  • Could you rephrase your title a bit? Got confused for a bit there, thought you meant it was USB 3.0 :)

  • Beats by Dre Studio 2.0 Headphones $188 is crazy cheap. Officeworks were quick to match haha!

  • A few decent phone deals in there too

  • SanDisk Cruzer Edge USB Flash Drive 3 Pack - 8GB

I believe i have had faster floppy disks than this crap

  • @TRENT86 HN says Nokia Lumia is locked with Vodafone!, see http://www.harveynorman.com.au/phones-accessories-gps/phones…

    • Look in the catalogue, it shows unlocked :) Like pretty much all Vodafone phones these days

      • I am not really sure. However, you may check by making a search "Nokia Lumia 630" which provides the price of 198$ for unlocked and 96$ for locked with Vodafone. see my search http://www.harveynorman.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=nokia…

        • +1

          @TRENT86: Thanks :)

        • The stores have an email with all the unlock codes in case some phones aren't unlocked already.

        • @tightwad:
thank you, i bought one this morning and was feeling frustrated that it isnt unlocked as its supposed to be, but gave them a call and they are sorting it out

        • @phor8:
No problem. All part of the service :)

      • +1

Bought one of the Nokia Lumia 630 from DSE a while back locked to Vodafone and was impossible to unlock. Had a few online unlockers that tried and ended up getting a refund.
Ended up paying something like $80 to Vodafone to get it unlocked

    • My local HN is selling the unlocked and unbranded lumia 630 for $98 (at HN Maribyrnong, VIC) for any one interested in the unlocked version for an extra $2.

  • +1

Cheapest Kobo Aura eReader HD @ $128 at the moment! Second cheapeast is at JB Hifi @ $189. However, HN website states its out of stock at shops in 3029 area but can buy it on back-order online. Strange but its even cheaper than the previous Kobo Glo model?!

    • I noticed!!!!

      totally buying one!

    • Is the Kobo aura better than the glo? I bought the Glo yesterday for $135!

      • im no kobo expert but a quick google search result that aura HD has better resolution and its lighter compared to glo.

  • Which one is better? Sony Bravia 42" W800B Series Full HD LED LCD 3D Capable Smart TV $549 or https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176310?

    • No idea but I bought the Harvey offering as I could lie in bed to do so and pick it up later. TGG is in store only so possible you may not find stock whilst getting battered in the shops.

That said I did a quick whirlpool search and the 3d Sony got good reviews.

      • Got the 48 inch from TGG brighton, still plenty left.
Manager said 80 unit in stock

    • +1

I would go for the 800 series which is a great series, but both are awesome deals, I guess it depends on whether you really want a 48

      • I decided to go with the 42 inch (Harvey Norman) TV due to the following reasons.

        1. 100hz (great for fast action movies).
        2. Nice to have 3D (even though I am not heavy user of 3D)
        3. 48 inch TV is too big for my viewing distance. 42 inches will be just right.
        4. Hassle free online click and collect.

I really dislike shopping at stores during boxing day. I often find staff at many stores aren't friendly or helpful as usual, because they are super busy. Customers behave rudely in desperation to secure the deals they want.

        • +2

Yeah I h8 shopping when it's crazy everyone turns to rude mode

        • It's 50Hz

  • Nokia Lumia 630 is locked with Vodafone , I just chat with HN live and the rep confirmed in locked with Voda. Also your link can see Voda logo with it.

    • Next to logo there is an unlocked sign. Check the phones below it.

    • +1

I have just confirmed that is unlocked however it is branded to Vodafone..So basically when you turn the phone on you will see Vodafone's logo first thing

      • Oh the confusion, I just bought one (two actually!)…and it is locked…and a code is needed to unlock it.

        • Phew…..free unlock available on the vodafone website, the code works when input albeit it says its for a 635. All good, happy as, now to claim the gift cards.

        • +1

@Coops1: Where on the Vodafone Website did you got the unlock code ?

          Edit: found it https://unlock.vodafone.com.au

I just unlocked my Lumia yay

        • @JeanValjean: where does it say free unlock in the link? Want to buy this phone tomorrow but called HN and they said the unlocked phone is $199. Why would they sell a locked phone for $96 with free unlock?

        • @bottletop: here man. if you look at the phone on this page in the catalogue look at the lock on the side and it's not locked :)
          http://www.harveynorman.com.au/catalogues/current-catalogue/…

        • @TRENT86: I know, that's what I initially thought but after ringing HN I got told its locked.

        • +1

@bottletop: Yeah because they are not up to date with the world of technology and should have known you can get unlock code from VF For free :) It has been discusses the last few weeks about Vodafone not locking their phones anymore. HN Didn't even know about the Bonus $100 coles myer voucher with the lumia 735 and kept saying "No it doesn't come with voucher" lol

        • +1

@JeanValjean: says handset unlock error after entering the IMEI

        • @sajidmib:

The phone is locked YES but VF give FREE unlock code here:

          https://unlock.vodafone.com.au

just enter your IMEI code found on the box of the lumia.

  • The Lumia 830 is a pretty decent deal considering the $100 bonus gift card redemption. I'll be picking one up.

    • Picked one up at HN Macgregor as soon as the store opened this morning. There were about maybe 7 or 8 in stock of various colours if anyone was wondering.

  • The 630 says $96 HALF YEARLY…? What does that mean..?

    • +1

Think it means half yearly clearance sale

    • You have to pay $96 bi-annually until you dispose of the phone ;)

  • @TRENT86, thoughts on the TH-55AS740A at $999? Panasonic has this model on the website RRP worth more that the AS700A, which is $1049 everywhere else atm, and if I'm note mistaken part of TV frame on the 740 series is black rather than all in silver (I could be wrong but pretty sure that's what I saw at my local HN earlier in the week, even though the images online don't support this). This could be the best 55" offer out on Boxing Day, being that the 3D is passive could win over some punters. Also has a Twin HD tuner feature.

    HN link - http://www.harveynorman.com.au/hot-deals/panasonic-viera-55-…
    Panasonic link - http://www.panasonic.com/au/consumer/tvs-projectors/led-lcd-…

    • Went to my local Harveys, the 740 has no black, rather a full silver frame. It's the non 3d model which has some black on the edges. Picture quality didn't seem that great, though it's probably not set up the best being their cheap offer.

      • go after one of the Sony or Samsung Specials dude, much better TV'S Made by them

  • What do you guys reckon about the sony 42" TV? Thinking of getting it as a late xmas present for the parents (who are not in town right now)

    • +2

I have the 50" version of this TV. It has great reviews and pretty much a great TV out of the box. Easy to tweak picture settings with plenty of features. It's very straight forward to setup and has really nice aesthetics and materials used. I upgraded from a 32" 720p Samsung.

Downer would be a bit slow on start up. I.e. You can start watching FTA when the TV turns on but takes about 40secs or so to get to the smart menus. But if it's for your parents, I'm sure they've mastered patience by now. Also sound was not the best either as you'd expect for modern TVs these days. I have mine running via optical to a Bose Cinemate GS II which fills the audio in my living room.

I have not used the 3D so cannot comment on it. I doubt your parents will use this feature much. I guess it can come in handy if they have grand kids that can use it.

  • +3

TRENT86 I think you should also add the Xbox One Console + Assassin's Creed Unity Bundle for 388, which I personally think
is better than the Big W Deal because you can order online and don't have to go hunting for stock. If it's out of stock they will place on backorder for you. Also there is a potential $30 to $50 saving if you pay with a registered AMEX Card which would work out cheaper than using 7.5% discounted wish cards.

    • Ok m8 I will add it, cheers :)

  • Can anyone comment on the effort it takes to activate a prepaid telstra sim? ie having to scan photo ID or whatever? Want the prepaid Tempo for the google play credit :P

    • Google Play credit???How?

    • +1

2 minutes. Type in your drivers licence. Hardest part is double checking you typed in the correct info.

    • I'm assuming this phone will also come with a $10 starter meaning extra google credit?

      • +1

$10 starter is a bonus only: I found this out when I activated this to credit me2u the credit and I couldn't.

  • +1

Inca tripod i3130B only $11 in-store, down from $29.95. Basic but solid enough for amateur use, up to 1.25m, bag included. They also had half price UV filters, good lens protectors :), other notable bargains already mentioned were the 8gb class 4 sods for $4.

  • S4 is i9505 or i9506?

  • Can confirm as previously mentioned that lumia 630 is a free unlock with code supplied instore or on VF website.

  • +1

Nokia Lumia 630 is locked to Vodafone but the store owner was happy to give a free unlock code and also $10 (RRP $59) for 24 month warranty.

    • +2

      HN Hopeless as usual

    • +1

Good spotting, I will add it to post :)

  • Nokia 630 or Huawei Y550 ?

Which would have a longer battery lasting power for internet use?

  • @Trent86, Thank you for that.

I currently use Huawey G300+ and barely get 3 hrs of intermittent web browsing, before it needs a full charge.

  • BTW, is Nokia 630 3G tri-band ? (ie. 850, 900, 2100).

    • Yes, it covers those three bands.

  • Thanks i picked up a 630 came with unlock code attached to back sticker and also $30 vodafone credit , good deal.

    • How did you get the $30 Vodafone credit?

      • it was in the box a vodafone $30 prepaid starter pack.

        • Interesting, the packaging that I have does not have anywhere mentioned about Vodafone or contain any Vodafone starter pack inside the box, but there is a sticker for the UNLOCK CODE.

The phone was locked to Vodafone and I used the code to unlock it yesterday. Great that you have the starter pack, Merry Christmas.

  • Bought the nokia lumia 630, will claim now for the coles myer voucher, got the receipt but confuse which one is the receipt number?

    • +2

Ditto here, I used the invoice number at the end.

      • thanks for that, did u receive confirmation email from microsoft?

        • No emails for me, not even a reference number, but disconcerting….

        • @Coops1:

          Received message from microsoft

          Thank you for submission.

A voucher will be sent out to you within the month.

        • no email too, quite worried

        • i havent recieved anything back after putting the claim through but maybe they dont, and it said i should recieve it within the month…. im sure they meant within A months time

        • Put in my claim on the 27th and received an email from Microsoft requesting a copy of the invoice yesterday.

According to the email due to the Xmas break they will not be processing and verifying the claims till the 12th of Jan.

      • Hi guy's just got off the phone from Harvey Norman and was told the receipt number is the tax invoice number, hope that helps.

  • thanks for that, did u receive confirmation email from microsoft after claimed?

  • I received the exact following message on the page after i submitted online form.
''Thanks for your submission ..A voucher will be sent to you within the month.'' I didn't receive any email.

  • +2

Nokia 630 - Confirmed as above. Harvey Norman issued a unlock code for the phone.
Entered on the phone, no issues.

Also on top of the $50 Coles voucher.
The phone is also eligible for 3 months free Unlimited world Skype calls.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/mobile/campaign-lumia-with-sk…

Download the Skype Gift app from the Store to redeem from the phone. Offer expires 31st Dec so get in quick.

To add, Skype unlimited is $12.99/month so that's $38.97 for 3 months for free on top of this deal.

    • Hi Endless winter, how you get the unlock code, Did u call harvey norman and asked for it?

    • Phone my qualify but region doesn't.

"Unfortunately this offer is not available in your region, the offer is valid in selected countries only. Please close this ap and ununstall it."

Adelaide Store just sell unlock version Lumia 630 (RRP: $199).

    • They sell the Vodafone versions with unlock code, as I just bought one. Unfortunately, however, this was the last one at Munno Para, and perhaps the entire northern part of Adelaide. I believe Victor has some stock though.

    • I got the last one at Marion a couple of days ago. HN guy said the phonee was unlocked but when I put my non- Voda SIM in, it asked for a code.
Thankfully the code was available for free off the Voda website

      • I bought another one from gepps cross and it's still an unlock version. Both are blue color:)

  • The non backlit Kobo (kobo touch) is down to $58! That's super cheap (http://www.harveynorman.com.au/kobo-ereader-touch.html)

  • Looking at the Hisense 60" tv for $990 but can"t find any reviews on it. What do people think about it ? I like the fact it comes with a 3 year warranty.
