Merged from [QLD] Audio Technica AT-LP3 $195 (Was $445) @ JB Hi-Fi, Westfield Ctr, Northlakes
    Go to Deal

Hey folks, appears JB has some discontinued Audio Technica turntables going, I spotted this LP3 at Northlakes Chermside and there was also an LP5 with considerable discount. I'm guessing they're discontinued as I can no longer find their pages on the JB site.

These prices beat out the last time these were posted by $100: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/442748

The above post also includes a great review of these tables, providing a reasonable outline on what to expect from these turntables.

Would've picked up the LP3 myself buuuuut I don't have money to spend on records anyway, not in the Ozbargain spirit to ignore a deal like this - I know, haha.

Anyway, check out your local JB and you might find one of these available in black or white.

      Maybe CDs have taken over!

      • Analogue music beats digital music

        • +1

Well, I was having a laugh but … I think you'd really have to find out if the original recording was done in analogue in the first place and then I think you would have to accept the limitations of the needle in groove thing. But yes, sometimes it sounds great.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Agreed, I have some extremely disappointing vinyls that have obviously been cut from a digital master and some beautiful ones that sound "better" (warmer, more natural, etc.) than high quality digital. Just a matter of preference, isn't it?

            • @bthaddad: It definitely is a matter of preference. I record my own music at 20bit and it sounds amazing and faithful to the original sounds. Until it becomes an MP3! Nothing wrong with good digital!

    • The black AT-LP3 is still on JB's website for $648, so I'm guessing it's just the white model that has been heavily discounted. An incredible price though for a quality player.

    • +2

Wow that's cheaper than some posh lazy susans..

      Northlakes Chermside

So it's at both North Lakes AND Chermside?

      • +3

haha it's almost like the suburb names are now synonymous with Westfield

        • Oops, that's right! Can't tell I'm new to town.

      • Maybe North Lakes === West Fields?

    • So how much was the lp5?

      • +1

Can't remember sorry. In the $400-$500 range.

      • Just went back this weekend and discount price has a further 30% off, LP5 is $350~, total steal. :)

    • This is an excellent player. I upgraded to this after I started my vinyl journey on a AT-LP60-USB.

Payed $440 for mine so this is a steal. Would recommend to any person looking at getting into Vinyl.

Just beware, It gets quite expensive if you like me, collect 5 variants of 1 album!.

Just got one from Kawana JB Hi-Fi as they were putting the clearance tickets up! Thanks so much for this, been eyeing one off for a while

      • Ended up changing my mind and went to a JB this weekend, an extra 30% was applied to make it $136.50!

  • Merged from Dlink unified wireless AC1200 access point DWL-6610AP $39 Officeworks Doncaster

Just saw this in officeworks Doncaster VIC. Not sure if any other store has it.
Have no idea what to do with it, but had to pick it up for $39 (down from $468)
I know of 2 more on the shelf.
if anyone has any tips on how to use it, would appreciate it.

    • +1

i wish i was near any officeworks.

    • +2

It’s an access point. So if you want to extend your wifi then you run a network cable from your existing router to the AP. Mostly for mounting to the ceiling.

  • Merged from [VIC] Free Roast Chicken @ Woolworths Hawthorn East
    Go to Deal

About a dozen full roast chickens at Woolworths Hawthorn East (HomeCo) completely free. Took two, they will definitely be throwing some out when they close at 12am.

    • Why are they free?

      • Last night I got one at $4, tonight they had too many leftover so they're just giving them away rather than throw them out.

    • -3

Does it include Woolworths Rewards points?

    • Normally they put them in the fridge and sell it the next day as cold

    • So there's 4 left? Targeted to people nearby? 🤣

      • Like 8 left after I grabbed my two 20 min ago

  • Merged from [WA] Ryobi 36V Brushless Chainsaw Kit Clearance for $375 (RRP $499) @ Bunnings Melville
    Go to Deal

    Hey peeps

First time post, long time lurkgainer.

Found this awesome deal for a Ryobi 36V Chainsaw Kit at Bunnings Melville. There was 1 left on the shelf.

Not sure if this meant to be on clearance as their website doesn't reflect it. Please see images of the clearance tag.
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-36v-4-0ah-35cm-brushless-c…

Note: The chainsaw scanned up as $499 but they still honoured the clearance tag.

So good luck and happy hunting.

Where u gonna find the food from?

    • Anyone know if Epping have this?

    • -4

great just what we need a way for hoarders to hoard more food, can we ban these deals!?

go hoarders, neg away, everyone hates your selfishness!

      • ban freezer dealers?

        talk about over reaction

maybe we should ban petrol, because fill up cars that are used to drive to supermarkets to hoard

        • Better idea, ban the virus then we’ll all be safe…

          • @mapax: ban the stupidity of stockpiling, - or exporting to over seas to make a buck, or buying to sell on ebay for 9 bux a roll

(note i dont have an issue with a small contingency plan - having a couple to a few weeks of food on hand) what i do have an issue with it people filling trollies up with goods when the shelves are empty. its too late to stockpile now.

            • @wisc: I agree, especially on the exporting. A friend is a security guard at a meat processing facility and over the past few weeks they have ramped up exports. He said a conservative guess would be 30% more trucks have been sent out over the past 2 weeks and they’re all destined for the airport and not local wholesalers.

  • Merged from [VIC] Ring Video Doorbell (v1) and Chime Pro Kit $100 @Bunnings Box Hill

Popped into Bunnings to pick up a ring doorbell and chime. Was surprised to find that this kit is on clearance for $100. Individually they are $139 for the doorbell and $78 for the Chime pro, so effectively 54% off!

They had 3 left at time of purchase, posting from the car park

Dodgy form on Google Docs. What could go wrong?

      • It's posted from the Dev's Twitter account and there's no sign the Twitter account has been hacked. Regardless worst case is you get a bunch of spam emails.

        • Ever heard of a drive by download? Not saying it will happen but it certainly could. That's true for any link to some degree though. I once had a virus blocked by my AV on an ad served when I visited dpreview.com.

  • Merged from [VIC] PXC 2x18V 356MM BRUSHLESS CHAINSAW KIT 3.0ah $142.00, Clearance @ Bunnings, Mentone
    Go to Deal

Edit: To clarify: This is a Chainsaw Kit with a dual charger, 2x 3.0ah batteries, as well as the chainsaw skin which takes 2x 18v batteries to run. This is the larger bar 356mm version.

Saw 5 of these on sale at Bunnings Mentone to the right as you enter at the front of the store. I took one so there's 4x left. The guy said they're run-out so once they're gone, they're gone.

I'm fairly sure these kits used to be $215.

The charger and 2x 3.0AH batteries alone are worth >$100 if bought separately.

    • +2

Thanks OP, happen to see any deals on hockey masks??

    • +1

      Saw 5 of these

      Very clever.

    • Is this 2 chainsaws or 2 batteries. The title suggests 2 chainsaws.

      • I think this is the line where they use 2x 18v batteries to achieve 36v of power. Those are denoted as PXC 2x if I remember correctly.

    • BEST… CHAINSAW… EVER! Well, obviously not but even at their full price they're excellent machines!

    • -2

      2 X 1.5amp batteries. Zoom into photo.

      • +1

        They are definitely 3.0ah batteries.

      • Yeah, zoomed in and they're definitely 2x 3.0Ah!

    • Not a bad deal OP. Nice work.

Seems they are doing a general clean out of these. I saw a Ozito chainsaw kit for $90 at Frankston a few days ago (Charger, 3ah battery, sharper and chainsaw)
      It was this one https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-chainsaw-and-sharp…

      • Wow that's a good price.

I wanted to 2x 18v larger bar version for the extra grunt.

I don't know if they're replacing with a new model or just discontinuing.

        • Yeah fair call. The extra grunt will come in handy if you're slicing firewood. The one I saw is probably more suited to the casual user, who just needs to do the odd prune

      • +1

The normal saw is OK but the larger 2x 18V Brushless wipes the floor with it! I know, I have multiples of both :)

    • +1

Can price match at any bunnings with stock enjoy

      • +2

Isnt it at the managers discretion store by store?

        • Yes, this ^

          • @jamestownfx: Yes that’s what some say but I did it today on an item when to a heap of bunnings for a price match and was told by a manager we now price match other bunnings but iv been doing it for 10 years

    • Geez this is a good price, will check local tomorrow

    • $142 is the system price. Was lucky enough to get one for half that, but they were all gone after that. The skin only is currently $199. Great saw for the price. Used mine with my existing 4.0ah batteries and the saw lasted longer than I did.
