    • Mate I just got a 32gb one for $315. Dont buy it.

  • Saw some 54.5" and 65" DSE branded tv in Morley Galleria wonder why people wouldnt buy it? It is on clearance for $209 right? I know not great quality but $209 for 55" tv still quite cheap.

    • +2

I can't speak for other people, but I'm personally quite picky about the TV quality - $209 is still $209, and it would be a waste for me to spend on something that I'm unhappy with.

(Plus, who knows how much longer DSE itself will be around? The warranty on DSE branded products will be worthless if it goes down.)

  • Anybody know if there were cheap universal remotes?
Bought a display Bluray Player and no remote.

    • Yep

      • How cheap?

        • +1

I believe the Logitech Harmony Ultimate One - Remote only was/is $30? (RRP $200+)
and the Ultimate with Hub (RRP $489) was $100 and probably is still $100 if you can find any.

        • +1

@golferpat: Close, the Harmony Touch was apparently $30. :)

The Ultimate One is current stock, so no discount.

        • @flumpf:
Yep, one store had stock, wouldn't hold it… got in and found out it'd been nicked.

        • @sqeeksqeek: can confirm, may have been me!

  • Anybargain in SA?

  • +4

I am getting pretty lucky. Just snagged the last Sony Xperia Z Ultra Unlocked for $74.70 Mt Barker store.

Said they are all out of the TV's, sold most yesterday, and only have a few S5's left for $498.

    • Well done, I've been looking for a Xperia Z or Ultra Z all over Perth… :-(

  • +2

Both Innaloo WA stores have crap all really.

  • +1

Local WA store still has decent amount of games, has like 3 ex-display blu-ray players (sony/Pana/LG I think), nothing else really jumped out!

They said something about Saturday as well, but not sure if they've heard that from their superiors, or from here!

Also spotted a Panasonic WiFi adapter for $1.50… I was like "wow I wish I had Panasonic gear, just to get this bargain!" Haha!

    • When I've been looking at stock levels for things, the stock has been all in WA. Cheap PVRs galore. Innaloo, DJ hay St and cbd rings a bell for lotastock

    • Whats the 'local' store .. still hunting the Panasonic 3dplayer / PVR (not that I can go anywhere for a few hours now)

      • +2

Midland - Grt Eastern hwy (not midland gate)

They have all the PVRs on display, but nothing marked down below $100 or so (usual 'sale' prices sorta thing)

  • I have a question. We have found most stores to be out of stock of clearance items. But still have stock of non sale items. Can we assume they will go on sale at some point too? to stagger the sale and get people coming back multiple times?

  • If anyone wants anything specific, Chatswood Chase seemed to have a 2012 Macbook Pro 13" Retina for $899 - ex demo.

    • +1

Not to be rude… but a almost 4 year old model ex demo for $900 is pretty terrible. So I expect 1,000 apple fan boys are running red lights to get there now because they love an overpriced piece of tech! I kid kid. Or do I?

      • Pretty much why I didn't buy it. The positive thing going for it is the Retina display, which still command a decent price on eBay seen a couple listings for about $1000.

  • +3

Big thanks to Indooroopilly QLD Dick Smith clans (Centro, shopping centre, DJs), lots of patience despite being busy. Got a nice Bose Solo 15 soundbase from the DJs store at about 1pm.

    • +1

How much did u pay for? 251.60?

      • Aye $251. I went there looking for a cheap $30-60 range soundbar so I wouldn't have to spend $200 on a soundbar, left paying $251.. Ozbargained myself.

Hope the other guy loading up on some other Bose gear successfully avoids the wrath of she who must be obeyed.

        • Damnit, I was in there at 9am and only got the RAR soundbar. Staff said no other clearance items =(

        • @spazattack91:

damn it ~ I wonder if they have any left….

        • @spazattack91:

The boss was not happy with the purchase, so it has to go back (box is unopened). If you are interested send me the details and we can work it out (probably take it back to DJs and you can grap it straight away)

        • @CJ31: Thanks so much mate but I think I'll give it a miss. My new 50" TV looks to be a little too big for it. Plus the missus will probably kill me if I buy anymore gadgets… I'm sure you understand!

        • @CJ31:

          @cj31

I'll have it! Pm me :)

        • @blehgg:

Ah sorry I took it back that afternoon when spazattack91 wasn't interested.

        • @CJ31:

All good ~ picked up the Bose Cinemate 15 instead

        • @blehgg:

          Well done!

        • Nice :)

        • @blehgg: how much was cinemate 15?

        • @dealsniper:
my bad.. it was the cinemate 130….. ~ $750…

  • Guys I just came to know from one guy that not all the stores are shutting down. Only the one in very remote places. So those store will have even greater bargains I suppose.

  • Got an Altec Pvr9600 (1tb) for $89. Hope it is a good deal.

  • Did you have to do anything special to get them to sell you demo stock?

For example if they have speakers on display, did you have to request that they specifically sell you that stock?

I asked about a specific Harmon Kardon speaker, it was the only one and the rep just said "yeh, its demo stock".

    • Get the model number and then ask a staff member to kindly look up the price.
Its the demo models that are on super clearance prices

  • Is diablo 3 Xbox 360 $10 a good deal?

    • +1
      • What about Minecraft for $10, or is it a bit outdated?

    • +3

$12 at EB. As long as it's a half decent game and a genre you enjoy, why not pay ten bucks for a game?

      • Thanks guys, gonna go for it.

    • I got it from EB games for $12 from the last sale, so yes!

  • A guy at my local filled a bag with about forty $1 Apple chargers (30 pin). Think they were Belkins. Seemed pretty chuffed with his haul.

  • +1

Will there be a friday sale?

    • Assume it may continue, big question is what will they mark down next.

  • +3

Missed out all the good deals but I got a deal of my own today at DJ Brisbane city. I got a Bose Lifestyle 135 series 3 for $1000 down from $3700. After using 4 DJ gift card I bought from last Amex promotion and factoring cash rewards cash back, effectively I got the system for $800. Unbeatable price

    • Nice!

    • Any chance with receipt?
      They quoted me 1479
      Tks

  • I've seen a few mentions of MacBooks. I am assuming there are no mac mini's included in any of the sales?

    • -1

      unless ex demo…

What is going to happen with all the Apple demo stuff in store - like Emporium? Saw the manager yesterday talking to an Asian girl for a while, she was flipping over all the Ipads and Macbook's on display and checking the serial no's on the back…

      • Saw the manager yesterday talking to an Asian girl for a while

Must be buying them for selling in China. Just like the baby milk formula.

        • +2

          lol

        • lol maybe he is doing her a deal, seemed pretty chummy.

        • +3

I don't like how the staff aren't upfront about the deals, you have to tease them into a convo and engage in alot of small talk, it's tedious when you've visited 5 stores already. What happened to being fair dinkum and straightforward.

        • @FrankMt:

Perhaps they are on a commission?

        • +1

          @A3Australia:
You need more charisma points to boost your conversation skills and increase the likelihood of accessing contraband wares.

  • Central coast still has Xbox One controllers. The tags still have them as full price but they scan up as $23.99.
Xbox media remotes and PS4 controller too.

The Phillips $20 headphones are super comfortable :)

    • Hmm yeah i tried ps4 ones and they came up at $80 :(

  • Dupe sorry.

    • good price, even compare with amazon US.

The ex model for 16gb is $99.

  • What is the cheapest people have got an iPhone 5c 32gb for?
    Does $299 sound right?

Have found 2 at that price.

    • good price, even compare with amazon US.

The ex model for 16gb is $99.

  • Apple iPod Nano 16GB $97 Brand new

  • Picked up a RAR Soundbar for $26! Not bad to match this with the 55" dicksmith TV which has average speakers

  • can't believe i missed all this, and i'm in the market for a tv too. worth going back tomorrow morning and saturday morning in case of restock from warehouse, or more items joining the sale list?

    • +4

Rumours around there being discounts on Saturday. Might be worth keeping an eye out for

I'm sure you'll hear about it on here first :)

      • awesome, hopefully I'll find something. thanks!

      • +1

Someone associated to dse replied to one of my comments saying there won't be anything more other than what's already reduced (which kind of makes sense since a lot has already been sold). Then again, that isn't going to stop some people from lining up outside on saturday!

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223201?page=5#comment-3257…

        • Have been told the store managers don't even know what will be on special until morning, and new things have been added to the lists. Area managers are even pitching in some stores tomorrow and Saturday.

        • @sqeeksqeek: Oh that's good news then, might be worth waking up early on a Saturday after all!

    • +1

      Edit: beaten by above ;)

  • +2

65" X8500 Sony UHD 3D yay or nay for $1200?

    • Sounds pretty decent - saw a 55" UHD Sony for $1499. Then again not actively looking at TV's

    • A workmate paid 3k for something similar a week ago.

He paid too much imo, but at $1200 it's a bargain as long as there's not too many hours on it.

  • +1

MacBook Pro 13" retina i5 256 SSD 8GB ram yay or nay for $800

    • Where may I ask?

    • Wheres this? Anymore there?

      • 2013 model no more last one someone put a deposit on but decided againsr

    • +1

Absolute bargain, basically the same as the 2014 models with a 0.1gHZ faster processor.

  • Yes

  • Yes for tv
    Maybe for MacBook

  • I went to DSE Collonades today.

Every barcode I checked it was always a couple of digits out.

For example DSE TV 31.5 inch with DVD meant to be $69 but was $240ish. Asked why he said it had a different GE number. Checked it to the list and it was out by a few digits.

Thinking Dick is just dicking us around.

    • Noticed that too. The same TV I bought I saw at another store for $699 and it was the exact same I thought. Model number was different but specs were the exact same.

    • +1

yep i went there too, spent a good hour there comparing model numbers and there was nothing interesting to get.

  • +1

Went to DJ Robina, very quiet but alot of the home entertainment stuff got taken earlier in the day I believe.
Anyways, I picked up a pair of B&W P5's for $148, very happy with that.
Was deciding between that and the P3's which were $79, ended up getting the P5's cause I'm impulsive.

There were 2 white P5's and around 10 or so P3's when I left

  • Went back to DJ Bondi

    Panasonic XS1 cameras $40. 2 left
    Sony WX350 camera $99
    Nikon S6800 camera $49. 5 left
    Seagate 2TB USB3 3.5" drives $59. About 15 left

    • Can you please send me a photo of the ticket for seagate

      • I bought the 3TB ones for $79 each. All gone now. Still want the receipt ?

        • No. i needed 2tb one to claim price protection

  • went to DJ perth and got a bose soundtouch for $159, Samsung monitor 22inch for $79 bowers & Wilkins wireless music system for ipod $79.. all done by now

  • Went to the DS and DJ's stores at Parramatta today. Couldn't find anything in the DS store, but DJ's was much quieter and managed to get:

TomTom Go 60 GPS for $79.98
    LG 500GB PVR HR836T for $49.80
    Samsung 500GB PVR BD-F8500A for $34.80

Really happy and surprised I was able to get these at lunchtime. The guy who served me was lovely and even found the Samsung out the back for me when another blu-ray player I wanted wasn't available!

I didn't get a chance to get the details of much else, except they had a few different TomTom's for the same price ($79.98), as well as a few navman's. Also saw a Kindle paperwhite for $99.

    • The Samsung BD-F8500A was $89 at DJ when I asked them to check the price. The reviews are pretty bad for this unit.

      • For $35 I'm happy to give it a shot!
