Morning guys, here is the result of a weekend of compilation :) I've gone through Futu/PCB/Wireless1/KG's computing section.

I've checked the prices of identical items across all listings and all stores (even the three PC Byte stores!) to try my best to make sure that the item linked is the cheapest available. If you find an identical item cheaper at another store/listing, please let me know in the comments.

If any of the items are reposted as single deals, I will also add an additional link to the deal so you can see the relevant discussions.

  • PC Byte increased the price of their 2TB EVO, since this morning. :/

  • +3

You need to get out more, but cheers!

  • What's a better buy? Sandisk Ultra 128 or Samsung Evo 128?

    Thanks

    • +3

I didn't add the Samsung EVO 128GB to this post because the cheapest listing of it is $59.96 after discount, which is $1.65 more expensive than the Sandisk Ultra. So definitely the ultra as it is cheaper and has 80Mb/s read compared to 40Mb/s read of the EVO.

  • The i7 4790 is a i7 4790K which is supreme can you fix this
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Intel-Core-i7-4790-Haswell-Deskto…

    • +3

The title says i7 4790 though, even though it's a i7 4790k in the description. I'll contact PC Byte for confirmation - would be an awesome deal if it was the i7 4790k.

      Edit: it's a 4790

  • Can't really see any "wow" deals, all of these items have been available before at lower prices. Looks like vendors jacked up prices before the deal happened.

    • +3

Computing stores definitely haven't jacked up much, I haven't ever seen posted lower local prices on the 850 Pro/Evo, SSD Plus 240GB, ultra 80Mb/s MicroSDs, and nearly all the USBs.

  • Should I get the Toshiba 3TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal HDD Hard Drive DT01ACA300 for $115.96 or get the Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD $119.2 from the deal above? or WD Blue 3TB $127.2 from futu?

    • +2

Caution on the Seagate ST3000DM001. Most unreliable drive based on BackBlaze's 40%+ failure rate. Personally I've had 100% failure rate on the three I had. Two replaced under warranty, 3rd died just outside of 3 years.

    • +1

Get Toshiba. Had 8 of them. 1 failure after 3 years. I'd had worse track record with WD

    • Thanks for the information, I will get Toshiba.

  • +1

    Excellent work +1

  • +1

Did they increase the price of Sandisk Extreme U3 64GB MicroSD?

Because with 20% off it comes down to $39.99, any ideas?

    • Appears so :(

      • +1

32GB as well, it's now $22.36 after discount.

    • Looks like they brought the price back down.

  • +1

    top effort

when those 1TB SSDs hit $150 then i'll start using them in my NAS.

    • +22

Thanks for letting us know, I was only just wondering at what price point you would buy one for your NAS.

      • +17

no thank you for serving me well during my travel overseas for ATM withdrawals and purchases up until you decided to add a fee for cash withdrawals.

  • Sandisk Ultra MicroSD 80Mb/s 64GB price increased as well.

  • +2

I think PC Byte jacked up their prices. 850 PRO 256GB and 512GB are more than OP posted. They might have raised their other prices too, didnt check.

    Futu is cheaper now.

  • Samsung EVO

  • +1

Son of a… They jacked up the price of the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD…

  • whats the difference between this card and this card ? Its very confusing because both titles says 80MB/s but further down in description it says 48 MB/s

    • Apart from 10 cents, nothing at all. PC byte has multiple listings of the same items (as some are promotional prices for previous deals), so it's always a good idea to search for the cheaper listing :)

EDIT: Sorry didn't read your post properly. It's probably the best idea to pm a pc byte rep about the model/speed of the card. Usually the speed claimed in the title is correct, but it's always a good idea to make sure.

    • +1

      Hi andwae,

I can confirm it is the same item which is SanDisk 64GB 80MB/s microSD card. The descriptions are linked to SanDisk site and they still have the old description for the 48MB/s. Can't change it unfortunately :(

      Cheers,

      • Why did you guys increase the prices right after a deal is posted to OzBargain?

I was going to purchase several Sandisk Extreme U3 64GB MicroSD for $36.76 each now it is $39.99 each.

The difference is tiny but still I will not buy it (does not matter cheapest in the market or not) just for the fact that what has been done is dodgy and not ethical.

        • +1

Looks like they brought the price back down.

    • Thanks to both of you for your quick and informative replies. I went ahead and bought the cheaper one :)

  • +4

Thanks for the effort Lyl. But seriously whats the point of all these sales if the vendors keep jacking up prices all the time?

Poor business practice. I don't see why we should keep giving these guys free advertising by posting links to their stores here all the time.

I'll stick with amazon and MSY.

    • +1

sometimes these deals are still cheaper than MSY, even after jacking up the price.

  • Very handy, thanks

  • Fidelio X2 and Sennheiser Momentum over ear 2.0 - which one is better sound wise?

    • +2

after doing heaps of research…they're both very good headphones. Fidelio x2 seem like the epitome of comfort, and I would go for them if I had the money.

      • I tried the Momentum 2.0 in store today…very impressed with the sound quality…I think I will buy the Momentum.

        • +2

good choice. hard to recommend the fidelio x2 when it seems to be impossible to try out in oz

  • +3

Excellent work OP. But I think you forgot to include this deal :

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/IBM-73-4GB-10Krpm-SCSI-Hard-Disc-…

    Only $159 + postage!!!

    8-))))

    • Even comes with a generous 30 day warranty!

  • The new broadwellE 6850k works out at a decent saving. About $90 cheaper then most online places.

  • Anyone know if Samsung EVO (U1) cards will be fine recording 4k video on panasonic lx100?

    • You'll need a U3 card to record 4K video.

  • +2

any good USB Type C deals?

      • Mine just learnt how to switch on/off the lights. great when I want to go to bed :) Still have a few more years to go, for more advanced tricks.

  • Does anyone know of its possible to user this in conjunction with the recent Groupon $100 eBay voucher please?

    • No it's not possible to use this in conjunction with other vouchers.

  • Great list!

  • Great list!
Is the 240GB Sandisk SSD Plus worth the extra $6 over the crucial BX200?

    • +2

The Sandisk is a MLC drive so it should be more reliable, while BX200 has a lot of reliability issues, so I'd definitely pay the extra $6. The BX200 is out of stock now anyways, so the decision should be easy :)

      • Uh oh looks like I snoozed and I lost.
More than 10 available, but unable to click and buy…. :(

  • +1

Crucial BX200 240GB SSD out of stock according to the original deal post.

  • no NUC deal??

    • Haven't seen many NUC deals of late

  • GTX 1080 Founder Edition 8GB - Gainward $1023.2

That's pretty close to getting it from Amazon with the advantage of Australian warranty and without the 2-4 weeks wait.

I've already ordered mine 2 weeks ago on Amazon though.

  • Just bit the bullet on a 500GB 850 evo. With only ~230 GB left across my current 2 drives, that seems like a good enough excuse to demote my 120GB 840 evo from boot duties.

  • The 32GB USB3 OTG is sold out but I went ahead and bought the 16GB version which is still available for $9.52.

  • Damn out of stock of the drive I wanted.

  • +1

FYI, the Sandisk 240GB is out of stock, but Futu has it cheaper anyway (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253206)

  • +1

Also, Kingston 120GB SSD at $47.16, which's slightly cheaper than the Sandisk (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/252736) listed in the OP.

    • +1

      Cheers, added both :)

  • Shame there are no i7 6900k with this deal :(
