  • Free USB Extension Cable if You Own a Logitech Product

Seems to be for wireless keyboard / mouse receivers only, not any Logitech product as your current title indicates.

    • Yeah that makes more sense.

  • Well I submitted…see if fake or real

  • +1

I have a logitech MX5500 will see how it goes!

    • +3

IS that relevant? They are offering a bonus to all/select customers.

      • -2

They probably had some complaints over reception but ive used many logitech wireless devices and never had a problem. Even so, dont you guys have a couple of these laying around anyway? I know i do…

        • Even so, dont you guys have a couple of these laying around anyway? I know i do…

We don't care, but thanks for letting us know.

        • aaaawww snap

        • +1

          lying, not laying

  • seems like a lot of effort for a cable if they require proof

    • Just forwarded the purchase confirmation email, will see how that goes.

  • +19

A photo of the device, your passport and today's printed newspaper?

    • LOL, I don't know if they were joking or not, but that's actually funny hahaha

    • +1

I have your mouse. Send me a cable, or the little rodent gets it!

  • when i submitted the thing, it came up with this :
"Your request for a USB stand has been received and is being processed."
so is it a stand or a cable?

    • Was a bit confused by the sudden change in terminology, seems to be a cable with more plastic that will stay steady on a flat surface..

  • +3

    USB extension cable order form
    Thank You
Your request for a USB stand has been received and is being processed.

thanks OP. currently a wave keyboard and a trackball which both need there own receivers…. and only one stand…. bit of a PITA

edit: for those who dont know what this is i imagine its one of these http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQykwA30EHApaZ6DrEKG… .

same thing came with my wave, OP might pay to add this to your description

    • +2

Download the Logitech Unifying (I think it may have another name) software. You can then pair either the keyboard or trackball to the same receiver. I have that combination at work.

      • damn you got me all excited there for a second. my wave (its actually a wave pro if that makes any difference) is years old, before they made the unifying stuff. just tried with the unifying software and it says my keyboard isnt compatible

        thanks anyway :)

    • Hey that actually looks kinda nice… but I use wired procudts.

  • +2

Just FYI I received an email saying…

'Thank you for contacting Logitech about the USB extension cable to rectify the USB 3.0 issue. In order to complete this request, please provide a proof of purchase by attaching the proof of purchase to this email with your reply'

  • +2

i found this which i think explains the issue and mentions the extender cable: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/…

so if you have a wireless logitech product you can claim

  • +1

    Thanks LSP

The irony of this deal, free cable if you own a wireless product!

    • +1

The cable is not for the mouse itself, it's for the receiver. If the receiver is blocked by your case, or some distance away the signal will be choppy.

For me, if I have the receiver plugged into the back of my case, it's not very useable. That's where the USB extension comes in handy.

  • Harmony is wireless

  • +1

If only Bigpond offered the same deal :-D

  • i bought a cheapo ebay cable male to female usb for the receiver, didn't look nice at all

if it's the one with the stand, would look great for my receiver :)

  • Ive thrown 3 logitech wireless keyboard/mice combos in the bin in the last month. All purchased at the same time. Not going to buy their crap anymore, too much fails after 3/4 years.

  • Oh. My. Glob!

  • Bought my M950 from logitech shop however it only has a P/N no PID. That's interesting, maybe it's not a genuine logitech product or something?

    • Did you open the battery compartment?

      • Yeah, that's how I found the P/N number. Looked online, there is supposed to be a PID for the Performance MX mouse so yeah we'll see how that pans out as it's the Australian version, might not have one.

    • I bought mine from there too, but I had all 3 numbers they needed.

  • i have a k400r what number is the p, and what number is the pid? It would be helpful if they indicated this…

  • +3

In true Ozbargain spirit I have lodge my claim for a freebie from Logitech which originated from a freebie 2 years ago almost to the day (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38616). A double freebie hopefully

    • Thats exactly what I did, I even ebayed one pair of them off for more than they cost at office works

  • -6

Need to upload receipt, a lot of effort to find receipt..

    • +1

Wouldn't that means you are lazy and does not deserve a deal?

      • +2

Actually, I agree with him. Who still has their receipts from 2-3 years ago?

They could just ask for a serial number, which everyone has easy access to.

        • +1

You would think entering a P/N, M/N and PID (Serial) was enough. Requiring an additional receipt is excessive. For a cheap item like keyboard or mouse, who keeps the receipt after 2-3 years?

The Original form does not stipulate the requirement to upload a receipt.

"Simply fill out the form below and we’ll send you a USB extension cable."

Cannot find anywhere on the site.

        • I have uploaded my paypal receipt to see if they accept it as proof of purchase, was like 2 years ago from a legit online logitech store

        • +1

If it's Logitechshop, log into your account and all your purchases and invoices are there for viewing. I just took a screenshot of it and sent them the jpg.

IMO, requiring a receipt is excessive. You've got 3 part numbers to give them, which presumably cannot be seen on the back of the box at some OW store (must look on hardware itself) so you can't just go submitting P/Ns for items you don't own. Or they could do a unique check and if someone else has submitted your number, you're not eligible.

Anyway, I had 1 of 2 receipts so I should still get 1.

        • Yeah, I agree with him. I still have my receipt, but it's part of a big order, don't want to upload that.

I like companies who ask for some proof like 3 sets of numbers and that's it.

Samsung and Namco are good like that.

Rockstar terrible and sometimes Sony are. One time Rockstar asked for pictures of the product, receipt, pictures of individual items etc.

        • +1

I've kept every receipt for logitech products I've ever purchased. Doesn't help with warranty though because logitech are useless.

        • Tax purposes

    • +2

I scan all receipts for electronic and household equipment so that I can keep trace of warranty info easily.

      • Me too. The slight inconvenience of scanning every receipt (I even do it for supermarket receipts) has paid off for me more often than not.

I also scan the instruction manuals for things if they may be needed later on. Then if the manual is lost or damaged, there's a copy on the computer.

  • sif i even have my receipt -_-

  • +1

Stupid question but: Are there USB2 and USB3 extensions, and can you use the USB2 extension for a USB3 harddrive wihout any loss in speed?

    • Good question. I might upload my receipt after all.

    • you need a specific USB 3 extension as you will not get the USB 3 speed with a USB 2 extension. Noddy.

    • USB3 is 8 wires, USB2 is 4 wires. USB3 is backwards compatible by making connection with half the wires so it can never be fully compatible with USB2 cables.

    • Thanks guys, you're the best!

  • Now outta stock:

Thank you for your interest in a free USB extension cable from Logitech. Please note that this offer was only valid while supplies lasted, as stated on the order form. We regret that the cable is now out of stock and we will not be able to fill any more orders. This offer is now closed.

    Best regards,
    Logitech Customer Care

    • was about to post same thing. Ozbargained!

  • +1

So how hard would it of been to withdraw the offer before asking for another email for proof of purchase. I have dealt with logitech customer care before and the amount of hoops they made me jump to get a cheap faulty keyboard replaced was very petty for a large company like logitech. Ok products(mostly)but shit service.

  • Getting my third MX5500 in the next couple of days :(

The first double clicked for single click.

The second randomly repeated MANY times.

Asked for a refund but they sent ANOTHER MX5500 :(

    • is your receiver in direct line of sight with the mx5500? (not hidden behind the computer case or anything)

ive had that exact issue and its always been caus the receiver isnt getting a strong enough signal, both with logitech and other branded 2.4ghz wireless stuff. if the receiver is close/line of sight its fine.

  • Yep sorry guys, seems like they ran out.

Seems id was Reddited before it was OzBargained, it was posted there a day earlier.

  • +1

Bummer and I went to all the trouble of finding my receipt, scanning and emailing. Then they come back with the no stock message. Not happy.

    • I didn't mind jumping through hoops and filling out the form, but wasn't happy rummaging through 6 months of receipts for proof of purchase at 4 am, only to then be denied. I wonder if anyone got accepted via the OzBargain deal?

  • I sent them profanity. Not sure if my account didn't exist or whether they've disabled it, but I don't care.

  • +1

Got the out of stock response even thought I submitted the form and receipt pretty much as soon as this post went up. Seems like a cheap excuse to me. I reckon there were no cables to begin with.

    • me too, this was a dodgy event to datamine logitech customers

i don't get why ppl vote positives when no aussie will benefit from this american deal.

    • Same as me…

    • yep…. sounds dodgy to me too.

i registered pretty much straight away as well- but also got cancellation email.

bloody logitech- plus vote removed from deal, sorry OP.

    • +1

I got the same thing. At least it saves me the effort of digging through my receipts for the keyboard and scanning it.

  • -2

Also Out of stock for me… I have to Neg…

  • same email here…luckily didn't bother finding/getting receipt first up

  • +2

Ahhh…for once not being bothered actually worked in my favour lol

  • I got the email saying send receipt, then another saying their out of stock… Logitech are a bunch of monkeys…

    • They're hardly "Logical" aye lol

  • No-one has reported being successful in ordering one, yet.

  • this is ass…

  • Yeah I submitted it and gave my receipt on Friday. However, was told today that they are out of stock. Seems like a ploy to get some serial numbers registered…

  • For one I am disappointed in Logitech for not implementing a quantity limit on their web based form but rather letting users continuously submit their information to Logitech in hopes of receiving the promotional item.
