        • I went down to the Bourke Street Store in Melbourne, said they had no Z1 or Z2 Xperia stock at all.
Looks like it's time to try another store.

  • Can some one tell me how they are buying display stock cheaper, the store I went to today advised me that the scan price is the final price even if its display stock, I didn't wanna pay $120 for a PVR that was on display, so I left it, this does not seem correct though even if RRP is $250?

    • yacman - these should have been marked down on shelf for the relevant items. If unsure ask them to scan and show you the price. I think it was only on certain models.

      • Yeah, just a standard "clearance" sticker was there, reports of people getting the same items I was looking at for $26 and $50 approx, so I would presume display stock means heavily reduced even more, however DSE staff advised same price as ticket even though it was display stock.

  • Picked up a remote control esky for $10 retail is $50. Great stocking filler and a novel present.

  • keysborough parkmore is cleared out….dont bother

manager was telling me how she picked up tv's , slr cmeras etc at about 80% off.
other staff scored panasonic 50" tellys for $70
……no stock left for actual customers eh?
….nice sale DICK! (from one of your valued customers) :D

last 2 days ive decided i HATE shops. all of them. cs has gone to crap everywhere. stuff it im not buying anything anywhere ever again

    • +2

No grand sale, grand sale, grand sale in Brunswick and Footiscray??

      • +2

        ….lol ;)

        megalo!megalo!megalo!

    • Not sure how I feel about staff buying up sales stock… I know working there has to have some perks, but surely customers come first? Without customers they don't have a job…
I'd be especially jacked off if they were buying the stuff to sell on GumTree or eBay.

      • i wouldnt mind if they actually LEFT SOMETHING for us to buy!!….:D

  • Tried a couple of stores today; Ingle Farm and Modbury (SA). Was only looking at TVs and PVRs.

Only clearance stock they had on TVs were an LG 40" FHD TV at Ingle Farm and a 40" LG and 40" Panasonic at Modbury. All were around the $500 mark. In terms of PVR's, no clearance PVRs left at Ingle Farm, but Modbury had the Altech PVR9600's going for $89.70 with a couple still left on the shelf.

  • @danzan You the man!

  • All the TVs laptops mobiles tablets on sale were either repaired or display items or discontinued products or old stock 2012-13 ish.

  • It's sounding like the Dick sale is now getting totally into the dregs, with mainly display or returned/repaired stock left..
Only TV I could get on sale at Phoenix store was an active demo, don't know how many hours it had on it sitting powered upon the shelf, so I decined.

Well I've had a very productive day out with my wife. We went firstly to Dick Smith Warrawong and then Dapto and found bargains at both.

The 2 lads at Warrawong were happy and helpful. We managed to score a Panasonic 3D Blu-Ray player for $29.70. Also scored a Logitech G300 for $12.60 (they had no G500's), as well as Shadow of Mordor (PS4) and Farcry 4(XBO) for $20 each.

Over at the Dapto store, the guys here were also nice, but it was obvious they were a bit over it. Apparently management sprung it on them virtually last minute. Anyways, we managed to get the Logitech Harmony Touch remote for $30, a PS4 DS4 charging dock for $9, screwdriver set and plier set for $5 each and 40 x AA batteries for $8.

But then I saw the price list uploaded by Danzan22 (you're a champ mate) and noticed one of the very last items listed on the price sheets he uploaded, the Philips wet or dry shaver, was down from $249 to $69. They had 2 in store and they were ticketed still at full price, but scanned at $69 each.

So all in all, an extremely productive day. I'm happy, the Mrs isn't ticked off with me after spending so much (she wanted a small TV for the room, but didn't find any cheap TVs at either store).

I'd also like to say thanks to the staff we dealt with, you guys were doing the best you could.

I've attached a link with pics of our haul today, along with receipts at: http://imgur.com/a/Ml56L

FWIW, I bought stuff we would only use or give as Xmas presents. There were a couple of other good deals we came across, but left as we had no use for them and would rather share the wealth and let others score a deal too, as opposed to buy just to resell at a higher price.

Cheers to the OP and DSE.

Really like your attitude and recap of your day.

Great to see someone not abusing the hell out of a sale and leaving stuff for slower ozbargainers like me.

      • Thanks for the kind words mate, was a good day :)

Hope you managed to grab a bargain (or 3) too.

  • +1

Someone mentioned the the $230 epilator for $60.
    Whoever you are, thanks.
Hobart store had not ticketed that one so there were a few on the shelf, one less now.
Two types on the shelf, this is usually the more expensive one.
    http://imbbpullzone.laedukreationpvt.netdna-cdn.com/wp-conte…

    • Don't understand why, but when I got to the till with this exact same model, it came up as $219 (original price), despite sitting in the section with the big "up to 70% off women's personal grooming products". They told me all stores operate off the same prices so it wasn't possible someone else got a lower price :(

  • Came back from the Parramatta store, they are busy as heck and a bit understaffed, but staff are trying their best - guy in Samsung shirt helped me out heaps. Got 3 fitbit flexes for 49 each. No more big ticket items but a lot of stuff are unmarked behind shelves (although good luck getting someone to check the price for you, they're pretty much stuck at the tills).

  • Can you bring a 40-60" TV as carry on in a plane

    • +5

Don't tell me you're flying to an interstate DSE to buy a TV and fly it back!

      • +1

That's actually a really good idea at these prices. :>

    • Yes.

If you have your own plane.

      • Thanks, you've reminded me I really wanted a new TV for my plane :)

    • Oh man. I hope you find your TV :)

  • Thanks OP, went to Broadway store and got 2 Lavazza A Modo Mio pod coffee machines for $40 each, also got several boxes of the lavazza espresso pods for $3 a box (down from $13) and the Fitbit Flex for $53 instead of $115.

I have to say, in both times I visited the store (today and yesterday), the Broadway staff were so nice and very helpful.

  • Dick smith George st only had 1 decent phone left oppo n7 I think for $289. Heaps of dis branded chargers for $5 . No cheap tvs or soundbars left.

  • Nothing at DJ's Brisbane CBD
The most tempting thing I could find was a Pink Note 3 for $375. pft

    • Same, I just bought 2 covers for s5 but nothing interesting..

  • +22

For anyone with little money who thinks finding that sweet deal will complete them but has nothing specific in mind, abandon thread now.

It's pain, stress and jealousy the whole way down to rock bottom. Go buy yourself a nice dinner and lock your phone, this is not a satisfying way to live

    • +1

      I'll bring a sixpack

    • Too true, i'd hate to hear how many people went for a bargain, but ended up buying something else anyway, just because they were in their, then got home and thought, "Why did i even buy this?"

I'd say DSE have done very well out OZB and the rest of the public, we have done exactly what they wanted.
Given them our money, in exchange for mostly outdated stock or items marked down not much less than they buy them.

      • Ye, the only thing I really wanted were DSLR or mirrorless cameras. They got us well with their old stock that they were having trouble clearing out.

    • sobering comment….and so on the money :P
i walked in & honestly couldnt have given a sh*t either way. had a nice chat with the manager (shes a cutie) & left.
its just as nice not to spend i find ;)

  • DSE must be making a mint with all these sales.
Might have to buy DSE shares after all.

    • resist the temptation of Dick!

    • They are basically writing off $60mill of stock. Hardly a vote of confidence!

  • +2

Great sales galaxy tab s for 149 some in Burke St this morning bought last one from Doncaster. Also Toshiba encore 8 for 48 also got last one. Lillydale had 2013 nexus 7 for 50 as well.

  • Have started checking prices on their website, some stuff seems to be cheap and available for click and collect

Logitech Harmony Ultimate $100 was $489

    • Got me excited for a second, but get a "sorry, we couldn't find that page" error when clicking through to product and get a 'This product is currently out of stock" when trying to add to cart from the search page.

I can still see it my location is set to Adelaide though

        • +1

It appears in the search results, but the actual product page doesn't exist.

          http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tv-video-accessories/logitech-ha…

        • Product page does not exist tho, I really want some kind of harmony in Melbourne, our lounge set up is way too complicated for my mum lol

Is the Remove Control Ultimate ONE part of the sale or?

        • @sloshie:
          Says out of stock now.

        • +1

          @yacman:

It was normal price at the store I checked with this morning. Note that the 'one' version doesn't have the hub and uses IR, where as the one that has been on sale (but there appears to be none left in SA - grrr) uses RF so can be used with equipment in cabinets/other rooms etc.

  • TvS were gone from fountain gate, cranbourne & Doncaster this morning. Doncaster has a fair few laptops left and a display galaxy note tablet left that was really about it!

  • +1

If you are not happy with the situation ie. staff at either DSE or DJ's hoarding stock call head office and mention these threads… Or email Mr Abboud, and cc in The Age, Herald Sun and Today Tonight!!! Don't whinge about it!!

  • If someone could update me on the state of Wollongong store? Stupid long work today, so I won't get out there until 6 or so :(

    • +1

Same old stuff as yesterday.. Didn't see any new specials, the clearance desk was pretty bare and all the good phones, cameras are more or less gone now. Lots of check phone case but nothing to write on here about :)

  • Looks like I missed out on the kindle deals :-/ The click and collect shows up as out of stock temp. Any chances I can still get it in-store somewhere? Really need it as a xmas gift.

    • You should be able to find it in-store (if they have stock of course). I don't think too many people were looking for them since it was only a slight discount for an older model.

      Good luck :)

  • DSE George street has nothing. "from $1 prices as marked!" Signs yet one thing on the shelf has a marked down price lol

    • sounds like my local store…
a few bins of games some really cheap ass pliers, powerbanks, cables and the rest of the store just like normal….
      pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.

  • Iphone 64GB 6plus gold is on sale but not in stock. I've been to 4 stores today and didn't have the chance to grab one. The only thing I got was Dicksmith alkaline batteries 8pack for$2.

    • how much was the iphone 6?

      • no idea. I was after 6 plus

    • how much is it on sale for?

      • $979

  • +3

its supposed to be a clearance sale but a lot of people visiting the stores walk away with nothing, as a lot of items arent really at bargain prices….so not sure if the intention to sell heaps is being achieved….

    • Everything I have looked at in Toowoomba has been regular prices when checked with cashier. A bunch of tv's getting purchased yesterday but mainly Seki and DS brand.

  • Is there a dick at DJ chermside…?

    • Not anymore. It's been closed. There is a DS store of course. Appreciate an update if anyone goes there…

    • What?

    • yes there is, planning to go in the evening to have a look

      • So there is?

        • There is a DS and a DJ store in westfield chermside. if thats what ur question was.

        • @joshmachine: Ha Ha nah was asking if there was a DS inside DJ. Think it has closed down in there. :) Cheers for response though!

  • They have a bunch of tool kits and cordless drills for cheap at Macquarie centre store (about $20 or $30 marked down from $120-$150)

They're dick smith branded tools though so probably not the best quality.

    • 'dick tools'?
      hmmmmm…..not sure about that one

      • dick smith branded tools

  • There is one (if it's still there) open box galaxy tab 4 10.1 at Macquarie Centre David Jones for $149 if anyone interested

They also have iphone 5S but wont sell it for $349.

No discounted ipads. Few bose earphones left. I saw one nikon S6800 for $49 and one samsung WB350F for $59.70. Didn't buy any.

    • $349 is the price on DJs for 32gb iPhone 5s

Edit: just saw out of stock, sorry!!!

  • +5

It looks like an OZbargain meet up at DS Emporium Melb, all the TA's are here, but filled with disappointment as there are virtually no bargains to be had. Made 2 enquiries with 2 different staff. Don't waste your time coming to this store…

  • +3

Oh hOh how mysterious? Staff were told they can't purchase clearance items. One employee just wore a hoody in front of me covering their staff shirt and purchased security cameras put aside earlier. Is that sly?

    • +14

Not sly at all. I bet you if anyone of us worked at DS we would be doing exactly the same. People are upset as the staff are getting some good deals and they aren't.

    • +2

take a photo and post online. Media will love it!

    • Lol I saw a staff member carry 2 boxes of security cameras into the back from the floor

    • +5

Come on…they are customers too when they are on break or before/after shift.
Let's not be mean and say they can't buy anything because they work for dse.

      • …or we can be mean and say they cant buy anything….cause you know they work there and thats kind unfair if they exclusively get to cherry pick the best deals! :P

        • +2

          Why shouldn't they?
If you are in their shoes perhaps you will too?
They have to have some perks working it rough out there for the rest of us to shop.
Don't get me wrong…I don't agree if they are buying in bulk to earn profit through reselling.
But to spend their precious break time or after/before work hours doing shopping, I can't see anything wrong….

    • If not so sly why do they need to do it in their lunch break? Why put aside what you want before customers have a look? Yet yesterday when I went in asking for a price for something in particular they said I can't ask until the ticket goes on the floor. Oh how many stories.

      • Not at all. Change the business type then. Okay staff buy first then customers at 9. That's rubbish. I remember working in two car parks and no staff were allowed to park in there during work hours as there are very limited car parks reserved for customers. We were willing to pay $30 to park except still not allowed. Same for here. Otherwise why would they get sent an email?

        • Point taken and I agree they should not breach company protocols but neither of us know what was communicated because we don't work there.
Let's just celebrate great bargains and not bag the staff who are working so we can get what we got/going to get ;)

    • +5

      That's terrible.

Unless they're also an OzBargain member … in which case, that's terrific, good score buddy!!

    • +3

A hoody, that is nothing, the Sales Rep helping me, saw how good the price was of what i was buying, and said "I'm going to get one too", so we both walked to the shelf and grabbed one each, leaving one in stock.
I couldn't care less, in fact, i was happy that he was happy to take the same thing, saved me working out which of 15 similar items was the one to get :)

  • just visited the on at indooroopilly shopping center qld. not much good stuff left, was hoping to get a cheap monitor under $100. the only thing they had was a 18 inch for around $50, grabbed one and saw the screen resolution 1366 x 768, kindly put it back to the shelf…

  • Does anyone have an unlocked phone price list from today? Or yesterday? I'll compare to what they still have instock, since nothing is labelled. Hoping to score a sub ~$50 one.

    • There's a list in the description taken today

      • Unfortunately the amazing Danzan's list seems to be all locked-to-network phones :( unless I missed a page when I printed 'em all out

Anyone buy a Huawei or Oppo at a good price?

    • Xperia Z is around $50, LG g2 $134. Liverpool NSW has one Xperia Z but the screen is cracked

      • Is it just the Xperia Z's on sale? There's a couple of M's and C's. No LG's sadly

        • I am not sure but that all the guy that work there told me. They had 2 Sammy ex display tab as well. I could not make up my mind and then regret one get sold in front of my eye for 149

  • I personally visited Chadstone and Victoria Gardens today…. It seems all the items on clearance are pretty old stock and most of them are display pieces. I found nothing attractive and left empty handed.

    • Any clearance non display soundbars or blue ray player recorders left?

  • Seagate 5TB Expansion $149, I took one and left one at Stocklands Townsville.

    • Nice, that is extremely tempting. :/
If I was in the store, it would be worse… It would be in my hands, Trying to restrain myself.
