Don't forget you can use the coupon: WELCOME5

works out as $101.50 (ex. delivery)

  • Thanks commenters, I've updated the main post with the new info.

    Dang. Got it for $166.

    • Dang, got it literally 1 month ago for $211. Was for a pressie. :(

      Great camera though…

      • +2

It's better that way because you don't have to look at the camera everyday thinking you'd paid double the price.

        • ha ha so true,
but now if the "giftee" were to look up the price, she'd think it's only a 100 $ :-(

  • Doh! Wish I didn't run around trying to price match JB Hifi last weekend! Got one and was so excited… now its $60 cheaper again!

    • +2

Those who got it at $166, maybe you could return it?

Some credit cards offer price protection insurance if you pay for it.

      Good camera!

Mine has survived everything from balmy Queensland waters to the frigid arctic -16 degrees snow.

      • Isn't price protection if the same store discounts it?

  • +2

dupe post anyway. By the way, the Borther Mono Printer is such a good deal

  • Thanks OP! Got one for my dad to take on his boat :) He'll love it.

  • awesome, bought one, thankyou

  • Just picked one up! Great deal.

  • +1

get one, and thinking to get another one.. need to save money for HTC One

  • Tempted, very tempted. My friends 'indestructible' camera came with a cool case that velcros onto your backpack strap and secured with a bungie cord. Anyone seen a cheap case for this one?

  • sweet! ordered. No stock in Sydney martin place, but on back order.

  • Darn. I'm another person who got it for $166, and I've already opened it… would buying a new one at HN then returning that new one to JB Hifi work?

$60 is 6 hours of work for me… well, it was when I actually had a job. :(

    • don't see why that wouldn't work. Just make sure the new one matches the details on the JB receipt. Job done

    • -1

not sure but when I have purchased stuff from JB they scan a barcode on the actual box.

my guess would be they would do the same when taking the camera back but the barcode wont match up

so I guess you have to put a camera in the JB box and return

      • +1

barcodes are identical for same products
its the sticker barcode (serial number) that differs but they dont scan that

  • Page just got deleted, Harvey NoMan fails

"Sorry, we couldn’t find the page you’re looking for. It may have been removed or no longer exists."

  • Missed it by that much…

  • +1

Dang. Had it in my basket, but hesitated as I already have an (older) TX-5 that has been a great little camera….

    • I concur Ive had a tx7 for a few years. But I got an order in here in time.

  • wow i just missed it to, i still gave the webpage tho

  • Page still opens but can't add to cart. I doubt the stock is finished.. I was going to pick up and was pretty sure the 3 stores closest to me had stock there.

Technically I should be thanking HN for this happening cause I didn't really need it..LOL. I was going to buy this because to me it would be like an umbrella… doesn't really get much use but when I need it, I am VERY thankful I bought it. :)

  • They did the same with the Samsung camera deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94752 . Once the shops had run out of stock they took a few back orders and then pulled the page.

  • Anyone who chose to pickup from store received a "ready for pick up" email? I ordered mine over half an hour ago, but still haven't received it yet.

  • Awesome price! Shame I have had one water proof camera already.

Guys you can still order it at local stores. I called around both stores had stocks but I didn't pull the trigger eventually.

  • Got a call from local HN, said that they don't have stock in store and not on back order, so asked me to refund. Ordered around 2pm and also got order confirmation. Annoyed!

  • price error again?! cannot open the webpage even.

  • Ordered online at around 2 and just got an email saying my order was delayed. ETA 20 days.

  • +6

For those who are waiting on Harvey Norman to supply a tax invoice for your order don't be surprised that your order gets cancelled and you get called "professional shoppers".

    • they don't supply tax invoices?

  • Just picked up one instore at HN Joondalup WA. Still about 6 in stock - 1 black, 3 blue, 2 pink. The staff couldn't believe that was only the 1st one they had sold today at that price.

    Thanks OP

  • I too got the email saying it will be a 20 day delay. The store I picked for pick up was showing in stock when I ordered. Thought i could just order, and then head over to the shop straight away. Not impressed.

    • HN service is pretty poo agreed. Probably the worst customer service of any business I've ever used.

  • Store stock in Malaga, WA. I've just bought one, still a few left as I speak…thanks OP!

  • +1

There are a few left at everton park (qld)

  • Any stock in Melbourne ?

  • -5

why is this so popular, you people really find yourselves taking a lot of photos underwater?

    • +1

For the money its a great camera, in or out of the water. I already have one (paid $166 at JB) so I got a HX20 for $174, probably a better deal. Both great cameras. Its as good as it gets for $106.

    • +6

Can take to beach & not worry about sand getting into it. Can take it with you when playing sport, and not worry about it should it start to rain. Can give to kids, and not worry about it being dropped. Can take to the snow, and not worry about that. Heck, took it to the local pool the other day, and didn't think twice about taking it down the slide in a raft. Basically, it's 'life proof'. It's also slim and light - so easy to slip into a pocket, and doesn't look like a rugged camera that can sometimes look like they were made by Fisher Price. It's not perfect - picture quality can suffer a little because of the glass in front of the lens, the sliding cover can get grit in it, the finish scratches easily, but overall it's not bad. I shudder to think the treatment my old TX-5 has suffered without missing a beat.

    • Not just water; dirt, dust, sand, mud, sitting on it, etc.

Rugged cams mate, as opposed to ones you're babying constantly with delicate zoom lenses and associated nonsense that you're frightened you'll damage easily and therefore hardly ever take out of your padded bag.

  • Any kind soul can forward me the order confirmation mail/ or have a screenshot of the Harvey Norman Price, I would need for a refund if possible on my JB Hi-Fi purchase.

Was there any ads on any newspapers on the TX20 ?

  • You will find that JB wont price match as HN have no stock

  • +1

This is the camera that is currently $99 at Costco in their latest specials book. They had none left at Docklands on Friday, but I believe they were taking rainchecks at that stage.

Current Costco specials with this camera, item 23228 at Costco… http://loadedtrolley.com.au/costco-australia-february-2013-c…

    • Damn it, I was just there on Friday and didn't even bother looking at cameras. I have the coupon book here and it also comes with a carry case and a 4GB SD card. Superb value for $99 if that's the camera on special.

  • Any stock in Sydney? Rang North Ryde and the instant response was no.

Any one getting the good guys et al to price match?

    • Kathleen at North Sydney JB sorted out a price match for me over the phone. She rang HN and then rang me back before I left my armchair. Black and pink (ugh, its very pink) left in stock. Bondi Junction HN do have them in stock even though they aren't showing up on other store's computers.

  • Here is the list you may want to check out that they are still listed as in-store.

  • Just rang Aspley, Brisbane; they have 2 each of Black and Pink as of about 10 minutes ago

  • just got one thanks great camera for the price
    devonport tasmania

  • Bought one on backorder this morning at HN City West Perth. Now I just hope they can get more in stock!

  • I ordered one yesterday, just waiting on the store to let me know when I can pick it up …

  • Picked up 2 from geelong and they still had some left :)

    • with a third you can juggle them (assuming you throw them no higher than 1.5m in the air and drop them onto 5cm thick plywood) or accessorise with the camera that matches your wardrobe.

      • lol reference to the manual

  • Got JB to match in Brisbane (local HN out of stock). Will be good for skiing I think. Can't take the DSLR and don't want to ruin my phone with a stack. Now not sure whether to get goggles with a built in camera, or a GoPro.

Not mentioned as freeze proof on the box, but says down to -10C in the manual.

    Top find.

This camera's weakness - to me - is that sliding cover; potentially a real problem.
    But the price is good.

All other rugged cameras dispense with this sliding cover and they are better for it (take a look at the Panasonic Lumix waterproof range, for instance).

The Panasonic TS25 is due out soon; looks like prices on these things are dropping, though still not as low as this deal.

Keep in mind the Panasonic TS25 is a new release available now with other colours coming in March; the potential for further price drops is high (and expected) as the months roll on.
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/910514-REG/panasonic_d…

If Hardly Normal weren't Hardly Normal, and if they weren't in such low stock and insisting on your blood type when backordering (and yet they still don't guarantee stock when backordering), I may have bought one by now but nah, not worth it to me.

    Good deal regardless.

    • I actually picked this camera because of its sliding cover. Obviously I will know in a few days when the wind dies down, but I'm hoping the cover will stop droplets hitting the lens.

    • You hear lots of "potential problems" with the sliding cover, has anybody ever had a "problem"?

      • Quick review on Amazon I found:
        By Cougarbait33

After a 20 mile, 3 day whitewater kayaking trip in the back country of the Big South Fork Nat'l River & Recreation Area, I can say that I have pretty thoroughly testing this little camera and I love it. Sand, mud, dirt, etc. can get in behind the sliding cover, which will cause scratches if you don't clean it properly. Instructions are provided, and submerging in clean water for 5 minutes effectively cleared the grit. It is VERY small, which I love for portability, but I can see how it would be cumbersome for folks that are "all thumbs". Photo & video quality are great for such a compact, waterproof camera, and in full auto mode it does a good job with metering and exposure. Obviously, there are loads of point and shoot cameras that will take better photos, but for me this is a beach/river/back country camera for those times when it isn't practical to bring a better camera. It has an awesome macro function that lets you get extremely close to your subject, and the auto-pano function works great and is really fun. I'm still getting used to the idea of carrying a camera with me in my kayak and not obsessing about keeping it in a pelican case the whole time! I highly recommend a floating camera strap to go with it in case you drop it in the water… it's water proof, not sink proof! I snagged the chums camera strap and it works great. I don't expect it to last forever, but I'm hard on gear and will happily put this little unit through hell until it gives up! :-)

I'm sure there are more; I couldn't be bothered looking.

Anything that slides or moves needs some sort of lubrication and eventually adds to wear and tear of the device. It may or may not hold up, hence "potential problem". And as we can see from that review, if you don't have a chance to clean it, you could damage it by just enjoying yourself on the beach or whatever and closing it or opening it.

        Potentially. Not saying it's guaranteed.
But common sense dictates that a slider would be more susceptible to mechanical failure or damage (and trapping dirt) than not havinig one. Then again, some might like that it covers the lens glass and see that as an advantage.

        • Good reason not to buy one then….

        • im pretty happy with mine, taken it for a swim, daughter has dropped it and still working fine, image and video quality is much better than i expected. thumbs up!

        • I also have one, its a great camera and there's nothing better out there for $106.50 (though I paid $166 from JB).

  • damn you ozbargain, i ended up buying 2, well picked up 1 pink one and back ordered another! the pink one isnt that bad hehe.

  • Damn HN (was this an online sale only?)
Visited my local HN on Saturday morning specifically to purchase this camera, price was $219 + 10% discount.
Then went to Costco, sold out but allowed me to raincheck the camera. $130 but also includes 4GB SD card and case.

    • But with the coupon it should be $99, so why were you charged $130? Did Costco tell you how long the wait would be?

      • Wasn't sure whether the advertised price of $130 included the $30 coupon deduction or not. Wasn't too concerned as at the time I thought $130 was a fair price (I know this statement goes against OzB rules).
I did ask how long the wait would be but the guy couldn't give me a definitive answer, [quote] shouldn't take longer than a month [unquote]
Thoroughly reading the comments above, the Costco price with coupon is $99.99, I don't feel so ripped off now ;)

        • Received a call from Costco today. They can no longer get this model so they are swapping this for the DSC-FT1 which still includes a free case and the 4GB memory card, and still $99.

Best thing is that Costco isn't sitting on my payment, I'll pay when I go to pick up from the store. HN held onto my money for over 2 weeks and delivered nothing. Take note HN.

  • I've been told a refund will be organised as no stock is available. Not good enough!

    • I've not received anything other than my order confirmation and the paypal receipt (for an in store pick up) but I won't be surprised if I get notified that I'll get a refund. I find Harvey Norman are hit and miss with this sort of thing. I had to chase them last time they couldn't supply something to get a refund. It wasn't an automatic thing ;0(

      • Yeah been stung by them before on the GT7.7 tablet deal.

What are peoples order numbers? There must be at least some stock available?

        Mine is 70014313x

        • Do you think people that went into the store and back ordered and paid for the camera, will have priority over online orders?

        • ill let you know cos i paid and back ordered one in store

        • You still had to pay when you ordered on line, but knowing Mr Harvey he will sell first to those that didn't claim the $5 discount.

  • Is there any use trying to negotiate to get an equally priced/spec camera instead of a refund? I really need a waterproof camera ASAP!

    • I ended up getting no joy from HN so when refund came through bought this camera at JB

Ended up being $146 so not quite as good a bargain but at least HN didn't get my money!

  • If they don't honour this I will just have to go to Costco and get a raincheck.

    • +2

Was at Costco docklands tonight and bought one. No raincheck required. They only had black. Better deal than HN if you are a Costco member with the case and memory card.

      • whaaaaaat :) thought they were out of stock, gonna run tomorrow & pick one up, cheers for th info Shopwisely ;)

        • They were out of stock on Friday. They often get more in for their own warehouse or the suppliers part way through the sale period. Happened with the portable hard drives in the last sale, only they well and truly sold out after the second batch and wouldn't take rainchecks. Better get in quick.

        • Just made it back from Costco, got a Slip to take & pay at the counter (which I did), then headed to merchandise pick ups and was told that the very last camera had just been sold a few minutes ago :( on the bright side I did get a raincheck but they weren't sure when they would arrive, they did mention they had a few of these cameras at the back but without the extra SD card and carry case.

        • Thats rough but like you said on the bright side you got a raincheck. Hopefully it arrives sooner rather than later.

  • I saw a post above about their confirmation email saying 20 days. Is that right? Mine says 5 days.

  • Just had a call from my local HN saying that they could not get stock for my online order. They offered me a choice of Fuji XP50 or The Olympus TG320 as a substitute, but after looking up some reviews of these two I think I will just take a refund.

  • The TX20 is a discontinued model as it will be replaced by the recently announced TX30. If HN does not have stock on hand, chances are they will not be able to fulfill their orders. I remember something similar happen a few years ago on another Sony T camera which they had advertised as special as it was a run out model. Some HN were willing to take rain checks but estimated time of delivery was a few weeks and at the end, they did not received any stock at all.

  • Has anyone had any success with back-orders? I got an email saying pickup should be ready in approx 10 days…but expecting a phone call soon telling me that the product is out of stock.

  • Over the weekend tried HN, but they were out of stock.

Went to JB today and the guy said he could have price matched it only for the line "This weekend only it's $106 at Harvey Norman."

Hope something similar will come up again.

  • Just got this from Gerry…

After trying to source the product from all avenues that you ordered with us recently
we are unable to supply. We do value your business and advise you that we will credit
this invoice for purchase against other goods or alternatively offer you a refund.

WTF is this? Store credit? Lol No thanks.

    • yep, I also got that email this morning.
Sounds awfully suspicious. Wonder what the ACCC will say?

EDIT: they've already been done for it in Western Australia in the past
      http://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/six-harvey-norman-franc…

      • Take our money, place in high interest account for several weeks = profit

        • I have not received this email regarding my order being cancelled. The only comms I received was saying my order was delayed. Was anyone sent a camera or was this a scam all along?

        • +1

I'm just letting people know my camera arrived today via Australia Post ie dumped on top of my mail box. It says it was shipped from Mt Gambier. Was I one of the lucky few to have got one? Either way an OK result even if a little delayed.
