  • I skipped over the TA post when I spotted it this morning because I thought it was some niche camera deal! So mad at myself why was that in the header though?

  • Wow deal of the century!

  • Aparently jb hifi and eb games dont price match on "clearance" sales. What a load of bs.

    • I got told that by eb as well, guy next to the lady just said that is WAY below cost, no way.

    • +2

Pretty common disclaimer on many price match policies actually.

      • +1

agreed.. NO store will EVER price match clearance sale prices.. why do people think it's their given right to price match for the cheapest possible price? A sales vendor is not obligated to take your money if you offer a price to them, they can refuse the same as if you were selling something and someone offered you a lower price than what you advertised / asked for.

common sense is anything but, selfishness and stupidity on the rise.

        • Not true. I price matched Kmart's clearance price of $40 for Destiny The Taken King on PS4 at Target just this past weekend.
I showed them a photo of the receipt that someone on here took, the guy said they had to call the Kmart store to confirm price and stock, which they did. So he checked with his manager, she said OK, and they price matched.

Albeit, the Kmart store was in an unpopular suburb and the guy looked genuinely surprised and confused after he called them, but nonetheless, they still price matched it. =P

        • @koganei: then time for you to buy a lottery ticket, though I think your luck has already been used up getting the price match.

        • @gizmomelb: I don't think it was luck. Despite what many people think, getting the best price actually takes some effort. I didn't just waltz into Target and walk out with the game.

I actually looked in several different Kmarts first. When none of them had stock, I searched online for a photo of the receipt, then went around to different shops to see if they were willing to price match, JB, EB, finally Target.
If by the end of it, no one was willing to price match or that Kmart had no stock left when the guy called to confirm, I wasn't going to start arguing with the staff about their price match policy or abuse them. I would have bought it at the cheapest price available or not bought it at all. But I definitely ain't giving up without trying.

I'm Asian, haggling's in my blood.

    • +1

The person serving me was putting it through then the manager (I assume) walked past and stopped her just before I paid.
Thats what they told me as well but I don't care if its below price, EB games has a policy, it shouldn't change when it doesn't suit them.
I see it as a lack of integrity and will be avoiding shopping there from now on.

      • +1

i dont think it will concern them if you only shop there when other stores sell out of under cost goods

      • +1

Haggertm. JB hifi do not have a price match policy.
EB games price match policy clearly says exclusions apply - clearance items.

I see your lies as a lack of integrity and will be avoiding reading your posts from now on.

      • Ugoagogo- I normally do all of my gaming shopping at EB. I will always price match to get the best price as i assume most people would.

Zeggie -I have never encountered this issue before and the person who i spoke to was unable to provide me with a copy of the price match policy and i was unable to find it on their website. Jb hi-fi do normally match prices. Im not sure what you're referring to by "I see your lies as a lack of integrity" and i know you think that you're funny but if you could also please refrain from commenting on my posts in a douche bag manner that would be splendid.

  • Can someone upload their receipt for a black 500GB PS4? I got told it was just the white ones.

  • Im guessing its the old model right?

By the way anyone know where to get Bloodborne cheap?

  • +1

Screw JB and EB. Say price match anything at any price. Show them their own policy.

  • is there a game trade thread?

  • +10

Ebgames are A*holes. I was at DS to pick up a couple of Vita games and the manager was having a go at a couple of suspicious looking guys grabbing all the titles off the shelf. The manager told me he knew those guys were from EB next door and was stocking up. They asked about the PS4 games behind the counter as well but the manager told them to come back the next day. Apparently there was nothing the manager could do. Kind of wish I'd picked those games up just to stop them from marking them up again later.

    • So what on offer here ps4 or are games going cheap?

    • buy all the games as cheap as they can and trade them in their own EB store for more than they paid.

    • Why stop them. Let them overstock themselves. Their hidden problem is even bigger than DS. They are the most expensive place to buy games and they moves stocks much much slower than DS.

      • +1

it's more like rogue employees exploiting a system they know they can take advantage of. If they have some EB level where they can trade in and get a really good value amount of credit or cash then they are using their position of privilege as employees to essentially short-change EB. But if EB can on-sell the games for a much higher amount good for them (store and employees win) however with Vita games unlikely (in which case those shifty employees win - taking profits from EB while making those Vita games more scarce for non-store working gamers). I would be all for this practice as fair but since they are in a position where they can trade in clearance games with their own company and get $$$ it is a bit of a conflict and a low form of brodening.

    • +2

Wow. That's low. Just another reason to avoid EB.

    • +1

Eb is going to sell them twice a much as brand new.

    • so? they are their customer too

  • +1

Visited two stores in QLD (Victoria Point & Capalaba) that were showing stock on there system. Victoria Point had one on hold they wouldn't sell, Capalaba wouldn't place clearance items on hold and were cleaned out by the time I got there. Rest of stores showing stock were bit out of way so gave up. You win this time Dick.

  • Taxed!
Bought it with last of us & nba 2k15 and 1 year extended warranty(2yrs total).
    $349. :)
    Thank you!!

    • What? is this a current deal? Why is this the first time ive seen it?

      • same!

    • +2

No stock though, it's an old deal apparently when I called one of the stores.

    • not only is there no stock left in any stores for that deal, it is the notorious first-batch 'Destiny' bundle, that had overheating issues. Apparently the unit would overheat and cause the disc to eject mid-game.

  • 1 more 500GB PS3 at Perth (William St). I grabbed the other one, which had GTA V bundled. No Xbox Ones anywhere in Perth CBD.

    • +1

arnt we all here for a ps4 though?

      • +2

        Well $150 for a 500GB PS3 is pretty good.

  • I wonder how much a 500GB PS3 would go for on Gumtree?

    • +1

      under $150.

      • +2

Brand new? I could see it maybe going for over 150 on ebay.

(Pointless to try to make such a tiny profit though).

  • So whats the post about cheap ps console or games also any cheap xbox one games on offer if so what and how much as be dropping past one in 10 mins to look, dont know ehats on offer here or what prices you guys getting

  • There is a 70% off everything (many exclusions probably) sale supposedly on Saturday, so probably clearing stock at a higher price while they can;
    http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/business/retail/why-the-dick…

    • +1

The sale has already started. Many of the cameras today were selling for upto 70% off. More specials tomorrow so looks like they are staggering the sales.

    • Given stock levels there might be a lot of illusory deals come the weekend. A lot of these really good deals ($300 console bundles) is on old stock, so while they may be advertised as "clearance" still by the weekend the chances of finding a store with stock would be pretty much nil. I am going to hit up stores in person tomorrow (as hours spent calling around DS stores trying to get a store worker to answer was fruitless), even tomorrow I doubt I will find myself a PS4 and XB1 (consoles I still haven't purchased and have been waiting for a price drop for the last six months on, the target deal for $366 for XB1 with three games was the closest I got to getting one but this deal blows everything before out of the water!)

      • +5

How does this deal blow the Target deal out of the water? For the $66 extra at Target you get 3 games. This is no games for $300.

        • Titan Fall bundle came with Kinect and extra game. Three games in Target deal are worth in real terms $60-70 all up and one is downloadable so no resale value. Titan Fall probably only worth $15-20 resale but Kinect offers about $70 worth of value. I don't want to resell immediately, it just gives me a good idea of value and I want to experiment a little with Kinect so really hope I can find that bundle.

I doubt it though since it's over a year old stock most stores have probably cleared. I have been checking OzB OCD like for the past few months for console deals and am kicking myself I didn't read through TA's original post fully yesterday morning. From the header I just thought it was aimed at Camera prosumers/enthusiasts, if I knew consoles were 40% off I would have raced in-store in a flash!

People were getting this for $299… https://ebgames.com.au/xbox-one-165454-Titanfall-Xbox-One-Bu…

Kinect, game, everything. If I lived in Melb I would go down to Bourke St and grab it.

        • yeh $299 doesnt seem that amazing in these days of 20% ebay sales

the people getting them for $150 on the other hand is a great deal

    • +2

Have you not been paying attention? Plenty of stuff that has already been cleared out today. Lol good luck waiting until Saturday.

  • +1

What's the wholesale price companies like DSE buy the PS4 console for?

    • +2

More than they are selling this for. The only way they could be making any profit on this is if Sony were giving them a rebate. Based on what I have read about that current financial status ofDS, it looks like getting rid of stock under cost is better than holding onto it without generating any revenue. This is a short term fix for what has been a poorly performing business for many years, ever since the GFC.

      • there was no need for this heavy a discount on good products though … you need to clear the crap realllly cheap but the other stuff just sell at $50 - $100 bucks below cost and you would still sell it

unless you need a heap of cash to pay bills so suppliers dont cut you off which i suspect is whats happening. Its a tough circle to break free of and generally leads to closure.

  • click and collect says nunawading (VIC) has them…

    • +1

Don't trust click and collect numbers
I went to nunawading a few times to get things and they don't actually have stock.

Saying that at 5pm they had about 10 left.

      • Until the store actually confirms the sale and that the item is in stock, you can't be sure. I'd call each store.

    • I went there, they don't got em.

  • went to Chatswood and Neutral Bay today, no PS4 or XB1 consoles at all (Neutral Bay did had a PS3 for $149)

  • I thought $399 for a PS4 is the going cheap rate? Like the deals that have been on were $420 etc. Is $399 really that cheap?

    • +2

      It's $299

      • +3

Sigh, I am tired today. Thank you :)

    • +2

      man..i remember i paid $600 for a 100gb PS3!!! wt@#$#!!

      • +2

        I paid that for a PS1.

        • I paid that for a CPC6128

        • +1

          @Gravy:
I think I paid that for the Intellivision (maybe not but it was heaps)

        • @PVA:

Apparantly US$300 at launch, but over US$900 adjusted for inflation. Not sure what the Aussie price was.

          Interesting article at http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/12/36-years-of-console-prices-…

Anyone know of an equivalent article for Australia?

        • +1

          @Gravy:
I know it was a heap for me as a kid with their first job, was probably a full weeks pay or more.
i remember trying to tell myself that as I spend XX at teh arcades, it would save me money - of course it didnt.

  • +1

Are these the new model or old model?

  • Doncaster Vic was $299
Managed to get one for a mate at nunawading store as well. They had a few left @5pm.
The console only pack will scan at that price
    Bundles are only slightly discounted.

    • Few left at Nunawading or Doncaster? Planning to camp there early to get one.

  • I was in there today and had very little games/console stuff nothing to get excited about and the games they had was reduced to $20 each can be purchased elsewhere for few dollars more nothing I seen was that special ok if games are much less on Saturday then fair enough

  • Anyone had luck in NSW (Sydney)?

    • following also - anything left at George St, Neutral Bay or Bondi?

      • Forget George St (both of them), I checked at 9am.

  • HAS ANYONE MANAGED TO GET THESE PRICE MATCHED SOMEWHERE ELSE?

    • +3

      shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!

      • +7

        Inside voices. Sorry :/

    • +4

been at dicksmith high point today. found some good price on camera like : sony as20v action camera $99 . shotbox s71 4k action camera $129. olympus omd EM5 twin lens $298 . canon sx510 $79. sony a3500 $149 . i came to davidjohn and bought some cheap compact camera canon ixus145 for $20.70 each for kid.

    • +1

None of those are that great. The real big deals were the nikon d3200, canon 700d/7dm2/6d.

  • Now im burning about buying a Xbox one standard edition (target) via the Ebay deal, this deal tops the cake… amazing price i would have brought both consoles it'll still be cheaper buying both then it is buying one from some places… not only that but it'll be also easy enough to resell for more then just 300…burning so hard hahah. ohwel whats the chances of it being in stock especially at my local Dick.

    • +3

nah man, dont worry about it. Hardly anyone got one… low stock.

      • +2

        So true

        • Thanks guys :)

        • +1

          @Berkboosh:
We are just saying that because we are bitter and we missed out haha. Nah but stock was seriously soo limited. You can still ring around for stock and try to get others companys to price match but I think it's in vain, I tried both options at 10am today. Perth WA.

        • @MaccDogg: Which Perth stores?

        • @GameChanger:
Perth stores, Morley. Morley suggested stock was only registering at the Armadale store. No cigar there either. I asked City JB enex to price match, he recons the "head office computer" specificly said not to price match DS.

        • +2

@MaccDogg: i was lucky the large perth cbd store opened i was the first customer asked about Canon 700D $399 and PS4 for $299. The staff checked system said sorry no stock for PS4 but could get the Canon at the back for me. He then came out with 2x Canon 700D and 2x PS4 on a trolley told me he found PS4 for me. Strangely i was the only one got there after PS4 others just wanted the Nikon D3200 and Canon 700D.

        • +5

          @wtfnodeal:
Damn it. Now I have to hate you. Haha. We went in at 10am, I wanted PS4, mate wanted 700d. He loves the D.

        • +2

@MaccDogg: if you were right behind me you would have got the second set in the trolley. People seemed to like Nikon more though. Anyway, thanks to TA for posting the deal and the helpful staff found me the PS4

        • @wtfnodeal:
Half your luck mate, well done :)

    • Don't be too phased, it was a hard one to buy.
I'm more peeved I never saw the big big post about all this on my feed over 6 hours earlier than I saw this one. No wonder I missed out.

IF this post is your first view of all this, you probably would've missed out too.
This is the one you wanted.

It's because DickSmith have a sale everyday! It's become white noise.

        • +1

Exactly! I gave up checking Dick Smith for sales ages ago. I am only seeing this now, well the other one while the stores are shut. I have NFI what happened, oh well. I may get an obscure vita accessory tomorrow.
