        thats A3 for the guidance.
Just got off phone with Apple Australia on 1300-321-456, and confirmed that this phone was not associated or locked with anyone earlier.
They also confirmed the technical support and warranty duration.

Now all I need to do is hound Kogan while they send me the adapter while I wait for my iPad mini to arrive.

        • Thanks for the link! Just confirmed my USA iPhone 5S is under warranty till 6 July 2015, and it even lets me make a booking 'for repairs' in my local Apple store with an alleged genius. The jury is still out on whether they'll actually be able to replace it under warranty locally… but it gives me a tiny bit of comfort knowing my warranty is valid (somewhere) and I can make a booking with my local store to inspect it. In the meantime I shall work on my Yankee accent.

The link to the Apple site just informs you about the warranty. In your case the warranty is valid with Apple USA. Of course you can attend any Apple Store anywhere for assistance. However, repairs and replacement is usually restricted to the country of first sale. In this case the USA.

under warranty till 6 July 2015

Which means that it was first activated on 5th/6th of July this year. Before you received the phone.

        • usually

Exactly. It's up to the local genius's discretion whether they choose to provide us a replacement. Anyway we've debated this long enough, let's let it go

          activated

I had a feeling that mine had been opened/resealed, which probably happened while it was in Kogan's Facility in Melbourne on 6 July. I really don't care that they activated it for me - doing so probably saved me some trouble. Got my new Amaysim SIM card now and it's working fine.

        • @muncan:

It's up to the local genius's discretion whether they choose to provide us a replacement.

Unfortunately, once the Serial or IMEI has identified that the country of first sale was NOT AU/NZ, the Apple Genius has no discretion as so far as replacing the phone goes.

    • Just a noob question, Google it but the answers are mixed.

Can we claim warranty for Kogan iPhone via Apple Store or need to contact Kogan? Kogan rep. answer is can be via Apple Store.

      Thanks

Can we claim warranty for Kogan iPhone via Apple Store or need to contact Kogan? Kogan rep. answer is can be via Apple Store.

There is no such thing as a Kogan iPhone. iPhones purchased from Kogan HK may have been first purchased in Hong Kong, or USA, or Thailand, (these three have been confirmed so far) or indeed any country where they can get a good price.

Official Apple Australia policy is that iPhones must be returned to the country of first sale in order to obtain warranty repair or replacement.

Also, iPhones from other countries have a 12months warranty. There is no support for our Consumer Guarantee of 24months or more.

Kogan offers a 12month warranty - and it seems that you can call Kogan Australia for assistance and that they act as an agent for Kogan HK.

Hope this helps - don't forget the money you saved by buying from Kogan HK and importing it yourself.

        • Cheers, mate. Just call Kogan iPhone for the ones we order from them.

Many examples get rejected by Apple Au, but othes are sucessful, so may be depends on our luck.

24 months you mentioned means Apple product has 24 months warranty in Au? I didn't know that.

        • +1

          @com930:

Many examples get rejected by Apple Au, but othes are sucessful, so may be depends on our luck.

I have NEVER known of a truly confirmed case where a USA market model iPhone has been replaced or repaired (screen replaced etc.) by Apple Australia.

24 months you mentioned means Apple product has 24 months warranty in Au? I didn't know that.

Most call it that, however if you say that here on OzBargain there are some who will 'jump on' you.

Most Apple products have a 12months Global Warranty, no matter from which country (market) they were purchased. Apple products purchased in Australia also have this 12months Global warranty. However they also are subject to an Australian Consumer Guarantee of 24months or more.

Apple iPhones, and Apple iPads that have cellular connectivity, do not have a Global Warranty.

I would not classify an already activated iphone as being new. Mine will be going back if it arrives already activated.

      • I would not classify an already activated iphone as being new. Mine will be going back if it arrives already activated.

Technically you are correct. However, remember that you saved a lot of money by buying from a Hong Kong supplier and importing the phone yourself.

        • True. I will wait and see the overall condition of the phone and packaging when it arrives.

        • @unity1:
Mine came in great condition, looks perfectly new.
@A3Australia. dead on, this 5S ended up costing me $535.86, thats a great deal!!

Opened my MBA 11 few minutes back. It is a brand new 2014 model like few others here got. Now learning to use OSX :)

  • I received a tracking email today for the macbook air 11". I hope it gets delivered soon :D

08 Jul 14 19:50 HONG KONG Booking Arranged
08 Jul 14 19:50 HONG KONG Documentation Prepared

    I hope I get a 2014 model as well :D

    • I got the same tracking status :)
What are the chances to get it delivered by this Friday

      • Mine was picked up monday evening and arrived in australia wednesday morning. Still waiting on mine though so it's up to the courier from then :)

  • I got my shipping notification for my 5S today! Two hours after they had apparently tried to deliver it ;)

I never knew that Toll delivered to newsagents though.

  • +1

I received my iPhone 5S (gold) today. Got the "Your Kogan order …. has left out warehouse" about 2 hours before it was delivered.
5S came resealed with Kogan inspected stickers on each side of the box. Same as others, I'm also missing my pin. No sim in the tray and this is the US model (A1533) so Kogan supplied a generic AUS wall to usb adapter.

I get why some people are asking for refund's. This was a misleading deal.. Kogan's eBay listing was for 'Brand New' 5S, but this is clearly a used phone.. Although there's no scratches or any visible damage or even any visible sign that it has been used, it was opened by someone else and someone else has been touching this NEW phone. And then theres the issue with it being a US model and not the AUS or Asian model that people would've expected to receive.

    • +1

Totally agree mickeymouse. I received my iPhone 5S (silver). It appeared factory sealed (no Kogan stickers). Model is A1533 (US) with a verizon SIM in the tray. I fully expected the A1530 as sold in HK and fully compatible in AU. Yes I understand there were savings made buying from Kogan and circumventing GST etc (blah, blah, blah), but as others have found, these are not explicitly 'brand new' phones. eBay defines brand new as one thing, it seems Kogan defines it differently.

What are others choosing to do? My main issue is the model number, not the condition it was received.

      • Why is the model number important to you? 4G? Have you confirmed if you can connect to your network with this phone?
I'm on a 3G network (Amaysim) so this is a non-issue to me, so I'm sticking with mine.

        • Because as A3 Australia has mentioned, the A1533 is not fully compatible with all bands in Australia. The A1530 which is sold in HK is. Perhaps we have no recourse, the listing did not quote 2300MHz, but I was under the (perhaps incorrect) assumption that we would be shipped HK models.

        • @futurenow: But does 4G actually work for you?

      • I am on the same boat, not received mine yet but pretty sure it will be A1533. If we don't consider the 4G plus of Optus using 2300MHz, the rest are nearly the same between A1530 and A1533.

      • I was able to negotiate with Kogan a return at their expense and a full refund (no restocking fee). If you are not happy, I would suggest the same.

My main issue was that the phone was not sealed (and the listing did say the item was BRAND NEW), and it was intended to be a gift. If the phone was not a gift, I would of kept it as long as I knew it was definitely new.

As has been discussed previously, there were savings to be made, but honestly, I feel most of those who bought automatically 'assumed' (which is probably our own fault) that we would be getting a sealed HK model. Having said that, the phone being the USA model was not a problem for me.

      • I was expecting what everyone else was i think? a brand new AUS version of the 5S.
Regardless of the phone being opened and handled, it does bother me that we have been sold US phones. the whole thing is kind of shady! But still a great deal, won't be returning mine.

  • Got mine today. it shows AT&T network on the setting. charger is US standard socket. pin is missing as well.

  • +4

Got my 11' MacBook Air this afternoon, didn't realise it was the 2014 version until i saw the comments here. Very happy. Well packaged and unopened, two power adaptors as well.

    • did you recieved email from kogan for the dispatch notice? I recieved an email today having this description "Apple 11" MacBook Air MD711 (1.3GHz i5) - Kogan" I also hope mine will also be 2014 version. Note that 2014 version is 1.4hz i5.

      • +2

I received the 2014 model. My email (which came late today after the Mac was delivered this morning) stated the same as your did. My invoice also shows the 1.3GHz processor. But, it is definitely the 2014 model (1.4GHz).

        • How long did it take to arrive from HK to AU?

RE: missing pin for iPhone 5S, we are not alone… https://discussions.apple.com/message/23794374

I received my Macbook Air 11 128g this morning, it was also a 2014 version like guys above. I thought kogan was doing a clearance of the 2013 version days ago, but seems I was wrong…Kogan was sending surprise to us thats the only explanation, haha :)

  • i googled it.. can't find any info..

    Toll status: "out of depot"

does that mean "out for delivery" - today?

    i would assume so

  • +3

Just received email from Kogan… they have shipped my 13" macbook 128gb :)

    • +1

What is your current status? I received the email, too. And mine has arrived Australia already.

      • Status
HK - Hong Kong. Linehaul by Overnight

        • That's nice. Hopes it is 2014 model :)

  • +4

Just got My MBA 11" and it's also the 2014 model. Not much of a difference between the 2, but you gotta love when companies under-promise and over-deliver.

    • There is definitely a big difference when you want to resell it. People will always look for the latest model even when they are buying an used one. And most probably it is more profitable for Kogan to sell 2014 model as it $100 cheaper than the 2013 model.

      • True. I doubt we'll be reselling this anytime soon. It's replacing my wife's 2008 macbook. We like to run things into the ground.
I'm still hoping maybe I can get Ubuntu to run on the old one…

  • Just logged in to say how excited I am to get a Order Shipped confirmation for my MBA11. Just read all the comments and saw that some people are getting the 2014 edition. Will wait and hope. Not sure if I will be disappointed if I receive the 2013 version now lol. I wont be as it is still a fantastic bargain for $500, I was watching a few on ebay that were used selling for $800+. Thanks very much OP

  • Just received my 11" and it's the 2014 version as well. Typing on it now and am in love already! Touchpad is incredibly intuitive

    • +2

      feeeeeeeeeeel the .1ghz speed increase.

      • I would of been happy with either but being newer is definitely a bonus :)

    • Are you a hipster yet? Feeeell the trendinesss

      • Surely hipsters would think macs were too mainstream now

        • touche. Are Sony still making those VAIO's?

  • +5

Received my Macbook Air 13' 256GB without any additional fees. And best of all it is brand new and 2014 model(1.4GHz Core i5 processor)

Edit: I checked the invoice that showed the price of Macbook Air 13in 256GB was $850 not $1050.

    • You got it without any tracking ID or notification from Kogan that it had been dispatched? And approximately how many had been sold already when you purchased yours?

      • same (bought last 30 of 300), I haven't receive any sort of notification that my order has been dispatched.

        • Woah watch out, we got a broden over here

        • @inasero: my bad i meant 270th

      • I received the notification email this morning and the subject was Your Kogan order **** has left our warehouse!‏

When I clicked the track # and it showed it had arrived in Sydney already.

I bought mine really early (around 20 to 30 units had been sold).

Edit: I also bought MBA 13in 128G and no notification so far. Not received it yet either. Bought one of the last 50 units.

  • I received mac air 11 and 13 today, both 2014 version . but only the air 11 have an iPhone charger head for au and kogan adapter. the 13 only adapter.

    • You know it's not just an iPhone charger head right? You can use it on pretty much any apple charger (old or new) including using it instead of the extension cord from the white box.

      • does that mean you have an strange shaped kinda heavy lump hanging off a power outlet tho?

        • Sure does, but in some cases I find that better than having 2 meters of unneeded cable curled up under my desk instead.

    • Congrats.. So no customs issues then? Enjoy…

    I WANT MY IPAD T_T

    • +2

and i wish i bought a macbook too… guttered that i missed out on it :(

      • I'm guttered that I didn't get the iphone 5c to complement my 256gb 13" mba and ipad mini grrr

  • Looks like everyone will be receiving the 2014 model of the macbook air instead of 2013, thanks kogan :)

Will definitely buy again during sale unless it's an iPhone…

  • MBA 11" arrived….2014 model :-)

  • anyone else received the iphone 5S with a weird adapter? Mine came with two.
First one has a USB connection plug, but with the wrong connection point pin head
Second has the correct connection pins to go into Australian sockets, but no USB connection
    ????

    • just saw above, someone else got the duck adapter (http://www.amazon.com/Power-Adapter-Apple-iBook-iPhone/dp/B0…) as well for the iphone…wth

    • anyone else received the iphone 5S with a weird adapter? Mine came with two. First one has a USB connection plug, but with the wrong connection point pin head. Second has the correct connection pins to go into Australian sockets, but no USB connection

First, did you receive a USA market model iPhone 5s? Model A1533?

If so, it would have had a white 'cube' type USA AC to USB charger inside the phone box. Of course this 'mini' type charger has the two flat parallel pins to fit USA power sockets. With this model iPhone 5s Kogan should supply a black Kogan branded AC to USB charger which comes in a separate little box. This Australian approved charger has the correct insulated two angled pins to fit into our wall sockets.

      • @A3Australia: Have you heard anything from Kogan regarding model swap. Please keep us updated, thanks :)

        • Same question. I'm hesitant to swap my SIM. The phone is still with protective seals and is in exactly the same condition received, 'brand new' cough

        • @A3Australia: Have you heard anything from Kogan regarding model swap. Please keep us updated, thanks :)

They said to wait 48hours. No reply so far. So I have sent them a reminder email message.

        • @futurenow:

Same question. I'm hesitant to swap my SIM. The phone is still with protective seals and is in exactly the same condition received, 'brand new' cough

Have you called Kogan Australia about your concerns?

        • @A3Australia: yup. Just then :)

Now waiting on the escalation. A3 please tell me what your outcome is re: swap (if possible) and any applicable charges (if any)?

        • @A3Australia
Still nothing from the ticket I submitted. Have you had any response to your query?

  • I still have not received my MBA13, nor have i received any information? Anyone else on the same boat?

    • Yes, I am still waiting for MBA 13 128GB. No notification yet.

    • Me too. Friday already @

  • still waiting for ipad mini

    • Checked again with a Rep- still in 'final stages of processing'
edit- apparently will be receiving tracking in 1-2 days. Fingers crossed..

      • they told me these 2 days ago :P, i dont think they know where they are

        • +2

I've been hassling their online chat for the past 4 days, wish I ordered a Macbook to tie me over, getting rather impatient after hearing everyone receiving all their purchases!

  • Did anyone else buy the ipad air from this link http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-iPad-Air-16GB-Wi-Fi-Kogan-/… and not the group deals link? If so have you received your ipad air yet?

    • +1

I bought it from that link as opposed to grp deal
      received this morning (ACT)
      had hong kong plug tho

      • Thanks shadowfangz, I just got my ipad air today ^_^

  • Ipad Air 16gb arrived (TAS) ( was out yesterday but courier had left a card)

Came with a Kogan international to Aus power socket - but the charger that came with the Ipad was already a Australian socket. So no need for it.

Awesome $400 price - in line with branded Androids.

  • I ordered the MBA 11" 128 and am regretting not getting the MBA 13" 256. If anyone wants to trade let me know. Thanks

    • I give you my 256 13" and get your 128 11"? Hmm

      • +$350

        • Hey man, still up for a swap? Thanks

  • +1

MBA 13 128 GB 2014 Edition delivered yesterday afternoon and an email with tracking info was sent to me 2 hrs before it was delivered. I was one of the first 20 to order.

    • I was one of the last 20 odd to get the 256 version. Hope they didn't oversell

  • Whats the status of "Transfer Out to DEST"?
Does that mean it will arrive today or later next week?
    ordered 13" 128 MBA

    • It means your item is transferred to your local depot. It just left from the sort facility. BTW, how many units had been sold when you bought yours?

      • Pretty sure it was at 100

      • I have similar status but now my status is 'AU - Erskineville. Into Facility'. I guess i will not received it today.

        • I got that status after Transfer Out to DEST… Werid seems like it should have been other way around.

        • Same here… It was at 1:23pm. since then it has changed to "transfer out to sil" at 1:36pm. Don't think it will be delivered today :(
