422

You can get 1 free fiverr gig worth US$5 via appsumo … (Got an email with this promotion … but looks like it is not targeted). Might expire anytime (Update … at time of posting there were over 54,000 codes still available)

You can find more info about the deal here: http://www.appsumo.com/fiverr-freebie/

Use your free gig from Fiverr.com on logo design, computer troubleshooting, website development, voiceover work, or even a clown singing your friend happy birthday!
Use your free gig on ANYTHING you want. Here're a couple examples of what you can get:

Graphic Design Work
Website Development
Video Editing and Voiceover work
Virtual Assistant
Funny videos, gags, and pranks for your friends

You will need to give them your email address and password (for an Appsumo account) and they will send you an voucher for fiver:

  1. Copy your unique coupon code under "Redeem Below"
  2. Create account by clicking "Fiverr" link above
  3. Sign in with your new account and verify your account via email
  4. Find a cool gig and click "Order Now"
  5. On the right hand side of the checkout page click "Promo Code" and paste in your coupon code (screenshot).
if it takes you to PayPal, that means you are not signed in
  6. Enjoy!

(Looks like you need a new fiver account to get the promo code field).

Looking forward to lots of fun OZbargain fiverrs ;-)

Be aware that you can also get a free gig with a referral. (And the referrer gets also US$5 credit when you purchase gigs for US$10) (Thanks andrewklau)

Good deal to update our Ozbargain Gravatar…

    • great idea!

  • i got a TENNA $10

    • Look around - you may enjoy…

  • Worked for me and I'm not a new user, though haven't used the code I was sent just yet so unsure if it works but worth a try, gotta get some artwork done soon so thanks.

    • Might have meant that you may need to be new to Fiverr?

      • oh right, hmm.. will find out soon

      • Looks like you need to be new to Fiverr …

  • Need to set up a referral wiki for AppSumo

    • Would it at work with this deal even if nothing is technically being purchased?

      • +1

No, but the next time that referred person makes a purchase it should kick in. These freebies are probably a good way to get people to register and use a referral.

  • Didnt work for me. I was met with an error page then the code didnt work anymore

You can also get a free gig by being refereed by another user, I believe it works the same way. My account already bought a gig before so this AppSumo promo doesn't seem to work as I don't have the promo code option shown in the screenshot.

Fiverr referral "When you invite your friends they get a free Gig. You’ll get $5 when they spend $10."

  • Code worked and I ordered a Fiverr job (new Fiverr account), however 10mins after the order was submitted I get this email:

    Hi xxxxxxxx,
Your order #FO640020XXXX4 was cancelled by Fiverr's customer service team.
Your funds have been returned to your Fiverr Balance and will be used automatically for your next purchase.
    Thanks,
    The Fiverr Team

Then when I go to login in to my new Fiverr account I received the message "This account is no longer active."

    Bummer

I just read the Appsumo description … and they write: "P.S. Fiverr has NEVER done this before (and may never do it again). We got this for you as an AppSumo exclusive. Get your freebie now and redeem it today before Fiverr shuts us down!"

… mhhh …. "before Fiverr shuts us down". That sounds not very promising … looks like they are misusing the referral system of Fiverr and they caught up on it already …

      • I went and read through the Appsumo deal terms/emails and I may have jumped the gun. If you read the Appsumo email carefully it says:

        1. Create account by clicking "Fiverr" link above

I didn't do that for the first account, I signed up directly on the Fiverr website without using the Appsumo special website link. So I've setup a new account with Fiverr, this time using the link in Appsumo email, and new Fiverr order has been placed. I will report back whether this order rejects or not.

Intersting … but this should not make a difference (in the end they are after new users). Lets see how it works out. I also created an account directly on the fiverr website and so far I did not get a cancellation. It's worth a shot with a "throw away" email …

@mini_wombat: Just to chime in on this, I've purchased a few things through AppSumo and sometimes the systems put in place to redeem the offer/code aren't implemented properly. Sometimes it's just a matter of letting both AppSumo and the other company know the problems and within a couple of days things are working.

        • @marquise:

Yep … looks like it is working. So far Appsumo was always reliable with their deals.

        • @mini_wombat: Update: yes it seems my second order (using Fiverr registration link provided in Appsumo email) is going through successfully.

          Thanks OP!

  • Note the fiverr signup probably won't be succesful through a mobile device as it brings up a popup where you create a username etc.

  • same as the above. I think it has expired.
Your order #FO320030C992 was cancelled by Fiverr's customer service team.
Your funds have been returned to your Fiverr Balance and will be used automatically for your next purchase.
    Thanks,

    • Did you sign up to Fiverr using the link in the Appsumo email? I had the same error as you but when I did this the order went through OK. Refer my comment above

      • yes using the AppSumo link.
Can someone confirm it works if we signup to Fiverr via their homepage?

        • That's the weird thing, when I signed up directly from the Fiverr homepage the job I submitted was rejected 10mins later with the same message you got.

But when I used the Appsumo email link to sign up a different new account with Fiverr then the order went through without problem.

Maybe it was just a timing issue? Either way, get a throw away email and try again on a new account.

  • Maybe mark as expired? I'm getting the same error

Just as a note, I've used Fiverr quite a few times … and would not recommend the quality of work delivered. I know you can't really expect anything for $5, but I've "upgraded" quite a few gigs by 3-4x magnitude, and even the simplest of things have turned out to be awful. Mainly graphics work (3 gig results were just stolen images, 1 gig result gave me clipart, and another one looked like pixelated WordArt). All gigs were with different 'providers'.

Instead, I find AirTasker to be a lot more reliable. :)

Hopefully you guys get to try it out at least - and a free fiver is a great way to do just that!

    • Just out of curiosity, what were the ratings and vote count for the people you hired? I noticed one fiverr who was top rated with 16k votes had 700 jobs in queue with a turnaround time of 1 month. So I went with someone who had < 20 jobs with a 12 day turnaround. Hopefully with less work, their quality will be better.

Glad you had a good experience!

I hired people with high ratings, but quick turnarounds and nothing crazy in the queue, ie not over 3 orders.

Most of them obviously didn't even read my short brief/requests at all, and plagiarised images off the net and stuck some WordArt text on it. Wow thanks haha.

Note if it ends up being not as described, you can request a cancellation / refund. I don't remember the exact process but I kicked up a stink in one of the gigs (plagiarised images for "custom" artwork), and we mutually cancelled.

        Good luck. :)

    • There is the odd gem but on the whole that's been my experience as well.

    • +1

It is a bit hot and miss … you need to read what you will receive. Sometimes you get really good quality with a new seller (as they are new they put a lot of effort in). Don't forget that it is only $5 … you get what you pay for. There are some fun things you can get …

      • Seller gets 4 dollars of the five you pay :| …

    • This couldn't be further from my experience.
I usually send the same brief to 2 or 3 providers, admittedly at $5 each. I then choose the one I like best to do any extra cost work.
I think I have only had one or two duds for 10 or 20 jobs.

  • Created a Fiverr account via the email link and also by the website homepage.
    No luck.
When activating, I get the error: "Account no longer exists".

  • Didnt work

    any gigs people can recommend?

  • Didn't get the email :(

  • Just got an email from Fiverr :(

    Hi xxxxx,

Your order #xxxxxxxx was cancelled by Fiverr's customer service team.

Your funds have been returned to your Fiverr Balance and will be used automatically for your next purchase.

    Thanks,

    The Fiverr Team

balance is zero and the $5 is gone…

Yeah I got sick of the old bait 'n switch crap. But I had spent time researching a few jobs I wanted and I wasn't prepared to throw my time away, so I setup a few dummy yahoo mail accounts (mailinator & clones all failed) and used referrals to get 4 free gigs. Not ethical, but I felt ripped off when they didn't honor the original code when I was doing everything legit.

  • No good didn't work for me. Thanks anyway. Code got cancelled when i tried to use it.
