Vodafone Half Price Access Fees on $50 Red SIM Only for 6 Months [Existing Customers Only]

230

3GB $50 Red SIM only plan for $25 for 6 months. Apparently you have to have and existing account with vodafone. Got the deal from Vodafone shop in Burwood One at Burwood East (Melbourne) Not sure if it is store or state wide. Unfortunately it ends tomorrow. Better Hurry. Similar deal online but only for 1 month.

Good deal if you are traveling overseas because for $5 a day you get infinite calls back to Australia and locally. You also get to use up to 3GB of data.

MOD — offer has been extended to 4 Nov. Please see jimbobaus's comment.

  • Do i understand this right? You are on a plan and pay $50.- a month for 3GB? That is anything but cheap and you can get such or better deals at any time.

    • No. It includes unlimited domestic voice, text, and 300 minutes of international.
$10/GB excess fee - not too bad.

    • See the flyer. You pay $25 a month for 3GB, infinite calls and txt in Australia and 300 mins of international call. One member of my family is going overseas. For $5 a day overseas you now have infinite calls back to Australia and to the country you are in and you get to use up you 3GB data as well.

    • That 3 GB of Internet data -may- well feel like 1 GB, ie, if Voda charge by MB- (rather than KB-) quanta. How does this plan work?

      • +2

Voda charges per KB sessions, so it's 3GB is better than 3GB from Vaya for example. Also from personal experience in Sydney , voda's 4G network is at least as fast if not faster than Optus 4G.

  • Special offer - 3GB for $5 at Lycamobile (data bundle - you'd have to have a phone plan such as $29.90 for unlimited text & calls with 2gb data).

Cant get their webpage up. LOL.

    • 3GB's is $25

      • My bad "FROM $5" - damn those mad men.

      • VirginMobile gives you 6 GB for $30 (OK, data only), with NO Bill-Shock (you never have to pay more, unless you -choose- to buy data packs.)

I highly doubt their customer care would honor this deal… am on the phone with them right now and it's going no where.

  • Hi guys, I just popped into Vodafone store @ World Square Sydney, they have the flyer and states offer ends 04.11.14
Apparently the 50% off also applies to $60 Red & $80 Red plans (sim only).

  • Deal ends November…. not tomorrow
Doesn't apply on $60 or $80 sim only.

    • Jimbobaus can you confirm if existing customers can sign up for this?

      • I believe the offer is for existing customers with postpaid account..

In regards to the $60/$80 plans, the Sales person at the store gave me another sheet with those plan and costs and told me they have the promo too, oh well I was only really after the $50 one anyway.

        • I have a post paid account, have two numbers on it, one 24month contract another on a m2m sim only $50 red, asked him to put me on this one, customer rep said nope, new customers only.

        • @shadowarrior:

I don't think he can just move your current $50 red onto this one.
But you can add a new service to your existing account.
In saying that, I'm not sure if the promotion vary with stores?

On my flyer, it says — 1: Offer for approved Postpaid voice customers who add this Plan to their Account. Applied as a credit of $25 to your first six bills. Minimum monthly spend (month 1-6) is $25 and (from month 7) is $50. Recurring monthly access fee charged until the end of the month that you cancel. No discount for additional or excluded services. Not transferable or redeemable for cash. The account holder is responsible for all charges incurred on their account.

        • @cola2002:
So I can technically cancel my current $50 red plan, go to an el-cheapo non red plan and then call back same day and change to the $50 red plan to get this offer?

        • @shadowarrior:

I think it also depends on the store.
Walked past a different voda shop, and it didn't look like they had the 50% off for whole 6 months, I didn't go in and ask for info.

It doesn't say you aren't allowed if you already have red plan.
The promo is to 'add' this additional plan to your existing account, so don't think it'll work if you're just changing plans to get on that one?

I have an existing $0 plan from years ago sitting on a vodafone account, (ported all other services away during Vodafail), now planning to port my Telstra prepaid back to take up the offer, great timing as I will be needing it going overseas in October.

This offer is for NEW connects only.. does not apply to Rate Plan Changes.
You can off course port your number out and then re-connect and get the deal (i didnt suggest that to you of course)

  • so its not for new customers?

  • just came from vodafone store in broadmeadows .this plan is for existing customers only if u want 6 months for half price. i got the pocketwifi m2m plan for 18$ instead of 20 as its 10 percent off to existing customers. they have to re check credit file to see if i was eligible for three services on my account { ur existing number + pocket wifi month2 month plan+ this 6 months new number}
i got approved for three.thanks ozbargain

  • This deal is available at all Vodafone retailers I believe. Joined this plan when posted previously on ozbargain https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151754. Ported that same number to Telstra yesterday and ported back to Vodafone today to take advantage of the 6 months with half price access.

Another feature of this plan is that you get 300 minutes of international calls (excludes premium services and calls) per month to any country, landlines and mobiles. Includes infinite international TXT.

    Thanks for posting OP.

  • Hi All,This deal is back and the offer is till 4.11.14
I saw this deal in Allphone shop.

    Thanks

  • Hmm with the recent 630 deal, I wonder if I can add this to it.

  • So is it avail for new customer? And is it still month-by-month? Like I can switch to another carrier after 6 mths?

  • I know its MTM but dont know if its only for new customer.

  • Is this offer still available? When does it end?
Can I add it to a prepaid account to get this deal?

  • Help !!!!
Just received my Phone bill from Vodafone re this contract !!
First month was all cool it was $25 for half price red 50 plan and $20 pocket wifi = $45
    Second month was $116 ???
I removed my pocket wifi and added 4GB for $30 as pocked wifi is now useless…
    Should only be= $25 + $30 = $55 yea ~
I get charged $20 for going over 2GB before I added the 4gb extra. okkkkkk I guess…(but have more than 2gb unused.. whatever)
But I get charged $50 for 50 plan apparently… instead of the half price promotion…

Why I ask? They said because I removed the pocket wifi….
This special only applies when you had the pocked wifi service… When you removed it we started charging you the full $50 + your month and a half deposit which will be pro-rata …
I explained that the deal never said anything about pocket wifi's or additional services !! Only that I needed a current account, and to have a current account I needed the pocket wifi… (now my special applies to my current account I dont need the pocket wifi yea)
I sent them the Vodafone flyer in the link above… and stressed now where does it say pocket wifi or contracts or servies needed for this promotion to be current. Just that I needed an "Account" and to get an "account" I asked northsydney whats the cheapest and they said $20 pocket wifi plan (Vodafone call centre reviewed it and said that the flyer is not
valid…. its not from Vodafone website and therefore could be photoshoped and that they cant do anything being from ozbargains …

    Any help pleaseee….??

Now for my rant if your interested:
I am fuming and hating that I went back to Vodafone like a spastic… I was with them for 8 years but stopped because of the 'vodafail' 2010-12 dilemma… Went to Telstra was happy.. Simple… Easy.. Understandable… No BS… but little pricier.. so me thinking maby Vodafone is all right now with the fast 4G, less customers meaning less traffic, better deals and 300 min international calls + unlimited… How can I resist ?! Little did I know.. Once a dodgy Vodafone always a dodgy Vodafone… Very rude shock now… anyways… enough of this dribble. I am currently waiting for a vodafone Manager to call me in regards to this as I wont let them walk all over me… P.s me thinking of the $100 iphone 6 vodafone plan next month(because no vodafone stock atm) how delusion was I…

  • FYI, there's now a deal (well, until 4/11/14) that's open to new customers, when you sign up at Allphones

As an existing Vodafone customer, I've successfully changed over to this plan and here's how I did it.

    1. Refer to this 4G Pocket Wifi deal and get yourself one of those as an existing customer, preferably in store so you get the product and activate it almost instantly - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/167312

    2. Now that you have 2 services under Vodafone, port your existing number out to a pre-paid service. In my case I chose to port to Optus and did it free of charge by walking into an Optus store and asking for a $2 blank sim and tell them you want to port. (My Vodafone Postpaid to Optus Prepaid Port took under 20min to complete, cost $0)

    3. Walk yourself back to Vodafone store and ask to be connected to this $50 RED SIM 50% off MTM offer on the mobile number that you've just ported out. (Optus Prepaid back to Vodafone Postpaid Port took 10~15min to complete)

If you follow the steps above and manage to go between the two stores (eg. when they are next to each other in a mall) you should be able to do everything comfortably in less than an hour.

All you need is to bring 100 Point ID and sign a few papers. Total cost of this is $20 by obtaining the 4G Pocket Wifi device and that gets you 2.5GB of data.

Disclaimer This is how I've obtained it, does not guarantee it will work in your circumstances, please take my advice as a suggestion.

    • Thanks Zen. That was pretty well done.

Just a quick one, was your vodafone postpaid on contract or it was contract free. As if now I am on a 24 month contract with 12 months remaining.

      Thanks for your help !

      • Mines contract free, I would image if you're still on a contract there will be exit fees payable and making this offer costing more than what it's worth!
