Have not seen $200 for electricity from the last few deals. Econnex has reduced the bonus.

    • I often see them as ad on my insta

      • $200 electricity bonus or just econnex ads?

      • +1

With Econnex Deals, can also choose a retailer offering BILL CREDITS, to gain more than that $200💰

At my location can choose Powershop $200 BILL CREDIT + Econnex $150 MasterCard for electricity!!

        • +1

How often can you get the Powershop bill credit? In their terms and conditions it does say "the market contract must be your first electricity market contract with Powershop for the premises you switch". So you can only get it once and never again at the same house?

          • +2

@Rodo: Think those T&C are clear - once.

Comment in earlier Econnex Deal that $200 was applied to account. But later removed!

            I like Powershop.
            Been with Powershop 7 times.
Powershop set up new account each sign up.
Received $150 Bill Credits earlier this year.

            Ownership has changed.
            Haven't tried again.

            • @INFIDEL: So you are eligible for the PowerShop bill credits the subsequent times you re-join also?

    • +1

Was only $125 for electricity in Econnex Deal a week ago.
      So $150 is an improvement!

Thanks for posting. Just got my gift cards from April deal (my first) and have switched a couple more times since! Getting hard to keep track haha

  • Has anyone received the electricity voucher from June??

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/910004

How do you follow up with them? I sent them a contact us last week, and no response yet

    never mind: found mailto:support@econnex.com.au

    • +3

Its too soon to have recived the one from June, likely to be sometime in October.

      • You need to stay connected 45 days from connection (not sign up).
      • Gift card is then sent 120 days from connection (not sign up).
      • Well, I was connected on June 17 (for electrify)

Time period between June 17, 2025 and August 14, 2025 (exclusive) equals to:

        58 days
        … or 8 weeks & 2 days
        … or 1 month & 28 days

        • +2

Based on that, you can expect the voucher around the 15th of October.

The Gift card (voucher) is then sent 120 days from connection.

        • same boat, wonder if it's safe to move out just after 45days?
the rate from powershop is so high, estimated $150 first then adjusted $250 ate all credit+rebate

          • @test8888: Yes it is safe. The Econnex T&Cs state that when you "stay connected for minimum 45 days" then you will receive the prepaid Mastercard from Econnex. You will receive the Mastercard "up to 3-4 months" after the date you initially connected. So you do not need to stay connected to the same provider to receive the Mastercard.

      April just received today

  • +1

Just got mine last night from the April signup.

Trying to figure out where to go next..

    • +1

did u get the right amount. I got $100 (instead of $175) for electricity.

      • +1

I previously received 400$ instead of 200$, if i knew abt you, i would have not returned them 200 back 😆

        • +1

might give them call tomorrow. from the other forum, someone else is on same boat as me.

          • +1

@s0805: Or just send them an email if not in rush, they do respond after a while. Also, they will send you the remaining in next iteration

      • Comments in other Econnex Deals that MC are sent out as 2 amounts in separate emails. Check for other email?

        • For the same utility connection, 2 separate amounts/emails you mean?

          • +2

@s0805: Yes. For electricity others reported they sent 2 separate MC in 2 email, which add to the full amount.

They used to send out Woolies gift cards in same way.

      • I got 150 for electricity and 100 for gas

      • +1

Are we supposed to receive $175 for April? I got $150 and didn't think too much about if it was correct.

        • Same for me, was expecting $150 also

          • @illz: lol…I got $100. They have no clue when I called them, apart from just wait.

            • +1

@s0805: Got call from them to call back. No details. I don't expect 5 star service but lot of time wasted already. Anyone else had amount corrected after initial low?

  • +3

Dang I just did it through CR this morning with only $100 cb for electricity and also required to stay for 75 days.

I'm handing out my ozb badge now.

    • +2

Can cancel that contract within the 10d cooling off period. A legal right.
"Once your application has been approved, you have a 10 business day cooling-off period if you change your mind."

  • +1

Due for a switch! Who to switch to at the moment?
Have already recently churned powershop, origin, engie, dodo.

Shame, just missed the 200+200 AGL offering:

Interest to know if its worth churning energy providers like this? Got solar and an EV and reasonbly high bills each month.

  • +1

Per T&C: Eligible Recipients will receive the applicable (Digital Prepaid Mastercard) Card/s by email up to 3-4 months after connecting to the relevant plan/s.

  • +1

oh dear, I just moved to Powershop to get $100 in credits for Gas….$125 to move to Alinta would have been better, but well, I guess I don't need to keep waiting for this GC and keep track of it in a spreadsheet (just received yesterday from my move in mid-may)

    • +1

Change after 45 days as Alinta rate so much better after first 20kj a day as Powershop is a set rate. Unfortunately I had a meter read 14/7 and might be stuck with Powershop until 14/10. At least I get $100 MC and $50 from Powershop ($32 used on first bill).

BTW, can’t you change now under 10 day cooling off????

      • I could technically change as I'm in cooling period, but saw that there was a credit check from powershop…so decided to let it go for a few months and then switch once I use up the $100 credit from powershop…otherwise risk getting another credit check

        • -1

I change every month - after a while, they stop credit checking.

People need to stop being afraid of credit checks, especially for essential services like utilities.

  • Switched electricity only on 8/8 in last Deal for $125

Received SMS yesterday that OVO are Billing me on 18/8 for $176 in advance for month when my usual bill for years is around $60/M. Totally outrageous 🤪

Cancelling that contract within the 10d cooling off period. As is our legal right.
"Once your application has been approved, you have a 10 business day cooling-off period if you change your mind."

And switch here for $25 more!
Will be glad to leave OVO!

    • Changed last month with the econnex deal. From what I read last time, it was 30 days minimum to stay to be eligible for gift card. Today I called econnex to double check and they said 30-45 days to be eligible which I thought was weird. I questioned why it was a date range and not a hard 30 day or 45 day and they said they don’t know. I’m at approx day 39 so I guess it’s safer to stay the 45. Have you had issues churning with econnex and not getting the $150 gift card?

      • +1

Always got the gift cards over last 5 years of switching with Econnex.

That expired 30d Deal was for all.
These new 45 d Deals are apparently only for Ozbargain.

Best to take screenshot of linked offer, with all the details. After it expires you can't access that page.

Contacting Econnex office isn't productive! As many have commented.
PM Manyo - the Econnex Ozbargain Rep

        • Got in contact with Manyo and they confirmed 30 days. Thanks for the info!

    • They base that off an estimate. If you use less than that, your account is in credit. I get charged $120, not only use about $80-$90, and my account is in credit that I can either store up or request a refund

Also, if you think that’s too high, you can call them up and speak to them to lower it

      • Yes, as I warned in last Deal

Usage is based on large family size of energy hungry households nearby. Which is definitely not my usage as a frugal single person.

OVOs very long T&C needed to be agreed to before switch

I switch regularly, staying just more than 45 days with many retailers.

OVO might work well for those intending to stay long term
But it's way too complicated for a short stayer like me.
Never seen so many things to agree to!

        Regretted that switch!

      • if you think that’s too high, you can call them up and speak to them to lower it

        Nice, in theory…
Took a lot of effort to lower estimate slightly - only time was with OVO. They didn't want to do it. Required sending previous bills.

OVO kept telling me how much better off I would be by not receiving unexpectedly high bills & bills would smooth out over time…

Promised there would be no Bill shock with OVO.
I WAS shocked by their bills!

They couldn't understand their bills in advance were astronomically high for my low usage!!

Found emails of my dispute with OVO when they failed to pay the promised 3% interest on overcharged balances. Could only receive the overcharge back.
        Not nice OVO!

Thought I'd give them another try.
        My mistake…
        Bye OVO!

  • Does anyone know much about the cooldowns of all the providers? Do they start on the day of the previous churn or the day of the previous approval?

  • -8

    did econnex stuff last time

it was ridiculously bad experience retailer doesnt get any information to tell customer
customer gets multiple enquiries from even just searching rates with AGL, and then the other retailer rejects application etc etc.

wont recommend anyone to this crappy econnex stuff staff their are also so so clueless for days.

  • +2

I just received my Mastercard vouchers totalling $300 from the last deal, 114 days after sign up. I called up a month ago to ask where they were and they told me I would receive them on August 15 (I got them on August 13). Note that the vouchers have a short expiration date of only one month.

  • I am with AGL and they're offering better rate when I signup using Econnex, can someone confirm if AGL will honour the new price and close the exisiting account?
Also, will Econnex honour the gift card?

  • I signed up in June with Powershop through this deal. I have done the requisite 45 days and want to switch because of Powershop's really bad rates for my postcode.

Safe to switch or should I chase a rep for the giftcard first?

    • You're not getting a card before October and possibly November.

      • I'm fine with the wait as long as it eventually arrives. If it's 'safe' to switch away, I want to do it sooner than later because of the really bad rates.

    • Can you get refund for unused Powershop Welcome credits before switching to another provider? I assume you haven't used up all the credits in 45 days.

      • I suspect not but I will have burned through the $200 credit anyway by the second statement.

        • Just make sure not to loose credits as their rates are already high.

  • +1

The wait time is becoming ridiculous now. I signed up for an offer at the start of May and was just told by support that I can expect to receive the card around 20 September. That's 140 days. I used to receive these cards bang on 90 days, we only need to stay connected for 30 days, and it was $200 every time. They are taking the #### now…

    • Same!

    • Just got mine from the May deal.

      • Yeah I got mine as well. It was 127 days after I signed up. My June sign up has just gone past 90 days, so it would have been nice to receive that as well, but it looks like it's another minimum 5 week wait if this is now the norm.

        • I also have the June promo coming in soon. Yep, around this time next month we should see them.

  • Just received my gift cards from the May promo. Check you inbox people.
