    wow, another amazing price !

  •

This bundle is just as good as the EB games bundle in terms of resell value of the games you can get which would be ROTR and Doom as they sell for more than the others.

    • +1 vote

I believe the only resell option would be Doom or Fallout, as the ROTR/Forza/GoW/RR choice is a full game download code/token. So yes, great bundle comparable to EB if you can resell Doom.

  •

this looks like an ad in a newspaper, herald sun?

  • +1 vote

Yep, just their catalogue in my letterbox this morning

    • +3 votes

Thanks, in case we can price match and maybe take advantage of the Harvey norman amex offer.

      •

Yeah, was wondering if that would work out because I'm not sure if it works with price matching.

        •

The way you pay shouldn't matter for the price matching. But whether they have the same bundle available is another matter, I think. If anyone is successful in getting this bundle price matched at Harvey Norman, please let us know!

        •

@jakentta: lol standard reply from hardly normal … not the exact same product code … so can't price match.

      •

I had zero luck finding the original Xbox in stock at HN so just something to consider!

  •

How much is the Uncharted 4 $_9?

  • +1 vote

Wow, great price for the 1 TB model.

  •

awesome price. Can you post the full page? Just want to know how much Dishonered 2 will be!

  •

hmm now not sure if i should return the xbox one i picked up from target for $229…only really bought it on impulse anyway (to play forza horizon 2/3, halo 5 and sunset overdrive)

  • +2 votes

Never had game consoles before and now considering buying one for hubby as Christmas present… hubby always goes to friends' place to play soccer/basketball games on ps or PC…. could anyone give me some advice which console I should go for, XBOX one or PS4(just assume the prices are similar, as I want to use Amex 300-100 offer at Harvey Norman for PS4) thanks guys!

    • +2 votes

Well you said your hubby plays on a ps with his friends, so I guess he can go for that if he wants to play with them from home.

      •

I'm not sure whether he plays Xbox with his friends as well… but thanks for the advice I will try to find that out. I just want to know generally which concole is better with sports game like FIFA?

        •

One console should be enough. With sport games it really doesn't matter, any console will do just fine.

        •

          @OzBMate629:
Thanks a lot!!! Don't know if Harvey Norman will price-match this deal though… they are selling the same concole plus one game for $499… if they could match it and I use Amex to pay, for $200 this Xbox one is a bargain

        • +1 vote

Definitely the xbox. You can buy the ea yearly access which allows you to play most their games including Fifa, NBA,…

        •

          @dosada:
I'm sorry but what's EA? Does that include PES, winning eleven?

        • +1 vote

@jnbluv2h: Well EA is a publisher responsible for many games such as FIFA and Madden, the one's you mentioned. EA Access is a subscription that allows you to play many of EA games, they have all of their older sport games such as the older FIFA 16 and Madden 16 and they add all of their new games usually 6 months after release. I'm not sure what the cost of the subscription is but other people can tell you. Also It doesn't include PES just fyi.

        •

@jnbluv2h: PES is by Konami so it's not EA. Comes on both PS4 and Xbox

        •

for FIFA, he should get Xbox just to play with Legends which are exclusive to Xbox only. Other than that, Xbox games with golds are better as well. I am on PS4 but I would recommend Xbox One just for legends and better subscription games.

    • +3 votes

Yes, buy the same console as his friends so they can play online together. Beware you also need to pay a subscription fee to play most games in multiplayer.

FIFA is multi platform, there's some small performance differences between Xbox and PS4 but it's more important to have the same system as friends so you can play together

      •

Thanks! I think most of his friends have PS3??? Not sure but will PS3 and PS4 work online together? He would not be spending a lot of time on gaming as he is father of two little kids, but he definitely deserves some entertainment on weekends :-)

        •

PS3 and PS4 do not work online together. PS3 doesn't require a subscription for online gaming while the PS4 and Xbox One does. There isn't really a point in getting a PS3 anymore anyway because you can find Xbox One's for under $250 now. Also the One is a very good entertainment system as it has some very good entertainment apps like netflix and others.

        •

          @OzBMate629:
Thanks a lot. I wasn't thinking about getting a older model of these concoles at all, but his friends do not always have the latest ones… I assume he would have to ask friends to come over and play with him :-) I assume if Harvey Norman was happy to price-match this deal, I would go for the Xbox one then… I just missed previous PS4 deals. Or do u recon there will be PS4 deals coming as well?

        • +2 votes

@jnbluv2h: The xbox definitley sells for a bit less than the PS4, but you can find a PS4 for $300 somewhere.

        • +1 vote

@OzBMate629: thanks very much for all of your kind replies.:-)

        •

@jnbluv2h: All good. Hope you made your mind up :)

    •

I'd go for the PS especially as you say his friends have PS.

Weighing the two up excluding that, the PS4 is a slightly more powerful console, both online services are priced similarly and both are very reliable so not much difference there. Biggest factor is really what his friends have and what games he enjoys outside of FIFA as both have different types of exclusive though for me personally I prefer the PS exclusives (Uncharted, DriveClub, Rachet and Clank) etc.

    •

My two cents, get him the exact same console his mates have. If they all have a PS4 then get that, then he can play online with them. Yes I agree XBOX has the better online environment but no use him having that if all his mates have a PS4 or vis versa :)

    •

Go for the PS4 if your husband has small hands or if you have kids.

      •

Thanks guys I think I have decided to go with PS4, although myself personally prefer Xbox one cos I like the controller better. Lots of friends suggest me to get both consoles 😂 Shame I only have one Amex card

  •

Would this be the old Xbox One model? I think paying a little bit more for the Xbox One S (UHD Drive, 4K & HDR) sounds like the better choice for future proofing.

    •

Yes old model but the S is not powerful enough to play at native 4K

    •

I believe this is the 2nd Generation Xbox One model as the controller comes with a 3.5mm jack. As Kenzo said, the S isn't native 4K gaming and just upscales which 4k tv's do anyway. Yes they do have HDR and 4k Blu ray player, but in terms of anything else it isn't really future proofing. If you are looking for a 4k blu ray player, then buy an S as it is the cheapest 4k player on the market.

      •

So should we wait for next year. Xbox One Scorpio ? how much you reckon it would be listed in pricing ?

        •

Well people are predicting it will be selling for the same price as the Xbox One did at launch which was $600. I'd say wait it out a bit if you're looking for a 4k system, otherwise you can just get a cheap normal Xbox and trade that in for a Scorpio at launch if you want.

      •

These come with a 3.5mm jack too.

  • +4 votes

For those wondering, the lowest price for Doom and Fallout 4 are $27 each at Target. If reselling, $20 each should be an easy sell.

  •

Not interested at all in getting a ONE, but even I think that's a ridiculous price!

    • +2 votes

I wasn't either but couldn't resist a few months back at the same price (plus $50 eBay voucher) and now say I absolutely LOVE my Xbox.

      I was a Sony man - now I guess I'm bi-consolual ;)

  •

BTW where do you find this offer and when does it valid to? I just browsed their online catalogue and could not find this deal… thanks!

    • +1 vote

      Catalogue offer, valid 10-16/11

      •

Is this catalogue available in store for grab now? Thx so much

        •

Unsure if in store, haven't gone into one, from past experience they generally don't hand them out until very close to sale date

      •

Thanks Kenzo1, I was "this" close to just jumping in the car and making an hour round trip after work to collect this… Ima just gonna wait a few days now :D

    •

Big W do not like people uploading the whole (scanned) catalogue here and they have issued notices to take them down in the past - hence the snippets of the unreleased catalogue.

Some have received catalogues early from catalogue-walkers who stick rolls of them in mailboxes.

  •

EB has the same deal for 1 dollar less

    • +2 votes

Different games with less value as they can be bought both together on CDkeys for $30

    • +1 vote

But it has two different games, which may or may not suit one's taste.

Also, 5%-off Wish giftcards from CashRewards can be had, meaning the console will be $284.05.

  •

So this is how Microsoft beats Sony lol

  • +3 votes

OP. If this deal isn't even starting until 10th November, don't you think it's a good idea to state so in the deal thread title and perhaps the description?. Just so people don't think they can get it right now and so rush straight into their Big W store only to be disappointed. You made absolutely no mention of that in the title or description. They might miss that little calendar thing which is quite easy to miss at first when you get all excited and in a hurry, being focused in on the thread title and description.

    • +1 vote

The start date is clearly there. Anyone who frequents OzBargain will know where to look. Descriptions shouldn't contain duplicate information imo.

If you have an issue with the site's design, feedback can be given here (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/forum/5), it has nothing to do with this deal or the OP.

Just so people don't think they can get it right now and so rush straight into their Big W store only to be disappointed.

Sounds like you're one of those people because you didn't read the deal properly.

Added it in now, guess a bit more clarification never hurts

  •

Can Xbox 360 games be played on Xbox One? I know in the beginning it was not the case, but then heard that MS upgraded Xbox One to be backward compatible, that's why checking.

    • -2 votes

      For clarity:

According to this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_games - which is a list of physical DVD releases on 360, 6.14% of 360 DVD releases are playable on Xbone.

According to this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_games_compati... - and this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_Live_Arcade_games - there is a grand total of 719 + 1173 = 1892 games on X360 system, we get a grand current total of 14.64% of 360 games having backwards compatibility.

In other words…. bro this V8 totally gets 0.2 Litres per 100km … as long as you only look at the 14% of the time you're going downhill.

      •

Still more backwards compatibility than the PS4 has.

The 360 and One have completely different CPU architectures, the fact that any games run under the emulation is impressive.

        •

          PS4 has PS Now?

Got any proof of emulation? Even MS-released info doesn't talk about it and is more akin to "we modified the code via some unique secret process to run natively". Because I can guarantee Xbone isn't emulating 360.

Is that you with the downvote, on a completely accurate, factual, opinion-free comment?

      •

Percentage of total games isn't the interesting figure. I would want to know the percentage of top rated and top selling games. Several hundred crap games not being available isn't an issue for me.

        •

So assuming we'll take DVD releases only (since if it's really good, it's going physical at some point), and say 30% of them were pretty damn good (I dunno, 30% seems legit?), that leaves 351 DVD releases. Taking the 279 360 backwards compat games and filtering by DVD releases gets you 77. Completely ignoring the fact that we're not filtering those backwards compat games by 30% to get 'good games' ….

That gives us 21.9%. 3 years into the gen and 22% of the 'good portion of x360 catalogue' is backwards compat. Mathematically, of course. The real number is probably back at 10%. Bit hard to twist it to a favourable conclusion if it's SO FAR from 50%.

  •

    WOW dat price!

  •

amazing to think i had almost buy the 500GB for the same price

  •

Can stack with other offers for 6% off Big W eVouchers for another $18 off the price!

  •

Get this now for the kids Christmas present or hold off?

  •

Jeez.. I don't need it.. but these recent xbone deals are making it hard. To not impulse buy.

  •

does this have the original or the first revision controller?

    • +1 vote

Revised one with the 3.5mm jack, but obviously not the same as the latest ones that come with the S.

These also come with a microphone/headset. The 500G models don't.
