Nice price but note that it's grey import, no band 28 (700MHz).

    • +1

HI - I'm not overly tech minded. I'm about to press purchase on this deal but am wanting 4G speeds and will be updating from an Iphone 4. From what I can determine - 700hz one bandwidth for 4G. I use Amaysim as my service provider and so not exactly sure what not having the ability to use the 700hz band will mean for me. Can someone please Pauline Hanson me (Please explain)?

    • +1

My friend got a 32GB from Kogan this wek and it was the 791 with 700mhz…

      • Can anyone else confirm?

        • Got my 16gb today and it is the H791 model.

      • but Kogan is like to source models from whereever, some may have band 28 some might not.

    • -5

Even if they had Band 28, the deal breaker is no microSD slot.

    • band 28 confirmed?

  • +2

Well, at least Ruslan didn't up the price of this item (Kogan online (not Ebay) store price is currently $359+$23 delivery, so $382, same as Ebay price before discount), but ppl have reported other items have increased in price due to the "sale".

    • -2

but ppl have reported other items have increased in price due to the "sale".

And none have provided any proof that the increase was immediately before the sale nor as a result of the sale. One example offered a price two months old as proof of Kogans deception!

      • Well, Kogan's online store is currently selling the LG G3 D855 Black for $349 + $23 delivery, $372. Usually, the online and Ebay stores have the same price. In this "sale", the Ebay store has the LG G3 D855 Black for $392 before discount. Sorry, not going to bother doing a Web Cache search to check Ebay prices just before the sale but it seems well documented that this behaviour happens consistently.

Most of the people that make this claim have no idea what they are talking about and don't bother to check the history of the listing or the sales listing nor do they bother to see if there was a sale on that just ended like happens with retailers like the The Good Guys.

Let's look at your claim which sounds good but when you look at the FACTS are shown to be utterly bogus and yet another false claim of Kogan raising their prices. Don't get me wrong I can't stand Kogan but the continual accusations being made without any proof are bloody annoying.

        • Basically the same comment from me on the LG G4…. It really is slack and defeats the purpose of ebay paying the discount.

More in your face breaking of consumer law. It really is getting out of control. The only good guys are the Good Guys who don't get into all of the sale pricing fraud. Would be good to see them recognised by the government/ACCC, but I guess that would just be the ACCC admitting they don't do their job.

          @Major Mess:

Basically the same comment from me on the LG G4…. It really is slack and defeats the purpose of ebay paying the discount.

Great another person who cannot do maths or bother to check before they post their false claim.

          https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/lg-g4-4g-lte-32gb-black/

So what exactly is the issue here? Your inability to add two numbers together or your hatred of Kogan causing you to post false information?

More in your face breaking of consumer law. It really is getting out of control. The only good guys are the Good Guys who don't get into all of the sale pricing fraud. Would be good to see them recognised by the government/ACCC, but I guess that would just be the ACCC admitting they don't do their job.

How is it getting "out of control"? What is sale pricing fraud? The inability of people to realise that prices change for various reasons. Oh wait and now you claim it's the ACCC's job to check EVERY price before something is listed! The ACCC acts on complaints so if you feel so strongly make a complaint but expect them to tell you where to go when you present the above facts.

@Maverick-au: This is where you are wrong… He does jack up prices and here is the proof you so desperately want…

Go to this item… Sony PS4 500GB Black

Now click on revision history… Check last time price was revised… 24/5/16… 1 week before the sale.

Now, go back to the page and click on "sold items" and check the prices these have sold for both pre and post price revision… 26/4/15 = $478…

New price a week before code goes live gets changed too… $538

A $60 increase on a popular item a week before a 20% off code comes into play… Yeah, just coincidence.

Check out the good guys store… They may have humble pie warmers for 20% off. They don't seem to jack their prices as much as Kogan does.

Ps: anyone who buys a stand alone 500 GB PS4 for over $500 needs a reality check…

        • -2

          @pegaxs:

@Maverick-au: This is where you are wrong… He does jack up prices and here is the proof you so desperately want…

Really? I just responded to two examples which were utterly and totally wrong and now you claim that a price increase a WEEK before the sale is proof? LOL.

          Go to this item… Sony PS4 500GB Black(ebay.com.au)
Now click on revision history… Check last time price was revised… 24/5/16… 1 week before the sale.
Now, go back to the page and click on "sold items" and check the prices these have sold for both pre and post price revision… 26/4/15 = $478…
New price a week before code goes live gets changed too… $538
A $60 increase on a popular item a week before a 20% off code comes into play… Yeah, just coincidence.

Product first listed in February 2016.
          5 price changes 25/02/16, 26/02/16, 27/02/16, 24/03/16, 24/05/16
          4 sales from the 22-26/04/16

So this popular item is hardly selling fast and has had five changes in price in the last four months.

The price on their website is also the same at $529 + postage. Why increase it on their website as well? It's likely they are low on stock and have increased the price because they cannot purchase for the same price.

Why don't you find some real proof instead of this pointless example of a slow moving item.

        • +1

@Maverick-au: Wow, I can't believe that you are going to make me sit here and cut/paste every single item that he has jacked up the price of prior to this sale.

There are so many examples on the Kogan store of prices being "revised" anywhere from 7 to 10 days prior to this sale. I would say that this is about the amount of time that the sale info is starting to get out and all the stores are preparing for the latest eBay sale. So, changing the sale price of an item a week out before the sale it the same as changing it the day before.

A PS4 that is over priced on his store is not going to sell well. The fact remains that sales "before" the "revision" were cheaper, prices "after" the revision and within a week of the sale on items that Kogan knew would sell well at 20% off were raised as shown by sales after the sale started or by the listing price.

You wanted proof and I gave it to you. Go to the store and start clicking on IPads, MacBooks, hell, just about any mainstream popular item they are selling and you will find that a vast majority of them had a "revision" within a short time frame just before the sale. Then look at previous sale prices and you will see that the trend is to increase the price of these items in that week leading up to the sale.

You can sit there and huff and puff all you like, but the fact is there to read. I picked one random item and the first item I picked, all be it not "your" ideal example, was an example of what goes on.

Now, go back to the Kogan eBay store, pick any other popular item that would sell well at 20% off, try Apple items, and do the same thing I said above. Come back to Ozbargain, click on "I am associated with Kogan", cause you so obviously are, sit back, relax and enjoy that humble pie…

Ps: I don't care about the price on their site. It has no correlation to what I am talking about here.

Pps: Not all items in the Kogan eBay store were raised. It just appears that the most popular items that sell well in sales were. I did actually find some garbage items that were lowered in price a week prior to the sale…

      He has been caught before..

      • -1

        He has been caught before..

So why do you think he would try it again given the penalties this time round will be a lot bigger?

        • I'm saying he probably won't try it again, knowing the previous trouble he was in.

    • +1

That means you get 20% off the shipping too.

  • -3

I wonder if you actually get a genuine Nexus phone

    • +2

? Of course you get a genuine nexus phone. What is in doubt is whether it is a grey import (very likely) vs local stock (unlikely).

    • Yes you do. Just one that was not meant to be sold in Australia. Hence the potential issues with warranty, frequencies, etc…

  • +2

How is this phone compared to Motorola G 3rd gen?

    • +1

better screen better camera, faster, but not water resistant.

  • According to this site

    http://www.phonemore.com/lg-nexus-5x/models/509

the HK variant H798 only offers 32GB. If this 16GB version is international, then it may well be H791 model.

  • No way…I've got too many phones from Ozbargain, what can I use them for.

    • +8

      Setup an OzBargain addiction line?

  • Just bought one, cheers!

  • +16

Cant afford to spend $300 on a phone I don't need. Bought.

    • +1

      Hmmmm….
      So you were either;
      A. In need of a phone, or
      B. A true OzBargain'er!

      • I don't think the Mrs would think either of those :)

        • I hear ya!

  • +1

I'm looking for the mint version at a similar price. Anyone know where?

    • Yes! looking for a Mint 32GB version (if that even exists)

  • I have been tossing up moving from windows phone to get a Xiamomi Redmi 3 Pro or something similar, with the latest deal for the 3GB one being ~$213. Now this LG has caught my eye, as I have been very happy with my LG laptop I bought from computer alliance earlier in the year. Is this LG worth the extra over the Xiaomi? Is Kogan's warranty any better than Geekbuying or similar? Any reccomendations of any other phone in the price range that could be an alternative would be appreciated too.

Still waiting to beat the price for eGlobal RedMi Note 3 Pro - $273 delivered or any similar

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243438

        • +1

they are different. same phone different specs

the $273 is for 32GB/3GB RAM
          $208 is for 16GB/2GB RAM.

        • @imtahir7: Oh I see, my bad!

        • @johndoe1:

$208 seems a good price thou for redmi note 3 pro 2gb/16GB

Had a friend who bought while on holiday in china a couple of weeks ago and it cost about $200

  • Mmmm do I put up with my working phone with grey screen due to tuna oil seeping in behind the screen or get a new shiny Nexus. I was once in love with my phone, now I can barely look at it's face :(

    • How does your phone feel about your face? (ie. Does the front camera still work.)

  • +3

    I was thinking I don't remember posting this deal…

  • +2

Guys they are selling the H798 Model.

    https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/XlxrSA/lg-h798-…

Check your carrier against the model.

    • Possibly a mix of models, as the one I received is the H791 model.

  • If I were you I'd get a new phone while you can. It seems like all G4's are dying eventually. Mine just died and I'm stuck without a phone.

    • yeah, i got myself a new Nexus 5X Ice Green last week from QD because of the bootloop on my G4.

      • Sweet.
It'd be nice if I could just get a refund from QD but I realize that's not how warranty works. Oh well.

  • -2

if only it had a sd card slot

  • How does this phone compare to the LG G3?

  • Ended up ordering the 32GB model, too good of a deal to pass up. However I saw the ETA was ~3 weeks, do Kogan usually take this long? Or do most orders arrive sooner?

  • Does this mean you can't use 4G on Telstra with 700mhz band 28?

  • +1

I bought one of these from Kogan via eBay on 22/05 but they were out of stock. Still waiting for my refund…

  • -4

I originally wanted a 4G compatible Android on Telstra. I guess without 700MHz band 28 this is next to useless for me. Skipping this and stay away from Kogan

  • Bought one, but i really doubt that I will get it. Kogan is extremely dodgy and too many bad reviews.

    • Don't know why they would this time around - they inflated the price to $380 before eBay's 20% off, so they probably want their $380 (for a phone that they advertise for $359 on their website). We shall see…

      • -3

This has been done to death before and has been covered in this thread already, free shipping on ebay and the shipping is charged for on Kogans website. Yet another bogus claim that Kogan increased their prices before the sale which has been proven to be unsubstantiated.

        What is $359 + $23 delivery? $382.

What is this product on ebay? $382 including free delivery.

So the prices on both are identical except one is 20% off, I'll let you figure which one.

        • Hi Ruslan.

        • -3

          @aja12:

          Hi Ruslan

Great comeback for accusing a company of illegal behaviour when the only crime committed was your failure to read or add up.

        • I don't feel the need to "comeback", Ruslan.

  • Is it worth paying 60$ more for local stock?

    • +1

Where has it for $60 more?

      • +1

Officeworks.. Got them to price match dick Smith price for 32gb 419$ on the phone this morning ;-)
Need to cancel my order with kogan eBay now

        • Do you know if kogan are usually pretty good at cancelling orders? I might go the same route for a local version but I don't want to end up with two phones. It hasn't been marked as shipped or anything on eBay yet, and I would rather pay $60 extra than wait ages and have no real local warranty.

        • which store? The ones I called in SA refused to do it for $419.

        • Checked with every single Officeworks store and then called to their head office. They don't price match it as Dick Smith has grey import.

        • Got a picture of a receipt?

        • @juph0rry:
apologies was away for a couple of weeks.
i can send the receipt to anyone who would like one but unsure if they would honour it as the store person was surprised that they price matched dicksmith on the phone

  • Has anyone had theirs shipped yet?

    • Bought a Nexus 6P from them the same day. Mine was marked as shipped yesterday. I got a notification through eBay and an email from both eBay and Kogan.

    • +2

Mine just turned up at my house! It was never marked as shipped or anything. Also - it's the H791 model which is an unexpected bonus!

      • Woah! Hopefully I get mine today too then.

        • Hopefully mate. I ordered on the 1st, it was shipped on the 2nd and I'm in the northern suburbs of Brisbane.

        • +1

@aja12: That's awesome that it's H791, did you order the 16 or 32gb? Which colour? Was holding off getting one cause it didn't have the 4g bands but I want to jump on this if it does!

        • @Rigby:

          16gb black.

      • How did you know which model number it is? I've looked on the box or even in the settings and can't find which model is that?

  • +1

Just received the phone TODAY very fast delivery it's the h791, 2166 NSW

    • 16GB or 32GB? and did they deliver it to your door or just leave it in your letterbox? Also was your order marked as shipped on eBay?

      • +1

It was the 16g,they deliver to my door and I have to sign for it. On eBay it's still not marked as shipped yet also.

        • Nice! Still haven't got mine yet though!

    • How did you know which model number it is? I've looked on the box or even in the settings and can't find which model is that?

      • +1

The box should have a large sticker on the side of the sleeve. If not, go to settings > about phone > regulatory information. The FCC ID contains the model number, which is the last 4 characters.

        • Thank you very much

  • Had originally tried to cancel my order, but kogan told me it already been dispatched. That was yesterday. Tried to get a tracking number out of them today, was told it was processing and not dispatched yet, so I couldn't have a tracking number. Told them what I was told previously and was then told I would be updated via email.

Seems that kogan support's response will just be whatever means they don't have to do any more work.

Edit: they actually ended up sending me the tracking number through, and it left Hong Kong today (I ordered at 7:57PM on Wed 1st June if that helps anyone)

    • +3

They sent me a tracking number 2 days after I received the phone.

      • Was yours delivered the day after the status was updated to 'HK - Hong Kong. Linehaul by Overnight'? Mine changed to that status at midday today and I want to know whether I should get my hopes up for it being delivered tomorrow. thanks

        • Hey bro, I'm looking at my tracking info and can't see what you've described as an updated status. You got anything else?

        • @aja12: Only other thing I've got is 'HK - Hong Kong. Transfer Out to' on Tuesday. Thanks for looking

        • @Beejay: Sorry, it looks like real time tracking uses different terms.
