    The RRP’s the OP has listed appear to be the highest price he has found on the web, which can be higher than the actual RRP. @PJC certainly has a history of claiming RRP’s considerably higher than the manufacturer themselves set.

    At best the prices he lists represent the range available on the net, in which case the “% off RRP” figures are meaningless and therefore misleading.

    While many members are on top of this, newcomers to the site may not be. Watches are often high priced discretionary items – let’s not drive anyone to make a purchase they may not normally make by this ongoing farce especially given some people are doing it hard.

          Well they do have somewhat of a point. Checking Camel Camel, the watches have never been anywhere near the prices the OP has listed as being on sale from. Some even appear to have increased in recent times.

          It could be argued that quoting the RRP and subsequent percentage alteration, when it's irrelevant to the regular non-sale price, borders on being willfully misleading. It's certainly not assisting anyone in making an informed decision.

          Normally it's this type of manipulative advertising that savvy Ozbargainers weed out and eradicate from the site with enthusiastic fervor. It's curious to see them defend it on this occasion.

          Anyone can submit a deal post, but whether the post is a bargain or not is determined by the community. It is up to the poster how they want to present the pricing in their post, as long as it meets Ozbargain guidelines. The onus of making an informed purchase does not rest with OP, one has to do their own research. The caveat emptor rule always applies.

          The distinction is immaterial. Ozbargainers are being mislead with deliberate intent. Again, this is the type of stuff that commonly gets eviscerated around here. It's fascinating seeing it accepted and defended.

          This particular topic has been reported in previous posts and mods have directly inquired the method of discount representation PJC chooses, to which he has explained and it was allowed to continue. What else needs to be eviscerated?

          Open a letterbox catalogue from your local jewellery shop (e.g. Prouds, Michael Hill, Bevilles) and see the way they advertise discounts in percentage. Willfully misleading? No, what matters is the final asking price, that's the invitation to treat. Have you researched on the price, or are you happy to pay the asking price of $129 for a quartz Lorus?

I'm not sure why criticism of this practice is being shutdown. Posting many, many watches in the one post also seems to avoid the effect of the voting system quite well. OzBargain should know better.

    I was thinking of purchasing #39 but then in the tech specs it says.

    Batteries: 1 Nonstandard Battery batteries required. (included)

    What is a non-standard battery? Does that mean I can't take it to an ordinary watch store to change the battery, and that I can't do it myself?

      An ordinary watch store or Mister Minit will be capable and, once you know which battery you need, you will be able to do it yourself.
