I restrained myself from buying the second. I told my head I wouldn't need one for at least 12 months…it didn't think that logic had any merit.

        • Well with normal specials you can currently get them for about $210, so in a year they should be at least down to around that price point.

I have 5TB in internal HDDs in my computer, and at least 2 portable 1TBs so I'm alright at the moment.

  • +1

Not sure if these are part of the same deal, but appear to be decent prices IF you can find stock for click and collect
    LG 55" TV $334.70
    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?urlRequestT…

    Samsung 65" TV $899.70
    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?urlRequestT…

    • +2

mentioned those before, think stock is all out

      • Thanks, bummer.

    • LG is 50hz, would better to keep looking in my view.
But price is good if you really don't care.

    • +1

Great price! It makes the panasonic 40inch for $500 I got today look expensive!

      • To be fair I think at this point a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush… Potentially zero stock nation wide for the two on DJs website. I wouldn't be disappointed!

        • Yep, you're not wrong.

Very happy with my purchase :) Plus the TV I got is over $1000 everywhere else.

  • Should I get an ex display Toshiba encore tab for $48? What does people use tablet for because I have a 5" phone already

  • FWIW - very slim pickings at DSE Coffs Harbour. There's no really notable markdown items available/left…I had a good discussion about it with the Manager, Alex (who I must single out for special attention as he was uber friendly, helpful & professional) who advised as this store is one of the newer ones they don't have a lot of the older stock like other stores and generally this is the stuff attracting the really notable discounts.

Special shoutout to fellow OzBer, Danny who came in and hopefully I was able to put onto a few decent buys - but there's not a lot left at this store (apparently there's a bit more over at the Toormina one).

Again much thanks to the DSE Coffs Harbour store, they're in a less than ideal situation & handled several difficult customers VERY graciously and professionally. :-)

PS. FWIW i picked up a few of the DSE branded home security products (marked down to $2/$5 each) and also the Panasonic DMR-PWT530 PVR at ~$37. Though this was a display model and didn't come with a remote control! Got a universal remote with it BUT tricky to use & several key functions very, very hard to get to! e.g TV guide takes about 5 presses to access!

On the very rough chance anyone knows of a good universal to suit this unit or knows how to get replacement remotes please feel free to msg me. Much thanks. Nick :-)

    • Did the PVR have a power cord at least? Cause I have a friend in one of the stores saying all the display PVR's have no power cord? I understand the remote but not the power cord.

    • Nice post Nick I got the same Panny DVR also ex display but thanks to the Northland staff got all the cables, remote and instruction book as well. But for $37 can't complain.

    • Ask the staff to go out the back and find the box for you. Without knowing how they work would assume for display items they keep the boxes and accessories if they have room. Another fellow OZB bought the LG one and also got box and all accessories as well. Mine all looked brand new.

      • Will get them to ask. But the staff at this store are not being helpful at all by the sounds.

        • My friend asked multiple staff members before one actually checked out the back and surprise surprise found the box. Thanks for your help guys much appreciated. As Im at work and sending friends on errands. lol

    • +1
      • Thanks. Cheaper than $54 from Pana Aus.

      • @ToastySteve, oh mate thats a GREAT find - much thanks! Really appreciate your efforts!

Also to everyone else, much thanks for your very fast replies and advise/help!

Thankfully yes mine did come with a power cord (though I'm pretty sure it's the standard smallish '2-plug'/figure 8 style plug seen on a lot of small appliances so chances are you'll have another one floating around at home.

I did get the box and manual but the staff looked very hard but said they could not find the remote. C'est la vie.

Much thanks again OzB community. :-)

    • Nikko, I got the same story when I tried looking around yesterday. Managed to get XBOX ONE controllers and media remotes on Wednesday for awesome price, and all staff seemed very surprised at the price. I priced a Logitech Ultimate yesterday at the Toormina store and no luck, and laughed when I told them how much people were picking them up for… Said no way, and had heard stories of people picking up $1K TV's for $200 up at Robina but that was "probably because they're closing down".

    • Regarding missing remote…

Picked up a 1TB Panasonic twin tuner PVR for $10. But no remote, box or manual :( Model DMR-HW220. Manager offered to reduce price before I asked.

Remote from an old Panasonic DVD player works on most functions. It lacks coloured keys to set up more complex scheduled recordings & operates through the menu rather than direct keys.

Otherwise one of my Harmony remote will fix that - by downloading codes to remote.

      • +2

        $17.66 delivered for a knock-off remote (not genuine) :)
And I'm sure you've already found the manual

        • Buy a remote at almost twice the price of a 1TB PVR - never ;-)

I've got a few Harmony so will program one soon. Downloaded manual as soon as bought. But being an Ozbargainer, I'll read it one day.

          But thanks :-)

Was pointing out to Nikko that price can be reduced for missing remote & there are alternatives.

  • Managed to pick up an ex display no box dick smith 40" tv for $105 at 9:30am
Also got an ex display asus F555L i7/8GB/1TB/gt920m/15.6" for 599 which seemed ok. Not much left tho, there was a pvr for around 90 and a chromebook for 150 both ex display.
This is Gateways Success, WA store.

    • I was going to go there to look at phones at lunchtime, doesn't sound promising..

  • I was the first one in the store under Myer in Sydney today and they had 1 iphone available

    • It was a cheap price ?

      • iphone 4s, ex-display, $149

    • MYER have dick?

      • Dick is below the Myer Centre.

  • What you think about Phillips Blueray player for around $50? I know there is not comparison with Samsung blueray which is$39. VIC Garden have some Phillips BR players.

  • +2

Was in the David Jones Hay Street, Perth yesterday and today, not anything decent left as they don't really hold old stock there.

    • +1

what about the 2 cbd ds stores, you've been there as well I assume.

      • Don't bother with DJ Garden City, it doesn't have an electronics area apparently. Only the city one does.

      • They were the place to be, but most decent bargains have gone already.

Now its more of if you need something then its a good time to buy instead of holy crap I don't need it but its worth buying at that price!!!

  • +7

Nothing much of interest in Swanston St store in Melbourne. Just a bunch of ozbargainers bumping into each other while looking at their phones.

    • +1

      A la dodgem cars style!

  • +4

Snagged a 50" LG HD Plasma for $69.70 and an LG 40" LED Smart TV for $239. Murray Bridge store. None left apparently now. Happy Days.

    • +1

crazy deal on the 50in. can't believe there are still some floating around up for grabs

      • I know! It was there with no tag or model number on it. As I was there with the list posted here, I stuck my head behind it and found the model number. It was on the list! So I grabbed a worker, and they confirmed. Was lucky on that one.

    • +1

Think I saw you in there this morning, nice find, I must have missed that one yesterday and again this morning!

      • +1

Ahhh! Were you the 2 guys in the same work uniform?

Yeah mate, they wern't really in a hurry tagging anything, so I was going through all the TV's and checking the model numbers lol.

        • +1

haha yeah that was us. I grabbed a few games and a couple of bluetooth speakers, not much stock in there so hard to find the clearance stuff

        • +1

          @scottr:

Yeah, I found it easier to have the list and hunt for the numbers. I reckon they will have more stuff, they are just pretty slow in there getting the tags out.

Although, I must say, the lady in there was great with me, and went hunting the back for the remotes and manuals for the 2 tv's, and looked on the system for stuff.

Probably see you again tomorrow. haha. :)

  • +9

Bit disappointed at the luck of respect some people show when bargain hunting. Yes everyone wants a bargain, but abusing staff and threatening going to the ACCC or Head Office does not solve anything especially when you don't get what you want.

Also side note some people, really? You don't bring a receipt when you are trying to get a refund? and when someone does tries to help you retrieve a sale you yell at them for not doing their job???

      • Gen Y to a T.

        • Fairly sure this self entitled attitude extends far beyond just Gen Y

  • +2

    got a Samsung 3D Blu-ray 500GB player BD-F8500A display model for $35

and a Navman smart GPS for $80 down from $300

    • hi mate what model was the navman?

      • there is no model no as such, it is smart GPS 1.0 with DSE item no. as D9210

  • Has anyone had any luck getting other places to price match on the larger items? E. G the price drop on the Samsung tablets.

  • Camberwell store had the price lists out to look at however some people were just hogging them. No tv's left. 1 iPhone 5c for 249. Some Xbox games and toys left

  • can i find good deal samsung tablet in brisbane/gold coast anywhere

  • +1

No one will match (I think one guy got lucky) as these are clearance items, not advertised online or in a catalogue and no stock. Girl in JB laughed at me basically, guy in Myer was a bit more polite.

Don't know if anyone has tried HN but I'm sure they would be the same.

    • +2

HN will probably give you a price increase

    • Well it is a clearance sale.

  • Thanks OP. Got a Samsung Note 10.1 3G for $199 at DJ Hay Street and a Netgear D6300 for $126 at DS William Street in Perth :) One each were left after me.

  • Thanks ta. Grabbed a toshiba encore for 49 and a nexus 7 2013 for 50. Both were ex display but couldnt resist at that price.

    • +1

I ran into an ozbargainer in a store today, he had a laptop with him with a price list opened up. He was struggling to find a bargain, was a sad site. I'm guessing many ozbargainers wasted a fair bit of money on things just because they were a good deal. To me that's not a bargain.

    • you mean sad "sight" or you are referring the "site" of DS that you saw him?

      • +1

he was sad to see that OZbargainer was struggle to find bargain even with his laptop.

        • +2

so it was a "sight", not site =)

    • Welcome to ozbargainenomics - you spend to "save". Hey it's fun at least.

  • +8

I asked the lady how much the $129 headphones were, they said $160 :/

  • Got a Samsung galaxy tab 2 8.4 for $140 at the Australia Fair store. Except I got the demo so the screens slightly permanently burnt in… I wonder if the extra screen protection insurance I paid for will work for this case.

    • i cant see how a lcd screen is burnt in.

      anything else at Aus Fair.

      • +1

        I think he means Galaxy Tab S 8.4. :)

      • its like because the main menu was always on the screen of the tablet, if you use it now, you can see the main menu faded/burnt into the screen.

as far as Aus Fair goes, not really. Most of the phones were gone (there were still a few samsung galaxy s5 and s6 but werent that cheap). Hardly any cameras, tvs or audio on clearance. Although if you wanted to get games then this is the best one to go to out of the 3 stores on the coast.

        • thanks for that. may drop in for a game or two.

did you go to the other stores - say Pac Fair/Robina?

        • I went to the robina / mermaid one yesterday so stocks may vary now but there were literally no games at mermaid and limited selection for robina (destiny/fifa 15/order 1888/evil within).

    • its on sale for $149 new. it seems. (its the only 8.4 they sell)
      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-8-4-16gb-wi…

  • Picked up an iPhone 5c and GTA5. Staff were nothing but helpful at every store I visited in North Brisbane

    • U go into Toombul?

      • Yes.

Absolutely dead in there. Camera section looked pretty much wiped out. A bunch of Fitbit Flex for $48 though. Okay selection of gamee. What were you after?

        • Ahh nothing much… just checking if there was much there. Was going to drop in after work.

    • Sorry, just wondering how much for that iphone 5C? is it ex mode or brand new sealed in box, thanks.

    • It's funny. I went to the toombul store brfore 9:00AM this morning. They have checked the system. No stock of iphone 5C in any of the north Brisbane store. How did you get the iphone 5C?

      • They had one left at Chermside. Got it at 10.30. The Strathpine store actually directed me to Chermside or Toombul for stock at 9.15

        • Chermside DSE doesn't sell Apple product. Only toombul has apply. I have been to Chermside at around 10am, but no luck at all.

  • Swann DVR8-1425 scanned at $1200. Is this a different product to the one on clearance or is someone pulling my leg? I asked a staff member what was on on clearance and was told they are "working through the whole store", and wouldn't actually tell me.

    • DVR8-1425 should be $235.60. Down from $589.

You must have picked up DVR8- 3425 which is $900 ish

      • Ok thanks. I thought it sounded too good to be true ha ha

  • Did someone say they saw Tony Abbott in store? His pension did take a hit.

    • Don't believe everything the media tells you!

  • +1

Perth DJ. I got an older Bose OE2 $29. None left, pommy accent guy took about 6.

Got the Bose cinemate 120 for $600. Was the last one. Most Bose isn't on sale, only the older lines. There was one Bose 1sr which sold for $400.

Thanks to a fellow ozbargainer who dropped me home.

    • +1

      Damn Pommies taking our Boses

    • +2

Now that's such a nice thing of them to do! I must say, the interactions with other site users was actually half the fun I think!

      • Appreciated it!

It's fun, met a few yesterday too, kept asking each other what to get haha.

    • Was considering making the trek into DJ's in the city - is it worth a look?

Not much BOSE left? What about other home audio soundbars etc?

      Cheers

      • Nothing left with Bose. The current line up isn't discounted.

Didn't check out the other brand sound bars.

    • were the bose ones on display or boxed? did you have to ask for price?
