that job.

Plus you can go to court for spending money that is not yours and risk a fine, jail time or both and pay court fees and lawyer fees for other party. Its the debt collector who takes you to court.

They can also ask/demand for interest on the spent money.

Honestly, its not worth the risk. The free money can end up costing you $30k+ cause corporate lawyers and courts aint cheap

      • -2

How about I bought a T-shirt from a store and they mistakenly sent me two, would I go to jail for wearing the second one?

        • Money is dealt with differently in the corporate world. They technically sent you free money which you are not entitled to and you know it was an error so it is wrong in a lot of moral principles. Also you are not only taking money from qantas, but also from share holders which they are entitled to more than you, and im sure we have many ozbargain shareholders and even you would have family or friends who are also shareholders.

In the case of the tshirt, its up to you if your honest enough to return it. For me, the free pair of shorts from the iconic and free asics shoes (from cancelled qantas deal), i havent worn yet because it feels wrong. Im yet to contact them to return them or donate them to charity.

Saying that, ive done alot of dodgy things in the past (that i regret now) so im not innocent, but ive recently had a few life events that have woken me up and now i see things more clearly.

      • +3

Qantas leaked personal information that isn't their's to leak. Who's going to jail for that one.

        • -3

There is a process for that, and if they are held liable, they are fined. Just like optus got fined

Optus has faced penalties and legal actions due to a significant data breach in 2022. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) fined Optus $1.5 million for failing to protect customer data and for public safety breaches. Additionally, the ACCC is seeking a $100 million penalty against Optus for unconscionable conduct related to the breach, which is subject to court approval. Class actions have also been filed against Optus, and the company is facing potential civil penalties from the ACMA.

          • -1

@easternculture: That fine does not do anything for the average joe who's information has been leaked and may have to deal with the financial consequences of that.

Qantas cheaped out on their own system here just like they cheaped out on cybersecurity. As a result they are going have to pay the price/headache of chasing everyone down. Well deserved.

            • -2

@abetastic: Its not qantas who will chase you.
Its TCN. Qantas only forwards the purchace order to TCN which is fullfilled by them.
In other words Vii Pty LTd who hold the financial license will be undergoing the debt collection effort.

Plus not sure why your arguing/discussing about money that is not rightfully yours lol

              • +1

@easternculture: You are clearly speculating here. All evidence suggests this is a Qantas issue.

If TCN was issuing $3 in cards for every $1 of revenue they received, they would have likely closed their store and/or cancelled all cards issued over the past 48 hrs. Yet they did none of that and only suffered from bandwidth related issues.

It was Qantas who decided to remove all virtual credit cards from their store. Therefore it was likely Qantas who had the issue. Qantas is on the hook to pay TCN, whereas anyone who used duplicated cards will potentially be on the hook to pay Qantas.

When you purchase an item from a 3P seller on Amazon, you are dealing with Amazon. If the item does not work, Amazon is the one refunding you.

                • -3

                  @abetastic: Not speculation.

Same thing happened with karta when ecconex forwarded customer details and karta issues 2 links per order (2 gift cards) instead of 1.

                  Karta cancelled the duplicates NBD.

Same system, qantas sends order fullfillment to TCN > TCN automated system issues gift cards > TCN sends to customer.

If TCN system is at fault, then its not a qantas issue.

If qantas was sending them 4 card requests per card paid, then its a qantas issues and they have to reinburse TCN.

But by the comments looks to be a TCN issus due to the inconsistency of the amount of cards sent i.e. some getting 3 per order, some getting 4 , etc

But no way they will let it slide. Based on clicks , my estimate would be at least 1000 orders (some with multiple $500) but for arguments sake lets say 1000 orders with 1 card each = at least 3000 duplicate cards = $1.5M to recover.

$1.5M these days is enough to put a company in voluntary adminstration if they have existing debts or loans

    • The salary cost to make a team to chase this up would be a lot cheaper than forefeit them.

Once the list is complied, all they need to do is ask nicely once or twice then debt recovery process.

I used to work for somewhere doing debt recovery for under $2k.

      • Apprently, they use chatgpt (AI) for that task.

Once the list is complied, all they need to do is ask nicely once or twice then debt recovery process.

      • I dont get the point about debt recovery if it's in a form of giftcards
receiving $50k of giftcards doesn't means I have $50k of cash to pay the debts?
Shouldn't they just void those extra giftcards rather than debt collections?

        • If you use them, its fraud as its not your money. If you dont, they will eventually get cancelled or expire .

Money comes in many forms and virtual crediy card is a form of money.

        • Obviously it's about when you used it.

It's like $1m balance showing up in your bank account due to an error.

If you don't touch it then yeah no worries.

  • So those that got extra cards did you also get extra Qantas points too?

    • No

  • Should we send an email to qantas marketplace customer care team regarding dupe cards received?

    • i dont think qantas has anything to do with the dup. if you really wanna make a call, call tcn instead. I would just wait patiently for them to initiate a convo

      • It is 100% Qanta's fault. TCN would already be all over this otherwise; they can't afford a screw-up of this scale. As for Qantas, what dups?

  • So has anyone actually paid something and cleared the funds from a fake card???

    • I'm sure someone would have tried. Would be intereresting to hear the outcome.

      • +1

        used all my

        • Bought 2 x 500, got 6. Activated and spent 3, and have $500 to cover the 3rd. 3 sitting in email unactivated

  • +2

I ordered two and received 8 , already used two.

Rest are added in apple pay

    • Bought 1 got 4 email. I could add three to TCN App and the 4th says already redeemed when I click the link on SMS.

In the TCN app, I can see the card details for only one and the rest to comes up with error - An error occurred retrieving card details and add to ApplePay button does not work.

      • Can you see the transaction history of the card which has been redeemed?

        • Could not add to the app at all..

        • +1

I tried my luck by re-clicking on all the URLs in the 4- SMS again. And surprising, I now can see all the 4 cards in the TcN App and also can see the card details for all 4 🥳!

  • -1

    asking from chatGPT

    Fraud typically requires:

    • Deception or misrepresentation, and
    • Gaining a benefit or causing a loss to another.

so by just adding to the app shouldn't consider as fraud, but spending does?

    • +1

Can't ascertain the intention of spending the money by the cards just added to the wallet. The defendant may claim to have merely followed the instruction for the extra msg.

      • -2

You think a magistrate is going to buy that if they take you to court

        • Adding to the TCN app or wallet doesn’t cause a loss to the issuer, only if the money got spent?

        • It's not even gonna make it to the court for money not spent. Was just commenting on how it can't be seen as an action of fraud.

  • The extra cards don’t have any value loaded when you click into them once added to the TCN app. You can look at the transactions and those legit ones have transactions such as “initial load”, “load activation fee” whereas the duplicate ones sent don’t have any transaction.

I bought $5k worth and have been credited 15k in my Qantas account and another 11k with my Amex Qantas ultimate card. Pretty decent result, especially if you had bills etc to pay anyway

    • -4

not true because i just laundered the whole lot through preeze ;)

worry not becasue i put my receipent name as Sanjay Parasher ;) if they every gonna chase me

      • +1

But I suppose your mobile number verified wih your ID?

      • +1

Boasting about money laundering and casual racism against Indians is so funny right?

      • If you registered with your real name to QFF, transferred pointa from a bank card or travelled and quoted the QFF number or supplied a mobile phone number, they will know who you are.

If so, what you did shows your intention to comit fraud

Also they can initiate a chargeback with prezzee to recover the funds and then prezzee will cancel the cards

        • I am pretty sure a chargeback (unauthorised transaction I presume?) wont hold water here. They might get Prezzee (and whoever they buy the cards from) to willingly cooperate and cancel whatever cancellable card but claiming unauthorised transaction on behalf of the cardholders(despite they obtained the cards for free) is a much egregious fraud.

And trust me, judging from TCN's handling of the who thing, there is not a slightest chance they are responsible for the issue.

    • This is not true as all my duplicates have the initial load and load activation fee.

      • Same, can confirm all the extra ones get the initial loads, thought I want to save from having trouble so will wait and see what will qantas / TCN will do first, don’t want to put my credit record and qantas frequent flyer account at risk

        • It is very likely that QF will instruct TCN to IA the unspent cards and recover whatever they can.

          • @timedzone: Well looks like they IA-ed all cards LMAO. Very zealous.

  • If you’re spending the extra cards, make sure you have the fund to cover it. If you don’t pay it back, 100% they will send to collection regardless of the amount. Would be funny to ruin your ability to get credit for a few grands.

    • -1

      Agree.

Key aspects of TCN's card network finance license:
      Issuer and Distributor:
While TCN is the distributor, Vii Pty Ltd is the actual issuer of the card and holds the necessary financial licensing to do so.

So Vii Pty Ltd will chase you for the funds since they hold the financial license

Andrew John Finch owns Vii and was a high Qantas executive

Andrew John Finch is also a Lawyer

Prior to Qantas, Andrew was a partner at Allens Linklaters in Sydney, specialising in mergers & acquisitions, equity capital markets, corporate governance and general commercial transactions, with a sojourn at Linklaters in London over 1999-2001 in the same practice areas.

      • +2

Lets see how the chase people who got extra cards on Monday.

Qantas is the same company who cheated customers by selling thousands of ghost flight tickets and TCN is a company who says they are financial institution but does-not have any 24x7 phone line to help customers in case of any frauds or emergency.

        • TCN are just the middle man.
You have to contact Vii (who hold the financial license) if any issues or emergencies

          • +1

@easternculture: As a customer, if TCN is who I pay my money to, TCN must ensure that the customer is protected. At the least their IVR line must have an option to direct the call to the relevant team/provider/financial. Currently it only says call when TCN phone support is available.

They don't make it clear like when I buy a Sony TV from JBHiFI, contact Sony for warranty.

            • +1

@TheMills: Unfortunatly thats how it works these days with payment/gift card fronts.

I once had an issue with sniip, when i contacted financial ombudsman, they referred me to the company that holds the financial license on behalf of sniip.

              • @easternculture: That is because Sniip is also not an AFCA member so they have no jurisdiction in dispute resolution. If you don't want to go through the CATs process it would be possible to chase after the FI who holds the money (I think it is BoQ for sniip?) hoping they would pressurise merchant into doing the right thing. However I don't think they are legally obliged to actually do anything, so it is more like a fast track channel for you to get in touch with high level executives at Sniip so they can resolve your issue.

        • TCN is not a FI (as in Australian Financial Services licensee). It is also not a member of the AFCA and you can't seek dispute resolution through AFCA with TCN. Any dispute between TCN and you would need to go through the courts as common law claims. Vii is unfortunately not either, so any issues relating to those TCN cards issued by Vii can only be dealt in court.

Besides Vii, some TCN cards are issued by EML, who is a member of AFCA.

  • +1

Update: Bought 4x $500 cards and received 12x $500 cards. Was able to link all of them to the TCN app and Google wallet today. They all seem to be loaded and have been activated according to the TCN app.
    Haven't used any yet.

    • does it mean you spent $2000 and got $6000 value gift cards which means $4000 free money?

      • +1

        Yes, that's right.

  • Got notification just now that all cards got cancelled and was auto removed from Apple Pay including the ones which was paid for correctly.

    • My extra cards have all been blocked, which is fine. But I’m unable to get the numbers for 3 legit cards, which is not fine.
