  Just wanna say, if you can get a titanium one, get it. It's SO much lighter than the stainless steel one. I've used my titanium one over all my other watches because it's so much more comfortable and the battery cell is still going strong after about 8 years of use

    That's fair enough but I've never had to take off my stainless steel watch because it was too heavy. I don't even feel it on my wrist.

    Depends on the watch. I've only got one real porker in the collection, a stainless steel Seiko Recraft automatic that is way heavier than anything else in the collection. That said, I have titanium Citizen which is a touch over 100 and you do notice it if swapping between the two. Not so much between the others though

    The titanium is nice, though. If you can justify the price differential it's worth it.

    I've got a titanium band on my Casio Protrek, while it's really light, it does get scratched more easily so wouldn't recommend for use on a daily commute.

      Titanium itself is softer than hardened steel, but the upmarket Citizen Titanium models all have at minimum a TIC (Titanium Carbide) coating which makes it 5x harder than hardened steel while being 40% lighter.

      The top end models have DLC (Diamond Like Coating) or MRK which is even harder.

    that permanently rechargeable solar cell/capacitor has a 10 year shelf life. a lot of the time these rechargeable "battery free" tech items have huge discounts are because of its battery/capacitor.

      capacitors arent batteries, at best most capacitors hold their "charge" for moments. Anything like 10 years is not a capacitor but is a battery.

        the 10 years is the life of the cell not how long it holds the charge. ecodrive is marketed as battery free.

        Eco-Drive isn't marketed as "battery-free" in fact, on the website it even tells you what kind of battery they use:

        The contemporary Lithium–titanate battery used in the Eco-Drives are estimated to lose 20% of the maximum capacity every 20 years. Thus the expected "life" of the battery is much longer.

    I would have thought the Seiko Solar would have been the better comparison, yeah? I think they're pretty much equivalent with general consensus that Citizen have a slight edge - it's certainly a much more widespread feature in their range and is combined with a wider range of features (radio timing, GPS, chrono, etc) than Seiko seem to. I have a Pulsar (Seiko tech) and a Citizen with the solar tech and they're pretty easily managed, have had no issues

    Seiko's kinetic is pretty similar except the battery's charged by movement rather than light - that kinda feels like a quartz with the disadvantages of an automatic in that you have to wear the watch to charge it. It's also a more complicated design than a solar cell.

    Absolutely because if you don't wear an Eco-Drive for a while it can still be charging by leaving it near a window.
    I never leave mine in direct sunlight though.

  some nice promasters in the listing, i’m a great fan of the eco-drive wr200 watches with screw down crown, i wear my watches when swimming in pool and ocean.

  if you are a female , it’s 70% for the ladies promaster dive watch, wish it was the men’s at that price.

  maybe my next dive watch will be the seiko padi or similar.

    Yeah, it's insane. As general rule you can get most Seikos and Citizens for less than half the price of retail, and typically a third if you're keeping an eye on sales - and then there are outliers like the one you mention. Local retail range is limited, too - I wasn't even aware of the Seiko Recraft range until I stumbled upon it at a retailer in the US.

        In 2016 I nearly bought a Citizen Titanium for $50 via Gumtree. Instinct told me to request an extra picture. When my phone received it I saw scratches above the 12 which would have annoyed me every time I looked at the watch.

  Got one similar to 81 from Jomashop a few weeks back. Love it. Perpetual calendar is a feature worth paying for. Not sure about paying for radio/GPS timing correction as these watches are so accurate that I haven't need to correct the time anymore than once per year.
