Still better than 20 tags for $20 deal….

This deal is cheap but I still prefer my free Sony tags :D

      • So how did you get them free? Did they come with the phone?

  • Thanks for posting, 5 of these should be enough for around the house

  • Well, I bought in. See how we go!

  • Bought 5, paid with CC. $5.10 all up delivered :)

  • +1

I normally would use llama to do all my context switching stuff. But my wife just got an android phone and I can now see how these little dohickey's might make life easier for her (and me as a result :D).

  • anyone know if its possible to use a tag and specify it to connect to a specific blue tooth device instead of just enabling blue tooth?

    • It should be possible to do. You'd probably have to have paired the device beforehand so that each of the devices know each other though. And then it will depend on how smart the NFC command writing program is. I haven't messed with NFC yet so I can't say for sure but theoretically it shouldn't be difficult :)

  • sorry at work cant check youtube, but what can i do with this if only me have galaxy note 2 in the house (other members on iphone)

    • +6

You can program the tags to instruct your phone to change settings when you go in/out of the house with a tag by the door. Ie, turn off wifi, enable 3g/4g data, enable bluetooth. You can have a tag in your car, which tells your phone to enable bluetooth, streaming music to head unit, turn on navigation/gps. Basically any context based commands could be programmed into the tag more examples here: http://lifehacker.com/how-to-automate-your-phone-for-every-r…

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/109308#comment-1484707
implied that the NFC reading and action taking app is always active.
Is this the case on android devices or do you still need to open the NFC reading and action taking app each time you want to read a tag?

      • To what you said, does it mean the NFC will bypass the locked screen (invisibly) and change the setting?

        • Depends on the phone. Typically no, but if you root your phone you can use it a lot of the time.

  • not bad. I originally tried to buy these earlier today when I got their regular email. However shipping came to ~$12.

  • Got 10 for $10.20 delivered - thank you :)

  • Sounds cool.
Bought - Worth playing around with for $5.10

  • Hi, I got one of these at the $0.75c deal.
It said there it works on the Galaxy s2.
But I read somewhere the Australian S2 does not support NFC.
I havent had the chance yet to play around with it.
    Can someone confirm.
I have the GT-I9100 - 3G version (apparently in the US there was a 4G version of the S2 and it worked on that).
If you google "samsung galaxy s2 nfc au" you will see some people say it does not work, but a few say it does.

    • my voda s2 don't have nfc.

    • Would be real_Cool nfc became standard to smartphones like wifi & tooth; only I don't like my chances it arriving for my next handset .. Chinese generic@any times soon. :/

      it clearly says free delivery

  • thanks OP. very useful item and good price.

  • +2

I'd love an NFC enabled phone. My plan is to have these on the entrance to my house and work. So i can tag on and off (timesheet purposes) as well as trigger events like wifi off.

    • +1

I like the way you think Davo1111 :) Would you use this to do it?

    • How would you timesheet?

      • I'd have it email an account with the time stamp and event. Then at the end of the month go through the emails.

        Or just use wicket1120's method.

  • Got me some of that Uber Nerdy stuff … Thanks!!!

  • Thanks $5.10 with CC.

  • +1

No Paypal :( , site layout doesn't inspire a lot of confidence for me to use the credit card. So I used direct deposit instead, nevertheless a good deal!

    • +1

they been around forever as has their site :)

  • Bought one. Thanks.

  • I just bought 2 packs, let's hope I actually use them!

Thanks! Brought with Direct Deposit to save the 10c :)

  • Will it work to do wireless charging with s3, recently bought nokia wireless charging pad from dse anyone please tell me.

    • +1

No, this is not for wireless induction charging. Think of this like a card that you can put information/commands on (eg. when tapped turn WiFi on or it could hold contact information).

    • +1

you want a wireless charging card,
kogan sells them but no stock atm

  • mad! I had some points from this site from HDDs I purchased at the start of the year! got these for a couple of $s!

  • Does anyone know whether these can work with the iPhone iCarte cover (possibly with the NFC Actions app or some other app)?
    The iCarte device specs
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/107360#comment-1456774
say it is compliant with ISO 14443A/B but I'm not sure how that translates to NTAG203 Type 2.

This site offers to sell NTAG203 Type 2 Mifare 1K tags for iPhone & Android
    http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/711601011/ntag_203_nfc_tag…
but I'm not sure this means all NTAG203 Type 2 would be able to be used or not.

  • Thanks OP, didn't know what these were until I saw this post. Now I can't wait for them to arrive.

  • thanks op.

  • Cheers op

  • great. Got some. Let's hope they work with my phone

  • One review: I installed some NFC tags for just this purpose, to silence our phones when we went to bed, but found there were more steps involved than doing it by hand: 1. press power button, 2. unlock phone, 3. touch phone to just the right spot on the nightstand where the NFC sticker was, 4. I think I had to tap something to confirm, vs. 1. press power button, 2. swipe down on screen for notification panel to come down, 3. press toggle at top of notification bar to set phone to silent/vibrate.

We stopped using the NFC tag because it was easier/faster to just change the setting 'manually'. I've yet to find really useful ways (for my life) to use the NFC stickers, still have a bunch left.

I really wish there was a way to set certain tags/stickers/settings on your phone to respond to NFC tags WITHOUT the phone screen being on/unlocked.
People said it is possible if you root your phone.

    • Works best if you can setup to send an SMS to your lover that you are going to sleep and then silencing it so she knows not to call.

      i.e. Multiple options.

  • Good deal also had some rewards points with itech :)

My order is still sitting on 'Allocating'. How about everyone else?

    • I paid with direct deposit and my order has Allocating status too.

    • Same…. still in allocating

  • My order is awaiting payment, yet they have already charged my credit card and it has gone through.

I call them and email them, they just give me a generic response saying there was a keying error with my credit card.

Looks like charge back time, bloody annoying, not dealing with them anymore.

  • +2

    Allocating as well for me.

Has anyone received the stuff from them yet at all? Or do we have to waited for a few months for the cargo ship from China to arrive?

  • Took 4 days for "Awaiting payment" even though paid by Credit card. Such a stupid system. Now on "Allocating" transaction status.

Its been 7 days, bloody slow service. Ya definitely not dealing with them anymore.

  • I received my tags on Wednesday. I paid via CC.

  • +1

Stuck in Allocating…… lalalalala might as well ordered from china!

  • +2

I queried i-Tech about the delay. Here is the reply.

Thank you for your enquiry. In relations to your order of NFC smart tags. We had 500 in stock but have sold over 4000, which is a lot more than anticipated. We are expecting more stock to be due in next week. As soon as we receive them, it'll be dispatch to you ASAP. Alternatively if you're not happy with the wait, please advise me and I'll organize a full refund. We're sincerely sorry for the delay and inconvenience.

    • +2

If I knew that they don't have enough stock, I would have canceled my order and bought the one from CPL for 75 cent each.

  • If anyone based in Sydney (lower North Shore/City) has NTAG203 tags already, I would really like to try the iPhone iCarte cover with them in the next week to determine if they work or not.
Can you please PM me if you can assist with this goal.
I would like to report the outcome to the wider world and my deadline is approaching quicker than these are likely to arrive.

    • I bought some other NTAG203 tags and can now confirm that the iPhone with the iCarte cover can write and read them without having to be personalised with a Commonwealth Bank Mastercard.
The bad news is that the applications that are available in the App store for NFC with iCarte suck.

  • +3

Pretty annoyed about the delay. They should have stopped orders before it went out of stock

  • Is this going to turn into another one of these? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/102246

  • +4

most stores deliberately sell over limit. most of us are gonna wait for new stock than asking refund of $5, means more profit for them. what kind of online store isn't capable of tracking stock levels.

    • +2

these guys are shocking. i've never had an order arrive less than 2-3 weeks after ordering it. easily one of the worst businesses in Australia for online shopping.

  • +2

Mine still in Allocating - I'll wait but wont be ordering from itech again
    Lucky it's only a $5 item

    • +2

agree. shocking behavior from this business. each time i've ordered something i've waited 2-3 weeks to get the item. keep in mind these guys are an Australian business.

my orders from eBay for items located in Hong Kong arrive faster than items i've ordered from i-tech!!

  • I'm really sorry for those who had to wait. We have since sent out 100 orders and the extra 4000x have arrived yesterday afternoon. We are sending them out as soon as we can and you can expect them within a few days. Sorry again for the inconvenience.

    • Thank you for the update.

  • +3

No way I'll be buying from iTech again, very unfair having most of the orders on back-order.

    • +2

these guys are absolutely stupid. I have a log of emails back and forth with them. they admit their mistakes but do nothing about them. no business improvement, no initiative by management to improve things. its the same bad customer service day in and day out.

    • -3

I see your comment complaining but I don't see any vote from you in the first place.

So did you even buy and if it was a good enough deal to buy why didn't you vote, if you didn't buy what the hell are you whinging about?

      • +2

Perhaps they revoked their '+'. no, the vote log shows that they did not do this
Perhaps they'll vote after they receive their stuff.
Perhaps they don't care about voting.

        • -1

Perhaps they don't care about being part of OzB

        • +1

my comments don't only relate to this deal, they also relate to other orders I've made through i-tech.

I hope this eases your angst and allows me into your circle of trust.

          thanks friend,

          grapedrink

        • I was skeptical about this deal and iTech, and after waiting a long time for what I've paid for, I've made my verdict on this deal.

        • grapedrink I was not commenting in regards to you.

          I'm certainly not defending i-tech.

But voting etc makes OzB go round and there seems to be number of members who are happy to take advantage of deals without voting, such as mahgo.

        • +2

i think you're thinking too much into this mate.

there could be a number of reasons why they didn't vote, the most likely one being simply forgot in their haste to get the "bargain".

          i'm guilty of this

  • +4

Ordered on the 5th, still waiting.
Frustrating experience that could have been avoided with better stock management and customer communication.

Get what you pay for I guess. At least I know for next time.

  • +3

I can't neg this deal because I already upvoted it, but I definitely revoked that.
This is absolutely pathetic, I haven't even received a reply to my ticket I started days ago.
I'm expecting a few extra tags to be thrown in for this, but I shouldn't get my hopes up…

    • +1

      thrown in

      Hahaha.

      Expectations lead to upset.

      • +1

Yep, but I'm especially frustrated that I have not even received a non-automated response to my ticket days in.

  • I'm really sorry for all the frustrations and for those who had to wait. To my knowledge all orders have being dispatched on Monday. Please allow a few days for delivery.

    • +4

If it's not here by the end of the week you'll definitely feel the OzBargain burn…

  • +5

I will not buy from these guys again, what a pain in the ass.

  • Got mine today in the post. Five white non-descript paper dots about the size of a 20-cent piece.

    • Same here.

  • +5

    Did not receive mine today.

  • +3

It's now been "Ready to ship/pick up" for more than 3 days. Worst online business ever.
