  • good timing… was looking to replace one of the expiring plans

  • How many times can you make separate orders?

  • Just making sure, so this is $1 for first month and then if I don't recharge nothing happens?
I'm also assuming it would be possible to get multiple and then switch over (what's the catch)?

    • +2

      …unless you tick auto recharge

      • Thanks for the tip, this is when you're activating right?

        • +1

          option when activating yes.

  • Just ordered a Lebara SIM card this morning to check around my area. Does Kogan have exactly the same coverage? Use all Voda network?

    • This is a great deal for you. Start with kogan for 1 month then port to lebara and then port again to kogan!
EDIT: just make sure you have 2 different debt/credit card with your exact name, as they require CC for there activation and they seem to save those details for future activation(they think it will stop ozbargainer from abusing them).

      • Does that mean you can only activate 2 times with your 2 different debit/credit cards? What will happen on your 3rd activation?

        • Yes. To activate again you need to have another CC with your same name, this is only applicable for activating on promo code not for paying full price(Hint: New customer only).

        • @Bnjam3:
Sorry, just to be clear. I have bought one voucher/sim with credit card 1. I will activate with credit card 1.

I now want to buy another. Do I need to buy with credit card 2 and activate with credit card 2? Or can I buy with credit card 1 and activate with credit card 2?

From what you are saying, they just check the actual credit card number. So, I can use two credit cards linked to the same account? eg bank issued mastercard and amex?

          Thanks again for the tip.

        • @chaliban: First you will need to port to another provider to be eligible for "New customer". To activate your same number again (Assuming you switched to another provider and want to come back to Kogan) you will need to verify your account by CC(As new customer). To do this you will need a CC that have never used in Kogan mobile activation service(The CC MUST match the name on the account). Again, this is my experience and it may differ from bank to bank and Kogan might change there policy within time to time.

        • @Bnjam3: Right. But if I don't need to keep the number, and haven't ported out, I can just activate the second voucher/sim with the second CC that has never been used by Kogan.

        • @chaliban: Well yeah you will just need new sim card and new CC and you should be good to go.

        • @Bnjam3:

on ozbargain we apply for every credit card with signup points, and debit cards with $50 signon bonuses?

        • @gikku: i have heard lots of negative news about that debit card :) Not a big fan of applying for credit card as i have a phobia of hurting my credit rating :P But yea ingdirect is great and no account servicing fee and you can have as much as your want :)

  • I think the max you "need" to buy this is only 3 considering you need to activate/use the voucher by 15th August.

    • -4

      Guzman, Uber etc.

    • there's 60 days.
at one a day it's cheaper than ADSL, and faster, just try to keep below 14GB a day.

  • Just used up all my vouchers from last deal, perfect timing!

  • +7

The deal is great and the plan price is also good if you use lots of data. Their activation is hit and miss! Porting your number can take 3 business days if you dont follow up and insist on escalating issues on the same call. Last time i ported my number it was a real horror, my original sim already stopped and my number was frozen and yet the kogan sim still not working. Called them and they seems to not to believe my story, after fighting with them they escalated the matter and asked me to call again in 24 hours if the issue was still there. 24 hours later still not working and called again and abused them for a while, suddenly 5 min later the sim worked :).

    • +2

I totally agree! First time I used Kogan (porting from prepaid Vodafone) they were a dream! Second time was great too! I think an average 15min port time. But 3rd and my most recent experience was an absolute nightmare! Like you I was stuck on the phone to their service team constantly… They had to get their investigations team and I had 2 seperate reference numbers to quote every time I called up :/
But 14GB for $1, you'd expect to deal with a bit of that, but honestly after that last experience, I (almost) thought to myself, is it really worth it? Should I just go on a plan and pay $30+ a month to save myself stress and the extra leg work? :) haha

      • +1

In my last when my number stopped working for 3 days and i have lost lots of urgent calls because them. I dont see my self porting my number again to Kogan even if there was promo, i will either stay with them from now on or just pick a new number for there next promo and use it for one month and throw it later.

        • After these three horror stories in row, and kogan's reputation for poor customer service, I will pass on kogan mobile.

  • +2

    Got one! Thanks Spackbace!!

Was expecting This, but not so soon. :)

  • +1

Of course this comes after buying the Amaysim voucher haha thanks good for the wife

    • +3

I've got a $30 Telstra and Kogan both expiring by the end of June..and looks like an Amaysim on top. Triple unlimited in July.

  • Bought 2! great deal!

  • +2

I've got a voucher code for a 30 days, unlimited call + text with 12GB data that I'm not going to use, anyone wants it? Expiry 30 June 2017. New customers only.

    First to reply gets it.

    • +1

      Can i please have it?

    • +1

I also have one spare, first to PM me gets it.

  • Got one! :D

  • +1

So lemme get this straight. I can buy 3 of this, use 1 sim card and use the 3 vouchers on the card? Then afterwards, get the 365 deal?

    That's evil. I like it.

    • Wouldn't you have to keep porting in and out though?

    • +1

      No it's for new activations

    • You would need all 3 SIM cards, because to use a new voucher (as its for new activations only) you would need to port in to Kogan and use Kogan SIM card 1, then when that month finishes,
you need to port your number out (to a different telco and therefore new sim card, with SIM card 1 being deactivated) then port back in and activate new voucher with a new sim - Kogan sim card 2 (as kogan SIM card1 will be deactivated)

  • How long untio you get the code? Im assuming its not automated?

    • +1

mine was about one hour later

      • haven't receive for more than 3 hours

        • Still waiting also…. give it 24 hrs then worry. :-)

    • Pretty much instant by email, the sim comes in normal mail (obviously).

      • Oh, i got the order confirmation, i guess they send the codes manually during office hours then?

  • ordered 2 , let's hope I can buy the 365-day pack later to add on once the month is over.

    mixo

  • A free kogan mobile sim has been added to your cart ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • Where is the actual voucher code? I must be missing it completely but I don't actually see one… I received the email by kogan regarding my order but can't see any code for the voucher?

    • +1

The code comes later in a separate email. It is usually instant but staff may have finished for the day so expect the email tomorrow.

    • It's a 10-digit code, numbers only.

The email title reads like, "Your Kogan Mobile voucher for order number ABCDE1234"

      • oh I see ^^"

  • No international calls?

    • Correct.

  • just ported on my Lebara sim today, this was good timing…

  • Sorry guys. Need help understanding
So I am on $5 Kogan 30 day 14GB plan at the moment. Can I:
    1. Buy this
    2. Port out of Kogan before August
    3. Port back to Kogan and use my old SIM to activate?

Last time I ordered a free Kogan SIM it took over a week to arrive

    • +1

No you need a new sim to port back in to Kogan. When you buy this $1 offer they send you a free sim to the address you provide.

      • Thanks. Ordered

    • Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe when you port your number to a new telco (and therefore new sim) the old sim from the old telco is deactivated, and should be thrown in the incinerator, correct?

      • +2

        Correct

  • How long does it take to arrive? My housemates capped our internet so I am struggling to survive here.. I Need this ProNTO!!#@

    • Can take a week from experience.

    • First time I ordered it took like 10 days! Ordered another one as I thought the first sim was lost after 7 days and it came the same day as the first so it really depends on when they can be bothered sending it to you.

  • ordered one that had an expiry late march i never used it as i though the deadline to activate it was june 30th. what would be my chances of getting kogan mobile to activate or crediting my account or im better off to order this one?

    • +1

      Costs $1.

  • +2

I had trouble porting out of Kogan to Telstra. Had to call up to Kogan to reconfirm my details, which were correct, changed nothing, but then it worked. A quick Google search suggest it wasn't a unique case. Not a big issue, just an FYI.

  • Just a heads up, I did this over three months, but my ports in and out weren't successful initially, eg Kogan to Lyca and back within the day; Kogan told me the system had a problem with me coming back as a new customer so soon. If you do this be prepared for a days downtime but you can get away with $3 for three months usage

  • awesome timing. my last $1 recharge from last time expires tomorrow.

  • +3

I use these in my Telstra 4GX Wifi units that I picked up from Woolies for $10. Use them when in the car for music streaming or for work for uploading large files (4G beats my crappy ADSL2+ upload speed).

Good way to augment my Telstra Freedom Plus data, so I don't have to move off that glorious plan anytime soon.

    • Can I ask why the Freedom Plus is awesome, besides the fact that the credit can be used as Google Play Credit?

Asking because AFAIK the pricing of it relative to the inclusions make it a relatively unattractive option.

      • +2

The Google Play credit is the main reason. It pays for my Netflix, my Google Play Music and whatever random purchases I decide to make. I also have 5 other family members and friends enjoying these subscriptions (family subscription for music). So it saves quite a bit of $$$. And it covers all my calls and texts. Data is the only area where it's a little skimpy, but I'm usually on wifi and keep a fair bit of music on the phone so I don't have to stream. Without this, I'd be paying another $30 in subscription fees.

      • If you don't buy much on Google Play, the recharge credit (real money) rolls over and accumulates with the Cap Encore Plan (provided you recharge before the monthly expiry date).

If you don't buy much on Google Play, you can skim off the recharge credit (real money) via CreditMe2U with the Freedom Plus Plan. Accumulate the recharge credit on a second SIM.

With the Pre-paid Plus plan, there is no recharge credit (except on a $30 Starter Pack). Your recharge (real money) buys you call/text/data allowances but otherwise it disappears.

        Cap Encore vs Pre-paid Plus

        Freedom Plus vs Pre-paid Plus

  • Whats the best plan to move in between activations? My current one expires 30/6, so can need something to jump to before Kogan reactivates (1 day?)

  • anyone know how long the activation code email takes?

  • Haven't even had time to do a month of Lebara and Amaysim yet

  • Hmm, I should've bought this deal, then use the previous 365 days deal after the first month, but I was too lazy to check OzB! :(

  • has anyone used these in a tablet?

    • +1

I don't think there will be a problem. Just activate it and insert it in the tablet. Some tablets can even make calls if the sim allows it which is this one.

      • Yep worked for me in the Telstra Samsung Tab A 8

  • Can anyone recommend cheap and ok-ish phone that I could use to share the internet (wifi hotspot) with those sims.
I just need those for data sharing.

  • Do they send a sim to your address?
How do you get kogan sim?

  • Sorry for a repeat qn: currently I have kogan sim and prepaid active…how do I use this deal? Switch to something else and then back to Kogan? or is there a way to do it now?
I am not on auto-recharge at the moment.

    • +1

Yes you must switch to something else and then back to Kogan using the new sim and voucher emailed, no way to do it now while you're currently on Kogan unfortunately.

      • +1

        Or get a new number.

      • How do I get a new kogan sim? I when I ordered this last time, I did not receive any SIM in the post.

  • Never tried these before, but do you have to BYO your own number? Or does it provide you with a number? I don't want to port into their service just a one time use.

    • +1

either, port your existing number, or they can assign a new one.

      • Awesome thanks for that!

  • +1

Kogan is setting the market price for pre-paid mobile data

  • Good to do this for 2 months before activating the amaysim 6 month deal

    • Sure this can be done for 2 month? 1 month maybe
based on comment amaysim deal needs to be activated within 30 days of redemption

      • I gave them a call twice and they told me according to the T&Cs you just have to redeem the offer (as in buy it) before 30th of June and activate whenever you like and still be able to get 5 renewals at $9.90…I hope everyone is on the same page though…
EDIT: I am speaking of the 10for6 coupon offer (combined with CR) not the groupon offer actually

        • Sorry, was on different page, i was talking about groupon amaysim deal, think i will email them so have it in writing when the latest i can activate the sim i got in the mail today (had requested to port number currently on previous $1 kogan deal)

        • Yesterday morning I activated my Kogan SIM. Yesterday afternoon my Amaysim SIM from the CashRewards deal arrived in the post already activated! So annoying to have two unlimited SIMs simultaneously active and to lose seven days on Amaysim.

In short, your plan won't work.

        • @alvian:
Huh? You are supposed to activate it online or over the phone..how did that happen?

        • @vincent168: Big fat sticker on the SIM card said "I'm already active and good to go!"

My new mobile number could receive calls even before I broke out the SIM and put it into my phone. When I switched it on I already have an SMS and a voicemail waiting.

So I went into my Amaysim account to verify: "21 days left / Expires 7 Jul 2017" :-(

Someone please tell me how this happened? Not happy.

        • @alvian:
Not mine it gives me instructions to activate online…
Ok seems like you bought a new number, I requested transfer
