Eneloop Standard Charger + 16x AA Rouge Battery Pack $20.99 (Plus $4.95 Delivery) = $25.94 @ DSE

4090
TAKE30OFF

Ok. Piggy backing from chuckwow's deal here (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/135845), found this even better deal on their website. Not sure if it's real or not, but I've gone through the purchase and got a confirmation.

Update: DSE may be shipping the charger with 4 batteries only, see comment below.

        • I don't think it was someone's mistake, it was their system stuff up. I spent a lot of time in ordering and failed a couple of times. Eventually it went though. I got two invoices with different order numbers, did not realised that until I got gift cards in two different mail.

        • And u sure didn't get charged $400 instead of $200?

    • I think they are my batteries.

      Just got mine,

      2 x Chargers
      2 x 8pk eneloop Tropicals.

Missing one set of the 16 batteries.

Emailed DSE support based on the original invoice/shipping notice showing only 2 x 8pk eneloops and asking if it was getting the other 2 x 8pk eneloops only to receive the generic

      Good Afternoon,

Thank you for taking time to email Dick Smith Online.

In regards to your inquiry, please be informed that unfortunately due to stock limitations we are no longer able to offer the 16 x AA "Rouge" Batteries. However we are excited to be able to offer the new limited edition 2 Tropical Batteries ($49.99) as replacement.

Delivery information will be provided via automated email upon dispatch from the warehouse.

We apologies for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding in this matter.

If you have any further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us via email.

Twice got the exact same response word for word, despite my second email saying that their first response didn't address my original question.

However I have just received another invoice for 4 x eneloop Tropicals, (no shipping notice on the second order yet), will wait and see what turns up.

      • I just got the package with the charger and tropicals instead of the rouge one's too. Just sounds like you go the last pack of rouges.

I'm guessing they had to get in more of the tropicals though, which is why they had to send them separately.

  • Guys where do I pick this up? I got no note to pick it up. Just email and sms. I'm assuming it's at the local oz post office?

    • if it came by startrack express, you may need to go to the depot.

      • i called them up and apparently it was signed by someone.. turns out my neighbour told the delivery guy he'd sign for it since i wasn't home lol

      • +2

        WTF? Nice neighbor? Hope so.

        But WTF Startrack?

  • Hi, do you think DSE will ask to return the 'over' send items when they auditted their system?

  • Thanks aaronbaron received mine today too.

  • Mine came in a big box today.

  • These Tropicals might be fakes. There are numerous typos on the package, like most knockoffs. See posts on p2 of this other Eneloop offer discussing said typos https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/136121?page=1#comment-1887…

And the website address on the back of the packs I received is wwww.eneloop.com.sg which FF says cant be found. I will try IE, I havent yet. I know that it comes up as a site on urlmetrics (.com.sg), and has a lot of hits, but its not available now.

According to other packages I found images of on the net, the web address is, www.eneloop.info. And it works just fine. Its all very weird.

    • Grey Eneloop stock? Maybe they manufacture some there?

  • Ok, thanks for the clarification of the website.

Im going to go instore tomorrow and look at the packs in there. See if they sell intended for market items, or grey imports, if thats what these are. Id expect the intended for market items to have at least less typos and spelling errors. Maybe they are all like this.

    • I honestly think that the batteries themselves are genuine and made in Japan.

The Singapore plant just packages them, to save on packaging costs in japan which i imagine would be quite high. Obviously they don't have proper QA in that plant.

DSE would have sourced them from a cheaper plant to accommodate for the thousands of packs bought from this deal after looking at several alternative suppliers.

I thought the same thing (sourcing large numbers, cheap), but was including the option of fakes. Im still not happy, I bought Rouge from Australia. I get Tropicals from wherever. I would not expect to walk into a DSE store and be buying grey imports. Might as well go to a car park market, almost.

I know they were cheap, but they offered them, twice, once for $5 less than I paid. Not my problem they cant meet demand.

        • but the actual product is genuine. The packaging is dud

i compared them to my other eneloops at home and the quality looks the same

Ever seen grey import RayBans? They are RB frames, but the lens is not meant for this market, although also genuine. The first sign was the case was slightly thinner than the other pair I have, which came from SunglassHut. The lens has the RB engraved, but its the wrong lens. They felt off. So I took them and compared them to a pair at SunglassHut. The staff member looked with me. She thought they were genuine at first, and as it turns out the frames were, but the lens colour was noticeably off. The 'fakes' were darker. It wasnt the lighting, they were both in the same light, side by side. They were the same model, same alleged colour. Who cares then? Well the lens is why I buy RayBans, and not $30 glasses from a chemist, or $20 glasses from a servo. So potentially the casings of these could be genuine for example, that doesnt mean the inside is. Im not saying they arent, Im saying I dont like it. I dont willingly buy grey imports for that reason.

DSE made an offer, I accepted that offer, they accepted payment. Then sent something I never ordered, and a grey import to boot. Thats dodgey. I fI wanted potentially dodgey endeloops, Id go to fleabay. If all Tropicals have the same package in Aus, then fine, they likely arent grey imports. Id be happy to accept that. Just not if they are.

Ive contacted Panasonic via the Eneloop site, Ill see what they say too.

        • -2

No one has proven these are even grey imports, whose to say Panasonic Australia has to get new packaging for this tiny region?

You bought on some assumption, so sucks to be you.

        • -2

psst, I bought Rouge fool. They have properly formed English on them.

But to your second assumption, no one said they are fakes, or grey imports. Its a suspicion. I even say that in a post lower down.

    • If you're going in store, take a magnifying glass to read the fine print (typos).

My guess is that they use the same supplier for both online and in store.

I have a set of 3rd gen Uomos which I bought in store, and although there are no typos in the insert, they do list 2 websites:
      www.eneloop.com.sg
      www.sanyo.com.tw

  • Anyone suspects the charger sets are also fake knockoffs?

    • No ones sure any of them are fakes. Its a suspicion, along with other theories. But nothing has been mentioned about the ones in the chargers.

  • Received mine. Thanks OP.

  • Anyone able to check these with a multimeter or something? Other than the assumption these are grey imports I think this was one of the best deals of the year for me. I know it was only a small scale saving but I was wrapped with this deal and the fact it was honoured by DS and relatively quickly was a bonus.
    Thanks OP.

  • Received mine today ..20 batteries ( Two 8 packs plus 4 included in the charger ) ..can't beat this deal..thanks OP..Now I have to think how to put this into use..does anyone know what is the shelf life of these batteries ?

    • +3

      Read the packet

  • 16 TROPICAL BATTERIES + 4 WHITE + THE CHARGER!

This is the best deal ever. It is 50% off the normal special price at least.

    Thanks everyone.

  • 48 TROPICAL BATTERIES + 8 WHITE + 2 CHARGERS!
    ($46.92)

    Even better.

Dick Smith stuff up and send only 2 x 8pk Tropicals with the 2 chargers ordered.
    Then send another 4 x 8pk seperately.

Same Tropicals packaging as seen on the shelf stock at my local Dick Smiths.

  • So, let's say these are 'grey' imports. What difference does that make as they're from a bricks and mortar type local store. I'm thinking none?

  • if you look at woolworths in the toothpaste section, a lot of those are parallel imports.

  • Good on yas DSE, a quick call, and I was able to swap them for two packs of UOMO. Same pack design as the Rouge, and I can get the batteries out and put them back in without destroying the packaging, meaning I have a built in storage solution too.

    Thanks DSE and OP.

    • swap instore u mean ?

      • Yeah. They were good with it. Not sure all stores would do it though. I called the online store helpline, the lady said she would need to call the store, and then said the manager was expecting me. Not sure if all stores would be so helpful. The store had no Tropicals, so Im not sure if they will sell them or return them. And sadly for me, I couldnt compare Tropical packs, but someone posted that the packs in store were the same as those delivered.

        • How dare you have Energizer in the background of Eneloops!

        • Mate, believe it or not, they're actually supposed to be taken out of the packet and used :p

  • Update on my post from page 5, couldn't work out how to link too?!

Collected parcel and it did contain the 1 charger I ordered but 32 enloop tropical (4pkts x 8 batteries) not the required 16!

    Thanks DSE!

I was a battery novice until the last 2 deals, I now have 1 la crosse charger, 1 Sanyo dumb charger, 52 AA enloop and 16 AAA.

Time to start playing with the kids toys!

    Thanks OP & Oz bargains.
