Was in store today and they advised just updated last night, and to go into store for offer!

Note: The $200 & $300/$500 gift card deal is for new or port in customers (as already stated). However existing customers are still eligible for the extra double data on both plans and are also eligible for $300 credit for a phone purchase on the $65 BYO. Thanks BenTennyson.

Ballarat VIC. Annoying with no other store within 50km

        • You got till Nov 24, so hopefully you'll get there!

        • I got the deal today. The store rep could see I only ported out last week but he didn’t care and I still got the deal with gift cards.

  • oh here we go! JB making up the rules as they go along.

    Which store was this?

  • Anyone signed up to this and have the full page of the plan details and inclusions etc?

  • +1

Went in to the Brisbane CBD store today and got the $45 plan, port took ten minutes from Optus. The rep said this deal is pretty much permanent as part of the new JB Mobile program, though potentially not with the gift card forever.

    • Did you get the $200 gift card when you signed up today though?

  • Signed up today and got the $200 gift card straight away.

    Ported from Optus.

  • Are there any gift cards for porting in for a plan with mobile or is it purely BYO plans?

  • Does anyone know if JBHIFI does pricematch for e.g. Note 9 against TGG 20% off ?

  • Just signed up for the deal - the entire process took about 20 minutes for me, so make sure you set aside some time. Picked up a new Pixel 3 with the gift card!

  • Got the deal easily from JB Hifi Springvale - all up 20 mins.

  • Ported out to Amaysim yesterday on a $2 Sim. Back into Telstra today at JB Kawana, took about 25 minutes and got the $200 gift card. Such a good deal.

  • Potted out to Vodafone overnight and ported back the next eve. Two mobiles. One on $65 and the other on $45. $500 + $200 = $700 credit. No issues. JB hifi Bourke St Melbourne.

    • Hope u are alright and not affected by the incident @ bourke St … thats near to jb hifi bourke st

      • Thank you for your concern. I was there right about 24 hours before the incident. While I was coming out, I realised this is a happy place - locals, tourists, kids, great weather. 24 hrs later, not so much.

Really happy with the customer service from their new-ish store in Pitt St, Sydney. The guy I dealt with was friendly and knew what he was talking about. Because he's employed by JB and not Telstra I didn't get some sap trying to sell me the more expensive, unnecessary plan. Am definitely going back to that store to use my gift card when the time arises.

Anyways, I was Telstra pre-paid, ported to Vodafone pre-paid on Monday, then back to Telstra for the $45/m deal yesterday. No hassles, all up took about 15 minutes in store, didn't need to go through a credit check as I was previously a Telstra customer and showed in their system. Once the 12 months are up, the bonus data doesn't 'go away' - you'll still get 50gb of data a month if you want to stay on the plan but the guy said there will probably be a better deal by then anyway so you can swap to that.

Side note - Vodafone sucks. Not once in the four days I was on Vodafone did I have full reception (I live less than 10km from the CBD). Glad to be back on Telstra.

I believe I saw on the guy's computer screen that the deal is valid until 27 November. As other comments have said, this deal might be permanent but just without the gift card after that date.

EDIT: I hope this doesn't come across as an ad for Telstra - for a company known to be so stingy I am just surprised they have a deal this great.

    • I believe I saw on the guy's computer screen that the deal is valid until 27 November.

Cool. Got till then to decide if I should port back in.

    • Do you happen to have the name of the rep? i'm planning to port out for a few days as well but given that other people haven't had luck with the 30 day rule i didn't want to port out for no reason.

      • +1

Sorry can't remember - there were two guys standing around the phones and both seemed to be quite friendly and happy to port you no matter how long you've been on the other carrier (the other guy was swapping someone from Voda to Telstra as well).

    • Hi, when you say new-ish store, you mean the one inside Westfield shopping centre in Sydney CBD?

      • +1

The one I went to was at 80 Pitt St - not to be confused with the one underground The Strand near the Westfield.

  • Awesome deal, ported-in for the wife last month, then thought to myself to try and ask for port-in credit. So hopped online to chat and was successful. Sold $200 GC for $180 here, and $10 off / month, so basically we only paying $20 / month for 50GB on this plan. Wonder if I can be a bit greedy and try my luck with the "loyalty" credit of $10 as I have 2 numbers with them (the other is the famous Pixel 2 XL deal from last year).

  • signed up the other day. Good deal.. but why does all the plan documentation from telstra sent to email still say 15GB ? Can't see any mention of the bonus data - am I going to get screwed? :S

  • I ended up cancelling my plan, including my number.. Oops.

Went to JB and signed up as a new customer, then called Telstra to change my number to my old number :)

    • Oh how difficult was thus to do?
I have an existing Telstra plan that expires in Jan.
I’m thinking about porting my other number with TPG now and then change it to my existing Telstra number later. Do I need to cancel the currently active Telstra number or can I just merge the two?

      • +1

I cancelled, signed up and changed number in the same day. Apparently they can put a hold on numbers for 30 days. Ask 24/7.

        • Cool! Thanks a lot

  • +1

Anyone able to confirm if this deal expires on 24th or 27th or will be extended beyond these date?

  • I signed up for this deal on Saturday after doing a port out to Optus Friday morning, I got there in the end but it certainly didn't go smoothly like others had stated!

I dealt with the pre-sale b.s. from JB staff about the contract and was offered the $200 voucher as part of the current deal, sign-up process completed in store without issue (JB staff only asked who my current provider was with no interest in how long I had been a customer with them), then left the store while the activation was in process. I returned 30 min later to get my gift card and walk out with a pixel 3 for $899 (they offered a further $100 discount on top of the voucher when discussing initially), but it was this point where the sales person then said I was NOT eligible for the voucher as I had not been with the other provider for 30 days, but I could keep the contact (how generous of them!).

After about half an hour of negotiation (argument!) with the sales person and then escalating to the store manager, I convinced them to honor the $200 discount on the grounds that I was never asked how long my number was not with Telstra (otherwise I would have disclosed the fact and not continued with the contract sign-up, I was only there for the voucher), the additional $100 discount disappeared pretty quick though. I felt they more likely caved just to get me out of the store, but I somehow managed to get a Google fabric case thrown into the deal.

Not sure if I scored a bargain or not getting a Pixel 3 64gb plus Google case for $999 outright on the 12 month $45/50gb contract (I buy phones outright and Salary Sacrifice through work, hence the appeal of the $200 voucher), but the process to go through for it was far from pleasant!

IMHO, if your after this deal port out for 30 days before applying, although it probably wont be around then anyway (maybe the next deal will be better!)…

    • Getting the $100 of Pixel 3 on top of $200 voucher would've been a great bargain.

We tried but our salesperson wouldn't discount the Pixel 3 - only the accessories.

      • Agreed, I was more disappointed in myself for not whipping out the credit card as soon as this was mentioned!

  • If anyone is looking at getting this deal, I'd hold off until Friday.

    • +1

      Are you hoping or sharing?

      • +1

Sorry, just logged back on. Sharing…

        • Are you aware of any better deals coming on Friday?

    • Intriguing

    • Interesting! My 30 days are still ticking away… is there something better coming?

I'm starting to get itchy feet, and want to pull the trigger back to Telstra in case I miss this deal, but if there is something better soon……

Do tell please :) Even just a (bit more of a) hint.

      • A JB rep told me today it would be worth delaying till tomorrow, it's a one-day only (Black Friday?) offer, and my understanding is port-ins only, not existing. I have a number on Optus prepaid, but will only be just over 3 weeks tomorrow.

        • Any update on this? Going to JB today.

          • @crazyj: I would say this is it.. Not great though I don't think - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/419037

            • @Fitzy777: Oh man… that's not good. I was hoping for some bucks off this plan, or extra data.

              • @crazyj: You could sell the Pixel 3 off, but otherwise I don't think it's a fantastic deal either — unless you wanted one of the phones on offer.

                • @quarrymaster: Yea not as good as I was hoping it was going to be… If you want the XL 128GB it's only $600 more minus the $200 credit (so $400). Annoying that the XL is not included at all.

  • Isn't the $45 one supposed to be 50gb? I have 15gb+5gb bonus..

  • Does anybody know if JB is offering the Telstra $54/Month FNF deal? with the bonus $200 gift card option?

  • +1

This is marked as expired. Is it actually expired?

I ended up signing on Friday 23rd for the $45pm deal, got the $200 jb card.

I churned off Telstra for around 20 days, and a last invoice was raised for credit, so I must've qualified.

Took around 30 mins in-store for deal including active sim and getting the $200 card.

    • +1

Drats, was planning on doing it today! Will double-check in-store.

[Update: Just called up, still available.]

      • +1

thx for the update! I've reported this thread so that the deal can be opened up as available once more.

      • Did they indicate when this is scheduled to end? Hope not so soon as I won't be able to get to a JB store before this coming weekend…..

        • I was told in store a few days ago that it ends on the 27th. Suppose it could get extended.

          • @Sindex: I didn't check again, but I do remember the 27th being mentioned as well.

Can confirm I was also able to get the $45 50GB + $200 Voucher deal. Happy days!

  • Is this offer still live?

    • It was this afternoon, but as it's an in-store only offer, best to give your local a call before heading in.

  • Just tried at two different JB's but was pinged twice during the process for not being out of the Telstra network for 30 days (Telstra pickup, not JB).

JB Rep also mentioned that this double data offer ends TODAY. Get in quick if you are eligible.

    • How long were you away? I ported out for 25 days and was ok.

      • Only a couple of days :(

        • There’s apparently some new offer from Telstra starting tonight. Maybe all’s not lost.

  • +1

Hi All, So I had 2x Telstra Pre-Paid numbers. Ported them to Optus at about 9am this morning. Walked into JB Hi-Fi at 11am and ported them back to this $45 Telstra deal. Said nothing to them about my port out. Only question I was asked was if i was ever a Telstra customer to which I answered "once upon a time yes". The process for both lines took about 40 mins and walked out with 2x$200 gift cards.

This was Chermside JB Hi Fi QLD… No dobbing on me in if a JB/Telstra rep reads this!

  • just signed up today at 4pm new number and received $200 gift card
Sales Rep at JBHiFi in Brunswick said there were some deals expiring today but wasn't sure if this was one of them

  • https://www.jbhifi.com.au/mobile/ still mentions these $45 and $65 plans but doesn't mention the $200+ vouchers

Are those still part of the deal?

    • +1

They don’t advertise the offer online.

  • +3

Just told in store it's been extended until 27 December.

    • It’s a great offer.

    • Is the $200 gift card offer still valid?

  • Can I apply for it before Christmas but active it in January after I come back from holiday?

    • I think it’s active when you port-in.

      • Thanks.

  • Took advantage of the $45/month plan with 50GB. I was with Telstra until December 22 then ported to Kogan and now back to Telstra without having to wait 30 days.

    • Is the $200 gift card offer still valid

  • Ported in today and received the $200 gift card.. thanks OP!

  • Ported to optus prepaid this morning at about 0900 went to JB ported back about 1030
$200 gift card in hand 10mins later after confirmation of port.

  • are these plans still available?

    • Good question, I'm wanting to re-join but wouldn't mind that $200 voucher

      • Just rang them to confirm and yes it's still on :)

        • +2

Signed up and got my gift card :)

  • Anyone know if this deal is still on?

    • Someone just reposted it and it was not published as a duplicate, so I guess mods think it’s still on…

      • I just checked and deal is still on as of today.

    • Can confirm the deal will be on indefinitely.

  • When you buy the phone, are they going to add in a $500 gift card to the invoice or they subtract the total price by $500?

    • They subtract it from the phone cost

      • But I thought they give you a gift card??

    • The T&C’s state:

“The applicable credit will be deducted from the cost of your eligible handset at point of sale within the JB Hi-Fi store. This Phone Credit must be used at the time you sign up to the Plan and is not transferable or redeemable for cash (including any unused part).”

      • So it is store credit and is not gift card for phone. I would prefer the invoice say the full amount as when I sell the phone, the buyer will feel ripped off as I got a discounted phone instead of the full price phone.

    • @CoreJava:

      Just some clarifications for you;

The $45 BYO gives a $200 gift card (ie. can be used on anything from JB, but obviously most people put it towards the cost of buying an outright phone)

The $65 BYO gives a $500 'phone credit' (ie. NOT a gift card.) This phone credit is tied directly to the IMEI number of the phone you intend to buy and as such we make sure you've fully decided which phone you want to buy before doing anything else. This credit is automatically applied to your purchase at the counter.

Regarding the invoice, with both plans you will still receive a full priced docket to take to the counter and a full price invoice when you pay. So if a phone cost $1000 outright, and you ported onto the $65 plan, your invoice will show a $1000 purchase, but it will show that $500 was paid from your credit card, and the other $500 paid via a voucher.

      • Thanks.

      • Hi, if I buy a phone do I have to use it with the Sim plan or can I use Sim on another phone and sell/give away the new phone? And is it locked or unlocked? Thank you

        • +1

Phone will be network unlocked, so yeah you can sell the phone if you want.

The plan itself is a BYO plan, so the idea is that you bring your own phone. JB just essentially is there to help you with the whole 'bringing your own phone' part (ie. by selling you a phone to bring). So yeah feel free to use the new plan on whatever phone you want, and feel free to do whatever you want with the phone you buy using the $500 credit.

  • Hi Guys - does anyone know if both my wife and I sign up to the $45 per month plan - can we combine these under one bill? I don't suppose pooling the data is available? I do have an ABN if there is a business plan equivalent of this deal.
