Got a brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (10.1, Wi-Fi, 16GB) for $99 from DS and a brand new Yamaha ISX-B820 Lifestyle system for $299 (down from $999) from DJ

    • Mate that is wicked. Was there a lot of stock left.

      • Last ones:( An ex-demo tab 3 and Yamaha speaker on display were also sold for same prices just after I bought.

    • How the hell did you get that deal! My local dse had no tablets left on clearance (they were galaxy tab s)

  • Picked up last acer iconia from fairfield for 47 some guy picked up a Toshiba encore 8

  • +1

Ugh, found a guy on eBay that just listed various items from this sale. Poor form :(

      I'm a fan of this guys work…

      "Brand new. Never played.
didn't need it because I already had an Xbox
      Glacier White 500gb PS4 from Big W"…

      http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/balga/playstation/brand-new-p…

He didn't need it. He just decided to randomly pick it up from "Big W" and then sell it again.

      • May or may not have been from Big W
      • LOLOLOL amazing even the description is Borden. Also it's a girl! Emily.

  • +3

    Name and shame

  • Picked up the last Bowers & Wilkins P3 headphones $79, Bose QC3 $99 and Revo pico DAB radio $20. Might be old stock but some quality in there. Headphones were still in sealed boxes.

    • which store was this?

  • I got Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 inch 16 gb from Chadstone.

    • How much was that?

      • No price listed… must've been free…

      • $299

To those that shop at Indooroopilly, David Jones has some Bose sound system left (was $2000-$3000 or something marked down to $850 or so) and a couple portable speakers, some Taylor Swift gold headphones down from $250 to $60 or something and not much else as they are a brand new store and likely never had the old clearance lines.

But if you weren't aware, the Move (?) store close by is also a DS store and they have a bunch of cameras in a bin out front, a fair few headphones, some portable speakers and some phones (brand new iPhone 4S locked to Telstra for $199, dunno if a bargain or not) and heaps of other android phones, LG, Sony, Samsung etc, heaps of Laser tablets, some Kindle Fire and just display model Asus and Samsung tabs.

The actual DS store had next to nothing left. The laptop and tablet displays were close to empty with floor models sold off. Only a bunch of set top boxes, recorders, blurays left. Only Skylanders on Wii and PS3 in terms of gaming and a bunch of those Laser tabs.

I have to give credit to the staff at both the Indro DS and Move. They were really doing as good a job as possible given all of the crowds of people asking what was left, was non ticketed stuff on clearance etc. I got approached in both stores twice by the guys there and was impressed that they were upbeat, helpful and not over the whole thing.

Congrats to those who got good deals. I missed out, working all day yesterday and today I simply got there too late. Would have loved a $99 PS Vita and a tablet.

        • I'm from Adelaide. What did you end up getting over the last 3 days?

Top 3 things you got, GO!

          • Bose cinemate 520
          • 700D TLK
          • 3200 TLK

Supposedly marion had a shit load of goodies. I wonder who got them

          ie,

          Canon 7D
          2 Macbook Pros
          Bose lifestyle 135

Not sure who got them though, hopefully ozbargainers..

        • @Alfonso: went to Marion today (chatted to a fella in a Trengove Shilah shirt) and nothing much at the DS. However I got a Phillips soundbar and sub for $39~ at DJs Marion.
Got a Logitech Harmony Touch on hold at Arndale so yeah..

    • Nothing exciting me…

Those laptops were packed lying on the floor from day 1.

  • +1

It'll be interesting to see what is happening tomorrow or if it will be Saturday!

  • Is it just me or is each day the deals are getting less and less decent. Don't get me wrong, still great from Dick but compared to those console deals - night and day. I also spotted some old (first release) beats today on display at a store (not the store I set up sticks for the day hoping for stock to come in) but the manager said they were part of an integrated display and that they couldn't sell them for the $6 (or whatever was on the price list) without permission from head office (and he didn't know when/there was no way in telling when and if that directive would come down). True or BS?

    • +1

BS, had a chat with DSE staff and they said they unbolted a few mobiles and headphones from display to sell to customers. The only thing they don't own are the BOSE display pieces that are bolted to the walls.

  • employee at bourke street (VIC) said there might be some restocks and further sales in the next couple days but probably nothing as dirt cheap as yesterday. we were talking about TVs though so he might have just meant those, and he was also just a floor worker not a manager.

regardless i'll go in tomorrow and saturday morning!

edit: since some people have mentioned that not all deals are marked, how would i go about asking an employee? if i asked them what clearance tv stock they have for instance, would they be likely to just tell me all of the prices? or is it best to just go in with the day's price list if it's available

    • Would they restock early in the morning? Don't think there's any point heading at 9am if it's just yesterday's stock.

      • wouldn't they? i assumed they'd restock from warehouse before the store opens.

        • Couriers deliver through the day so unless stuff was delivered yesterday i wouldn't expect anything new in the morning.

  • The 2 ds I went to had heaps of stuff around the only things missing were go pros, security systems, and maybe a few soundbars. There were tvs everywhere.

    Edit, nothing bigger than 55

    • which DS? are you sure they were clearance tvs or just regular?

      • I checked a few codes against the list, most of the clearance ones were in boxes on the floor ready to go it the door.

This was in Kippa Ring, and Northlakes

  • Galaxy Note 10.1 display model for $139 from DJs Marion.
Olympus E-PL5 $198 from DS Marion, last one I think, there were about 5 Nikoin V1s left.

    • nice work Jaxx, were they the white or black nikons?

      • I got whites V1s myself because black ones were $99, not $49.
There was one black left and about 5 red (could have been pink?) ones left.

  • Got another Panasonic 3D blu-ray player DMP-BDT360DN $41 and Nikon J2 $88.

Originally the lady reserved the Red for me and got sold by the Indian guy even with a note on it. Make me so angry and finally she found a black for me better than without it.

The nearly Coles sold out all the DSE gift card. I have to go to another one to buy them.

    • How is the race of the person who sold it important?

I got served by a bunch of Caucasian males today but I dont put that in their description..

      • I know I know ….. I should say the guy …

      • +2

Actually, now that you mention "Caucasian males" I've just realised that Crime Stoppers is incredibly racist.

      • +2

Its about quick identifying points of that individual in his story.
That Indian guy, that guy with the huge beard, the girl with the Ramones haircut cut etc.

        • -3

Its funny though.. With the description of DSE staff.. I have only heard of guy or girl.. nothing about white guy behind counter.. So still wondering why the race of the person is relevant..

        • +3

          @nedski:
          Quick identifying point of staff.
Doesn't have to be race could be tatts or pink hair. In this case, being Indian was an obvious point of differentiation with other staff members, so he added that to aid identifying the staff member in the context of his story.

        • +1

How do you know he got huge beard? Not a joke it is true.

Anyway when I said Indian guy I didn't mean what some of you guys think, just like Chinese Aussie, Japanese. If I said sold by the Japanese guy I don't think I will get this response, So may be you have race in your mind for Indian.

BTW I worked for Indian before and I have Indian friends and Indian colleagues now and I myself is not White.

Actually he is very friendly and he is the one told me he found a $10 Panasonic blu-ray home theatre system and asked me whether I want it. We then talked, smile and I thanked him so much. After I knew he sold my red camera and I didn't show my unhappy and didn't said anything just let it be.

        • -2

@superforever: you didn't say anything to him about it, but you came here & felt the need to report it. Like the guy at Target who said the lady serving him opened up the game accused him of trying to return a opened game and he took the game and left but felt the need to come to ozb and create a forum discussion about it and rant about her.

        • -3

@King Tightarse: But there is no need to identify the individual beyond establishing him as a separate employee. There are two employees in the story, one male and one female. Furthermore, the individual store was not mentioned and has no relevance to us as we won't be interacting with the mystery store or staff.

Thus the quick identifying points of reference would be male and female or even Employee A and Employee B.

So mentioning that the person was Indian is quite peculiar. I'm not as caught up about it as the other person but in an environment where Caucasian is seen as the default and all other races have some sense of 'other' with associated potential negative consequences IS something to note. With clarification it seems that in this instance the individual merely happened to latch onto that particular descriptor without it being something malevolent.

        • +2

          @jacross:
Why mention male or female? Are you sexist? How absurd.
How about biological entity 1 and biological entity 2?
If you're inferring negative characteristics, that's your problem.

        • @Max Power:
          "biological entity 1"
Classic lol, I will steal that.

        • +1

          @jacross:
There is no need not to identify race either, unless race is a sore point and "cannot be discussed".
Put it in it's natural context: someone sticks their head in the door of that Dick Smith and would need quick identifiers of the various biological entities. So it's the girl with pink hair, the guy with the beard and tatts, the Indian guy with glasses or the bald older dude.
It's not at all racist. Are we so PC we cannot mention race when it is contextually relevant?
          I hope not.

    • You must be white…

  • Are move stores on sale? With a trip?

    • Yes they are. See my post above on this page :)

      • Nice. You couldn't find a tablet at move?

        • There were two Asus 10" (forget the model) for $49 I wanted but two guys were holding them and calling someone to come get it. Pretty rude imo, they would have been there for 15-20 mins until their friend made it into the store.

Other than that they had two display model Samsung's left $149, lots of Laser and some some Kindle Fire.

I actually wanted the $199 Windows 8 HP Stream laptop (DS have up to 40% off W8 models) but the staff said they weren't following the exact sales as proper DS Stores. So I dunno.

  • Man was a waste of time at Burwood NSW. Only thing on special was the 30 pin iPhone cables and chargers and phone/iPad convers. Plus some random PGA tour 2006 type Xbox 360/PC games for 10. One decent deal was a Asus or Acer i3 laptop ex display for 299 but had some noticeable wear from usage and the back was cracking ish. Staff were helpful but weren't really aware of any of the deals here. I was told that the actual sale was only meant for regional stores which had old stock, makes some sense as most of the people posting here are after scoring a good deal are WA and Victoria, hardly any action in NSW.

  • +3

Big thumbs up to the 3 staff at the Joondalup, WA store this evening. I made my way there after work not really intending to buy anything in particular. Spent about 30 mins in store looking around and asked the staff if there was anything left that they thought was a decent buy. They happily took time to show me a few items and made mention of things that they had sold out of.

Didn't see anything I wanted but ended up purchasing a Toshiba Satellite P70-A0LX for my brother-in-law who's been looking for a new laptop. Paid $599 - Toshiba lists them at $2,199 rrp. Good buy I thought.

    • +1

Not a bad on the laptop especially if its new. If we werent spoiled with all these crazy prices, people would be patting you on the back for that price. Well done!

    • Was this the last one? Looks to be a good buy and the Joondalup store is close by
Im also in the market for a decently specced laptop - I like the large screen size of this one

      • Yeah it was the last one. They had 1 other similar spec laptop but it was $999. Sorry I can't remember exact brand/model.

    • New or Display?

      • New. Staff said it was just old stock and had been sitting in the box out the back at full price which is why it had never sold.

        • Can you please check what the category code of the item is - should be on the receipt.

I cant find this specced laptop on the DS site - but if I've got the item code i will go check other stores stock levels

          Thanks for the replies

        • Apparently there was no new one and only a display which wasn't purchased..

        • @Samantha93: I got the impression it was new. Perhaps I was wrong. I didn't actually purchase it at the time but the staff member let me put down a deposit to hold it so I could come back later with my brother-in-law to pay for it. Anyways, we couldn't get back the same night due to various reasons. But when he went in the next day (about 11am) to pick it up they had sold it earlier that morning. Needless to say he was pretty pissed off! Assuming someone out there is pretty happy with their bargain laptop… :(

  • Was headed down the peninsula way, and stopped off at the two stores in and around Frankston. Wanted a Z Ultra…got a Nexus 7 2013 32gb instead.

Forgot to check for xbox one controllers/games! Oops!

May check victoria gardens on the way to work tomorrow, but I assume all the xbox stuff is gone…

  • any news on what is on sale today?

    • Laptop today

      • They had laptops yesterday :(

To be honest I am not really sure what I was hoping would be on sale, everything has been covered already.

  • I reckon this 70% off thing for Saturday that people have mentioned could potentially be 70% off the remaining sales stock, as in stuff that hasn't sold in the last 4 days will be reduced further in a bid to get rid of it. Could be way off, but was an idea I had.

  • +1

Anything else on today apart from laptops or all dicked out lol.

Worth hitting up any stores in case they have release stock from out the back?

  • I notice a few tv's have disappeared from there web site. Current model tv's. Also the price has dropped another $40 or so dollars from prices yesterday on items that had a special saying ending yesterday now say flash Friday sale.

But I also agree that Saturday's 70% will just be off the existing clearance lines. Makes no sense to loose money on current models when they are on stop with so many suppliers and can't restock.

  • +1

There is no way in hell i am turning up to a dick smith on Saturday. Madness… it will be madness.

    • Just take some grid iron armour

    • +1

I don't think anyone outside ozbargain will be queuing up. The up to 70% will just look like a regular ad from the newspaper and those people wouldn't know whats on sale.

      • Except now it's on the front page of one of the most viewed websites in Australia.

        News.com.au

        • Yes but most products aren't even marked and everyone would just end up clueless like most of us OzB with DSE staff acting like they don't know whats going on.

  • so what's happening today??

    • Just cases and other phone accessories

      • is that it??? o well, maybe they're getting ready for tomorrow

        • We can only hope :D

        • Or they have now cleared out the old stock. I wouldnt be surprised if Saturday is nothing new, maybe further discounts on old stock that didnt sell this week.

        • +2

          @2pro4sho:

The DSE I was at earlier has quite a few new Dse TV's at the front of the store with no price on them, as well as some LG smart led TV's. Neither were on the reduced price list yesterday (the wife and I checked the item numbers on the TV and they didn't match any models on yesterday's list) … Perhaps it's stock for tomorrow's deal?

  • +1

Anyone good with shavers? Philips Sensotouch 2D is $59 down from $250 at my local, never used an electric shaver though. Thoughts?

    • Bought 2 for $69 a pop yesterday at Dse, $59 is damned cheap. As for quality, can't say, but the price itself is very good.

Fwiw, big w is selling something similar for $148 atm

      • +1

Go try yours out and report back :)

        • +1

Can't, they're Xmas presents, sorry bud!

        • +5

He might not be shaving the same area as you tho. make sure its the same area for accurate measure.

        • +1

@Baltoski: All good. I went for it. Also scored 5 x 180 bulb LED light sets for $10 each (down from $50 each).

    • I grabbed one and used it yesterday. I don't know much about shavers but it seemed to do OK to me. It wasn't as close as a regular razor shave but i'm told that none of the electric ones get as close.

      Hi Aurotaro,

They had some cheap ones at Canberra Civic for $150 - $300. Not sure if they are still there. Can check at lunchtime and let you know?

They aren't superfly, like AMD / Celeron / Atom processors.

      • Ahh right, thanks for the help mate, honestly you don't have to go out of your way, I might pop in to a couple of stores during lunch today anyway but was checking if anyone had some cheapie's floating around.

But yeah if you do happen to go and find any laptops, just reply to this and I'll have a look around in Sydney for the models. Thanks!

and the Acer Switch 10 for 299 http://www.acer.com.au/ac/en/AU/content/series/aspireswitch1…

Both of the above were sighted in Brisbane stores. Not sure if you need something bigger than these, just all that I can think of at this point

      • thanks mate, i'll have a peek around in Sydney for stock. Cheers :)

Got a HP Officejet Pro 8620 Printer, list price $229.

    $100 off.
$50 cash back via redemption from HP.
~$40 back at tax time as it's for the home office for work.

So about $39 ($129 up front) for a pretty decent printer.

    • Could you link me to the cash back? I got the same printer but I can't seem to find the cashback redemption webpage!

      Cheers
