This thread serves to let everyone know how much you have saved on your 7/11 fuel app.

Step 1: Subscribe to this thread to get email updates. You can change your subscription settings in your Ozbargain account to enable more/less email updates.

Step 2: Upon filling up simply fill in the details in this format:

  • NAME OF 7/11 STORE
  • PETROL TYPE
  • PETROL PRICE

Example:

  • Richlands QLD

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

    LPG is always cheapest in VIC, when I always get asked "where I got that price" I normally just responded with "down in Victoria" might have to come up with another response with the lockdown 😆

          Just use an older Android phone to root, not worth losing warranty on your S10 (guessing).

            @billy_bob: This is what I did. Had an old S7 lying around that was sitting around as my backup emergency handset. Happy to trip knox and void the already lapsed warranty on it.

    anyone know why i cant log in with my iphone but can log on with android? try to reset password i get Uh oh! message. when i log in with my iphone getting the Uh oh! message. been tryin for weeks now :(

      Try setting your time zone to automatic, if you have it set to manual it brings up that error. It should log in then. You can set it back to manual once you've logged in

      I see that if I lock for others, after they use a price lock, it doesn't seem to refresh properly which ends up with that..

      Mine is/was doing the same thing on main phone but I logged into a second device and it showed the correct lock.

      log out and back in again and it's showing correctly now on the main phone too.

    Well a friend of mine got the chopper and running. Honestly the hardest part is unlocking bootloader, finding a ROM and installing it correctly. It can take a few hours. I had to reset to factory after a failed ROM install which was not ideal.

    Many hours later I feel more adept in Android than I ever wanted to be.
    He used the info in the reddit thread.

    Google Nexus 6p for anyone who cares.

      Google Nexus 6P should be easy, just unlock bootloader, download LinageOS, flash twrp recovery with fastboot then install LinageOS from recovery.

    anyone know if knew safety net from googs is gna break everything?

      Same style of rooting and spoofing and I have the same error message. Hope temporary and not on to us!

      Their opex costs for app delivery/management would have gone through the roof now. Seem to be staying on top of it. lol

      I had the A02 error originally, I could not login, even before adding mock gps magisk or anything. Just 7-11 app and vanilla Lineage 16 (Android 9) with Gapps.
      I went back and re-flashed the same ROM, no difference.

      So then went for Lineage 17 (Android 10).
      I flashed the new ROM, installed GApps but went for nano this time (you only really need Play services).
      7-11 app was fine at that stage.

      I don't know if it was the OS or the GApps or what but that combination worked so I just accepted that and moved on.
      Then added
      Magisk
      smali patch
      App Ninja GPS with the rename and privacy mode.

      So now i have my helicopter running again, Galaxy S5 running Lineage 17 (android 10) it passes SafetyNet with Magisk.
      Before this I ran the stock Samsung OS with Android 8.

        Got an s5 with lineage now installed.

        Did you have to root lineage after installing? because when I installed magisk it says 'no root'

          There are 2 parts for magisk, You need to install both the .apk and the .zip (.zip is via twrp)

            @CodeXD: i have installed the .apk via play store. So do you mean install a .zip magisk by…
            -downloading through search on google
            -transfering the magisk .zip file onto my phones storage internal/sd card
            -then booting phone into recovery and installing the magisk .zip file that way? (like I did when installing lineage operating system and gapps)

            or do you mean installing twrp .apk and flashing the magisk .zip that way?

              @splats: There's no magisk on play store… if there is it is a fake. Google blocked the app as it circumvents safety net

                Finally got gps joystick working the app after a LOT of mucking around. A very long process to get the phone rooted with lineage and other stuff.

                The appninja app is pretty fiddly and makes me appreciate the skill freighter and master used to create the last app and make it so user freindly!

                Big thanks to them and everyone else in thread including Kossac for their detailed setup process which I used for my old samsung s5!!!

        I installed it during the process.

    Just to ensure everyone not asking further questions about APK or using any Android simulator (eg. NOX)

        It’s been updated. The only thing missing is that when using a jailbreak you also need a location faker like Relocate.

    I still use an S7 so haven't been able to update to the latest app, but just noticed I can now get into the old (modded) 7-11 app without being auto-prompted to update. I can access my card/barcode once in the app.

    Any chance this can be used in tandem with another method (PC/another phone maybe) to lock in and then scan the card in the old app to access the discount in store?

          Just checked that 7-11 has shut down the original api
          thats why it is not prompting you to update

          However, you will no longer be able to login, search fuel price or do a fuel lock anymore

            @littlesoldier: Yeah I can't search or do a fuel lock, but I am still logged in and can display my 7-11 card (hence the question above).

      The new app gives a different barcode to the old one.

      You could take a screenshot of the barcode in the new app and show it on your s7.

      There are a few of us here in this thread using S7 with a custom rom and the new my 7 eleven app. If you View All comments and do a search for S7, plenty of guides available.

    I just received a letter with a gift card from 7-Eleven, and the letter states Card Balance $0

    What a waste of costs and resources sending emails to people with no balance left and then processing a $0 card and sending via post

      Odd. My one had 6 cents left and they sent me a gift card for $2.06. Does the back of your $0 gift card have a value printed on the back for $0 as well (to match the letter?)

    Are others having issues claiming discounts? It seems there are quite a few problems with the new app/system, a number of times I have gone to show the barcode and the assistant say's I don't think it is working, but they still try, and alas, no joy. It's easy enough to claim back through the app but the gift card setup is a bit of a pita compared to the old account credit, I think I have about 4 gift cards here already with about another 3+ in the mail, I am half considering sending in the details of one of my existing cards next time to see if they can just credit it as opposed to sending out a new one.

    I thought this was the end but I scrolled up to this post and saw there was a working method for iOS. I was so tempted to do it and you guessed it, I did. Followed instructions (was so easy) and managed to do my first lock post new app update. No jailbreak required. Many thanks to OzB and the developers :))

        only to reset your real location. I use my ipad to lock, so dont need to restart as it is not my primary device for location usage.

        No when I press "stop location" it resets to the current location. But a restart is recommended it doesn't take that long.

    For those that still have balance in the old 7-Eleven app and didn't receive the gift card yet
    I found that now you can get the Giftcard barcode directly from the 7-Eleven website

    1. Login to https://wwws-au1.givex.com/cws4.0/m7eleven/my-account/manage…

    2. Click on "Add to Wallet"

    3. Select "Google Pay"

    4. Login to your Google Account

    5. Click on "View Giftcard"

    6. Now You can get the barcode of the giftcard to be scan in 7-Eleven Store

      Alas, can't even log into my account. Went to try a password reset, I got the email yet it says "Unfortunately, you can't use that email. Please try again with a different e-mail."

      Gave 7/11 a ring, they couldn't find the account either but the lady was nice enough to escalate it. I'm not holding my breath. Would have been great if the link worked for me OP.

      Btw I've definitely saved more than $80 over the last year or 2 do not salty at all.

      What did you say to the attendant when you paid with the digital giftcard? I've been to three 7-Eleven stores in my area and none of them knew what to do with the barcode.

    Just a feature suggestion for projectzerothree - could we perhaps add a column for latitude/longitude (just look it up from the postcode?)

      The old 7-11 app had a json file with every 7-11 store in Australia and their gps coordinates as well as things like if they are wheelchair accessible. I assume he could just parse that file to display the co-ords.

    I have got the app working and could lock in last week but when I tried yesterday and today I am getting a "Uh Oh! That didn't work quite as planned, there seems to be a problem. Error E01."

    I am running Lineage 16 with latest Magisk/Magisk Manager, Smali patcher and GPS Joystick (renamed and in privacy mode).
    I have checked and Magisk hide is running on My 7-Eleven.
    Phone is a Galaxy Note 2.

    Anyone else have this issue?

      i had the same error E01 and had to email to 7-11 CS to resolve, took them about a week. I only had mocklation but was not turn on when i tried to check price, about 2~3 weeks ago now.

          7-11 I would think. If you see the app it is not even checking the price in Ipswich. It’s just checks the other stations around it not the one in actual Ipswich. It’s the same for all other fuel type except regular unleaded. Where it checks the prices of Ipswich. That’s what I observe anyway.

    Anyone else simply stopped using 7/11 fuel since they made it hard to lock in bargains? Since woolies fuel down the road is always a few cents cheaper now - all the cars in our household have stopped using 7-Eleven fuels.

      Yep, Woolies 4c voucher + pay with 6% off Woolies eGift card makes it minimum 10cpl discount on fuel

      Vic fuel prices has been more expensive than other states (can be up to 20c more/L), this makes sense of locking fuel prices from another state fuel price to save a few bucks

      Also, looking back from all the 7-11 fuel deals most are related to U98 that were sold at U91 price because particular fuel station has ran out of U91, and they were selling U98 at U91 price

      yeah I went from using 7/11 fuel for 100% previously to like 5% now whenever there is the rare descent price lock in my area. Without it theres a Woolworths fuel servo nearby which is cheaper as others have stated

        I was sad too, until I realised that I last bought petrol over 2 months ago so the lost saving is absolutely inconsequential!
