  • Bankstown store was pretty much cleaned out of clearance stock, I bought a Samsung Galaxy Notepro 12.2" 32 GB, 4G tablet for $599, it was the last one they had. Not an amazing deal, but its still a great device. Staff was really nice and helpful too. There was a HP OMEN Notebook 15-5009tx display model on clearance for $1,399 but it wasn't in the best condition, might still be there today if anyone is interested.

  • keep any good deals picked up today. Might hit CBD Melb ones and DJ at lunchtime.

  • -1

I think most of the stores had it. Wanted to check up on what was going on sale and none of my local stores picked up. And just when I was warming up to dse too…

  • I'm in the market for a decent smartphone - would normally consider paying $400ish. Any idea if there are phones that normally sell around this price on special, or if there are good phones that have been reduced to this level?

    • depends on the smart phone
      Saw a Z2 yesterday for 374

    • This one isn't at DS, but might be an affordable option for you
      http://hometheatrelife.com/ulefone-be-pro-2-impressions/

I looked twice yesterday at DS in the Unbranded phone section, really wasn't any fantastic deals, apart from the Xperia Z which would all be gone.

    • LG G2 for 134.

  • Hi guys, anyone got the Sony hx60. Could you please give me a copy of the receipt.

    • Hoping to pricematch?

      • No harm done? Would be interesting.

  • Its because they were busy in-store dealing with oz bargainers

  • Any Xperia Z's left in Melb CBD?

  • The few stores I have visited have no stock left on special.

If ALL stock is on sale tomorrow it will be ok for the early arrivals however currently it seems most of the deals were to be had on Tuesday.

Was at Indro and overheard the manager say that today is same as yesterday a day tomorrow is the big one. There was also a sign up saying 70% off clearance lime displays and they had taken down a bunch of them and placed on floor, so I assume these are on sale. I didn't ask though.

  • If anyone knows where a Bose HT system would be available (around Brisbane) such as T20 or 520, or purchased an extra one PM me

  • +2

I have a good/bad feeling about tomorrow. Good for everybody who didn't blow their load already, bad because I have already purchased $1200 year and half old display TV and $800 2013 computer (good prices compared to RRP but given 13/14 models and display maybe not so "great" still pretty happy). Overheard the head talking with the shift manager early this morning; getting the shift manager to call up everyone he has to get on duty for tomorrow morning, he genuinely sounded scared there wouldn't be enough staff to cope. Head also wanted a list of any staff who refuse to work tomorrow. If staff are refusing to work because the deals are so crazy (they would rather not come in and get paid than be faced with a stampede) then you know something's up.

Staff are also very coy about speculation on tomorrow when I asked so it seems something's happening. Also noticed a new bunch of cartons out the back (as you can see the back from in front of the carton). Asked what they were the store worker told me 'new stock' that they weren't clearance. Most of them looked old though (DSE branded stock some 42") so I was very cynical. Also overheard in the conversation that customers "front of counter sales must be prioritised (when it comes to calls)" and that staff have to be told "only take calls if there is no one waiting for assistance".

    • +1

Staff are probably refusing to work because they've been advertising all week that there is a massive sale on Saturday, but all the stock is already gone. They'll probably have to deal with a lot of angry customers that don't read Ozbargain etc… lol

      • And all this media hype generated throughout the week will come to bear on the weekend. As weekends are generally busy anyway for retail and most people have 'Saturday' in mind as big for sales. Also I should say prioritizing of in-store customers vs call sales is nothing new (or unexpected really) but cements the serious nature of this weekend and the flood of people expected.

      • Hopefully more newer discounted stock for comfort them.

  • I got an ex display Samsung galaxy note n8000 10.1 for $129. It was a display model and I'm regretting it. It's quite old tech (2012). If only I could get the tab s 8 inch for $149. I'm giving it as a gift but because it's a display set it looks pretty rugged. Should I return it, not sure if it was good value. .

  • Told mattress rates don't work in DJ?
    4TB segate USB 3 $99….. Worth it?

    • for sure, what model? I got one scanned and it came up at $179.

      • Expansion desktop…
        PC model

      • I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday ($179) in a regional DS store.
        It made me wonder?

        • It is only those with the green writing on the box that come up discounted. The orange box is the newer stock which isn't discounted. I tried both.

    • Narellan store? Someone just grabbed the last two before I got there. I got the last two 3TB for $79 each.

  • Picked a couple 16000mah JuiceUP power banks today for $20 each (last 2). And a Moto G moto 8GB dual sim for $40. Be good to use to burn through some cheap sims I got.

Murray Bridge store had around 15x10000 mah juice up banks left in silver for $25 each.

  • Any cheap coffee machines left Melb CBD?

  • Civic dick smith was trying to sell what was literally their garbage (damaged floor stock no boxes no accessories blu ray players without remotes for example) alongside over priced laptop

  • Anyone know if the rumours that tomorrow will bring further discounts are true?

Skimped on a couple of things because of this.

  • got a note 10.1 2014 for $211, display stock, screen has bubbles underneath, gonna try the warranty way out for replacement.

    • Can they check how long it has been running for?

  • "Check out our MAMMOTH Clearance Sale in-store today! Grab up to 70% off selected TVs & Audio + more!"

      They're selling Mammoths?? Want

      • +5

More chance of scoring one of them than a cheap tv

      • +1

So there is a sale of items that don't exist anymore in any store and cannot be found anywhere. Mammoth, hmm..

Wow, even the Dick Smith website servers are on sale.

Must have been a good deal cause all the data is gone:

    • They would be getting hammered in store right now. Phones off all hooks for the next 48 hours.

      http://s9.postimg.org/dkcs368vj/readers.jpg

      • What is going on? Did it start midday today? Facebook down (redirects), main site down, news website comments down.

        • +1

Started on Tuesday. They've only really advertised it on their media sites over the last day or so.

        • +1

Front page of news.com.au today. Just went into a couple of stores, and there was about 10 times the traffic compared to when I went in the last couple of days.

  • Hardly, a groundbreaking deal but snagged one of these from the Brookside store this morning for $5. Originally $30. There was about 4 or 5 on the shelf.

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:_Ae717x…

Had to use Google cache as product not listed on live website currently.

  • For anyone in the Illawarra who's chasing a Vodafone Xperia Z, there's still one at Dapto DSE in the locked cabinet next to the wall of phone covers. Still ticketed at $318, but if you get the guys there to scan it chances are it'll show at the clearance price. Sorry, didn't check the item number to confirm whether it is a clearance item though.

    • I was told that the Vodafone version is not marked down at all, only the unlocked version. I hope you are wrong because I had one in my hand yesterday!

      • Just checked the price sheet linked in the OP and can't see the Xperia Z listed, but people have posted previously about getting a Xperia Z cheap (around $50 or so). Unfortunately I'm unsure which is on clearance and which isn't, perhaps someone else who bought a clearance Xperia Z could chime in with whether or not theirs was unlocked/VF etc?

      • Did you end up gettng that Xperia? There is an Xperia Z at my local store as well but apparently because it's Vodafone supplied it's not marked down.

    • There is 1 in branden park, vic yesterday. Scanned price is $199

  • Picked up a BD-H8500A for about $80, and LG BR625T for about $80.
A LG 48inch Smart TV 3D Full HD "UA48H6400" for $399. Was out the back. For $399 they were selling 32 inches Panasonic. The LG was store stock though.
Are these good deals. Just picked up an hour ago.

    • which store?

      • +1

Woodridge. I was loading the Blu Ray players into the car before coming back to check the TV and they said be careful in case I get mugged… and don't leave the Blu Ray players in view or they'd break into my car lol. Bought the last items of all though.

    • UA48H6400… Its an LG 48" is it?
Seems Samsung also took that model number.

      • Sorry yea its a Samsung

  • +1

Most of the TV's are prices you will not get anywhere else, pretty much ever. So just depends if you can live with parting with the money. I got a 55" LG UB820T UHD TV for $599. Wasn't the best deal out as that would ahve been the Samsung 55" for $199, but it is bloody good in its own right. Plus I love it and it's a massive upgrade to what I have. Also got the LG sound plate, so got an ecosystem started now haha.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    • Just set up the Samsung 48inch Smart TV 3D Full HD "UA48H6400". Wow the sound and picture quality is great. Great upgrade for my parents. They had an old Panasonic. Checked the BD-H8500A and they selling for around $400. What a steal.

    My measly summary..

Plus to DJ's Bourke St the guys were awesome. Asian guy (not stereotyping) was going to buy a returned MacBook pro not sure what the issue was but the sales guy was telling him he couldn't claim it under warranty but he kept arguing.

    My quick summmary.

DSE Bourke St crazy people everywhere only got 2 Epson MF Ink Cartridges for $10 each.

Emporium not as busy but still a lot of people, didn't buy anything. One guy buying 20 Timex Ironman watches. Glad I didn't buy one looked cheap and nasty.

Went to DJ's Bourke St - staff super helpful.

2 x Move Iphone 6 plus carbon cases $1 ea.
Mossimo leather case for Iphone 6 - $10
    Toshiba genuine wireless mouse $10
Belkin wireless extender plug in powerpoint $29
    Ipad Air Move case $3
    Lightning car charger $3
Samsung Gear Watch for $50 bnib

    • Any Logitech remotes on sale??

      • A few. I got the Ultimate for $100 and a few others, there was one for $30, which I think was the harmony.

        • $30 Touch, $100 Harmony Ultimate Hub.

Harmony One and Smart Control are full price for some reason.

  • Apparently all Westfield stores are having a massive sale on Saturday as well. Just saw it on the Tv.

    https://www.westfield.com.au/supersaturday

  • so whats the deal on all this heavily used ex display/demo (ie 2nd hand) stock?
    do full warranties still apply?

    • Yes. I got a TV, still 12 month warranty.

      • well thats good :)
manufacturer or dick warranty….?will dick be around in 12 months to honour warranties??

what a bizarre sale….cant really get my head around whats going on here. unpriced clearance items, staff buying out sales stock, a sale that starts saturday but everything was sold out tuesday, huge discrepencies between sale stock availability….this things a fiasco~!

        • Manufacturer. Wasn't Dick brand, so not too worried there.

  • Love a misplaced tag. DS Wollongong… Sony bluetooth headphones down from $129 to $39. Tag was on the wired ones, so no one was buying.

    • DS Wollongong staying open later this arvo.

  • Where can I get the Nexus 7 for $49 in Sydney? Anyone seen one? :) thanks

  • Has anyone know which stores in south australia have any of the harmony touch remotes left?

    None left at Elizabeth

    • I've been looking and off my head Noarlunga, Golden Grove, MtB, Murrary Bridge and DJ Adelaide said they all had one, apart from DJ Adelaide which claimed they had 4 whoever they're mysteriously gone.. " "
      RING them first

      • They wont hold so i wont bother :(

        Thanks anyway

        • Lucky, I got them to hold one for me last night
The two stores I went to today told me they aren't allowed to hold anymore, so I'm very lucky!

  • Still great deals on desk and portable storage.
Point and Shoot and SLR cameras, was heaps in the regional stores i visited today.

    Seagate 2TB Portable HDD $99
    Seagate 2TB Central Storage $89

It showed no stock online for the stores.
But went in and it was right there on the self with yesterdays price tag.
    Scanned, even cheaper today.

Might pay to re visit some stores.
And lets see what tomorrow brings?

    • which point and shoot. which store

      • Too many different ones to mention.
I really wasn't interested, but i remember seeing Sony, Samsung and a couple of other brands
        Geelong and Ballarat.

  • +1

Im at civic ACT and there is a samsung galaxy smartwatch rose gold for 79.98.

Not sure if this is a good deal or if i need it.

Also picked up another jabra solemate bluetooth speaker for $30.

    • +4

simple…if you dont need it dont buy it :)

seems to be a lot of people are impulse buying for no particular reason other than its being discounted / they cant resist a sale :P

    • Which galaxy mate? Gear 2 or Gear S?

  • If anyone is still interested, Dick Smith at Kotara (the big outside store) still has maybe 6x eneloop 8 pack tropical left as of closing today (Friday).

I was there picking up my 3 from my C&C order, and asked how much they were.
They scanned at $55, and I couldn't be bothered trying to talkthem down.

If you the persuasive type, you may be able to get them for $5.

  • Hey guys
Just a question for this who bought a soundbar, how did you connect the soundbar to the TV? I bought a high isolation 75ohm coaxial cable but it doesn't seem the right one… Any help will be appreciated

    • Should be via optical I would think…

    • +1

LG sound plate wireless to LG TV :P

    • Toslink SPDIF Optical Audio cable, costs range from $5-50 depending where you buy.

  • Does the sale prices still carry over until sold or everything goes back to normal price?

Shame there doesn't seem to be anything happening over the weekend.
