This bundle is just as good as the EB games bundle in terms of resell value of the games you can get which would be ROTR and Doom as they sell for more than the others.
I believe the only resell option would be Doom or Fallout, as the ROTR/Forza/GoW/RR choice is a full game download code/token. So yes, great bundle comparable to EB if you can resell Doom.

One console should be enough. With sport games it really doesn't matter, any console will do just fine.

@jnbluv2h: Well EA is a publisher responsible for many games such as FIFA and Madden, the one's you mentioned. EA Access is a subscription that allows you to play many of EA games, they have all of their older sport games such as the older FIFA 16 and Madden 16 and they add all of their new games usually 6 months after release. I'm not sure what the cost of the subscription is but other people can tell you. Also It doesn't include PES just fyi.
for FIFA, he should get Xbox just to play with Legends which are exclusive to Xbox only. Other than that, Xbox games with golds are better as well. I am on PS4 but I would recommend Xbox One just for legends and better subscription games.
Yes, buy the same console as his friends so they can play online together. Beware you also need to pay a subscription fee to play most games in multiplayer.
FIFA is multi platform, there's some small performance differences between Xbox and PS4 but it's more important to have the same system as friends so you can play together
Thanks! I think most of his friends have PS3??? Not sure but will PS3 and PS4 work online together? He would not be spending a lot of time on gaming as he is father of two little kids, but he definitely deserves some entertainment on weekends :-)
PS3 and PS4 do not work online together. PS3 doesn't require a subscription for online gaming while the PS4 and Xbox One does. There isn't really a point in getting a PS3 anymore anyway because you can find Xbox One's for under $250 now. Also the One is a very good entertainment system as it has some very good entertainment apps like netflix and others.

@jnbluv2h: The xbox definitley sells for a bit less than the PS4, but you can find a PS4 for $300 somewhere.
I'd go for the PS especially as you say his friends have PS.
Weighing the two up excluding that, the PS4 is a slightly more powerful console, both online services are priced similarly and both are very reliable so not much difference there. Biggest factor is really what his friends have and what games he enjoys outside of FIFA as both have different types of exclusive though for me personally I prefer the PS exclusives (Uncharted, DriveClub, Rachet and Clank) etc.
Slightly is a bit of an understatement. The PS4 is at least five times more powerful than the PS3, which is running on 10 year old hardware.

My two cents, get him the exact same console his mates have. If they all have a PS4 then get that, then he can play online with them. Yes I agree XBOX has the better online environment but no use him having that if all his mates have a PS4 or vis versa :)

Would this be the old Xbox One model? I think paying a little bit more for the Xbox One S (UHD Drive, 4K & HDR) sounds like the better choice for future proofing.
Yes old model but the S is not powerful enough to play at native 4K
I believe this is the 2nd Generation Xbox One model as the controller comes with a 3.5mm jack. As Kenzo said, the S isn't native 4K gaming and just upscales which 4k tv's do anyway. Yes they do have HDR and 4k Blu ray player, but in terms of anything else it isn't really future proofing. If you are looking for a 4k blu ray player, then buy an S as it is the cheapest 4k player on the market.

Well people are predicting it will be selling for the same price as the Xbox One did at launch which was $600. I'd say wait it out a bit if you're looking for a 4k system, otherwise you can just get a cheap normal Xbox and trade that in for a Scorpio at launch if you want.

Can Xbox 360 games be played on Xbox One? I know in the beginning it was not the case, but then heard that MS upgraded Xbox One to be backward compatible, that's why checking.

In other words…. bro this V8 totally gets 0.2 Litres per 100km … as long as you only look at the 14% of the time you're going downhill.
Still more backwards compatibility than the PS4 has.
The 360 and One have completely different CPU architectures, the fact that any games run under the emulation is impressive.

Got any proof of emulation? Even MS-released info doesn't talk about it and is more akin to "we modified the code via some unique secret process to run natively". Because I can guarantee Xbone isn't emulating 360.

Percentage of total games isn't the interesting figure. I would want to know the percentage of top rated and top selling games. Several hundred crap games not being available isn't an issue for me.
So assuming we'll take DVD releases only (since if it's really good, it's going physical at some point), and say 30% of them were pretty damn good (I dunno, 30% seems legit?), that leaves 351 DVD releases. Taking the 279 360 backwards compat games and filtering by DVD releases gets you 77. Completely ignoring the fact that we're not filtering those backwards compat games by 30% to get 'good games' ….
That gives us 21.9%. 3 years into the gen and 22% of the 'good portion of x360 catalogue' is backwards compat. Mathematically, of course. The real number is probably back at 10%. Bit hard to twist it to a favourable conclusion if it's SO FAR from 50%.
