  • Does anyone know current JB plans if they have changed?

  • Did this today - ported two services out in the morning - Optus was a quicker port than Aldi but cost more as I had to put on a $10 recharge. Went to JB a few hours later and they didnt ask about the 30 day thing (Wagga NSW branch). $65 plan is 24 months and no gift card - designed for phone purchase only. 2x $45 plans netted me the 2x $200 gift cards with no expiry.

Just experienced my best customer experience ever!

I was just helping a friend find a deal & found him this one…I had signed up with a similar deal back in June ($49, 25GB, $200 JB) & thought I’d try my luck. Used online chat, stated I wasn’t happy with their service & even though I have 4+ months still to go, she waived the 3 figure cxc fee & allowed me to renew!

Saved $4pcm, doubled my data & yet another $200 towards my new JB Hi-Fi TV… lovely! Same again in 6 months time, lol.

    • +1

Im a bit confused. You online chat Telstra ? How did you manage get a $200 jb hifi voucher

    • +1

And you did this without porting out?

      • The deal is for new customers or renewing customers. I just said I wasnt happy & she would waive the cxc fee for my remaining contract.
I've yet to renew but shes given me the ITN number to use instore when I go this week at JBHiFi. I'll then just sign up, again.
        She said it would work.

Telstra are very much about keeping customers atm.

  • +9

Just thought I’d let everyone know, I just went into store and the current end date for this deal is 30th June 2019

    • Cheers for this.

Hey guys, just did this today. Took around 30 minutes from start to walking out with my giftcard.
I went to Telstra live chat afterwards and was able to successfully get my $10 credit.

To quote the rep: "I am adding $10 discount on your plan as port in benifits"

I also asked if this would apply to another service I'm planning to bring to my account and they confirmed it would.

    • Oh so the $10 port in discount , is not done by JB? So we have to contact Telstra after?

      • +2

Yup, I did it via the live chat and took around 10 minutes.

    • whats the $10 credit for ?

      • The plan, brings it down to $35 p/m

        • $35 for 50gb? The other $200 JB gift card?

    • +1

So how did the conversation go? I am planning to move from Vodafone and was wondering how I would go abouts on your method.

      • +4

pancaeks: Hi <rep>, I just ported in my number to Telstra and they said a $10 monthly credit might be able to be applied as a port-in discount

        Rep: Let me check
        -Asks for account details-
I am adding $10 discount on your plan as port in benifits

pancaeks: I'm thinking about moving another number onto the same plan… Can that number take advantage of the discount too?

Rep: Yes, you can able to port in another number under smae billing account and plan

        • Wow. It is that simple. Thanks will give it a go.

        • +1

Just did the port-in and thank you, I received the $10 credit and giftcard! Pretty much followed your steps.

          • +1

@Aced21: No problem, it's ozbargain after all!

          • @Aced21: @Aced21
Could you please provide the Telstra Chat Rep's name? I've tried twice since yesterday with no luck. Looks like this depends on the rep. So please provide the name & chat/case reference # so I can try again. :-)

        • Hi @pancaeks,
Could you please provide the Telstra Chat Rep's name? I've tried twice since yesterday with no luck. Looks like this depends on the rep. So please provide the name & chat/case reference # so I can try again. :-)

          • @Optimus1: I think my reps name was Shruti. I didn't save the chatlog so I don't have a reference for you.

    • Confirmed - a short chat with Telstra on their live chat gave me a $10 credit after porting to JB/Telstra's $45 plan this arvo.

  • This might sound stupid, be hear (read?) me out

Can someone sign up to the BYO $45/month 12 month contract, and then immediately re-contract for the 24m $65/month?
Thus you'd get the $200 JB Hifi voucher and $300/$500 credit

The reason I ask is because it was done in this post:
    Telstra Friends and Family
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/342769

Would it not work because when you are re-contracting, you are no longer a new customer?

    • I mean, you'd have to pay the contract termination fee too which I think was $270ish once you cancel the $45p/m plan.

      • Online chat said they waive ETC fees for re-contracting customers.
The exception is if you have device payment fees, which wouldn't exist for a BYO contract

However I guess the $300/$500 credit would not be available.

        • +1

Earlier posts indicate that you have to be a new service, someone ported out to Optus for 10 minutes and ported back in.
          I'd guess it wouldn't work.

    • I got that 2017 deal. Signup at JB then walk into Telstra to change to the FF plan. There were no problems or fees because I was going from a $49 to $59 plan, and Telstra said since it was an upgrade then it was fine. I also got the $10 monthly port in credit.

  • So I went to redeem this offer last night based off my Telstra online chat exchange, even though a Telstra contract until June.

JB could do the deal but not include the gift card though.

I stated I wanted to buy a TV from them though & the manager was able to reduce the Hisense P7 from $995 > $810 with $47 delivery. Sorely tempted.

Just tried Telstra online chat again to see if I can the $10 discount, if I took the JB deal but they wouldn’t budge.

Next I will be trying my local JB for the gift card again & if not, will probably take the deal with the TV :)

  • Checked at jbhifi Parra. If you’re with telstra and want to take this deal up, jbhifi rep can sort it out, but will miss out on the gift card.

  • Is there any cool down period for porting?

From Telstra to Voda back to Telstra.

Guys at jb said there is 1 month cool down restriction.

    Any news about this.

    • I asked today, there's no cool down period.

  • +4

Can confirm I also managed to get the $45 plan reduced to $35/month using live chat! Fantastic value with the $200 gift card

    • Just to clarify, Did you do this after signing up at JB? E.g. sign up at JB then go on live chat and ask for port in discount?

      • +2

Correct! Signed up at JB, then about an hour later jumped on Telstra live chat, was very painless and took about 5 minutes. Good luck!

  • +1

Got the approval. Unfortunately when I ported in last October didn't pay attention to the additional $10 discount. Did it yesterday over chat and got an approval on the spot. So those rookies such as myself that forgot to do it, can do it now.

    • I'd like to do this. I don't suppose you have a transcript of how the conversation went at all?

  • Rep just told me that the port-in offer expired last month.

Will call up again later on and see what another rep says.

    • I'd love to know where this $10 off port-in offer was posted. I did the ol' swap-out in October 2018 - would love to get $10 off.

  • +1

I have free international calls and 60 GB data (30+30). I am paying $49/month (after 2 discounts of $10 each). Should I ask them to make it $39?

    • I'm trying to get the same but not getting much luck. any tips? and how long ago you were able to negotiate this ?

  • -2

Managed to get the $10 port-in discount… keep in mind people it's a once off thing anyway… sooo back to $45 from next month, lol

    • It’s not a once off thing it’s for the life of the plan. At least it is for me anyway.

    • Not a once off thing. unless you said the wrong things to the agent and got shafted instead lol.
In the "updated" order contract that they sent me, it says "Go Mobile Plus Special Offer" with -$10.00 ongoing monthly.

  • Can confirm that I got the $10 off (EVERY MONTH) applied to my account via live chat very easily as per above comments (bringing it to $35 a month for 50GB plan plus the $200 gift card)

    • Same, got this exact offer by following those steps.

      • +1

  • In regards to the $10 monthly discount, I'm already on Telstra and will be porting out and back in so I can get this deal.

If the porting out and in happens within say a day or 2, would this affect the ability to get the $10 discount?

    Anybody else faced this situation?

    • I did it on the same day, they don't check.

  • Just had $10 off my monthly bill thanks to all of you here. I now get 55gb for $35 per month. Download speed of 108mbps better than my ADSL and I guess better than my NBN rolling out this month. I have been using my mobile data to run my home internet needs. Also buying cheap prepaid plans to top up as well. All good. No need to rely on expensive monthly NBN cost.

    • Can I have the transcript?

  • Thanks OP, my old Nexus 6P died last night after a new screen, backing cover and battery over the years. JB HiFi were super helpful, I could only come in late after work, they gave me the phone anyway despite it not being provisioned and told me to come in later to get phone + voucher, then they will refund the $200.

Also got the $10 discount making this a super awesome deal!

  • Is this deal still going?

    • +1

You could still get it as of yesterday

  • I'm struggling to get a chat rep to confirm a $10 credit. They all seem to run the same line that JB Hifi offer different plans as a 3rd party seller and they can't apply the credit to that. Or am I causing grief for myself by mentioning JB? I haven't signed up yet, I'm trying to get a chat transcript to lock the credit in before I go commit to the plan because it will ultimately determine whether I get the $45 or the $65 plan.

    • Me too, I didn't mention JB and they looked it up themselves and wouldn't give it. I am already on the 45$ pm plan now as well.

They kept insisting that it was JB that gave the deal and to check with them and that it was JB live chat not them…

  • Im also struggling to get the extra $10 credit.
Has anyone got any tips on how to get it for sure? Or got a chat transcript they are willing to share?

    • In the same boat. No luck getting the extra $10 off.

  • +1

I know this is old thread but I had some success recently on getting a pretty good deal. Thanks to all of you sharing your experience.

So here is the event timeline:

19/05: ported out to Optus (from Telstra prepaid), went to JB few hours later and signed up to $45 plan with $200 Gift card. Port in did not you go thru, order went to Error-provisioning. Complained the same day to Telstra but due to non-porting day, no resolution.

20/05: Called Telstra, got it sorted. Apparently Optus wasn't ready to release it. claiming BS that 'there is another port-out in progress'. anyway, sorted it out. Number ported into Telstra. Asked Telstra 4 or 5 times via live chat for $10 monthly port-in credit, no luck as everyone says its JB Hifi plan. (I think people before could get it easily as these JB plans use to be in Telstra system as 'Go mobile plans' rather than 'JB Hi-fi plans'. Also tried to upgrade plan to $59 (60gb with international calls) but no one on live chat agreed with giving $10 port in credit.

Eventually at around 7pm, Mary Joy (Live chat rep) agreed to upgrading to $59 (originally $69) plan + $10 port-in credit. Order submitted and successfully processed. So now I'm paying $49 and getting inclusions of $69 plan.

Happy to assist if any of you need transcript / photo of order etc. Please PM me.

    • Hey fifoo , positive news. I’ve PMd you.

    • hey mate, could you please share the chat transcript? Thanks

  • Looks like I wasted fair bit of time, should have judged waited a day. Same deal is now officially on Telstra website. Deal here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/458167

  • Thanks op! Just moved back to Telstra after 5 shitty months with Optus.
Also can confirm that port-in discount was applied successfully using Telstra live chat.

  • Got this done today at JB and talked with a rep Online for the $10 credit a month. Took about 15 mins overall.

Take this with a grain of salt but the rep mentioned the port in deal ends on the 24th June, not sure how believable it is.

They also mentioned that the $10 credit monthly is per ported sim and not per account

Including the JB giftcard it works out to be $220 for 12 months, pretty hard to beat with 50GBs a month

    • Do. You have a transcript of link?

  • I am not having any luck with Telstra on the $10 per month credit. They said that ended in january. Keep telling me to go back to JB for it.

  • Anyone got the transcript for any of the $10 Port in discounts? If you do please send it as I would love to purchase this plan with a guarantee i will get the $10 discount. Thanks

  • Just curious, are these plans not eligible for a second data sharing sim?

    • No, Telstra only provides data sharing for business customers now

      • oh that's a real shame :( This deal would have been perfect for my parents….. thanks for the info anyway

  • Just tried the Telstra $10 port in via chat. They spent a fair while trying/checking and then stated that it was "not working on their end" and that they did try to do it for me. They knew straight away it was a JB plan but tried anyway (if you believe waht they say). Pointed me towards JB Hifi to apply the port in discount.

  • I got the $10 port-in credit today on the first attempt. All I did was live chat them last week asking whether the port in credit exists, then chatted them today and referenced that chat and they gladly added the credit. They even apologised for not adding it sooner!

    • Alas I've had notes added to my account now referencing JB hifi

      • Shouldn't be a problem, when I look on my bill the actual plan is called JB Hifi 45 plan so they already know where you've come from

  • Anyone knows how long this deal is for? My plan end in 2 weeks and keen to port in to Telstra. Hopefully this deal is still on.

  • Just an update on this deal - after porting out from Telstra to Amaysim for 30 days I ported back for the $45/m 50gb deal + $200 gift card deal today 7/7/19 and then chatted to Telstra 15mins later and managed to score the $10 discount - although technically it has ceased the rep said due to me being a long term valued customer she was happy to apply it, after a bit of chat. :)

    • I just tried this, first chat rep said that the port in doesn't exist anymore. I am also a long term customer - also tried this line. Didn't work. Will probably need to try a few more chat reps.

    • So you went to JB HIFI to sign it up and chatted with Telstra guy online?

  • Anyone know when this expires?

  • If anyone is porting away from Telstra, Amaysim have a 30GB plan for $10 with code SAVE20.

Just found this now and went through the port out myself.
Will attempt to port back in via JB in a week.

    • +1

As a follow up - I completed the port to Amaysim on Friday, walked in to JB today (following Monday) and was able to port back with the gift card.
Then went on Telstra Livechat and asked for the $10 port in discount, which they applied.

      So $35 a month for 50GB + $200 gift card.

      Super happy.
Only annoying part was waiting a few days for Amaysim to post me a new SIM, and dealing with the terribly slow data loading on their network for a few days.

    • +1

I have just now switched to a monthly $50 plan coming out of a 2 year contract. If I were to port out, will I still need to pay $50 or do they bill me only till the day it was ported out? Any idea?
      Cheers

  • Just signed up and Telstra will honour the $10 port in discount

    • how? did you get confirmation before signing up?ported in? or new service?

      • Yes, I asked Telstra via chat before signing. Once I get my new SIM, they will apply it.

        • I was very specifically told that the port-in discount is no longer available. (via chat on Sunday). I have not signed up for this reason.
Please let us know if they honour the port-in discount to you.

          • @dreamkilla: They will.
I also had someone tell me they wouldn't , but someone else said they would. So they decided to honour it.

  • I've asked two reps who said no, but I will only join if they said yes!!!!!

    • same

  • +6

Just signed up to this Telstra deal in JB Hi Fi store today as a NEW sim with new number (not a port in) and then just now jumped on live chat and got them to give me a $10 credit per month forever until I recontract, the beauty is I did not even port in lol.

I have the transcript if anyone wants, I spoke to a lovely Karen.

So $35/pm for 50gb + $200 JB Gift Card. Noooot baaaaaaaad! Gooood siiiiize!

    • hi chief, please pm transcript. would be interested to replicate this. thanks

    • hey can i get a pm of the transcript as well.would like to try this too. thanks in advance

    • Can I please have the transcript also, thanks mate!

      • Another +1 for a transcript. Thanks.

    • Can you please send it through to me as well? Going jb the evening to sign up, would be a good bonus 👍

    • Yes please for transcript

  • +1

Can I please have the transcript also, thanks mate!

  • +2

I have just followed what others have done to get the $10 discount on the $45 plan from jb.

The rep said they cant give me the $10 per month discount but can add a $120 lumpsum credit to my account. I was happy with that.

    • Hi aliaz,
Can you please provide me some tips on how to achieve this. I signed up yesterday.

      Thanks
