Access More Netflix Content for Just $12 for 12 Months - Netflix Launch Day Coupon @ Uflix

1180
moarnetflix

uFlix allows users to expand their Netflix content library by switching Netflix regions. Different Netflix regions provide different content to their customers. By switching regions users can access content that is not available in their region (For example, Australia). Using uFlix users are quickly able to change their Netflix regions and access more Netflix content with the click of a button.

uFlix is a smartDNS provider, not a VPN. Because of this, your streaming speed is unaffected by us. New regions are added frequently and uFlix will be supporting HBO streaming when it is available as a stand-alone service.

Using the promo code, you will be able to sign up to our 12 month access plan for just $12!

Promo ends 25/03/2015 @ Midnight.

Enjoy!

  • Good price for this kind of service (well worth it to access US/UK/etc netflix).

    But I've never heard of uFlix, anyone used them?

    • +9

      We are a relatively new service. Please feel free to take advantage of our two week trial and test us out. We don't provide 100 channels, only Netflix, hulu and BBC iPlayer in order to keep costs down and provide a low-cost solution to those who mainly want to use Netflix.

      However, we will also be providing support for HBOGO when it is released as a stand alone service.

      Thanks.

      • +1

        I'd consider you if you also offered Vudu.

        • +6

          We will be launching a sister-company later on down the track which is a more "complete" unblocking solution. uFlix is a service for users who do not need 100 channels, and primarily just want more content for Netflix, hulu and BBC iPlayer.

          But thank you :)

      • You can simply do what your servicee provides with a free VPN

        • +4

          Free VPNs tend to affect browsing speeds.Using a dns provider should be faster and after the one time setup,most likely shouldn't need any fidgeting with settings.

        • My TV and PS4 both missing a VPN setting :(

    • +26

      Ran out of negs for today. Just replying so I can find this comment tomorrow and neg you.

      • +3

        I liked it :) Well, don't worry, i have donated a neg on your behalf.

  • I am currently using Netflix australia unmetered through iinet, if i use this service will i still be unmetered if i switched back and fourth to US Netflix etc?

    • +3

      Your non-Australian content will be metered. However, your Australian content will continue to not be metered.

      Thanks.

      • thanks for the reply, thats unfortunate for me.

        • +2

          You're welcome. Please feel free to try out the service. It is free for 14 days, so if you don't like it or you don't think it is for you, you can simply just not pay for access after 14 days.

        • +2

          What I'm planning on doing is switching between US and AU services depending on what I'm watching. I'll default to the AU service for a lot of the content, but if there's something offered on an international service, switch - watch it and then switch back.

      • Presumably to get free content from the Australian servers offered by some ISP's you would have to use the ISP's DNS servers. How does your service get around this when presumably your DNS would need to be set to your servers?

        • +2

          We do not proxy certain domains on the Australian node. For all intents and purposes the node does not exist.

          Thanks.

  • +1

    Do you offer DNS over VPN to allow for access via 4G internet.

    • +1

      At this stage we do not offer that, but it is in the works and will be released at a later date.

  • what's the price after the first 12 months?

    • +1

      $2 per month = $24 per annum

      • +3

        that's reasonable

        • +1

          It looks like 12 months you save $4, so $20.

      • +2

        Only if paid monthly. If paid yearly the price is $20 :)

    • +1

      If you pay monthly it is $2 per month. If you opt to pay yearly it is $20 for 12 months.

  • Edit.

  • +2

    What is the difference between your service, and browser addons such as "Hola!" ? Can we use your service on consoles, media players and other devices, or just pc? (That is one limitation of Hola!)

    • I assume you can configure your DNS settings in your router, and it will use those for all devices on your home network? Is this how it works, uFlix?

      • +2

        Correct. You can choose to either set up each device individually or set it at the router level.

    • +3

      Hello,

      Hola can use you a peer on their network. It also will not work on consoles.

      Yes, our service works on media players, consoles, etc. You can even input our DNS servers in your router so all of your connected devices are capable of using uFlix without the need to custom set each device. However, if you wish for each device to be custom set, you can do so by following the instructions @ https://uflix.com.au/setup/

      Thanks.

    • Hola is a 2 way service.
      While you are using it to connect via the US (or whatever), someone else could be using your connection to connect via Australia, and not everyone would be using Netflix, could be all manner of dodgy content going through your connection.
      More info here https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/1qnphj/psa_if_your…

      • The speed you connect to would be limited to the other person's connection too.

      • I don't think the browser addon shares your connection though, I think it's only through their vpn application.

        • Actually it does. Comprehensive Reddit thread on this that shows hola utilises your computer as an exit node regardless of whether you use the vpn or browser addon.

        • +2

          @fatal: I think we differ on what constitutes 'comprehensive'. Quote from that thread:

          The core issue I want to bring up is that the full application (and maybe the extension) operates as an exit node on the public Internet

          Doesn't sound comprehensive to me. The permissions on the extension when you install via chrome only ask for permission to alter and view the data of webpages you visit.

          I went through this and investigated when I encountered the extension and I was satisfied that only the app acts as an exit node. After using the extension for a long time on my parents media centre pc I can say that it displays no evidence of ever acting as an exit node. I am happy to be wrong but I have never seen any evidence to the contrary and the closest thing to proof anyone ever posts is a link to that reddit thread where the author even admits it's only speculation about the browser extension.

          Of course, it's all close source so we can't find out ourselves. But we can investigate the permissions that the chrome extension requires, and they do not appear to be the level of permissions required to act as an exit node at all.

  • +5

    Although I don't know these guys I'd call this a bargain. Way cheaper than UnblockUS at $64 year vs $12. Worth a try!

    • +1

      Thanks! :)

    • +1

      Yeah, I'm with unblockus currently and hadn't bothered changing to save $2/month with another service, but to save $50/pa it might be worth it.

  • +2

    Do I have to signup and pay for a US Netflix account to access the content? Or will my Aus Netflix account be able to access it with uflix?

    • +1

      You can use your aus account and it will just say looks like your travelling away from aus so some content is different.

    • +20

      As esosite said, you will not need a US Netflix account. Any Netflix account will work with our service.
      However, as a suggestion, I would suggest all users who access Netflix (via uFlix or not) should switch their account to an Australian account. It helps Netflix's books look good and helps with competition in the Australian market.

  • uFlix, is this for the life of the subscription, or just the first year?

    Also looks like no Amazon Prime support?

    • +3

      Hi,

      This is only for the first 12 months. If you choose to purchase another 12 month subscription after the initial subscription runs out, it will be $20 per year.

      As far as Amazon goes, uFlix will not be providing unblocking solutions to Amazon Prime. uFlix was set up for users as a budget alternative to other unblocking services. It is aimed towards users who mainly use Netflix, hulu and BBC iPlayer.

      However, there are two points I would like to make. Firstly, HBOGO will be supported by uFlix when it is launched as a stand alone service.

      The second point I would like to make is the uFlix will have a sister-company which will be a complete unblocking solution. That is to say it supports crunchyroll, Amazon Prime, and many more channels. However, it will be more expensive than uFlix.

      Thanks.

  • awesome - signed up. we only use netflix so this seems perfect to me :) bye bye getflix (for 12 months anyway)

    • +2

      Great! We hope you enjoy our service :)

      • +1

        Thanks!

        I've actually got a DNSMASQ config on my home network that basically has a couple entries that says for any uflix/netflix/bbc/hulu domains - go via the uflix DNS. This was the exact same setup I had for getflix and while everything is working as it should - i get a "DNS failed" on the settings page.

        do you know if the DNS test goes via a different domain than uflix?

        edit: ah never mind - its uflixdns.com.au :)

        • Hi ideasman,

          Please open up a support ticket via your control panel with more details and we will look in to it asap.

          Thanks.

        • +1

          Hey man can you post the dnsmasq entries you're using? I also use dnsmasq to redirect a bunch of things so having to change my DNS server entirely is a no-go. Much appreciated.

        • Yes, please help us setting it up.

        • +2

          This is my guess at what the config would look like:

          # Use uflix DNS for these domains

          # Uflix
          server=/uflix.com.au/203.143.83.123
          server=/uflix.com.au/108.61.169.104

          # Netflix
          server=/netflix.com/203.143.83.123
          server=/netflix.net/203.143.83.123
          server=/nflximg.com/203.143.83.123
          server=/nflximg.net/203.143.83.123
          server=/netflix.com/108.61.169.104
          server=/netflix.net/108.61.169.104
          server=/nflximg.com/108.61.169.104
          server=/nflximg.net/108.61.169.104

          # Hulu
          server=/hulu.com/203.143.83.123
          server=/a248.e.akamai.net/203.143.83.123
          server=/hulu.com/108.61.169.104
          server=/a248.e.akamai.net/108.61.169.104

          # BBC iPlayer
          server=/bbc.co.uk/203.143.83.123
          server=/bbcfmhds.vo.llnwd.net/203.143.83.123
          server=/bbc.co.uk/108.61.169.104
          server=/bbcfmhds.vo.llnwd.net/108.61.169.104

          I say guess because I have not used it and am not planning on using it. Personally I use DNS4me because I just tell dnsmasq to use a second hosts file:

          sudo nano /etc/dnsmasq.conf
          addn-hosts=/etc/dns4mehosts

          And then add cron jobs to get the latest version of my custom hosts file and restart dnsmasq to apply changes:

          sudo crontab -e
          0 2 * * * curl -# —output /etc/dns4mehosts https://dns4me.net/user/hosts_file_api/<MY API>
          30 2 * * * service dnsmasq restart

          Which I think is far easier and better since it updates itself, but dns4me costs more (and provides way more).

        • @OZB Al:
          Nice, I need to look into all of this…

        • +2

          @Agret:
          hi mate - it's pretty easy. These are the two lines i'm using:

          server=/uflix.com.au/check.uflixdns.com/netflix.com/bbc.co.uk/bbcfmhds.vo.llnwd.net/203.143.83.123
          server=/uflix.com.au/check.uflixdns.com/netflix.com/bbc.co.uk/bbcfmhds.vo.llnwd.net/108.61.169.104

          just add/remove the domains as you require

        • +2

          @OZB Al: Thanks man appreciate it, dns4me definitely seems to offer some advanced functionality compared to other providers but I guess it's up to the user if the extra cost is worthwhile. I like that you can use it in 3 locations though.

        • @ideasman:
          Awesome. Thanks.

  • I assume this supports the 4 simultaneous devices with the NetFlix premium subscription?

    • Of course :) As long as all of the devices are on the same network.

      • My mate and I were planning on splitting the premium so having 2 connections each (technically). Does this mean we couldn't both have them connected on different networks?

        • +3

          you and your mate both need uflix accounts - but will work fine with the 1 netflix account

        • @ideasman:
          Awesome, thanks mate

        • +1

          @ideasman: This is the correct answer to your question Benjamin7711. Thank you for answering him ideasman :)

        • +4

          its best for you to use dns4me

          • Can be used in more than one location

          https://dns4me.net/what-do-i-get

          https://dns4me.net/pricing

  • I couldn't find a list of supported regions on the uflix site. Can anyone clarify?

    • +3

      from my account page, i can see:
      - USA
      - UK
      - Germany
      - Australia

      • Ripper. Thanks mate.

        • ideasman is correct. However, we will be adding new regions soon. The primary focus was UK and USA content before all of the others.

          Thanks.

        • @uFlix:

          Thanks for confirming what ideasman wrote. Is that information accessible anywhere on the site for those who aren't yet registered?

          Cheers

        • @Trickey:

          No it isn't. We may list the available regions on the main site with the next update.

          Thanks.

  • For those of us who have a dynamic IP supplied by ISP, do we need to update our uFlix account everytime our IP changes?
    Or is there an option to put a host record that maps our dynamic ip address?

    • Whenever your IP address changes, you simply need to login to uFlix. The system will automatically update your IP address once you have logged in. We are working towards a more convenient system, but currently this is how IP syncing is done.

      Thanks.

      • Another issue with this - if you want to log into your account from work or somewhere else - for whatever reason - then the ip address ain't your home connection anymore. That's ok if you live alone or everyone in the house is tech savvy. Otherwise it's not good for the WAF. This should be a high priority to get sorted in a matter of a week or two. Allowing users to input a dynamic dns domain name - like getflix does - should be pretty simple and quick to implement - and should quickly address the issue for those (probably quite a few) with dynamic dns domain names.

    • This is the issue I was having with getflix and iiNet. Was changing almost daily. Easily switched but still a bit of a pain

      • Many other dns services can use one of the free ddns services to update their record of your ip, just get your modem to keep the ip up to date.

        • Yip. This will be an issue for me. I'll prob cancel after a month or two if auto updating is not implemented. I only started with Getflix a couple of months ago and was paying monthly, ie over $3 per month. I'll give this a go at $1 per month as we're only watching US Netflix atm. If it doesn't work out it's a pretty small loss - and after 3 months its close to break-even on what I would have paid on Getflix. Then I'll probably lock in for a year on Getflix.

        • It's probably worth trial hopping on a few different services until you find one that fits you best. Personally I find the features of dns4me far ahead of the rest.

  • +1

    Will you support more regions or are we stuck to the ones currently listed?

    • Hi,

      New regions will be added over time.

      Thanks.

  • So for noobs like me.. Im sing up to netflix australia. Im already watching on my LG smart TV because the app is in there. So if ill get ufix i have to setting up your DNS on my tv config and then how to switch to Netflix USA. or UK.. or all the content will be mixed.

    • +1

      Hi,

      The switching is done via our website. You select a region from a dropdown menu and set it. The content does not get mixed (unfortunately). Each region provides different content for Netflix, so setting a region in your control panel will display that regions content. You can switch whenever you like.

      Thanks.

      • So, the part about Australian content being unmetered, even if I've set it up to US, using an Australian Netflix account, is it still unmetered?

        • We found some of the data was getting metered. We are working on an "off" system to disable our service via the control panel. It will then bypass us completely.

          Thanks.

        • @uFlix: can you let me know when this fix has been implemented?

        • @amelyn: Hi amelyn,

          We will be posting updates on our blog, twitter and facebook as things get added.

          Thanks.

  • Is this service legal or are we kinda in a grey area

    • It's not illegal just unlawful. That is, you wont be arrested but it's a breach of the terms and conditions of those service. If they catch you most likely they will disconnect your service not sue you for millions.

    • +7

      Illegal and unlawful are synonymous in common usage.

      To expound SirFlibbled's comment: no - this service is not illegal (or unlawful) - but using this service to circumvent geo-blocking is a breach of Netflix's Terms of Service and they have the right to take whatever action they state in said Terms (most likely cancellation of subscription without refund etc).

      uFlix - not illegal, totally legitimate
      using uFlix to circumvent geo-blocking - not illegal, but grounds for termination of subscription

      In saying all of this, you are extremely unlikely to ever have any repercussions from using one of these DNS workaround services - mostly because you're still a paying customer. Netflix has to have geo-blocking in place due to licencing.

      EDIT: Assuming neg is due to my interpretation of illegal/unlawful. Using "unlawful" to mean something that is against the rules but not illegal is confusing and archaic, considering the phrase "breaking the law" means to do something illegal.

      • +4

        Netflix has an estimated 30+ million users in countries where the service ISN'T offered. They don't care, they just want the extra subscriber money

    • +1

      The post johnno07 made is pretty much an accurate simplification of it.

      Thanks.

  • +2

    There is a 14 day trial but we have about 30 hours before the coupon runs out?

    • Better try it for 2 days and if you like it, sign up!! :)

  • I only have access to an Ipad. Can I still use this service?

    • If its like Getflix you can change your DNS settings on your ipad. I've been watching the US content on my library for a while

    • Yes you can. Instructions for setting it up on an iPad can be found at https://uflix.com.au/setup/ipad-iphone/

      Thanks.

  • I currently have Getflix(for another 6 months), whats the difference between uflix and getflix? other than price?

    • There is no difference. uFlix is aimed towards people who only really need Netflix, BBC iPlayer and hulu, so the price stays low. We are not a "complete" unblocking solution, and we do not aim to be. We will be releasing a sister-company to do that down the road, but uFlix is there for people who only need a few channels unblocked for a cheaper price.

      Thanks.

      • +1

        Thanks Rep.
        I use getflix only for NetFlix. Would have been cheaper if I didnt have Netflix.

  • +1

    cool deal

    personally i just use Xbox 360 with a US account to access the US netflix :)

  • -1

    How do you plan to charge for this if it's just a DNS server?
    In theory I could sign up, get the server address and then cancel my subscription but still use the server address since you can't use authentication with DNS?

    • +2

      You IP address is dropped as soon as your subscription / free trial expires. As soon as your IP is dropped, you will no longer be able to access Netflix, hulu or BBC iPlayer.

      Thanks.

      • +1

        Ah, so I'd have to associate my IP my account on your service for you to whitelist me?

        • +1

          Correct. It is done automatically once you log in.

          Thanks.
