How often do these watch deals pop up?

Thanks, but spent a little too much recently so have to wait until next time. Some beautiful pieces here, though!

    • +1

I wish it had popped up, compiling this list required about 20 hours. I always aim for a minimum 50% discount and for some reason it was harder finding 70 Edifice than 100 CASIO G-SHOCK. Still, take your time perusing the list and you may find something more tempting than usual.

      • +1

        Well, appreciate the effort.

I do like the EFR-517L-1AVDR but I was wondering if you knew of a similar watch (non-metal strap and similar style - sleek silver and black with triple-dial timers with similar, sleek high-quality finish) but which is automatic as opposed to quartz/battery-powered?

Name-brand and similar price range preferred, but all depending what's out there.

        • That watch is No. 56 here. For that price-range you must forfeit "name-brand" to get an automatic chronograph. Consider this and this and this. If you dislike the strap add a better quality one. Those watches may be cheaper on Aliexpress.

        • @PJC: That last watch is gorgeous - what price range would I be looking at for name brand?

Thanks for your help by the way.

        • @The Gent: Consider this.

It's been pointed out to me that #51 is at an historical high on Amazon.

As I said, you can't tell if there's a bargain to be had without doing your own research, and while experienced members may generally do that, members of the public driven by FOMO are less likely to do so.

You will also notice @PJC has chosen not to deal with the substance of my comments. I’ll assume that’s a strategic decision, but one that is also ill-advised. Members are generally not fools.

      PMSL.

Poor Scotty must be terrified, probably packing his bargains up and absconding with the mods in tow.

    • +8

You didn't get your way so you are going to waste our [taxpayers] money in a huge sulk.
Don't bother about the door, your arse can probably take it.

    • +7

Thanks for wasting our tax money on such a ridiculous complaint.

    • +7

      TheGhostWhoComplained.

I can see this becoming OzBargain folklore.

      • +5

Someone should add this to the awesome posts Wiki.

    • +9

I have taken this matter up previously with the Mods without success

You have been previously advised, perhaps you should stop flattering yourself?

I almost always seek to resolve issues directly when I can

You failed to announce that you have just joined Ozbargain. For those interested, questionable motive in your attempt to resolve 'issues'.

For me this is not simply a matter of ‘posting guidelines’, it’s a matter of consumer law. I have a lot of respect for OzBargain, but on this occasion I think they’ve got it wrong.

You would not have kept launching attacks on certain long-time members' posts had you any respect for a site you just joined barely 30 days ago. I told you before, respect is earned, not freely given - you don't respect this community, why are you here?

Lastly, and this is just for laughs, I hope you signed off on the ACCC complaint as "Phantom" from "Skull Cave" like you usually do with your ludicrous comments on here, but I'm sure the efficient staff at ACCC will take your report just as serious with a name like "TheGhostWhoWalks".

Other than that - cool story, bro (I know, you told me you aren't my bro, but it wouldn't work if I had said "cool story, punk", so yeah)

    • +7

That's not cool at all mate.
Even if you didn't agree with the post. To go that far is just ridiculous. And on top of that, to a bloody good community member who put a lot of hours compiling a post. That just shows no respect.

    • +6

I would ask that you raise this issue with OzBargain and request they refrain from publishing RRP figures unless they have clear evidence they are as claimed, and to fully refrain from publishing any “% off RRP” figures at all given their capacity to mislead.

I would ask that you leave ozbargain and request that you refrain from publishing any inflammatory comments unless you have clear evidence that you've reformed; and to fully refrain from accessing the site at all, given your capacity to act like an absolute tosser.

      As the saying goes:

This is why we can't have nice things.

LOL, can't help if you want to go down the path of Orpheus.

        • +2

Two knee pads for a poodle's four knees?

The logic of my arguments is what I rely on. I've got plenty of money in the bank from corporates who have paid me well for my capacity for analysis.

        • @PJC: Yes they have. I see you have plenty of time on your hands with these posts and comment voting history. I don't, regrettably.

  • +5

I just noticed this 49.6mm Casio at a cheap price (only 4 in stock) -
    Casio MTD1082-1AV Super Illuminator US$45.76 + $5.89 Shipping
    Camel Price Check

Oh yeah and thanks for posting Op, we are lucky to have member's like you who give so much of your time to helping others find great bargains.

    • +2

Not an Edifice but now included as No. 01a.

    • In the Amazon description….

“Water Resistant To 100m (330ft): In General, Suitable for Swimming and Snorkeling, but not Diving.”

…… swimming and snorkeling down to 100m?

      • +1

That is not a measurement of depth, but of pressure. Normal swimming should be fine. Forget about snorkeling and of course diving.

      • -2

The metre is the fundamental unit of length in the metric system, and in this context a measurement of depth.

They are also fanciful figures, however that is industry practice.

Swimming and snorkelling should be fine, as long as you're not free-diving to significant depth.
