Buy a $100 eBay Gift Card, Get 2000 Bonus Rewards Points (Worth $10) @ Woolworths » All Comments

  • Nice, will combine this with 10% off ebay offer

    • -13

I don’t think you can apply more than one code in your ebay cart.

      • +4

Pretty sure gift cards are exempt from this rule.

        • I tried to use the PMUM20 code on the weekend as well as a gift card that I'd previously purchased from ebay UK. Although both codes were accepted ebay prioritised the gift card (would have applied it first) so that the 20% discount was ineffective. This seems to be a change, as I'd been able to use discount codes plus gift card previously.

          • @andrew1879: hhmm. can anyone else comment? that definitely defeats the purpose.

          • +1

@andrew1879: Pretty sure you're mistaken. I just tried a test transaction using the current Myer discount code with some eBay gift cards already attached to my account. The 20% discount voucher code component remained the same regardless of whether gift card(s) were included in the transaction.

          • @andrew1879: I have just used PMUM20 and 15 GC successfully!

          • @andrew1879: "purchased from ebay UK" - I'd say that might be the issue?

      • Code no, gift card yes - up to about 10

    • At the same time you can redeem up to 7 gift cards + 1 promo code.

    • +21

Can confirm, I purchased 15 $100 cards in 5 transactions on same rewards card and got all 30000 ($150) points on the way plus 150 earn and learn stickers then redemmed all 15 gift card with ebay with a PMUM20 20% off voucher on a single $1800 purchase with $1 left on a single card.

      • +1

        Thanks! Very informative.

      • So 1 transaction max out to 3 giftcards?
Did you do self check out or through the normal humane register?

        • I was able to purchase 10x cards through self checkout, then the remaining 3 through the human system.

        • +8

I went through the front desk as I had to ask for more cards as the shelf was below 15. The manager came out to make sure it wasn't an ATO scam. He then commented, oh yeah I remember your from last time!

          • +5

@rabbit71: How thoughtful of the manager. :)

          • +1

@rabbit71: So you're the one who brodened all the gift cards and left others empty handed. Very greedy.

  • +1

How much that 2000 point worth in $ please?

    • +15

      $10

  • Nice move by EBay and Woolies

    • +20

We've gone from 20% site wide codes to 10% back in funny money …

      • There has never been an eBay 20% sitewide sale.

        • +3

You must forget you've upvoted this deal. 😉

          • @O O: Correct, that’s eBay UK. I’m referring to eBay AU.

        • +1

There was one 20% for the US site in the days when you could easily change your address, but none purely for the au site though as you say https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/383058

          • +2

@tryagain: plus the numerous $20 off $100 min spend sitewide deals that happened previously

  • How many card can be purchased Max to get bonus point ?

    • usually. one time for one Woolworth account

      • +8

I believe you mean Coles, Woolworths usually have a 10 card limit.

        • So maximum earn is 2000points x 10cards? In a single transaction 20,000 points earned?

        • Can anyone who purchased this deal please confirm if multiple purchases allow multiple lots of bonus points? Thanks.

          • @Going Broke: Multiple can be bought in 1 transaction to get multiple points

      • Last time I bought 8 Visa1 GC and had $40 back immediately. I cant find any limit per WW account, but I am sure it is more than once.

        • kendo, do you mean the $10 applies immediately, onto the transaction that you bought the gift card itself?

          • +3

@xrailgun: it tells you you have the points and dollars off NEXT txn. Cannot apply to same txn.

    • Not sure if this rule applies to this deal.

    • +1

Last time I bought 10 in one transaction, at a regular serviced checkout.

    • +2

For everyone looking at buying 10 cards, please read this comment by wyu.
TL;DR: There's a limit on how many cards you're allowed to use on eBay at once.
It would be pretty brutal to buy these for a big purchase and then discover you can't use them all!

  • +1

Pity I can't use e-gift cards at my local store anymore to buy these.

    • +2

      Who can?

      • It used to be fine to use the e-gift to pay for any gift card. At least I did it 2 or 3 years ago.

        • +1

As you said 2 or 3 years ago, i think they shop this last year

          • +1

@SnoozeAndLose: You dont appear to be able to get any giftcards using an egiftcard at Woolies now.

This is explained by Woolies as being an issue due to scams and they've implemented a ban on all purchases as a result.

This was being gradually rolled out across all their POS systems and I think that's now complete..

  • Can you buy gift cards on eBay with these?

    • +1

Don't think, I could be wrong

  • -1

Kiss Kiss Big 1 TA :)

    • Won't you love him long time 😂😂

  • +1

    Great deal thanks TA

  • +2

    Come on colesssss

  • +1

    Awesome deal, thanks TA :)

  • -3

Can be bought using egift cards?

    • +2

      No

  • Excuse my noobness, but do I need to be a Woolworths member to redeem the points?

Eg how do I actually use the $10 credit?

    • +4

Join wow rewards https://www.woolworthsrewards.com.au/ for free to redeem the points.
Buy one $100 GC at a time to collect the rewards $. First time you pay $100. Second time $90.00 for each GC you buy. or Buy 11th for free and still have $10 to spend on you groceries.

      • Can you use Woolworths rewards points on eBay gift cards ?

        • +1

sure you can. You earned it!!

          • -4

@ashikk: Actually you cant spend points on gc… You can only use $ off on items. My boss buys $100 grocerys and a $100gc when she has points.

      • -3

So walk up to the checkout with 1 giftcard.
Then walk back to the checkout and pay of No.2 giftcard with No.1 giftcard.
And keep on repeating until done 10x and you've ended up with 20000 points on your Woolie card worth $100?

        • +2

yeah. I prefer to use those points (dollars) for my groceries

          • @ashikk: Thanks. Will try this and not look suspicious at the same time!

            • +4

@bargainman000: you won't . Just go to self-serve, scan 10 GCs, scan your reward card, call the attendant to authorize the transaction, pay with your award credit card (if you have any) to get points towards your purchase (I get .75 points per dollar spent on my NAB CC) and get out of woolies!

              • +1

@ashikk: Thanks. I get 5% off Egiftcards at Woolies so don't think it's worth the hassle to spend so much money on my credit card to save $50.

                I would for 10% though (if I didn't already get 5% off)

                • @bargainman000: sorry, I didn't get what you mean 5% off eGCs at woolies.

For me, I put everything on my CC and pay at once on its due date. For groceries/petrol/liquor I use eGC bought from cash rewards or shopback with my NAB CC.

                • +1

@bargainman000: You can't pay by egift card for buying any gift cards.

              • @ashikk: He's talking about using $100 of GC, not $1000.

          • +2

@ashikk: For groceries, you could have used eGC.

For another eBay GC, you cannot use eGC but reward dollars. You make it worth $10 cash, not $9.5 in gorcery purchase.

            • @Neoika: I know..
that feeling when you get your groceries for free… (my average weekly groceries is about $100.00).

      • This doesn't make sense. How do you get your 11th card free when you are using up your $10 credit each time you buy one.

        • +1

          or Buy 11th for free

you save that $10 (2000) each time to buy the 11th one for free.

          • @ashikk: Still W$10 earned even the 11th is free.

            • +1

@Neoika: Can you please read my original comment again:(

          • -4

@ashikk: Cant use points on gc purchase.

            • +3

              @Seedy seed: Incorrect, again

            • +2

              @Seedy seed:

Cant use points on gc purchase.

              You certainly can!

            • @Seedy seed: You actually use the reward dollars you earned from collecting the points. So you are using points indirectly.

      • There is a link referring to 1500-1700 bonus points on signup. It is not hard to find here.

      • This would be good if you could use your $10/points towards another card purchase but you can't only to use for your shopping which is good also but would prefer to reduce these cards to be honest.

        • You can use the points/credit on another card purchase…

      • Is it capped at 2000 points per transaction?

I.e. Can I check out $500 of eBay gift cards in 1 transaction and get 5x2000=10,000 WW points?

  • Does Woolies charge a small fee (typically $5) for each gift card like Coles does with some of their gift cards?

    • +2

Don’t think ebay giftcards have a card fee.

    • +2

Usually visa gift cards have a fee on it.

    • +1

It’s not a coles fee. Ww also has same fee on those cards

    • +1

No. they dont charge the fee.

    • +1

      No they don't

      • Good to know. About to pull trigger for playpen with 20% code. I'll wait two more days then.

    • Only Visa/MasterCard and Eftpos/Westfield charge activation fee as I know it. Cause they’re really generic and can be use almost anywhere on any store. Ebay is considered as “1 store” I guess 😅

  • -6

Then use the 2000points to buy more eBay gift cards Genius.
Cashrewards have woolworths gift cards for 5% off buy $100woolworths gift card for $95 then buy eBay cards saving extra $5.

    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/woolworths-gift-cards#coupons

    • +4

From everything I've read, it seems that you can no longer use the WISH eGift cards to purchase gift cards in store.

    • That post gonna be long !!
If everyone crazy about 10% off ebay gift card, this is almost the same for those who shop Woolies like every week!

    • +8

You CANNOT buy Gift Cards with eGift Cards anymore.

      • +3

You can however by giftcards with points

        • -1

You cant buy ww giftcards with points for sure. Can you buy others?

            • -1

@Samsungnote10: Lol i gave the exact response the woolworths staff gave my boss when she tried, but you would know better then woolworths obviously.

              • @Seedy seed: "Lol"
dont believe everything you hear, especially supermarket managers and your boss
Its been posted here on this thread multiple times that it works

And yeah obviously.in this instance me and many others do know better than woolworhts store manager

                "Lol"

          • @Seedy seed: You can! I've done it before. Stop spamming the wrong info.

              • +2

@Seedy seed: CVonC is right. you can buy gift cards with points.

Buy ten $100 eBay gift cards (20000 points), buy one $100 eBay gift card with points (this will gain 2000 points too)

Edit: I have 2000 points to redeem, I'll use it tomorrow morning and I'll report back

                • +2

@snvl: it works. you can use the 20000 to buy another one.

  • Can we buy instore with this gift card ?

    • I think it is instore only.

      • +2

If and only if eBay has a physical store. 😄

  • -3

So no egift cards for gift cards, but how about gift card for gift card is different!

    • No

    • +4

Cannot believe the fact that you give advice when you have no idea whats going on

  • If I buy this in the same transaction as my groceries, does it mean that I also cannot use an egiftcard to pay for my groceries?

    • +5

Yes based on previous experience, the person at the checkout processed the gift card as a separate transaction so I could use the E gift card for groceries

    • +3

      correct.
      source: personally tried this before.

    • +1

Just say you want to pay separately

  • Thanks Tighty!

One of Ozbargains most valuable members!

  • Grr - woolies shelves already looking pretty bare for these gift cards and the deal hasn't even started yet. I wonder if people are hoarding them?

    • +1

Last time I went in and bought them the morning they went on sale. They sold out in store pretty quickly, but thankfully they did restock them before the week's end, as they are a standard item they stock.

  • +2

Never done one of these deals before, is it 2000 bonus points per gift card you buy? Or does it get capped

    • Previously it has been 10 max

    • Last time I bought 10 in one transaction

      • 10 limit per transaction AFAIK but no Limit on how many transaction you do.

      • Did you receive 10x 2,000 bonus points?

        • Yes.
Im so excited today see this deal (Answering almost every question:) ). I can see iphone XS Max 256Gb on my hand very soon bought with these GCs.

          • +1

@ashikk: How many ebay gift card can be used at checkout?

            • @berlindut: You mean at eBay checkout..? Not sure. used 9 x $100 which worked fine.

          • +3

@ashikk: Hey, just be aware that there is a limit on how many eBay cards you can use at once. The wording is pretty vague, though.
            https://pages2.ebay.com.au/ebay-gift-cards-terms-conditions

            • @Clearance Clarence: " … you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers)."

8 in a single transaction is good to know but 'and fewer' is a bit vague, perhaps it's based on the coupon percentage?

              • @Niczoom: Seems the eBay system only allows up to 8 codes to be entered, so if you've entered a promo code, this leaves 7 gift card codes that you can enter. Not sure if this is a recent change.

But also note the following comment by andrew1879:

"I tried to use the PMUM20 code on the weekend as well as a gift card that I'd previously purchased from ebay UK. Although both codes were accepted ebay prioritised the gift card (would have applied it first) so that the 20% discount was ineffective. This seems to be a change, as I'd been able to use discount codes plus gift card previously."

                Discussion here:
                https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/7243319/redir

                • @digitale: on three occassions I purchased 3 expensive items, and all three I got to 15 gift cards + 1 discount before it said maximum

and the $5k per month limit was never applied to mine

                  maybe I got lucky
but im going to assume the limit is 15 for me

                  • @Samsungnote10: Thanks for the info everyone, useful to know.

hellohello123, how recent was your purchase?

                    • +1

@Clearance Clarence: One of them was decemeber

                      • @Samsungnote10: Thanks.

Based on this comment it looks like the limit is still not being enforced by eBay. Appreciate the correction, and apologies for the confusion.

                        • +1

@Clearance Clarence: no need to apologise

                          that was my experience,
it could revert back to the terms and conditions at any time

there was a time when I had massive headaches with ebay gift cards

the t/cs say any balance is transferred to your account,
and guess what, it didnt and I threw the cards out

                          ebay support was useless

          • @ashikk: Take a look at this RT Edwards deal, might end up cheaper after price match.

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/455655

  • +3

Staff discount still gives you 5% of these

So like the previous virgin deal cards for $85.

  • Now to find something to buy on ebay…

  • +1

Is it online or in-store? Seems can't find eBay gift card on Woolworth online unless have to wait 2 more days.

    • +1

That’s what it says, in two days time.

    • +2

      normally in store only.

    • +2

      In-store only

      • thanks

    • Good question - I mucked around for 10 minutes trying to find an ebay card online that gave the points.

  • Staff discount still gives you 5% of these

Gearup do staff have limits ?

  • Is this the reason why eBay now don't give us 15/20% off site-wide.. as we are already getting 10% off buying their GC.

  • any expire date on the ebay gift card?

  • Anyone know the expiry?

  • Is it 2000 points per card or per transaction?

Or to rephrase that, if I want to buy 5 cards can I buy them all in one transaction and early 2000 x 5 = 10000 points for the transaction, or do I need to process them separately in 5 transactions earning 2000 points each time?

    • 1000 points for $50 too as it says valid on all denominations. You can buy up to $500 value with 10k bonus points in one transaction at self-checkout.

      • +1

It doesnt say $50. Better test one first

  • -5

Can anyone suggest the best place to hide 10 ebay gift cards within the store. I know all of us did that from time to time.

    • +6

      Underneath Turkish Delight chocolate.

      • I plan to hide them behind dog food, and maybe some inside the freezers just in case.

    • at the police next door, under the sergeants hat

    • +3

behind the toys r us gift cards

    • +2

      few suggestions:
      1. make friend with a checkout operator.
      2. inside a low selling magazine.
      3. put them behind Myer GCs.

  • +1

What’s the point of hiding those cards ?

  • Nice I can use this with coles online on eBay plus

    • +3

You essentially buy Coles GC in Woolies!

    • Is coles online eBay any good? I don’t get why one doesn’t just go to coles online…

  • +1

Buy 100 cards for upcoming iphone FoldX, save 1000 instantly.

    • +4

No more than a total of $2000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

      • +1

Alright I am selling kidney then

  • very nice, my ebay gc from last deal is almost finish. good time to restock more. 1k should be enough if you do not want to buy flagship phones nowadays. so if i buy one at a time. from the second card, every card will be $90 (if i choose to use those 2000 points automatic) right?

    • Provided the points are given immediately.

      • +1

I can confirm, it points are given right after activation. You can use the points right away.

        • I don't see the rush to use up the points if u shop at wollies regularly.

Not as if the points will disappear.
You would most likely use up the wollies points as credit before u use up Ebay GC

So no need to stress over doing multiple transactions at counter. The staff will hate u for it and flag u

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but - I can buy $1000 worth of these at 10% off and still use to purchase an item using a 10/15/20% off code on Ebay?
    So a double whammy?

    • +10

short answer yes, long answer yes.

      • +3

Your short answer was actually longer than the long one.

    • +5

No more than a total of $2000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

  • nice

  • Thanks op

  • +1

ultimate for her is also a good price which can be applied in David Jones.

  • Can you use promo codes when using these cards?

Do you have to use the full amount in one go?

    • +3

      Yes
      No

  • Call me naive, these ebay cards are just prepaid gift cards to use on anything on ebay?

    • +9

      Naive, correct

    • +1

Some excisions, can’t be used to buy any gift cards

  • Does the eBay GC have to be activated before use?

    • +1

Pretty sure the teller activates it.

      • Is it effective immediately or does it take 24 hours?

        • +1

The last time I bought some EBay gift cards I was able to use them the same day.

    • Cashier activates the cards
      Effective immediately

  • I've never used an eBay gift card before. How does it work?

    • You buy the card and redeem a code and the money is added like credit?
    • You don't have to spend it all in one transaction? I mean, if you buy something that's only $50, you can use the balance $50 on another product?
    • Do you have to specify which source of funds (PayPal or gift card) to use when paying for an item or does it choose the gift card first?
    • can a gift card be used with another offer (like 20% off tech)?
    • can you redeem multiple gift cards at once?
    • +6

      yes
      yes
      yes
      yes
      yes

      • YES! thanks!

  • Hi, can I buy $1000 worth of eBay GC in woolies in one go, and get 20000 rewards points ? Or is it limited to 1x$100 eBay GC per rewards card ?

    • +1

yes you can buy 10 GCs per transaction. no limit on transactions.

      • Will I get only 2000 points per transaction (even if I buy multiple gift cards) or 2000 points per gift card?

        • 1000 points per $50 so 10 x$100 GCs will give you 20000 points ($100)

  • -1

    Help me out here

I get 5% woolies employee discount
So if I buy one card I get it for $95 and then $10 via rewards point so if I buy 3 cards I can technically save $45 bucks right?

    • +2

Then share the wealth, sell them on the classified.

    • Yes

  • Can anyone confirm this earlier comment by andrew1879 (hidden as it's replying to a negatively voted post):

"I tried to use the PMUM20 code on the weekend as well as a gift card that I'd previously purchased from ebay UK. Although both codes were accepted ebay prioritised the gift card (would have applied it first) so that the 20% discount was ineffective. This seems to be a change, as I'd been able to use discount codes plus gift card previously."

If true, then this deal is not so good, at least for me, as the sellers I'm thinking of buying from frequently have 20% off.

    • last time i used it worked fine (1 month ago). use the ebay code first and then type your gift cards numbers.

      • May have been a recent change then (just in time for this woolworths deal :) ), as andrew1879 stated he/she used it a few days ago on the weekend.

        • “Yes, an eBay promotional code can also be used when redeeming an eBay gift card, subject to the terms and conditions of the promotion.”
          https://www.ebay.com.au/rpp/redeem-ebay-gift-cards

        • +1

I've just tried the same transaction again (PMUM20 + gift card). No problem this time, got the 20% discount. So looks like it was just a glitch for me and not an ebay policy change.

    • Isn't the ebay gift card like cash, it will be used on the balance of the remaining 80% price tag.

If one paid for the item with ebay gift card first, then applies the PMUM20 code, the PMUM20 would have no effect as the balance is 0 after fully paid by the ebay gift card.

      • That's how it should work, codes should be applied in the order entered, unless eBay changed the algorithm so that each code has a rank and is applied based on the rank.

  • Hoping it will be 20,000 points for 10 cards.
    Not just 1.

Will find out tomorrow and post here

    • -1

Just don't scratch the card refund them if they don't give points.

      • Can you refund gift cards?

        • No

      • My mistake, during checkout, I was waiting for the two cards to be activated. Once activated, they cannot be refunded.

  • Can one gift card be used with different eBay account?

    • No

    • No it cannot

  • No Bullion peeps!

There are limits on redeeming eBay Gift Cards, including time and spending threshold limits. Additionally, eBay Gift Cards may not be used to buy other eBay Gift Cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be "bullion" (for example, gold, silver, and other precious metals in the form of coins, bars, or ingots).

  • +2

So looks like if you want to stack this with the 10%, 15% and 20% coupons you're limited to actually buying $700 worth of gift cards because theres a limit of 8 codes per transaction on eBay? (7 x $100 card codes plus 1 x discount code)

(assuming you want to maximise value from this promo)

Should therefore buy 6 cards, get the points, then buy a seventh card and get instant $60 off. Makes it $640 for $700 in eBay gift cards (not quite 10% off!)

    • +1

its 10%off because you still have 2000 woolworths points (=$10) left to redeem

      • Oh yes, because you get another 2000 points for the seventh card purchase!

Is my math otherwise right re being limited to max spend of $700?

Im hoping to buy 7 of these cards and then buy an S10 Snapdragon version from mymobile_store (with 10% off) - should make it $880 after all the rigmarole

    • +4

Can confirm, I purchased 15 $100 cards in 5 transactions on same rewards card and got all 30000 ($150) points on the way plus 150 earn an dlear stickers then redemmed all 15 gift card with ebay with a PMUM20 20% off voucher on a single $1800 purchase with $1 left on a singlew card.

      • single $1800 purchase

So, You mean eBay let you use more than 7 GCs in one transaction with 20% off code !!

        • Yes 15 GC's and a 20% off code.

  • Can anyone confirm if Woolworths pricing change are effective from 00:01am each Wednesday or is it 6am/7am when most stores open. I usually can't get to WW early in mornings, so there is always no stock when I got later in the day, but I do have a 24-hour branch nearby.

    • The price doesn't update yet at Woollie online at the moment (1am). But it's not about the pricing, it about will the Woolworths reward counts from 8 May 19 12am sharp. 😊

      • so I have to buy after tomorrow 12am?

        • No, I mean if the deal is started 8 May 19, the Woolworths reward should counts your purchase if you purchase from that moment on. If not, you should be able to claim the reward point back through customer service.

      • Where are you seeing the product on the website? I've been to their gift cards page and also typed in ebay or webjet and get no results.

    • Did you get your cards this morning? Did you get your points?

  • +4

Purchased 10 cards this morning and received 20000 points

    • Good on ya. In a single transaction?

      • Yes, single transaction

  • All worked as expected, you can use points to buy ebay gift cards.

I had to buy $50s, someone hide the $100 at my local :(

    • Which store?

      • Kellyville village

    • It really shows personality for a matter of $100.

    • $50s are also 2000 points each?

      • 1000

        • yeah just read your reply below actually! cheers

  • $50's a bit of a pain in a$$ with 8 / $400 permitted a purchase .

  • can you buy gift cards at self serve or is that only at coles?

    • Yes

    • you can buy at self service, but you can only redeem $10 (2000 points).

  • Worked as advertised… Got 6 cards, and $60 credit popped up on checkout screen

  • Can anyone confirm if
You will get 20,000 points for below purchase is done in 1 transaction :
    10x $50 GC, total $500, or
    10x$100 GB, total $1,000
    ?

(And nothing stops to repeat the purchase to get additional points)

    • GB???????????????

    • +2

      10 x $50 = 10000 points
      10 x $100 = 20000 points

Maximum 10 GC per transaction. You can do unlimited times

  • Thanks for posting this deal OP (:

  • +7

Went though normal checkout, not self service. Purchased 9 x $100 cards, paid, got points. Then purchased 1 x $100 card using the points + $10 cash. Have a balance of 2000 points remaining.

    • +3

      Exactly what I did :)

  • +1

    Hi ozbargain veterans,

Question: how many ebay gift cards can i use in 1 go eg can i use 10 cards to buy a $1000 item?

Also can i stack a coupon with it eg the current 10% off psyche coupon with say 10 gift cards to buy an item worth $1100 before discount?

    Thanks

    • This has already been answered, check the comments

      • One person said no but another said yes when they tried a month ago. It would be nice if someone who bought one this morning can test it out.

        • Can multiple in 1 transaction and receive multiple points

          Someone said above

  • Plenty of $100 cards still left at Collins Square Woolworths a.k.a Woolworths Metro Docklands.

    • Does it work at Metro stores?

      • Yes, I got two myself and got the points =)

  • +6

I can confirm combining the gift cards deal with PMUM20 works :)
Used 3x $100 gift card combined with the promo code and it all stacked up nicely ;)

    • Thanks i wished someone answered my question with your comment. Exactly what i wanted to know

  • The resale value of wish gift cards is generally higher than ebay GC… just fyi

  • Clearly I'm an idiot but no link I can see opens any option to buy these vouchers just images. Also the only one I did find was for NEW shoppers only?

    • Needs to be purchased in store, not sure if they can be bought from woolies online.

  • +2

got 10 x $50, first time they were in stock when on sale.
All 100s gone at Town Hall

    • Wow, you can still get 2000 points for 2x $50?

      • +4

        Yes 1000 points per $50

        • Cool, didn't realise you could buy $50 cards. I assumed it was only $100.

          • @eswes: yeah i didnt know either, it doesnt say at woolies but many people have done it and confirmed they got the points.

  • Just bought $1000 in 1 transactions got 20000 points and 100 earn and learn ticket

  • -3

why is everyone going mad over this? You can get ebay gift cards typically at 15% off during promos

    • I guess it's because there are some ebay 20% off promo codes available at the moment which allow you to use the gift cards straight away without "freezing" the money on them? :)

    • +2

I guess the typical 15% off promotion via eBay UK doesn't come as often as Ozbargainers wish for.

    • Why wouldn't you ?

  • Sydney property here we go!!

  • +3

Just did this at two different woolies stores:
    Bought 10 X $100 eBay gift cards
Redeemed 2 X $50 eBay gift cards for free

Don't redeem for $100 cards… leave them for other bargainers!!

    • wow, you still got points for the extra 2 you bought?
I thought it was a 10 card limit?

      • -1

What? I think we got some wires crossed here.
        Transaction 1: I bought 10x $100 cards for $1000, which gave me $100 credit.
        Transaction 2: I bought 2x $50 cards, using my $100 credit.

Then I changed stores and repeated the process.

If there is a limit, it must be a 10 card limit per transaction.

PS: For the salty downvoter(s), store 1 had another 10 cards on the shelf and store 2 had another 14 on the shelf when I left. I could have cleaned out the first store, but I didn't.

        • How did you get to use the woolies credit for your 2 x $50? I tried two stores no go. They told me you can’t use it on gift card?

          • @cloudie9: I took all the cards, then walked up to the teller. Showed them this page, and the picture.

Then I said I'd like to buy these ten in one transaction and then these other two in the second transaction please using the credit earned from the first transaction.

            Ok… And we did it.

Second place actually asked me if I was buying them at someone's request, just to protect me from getting gift card scammed. Good ppl.

            • @So lo: So I am getting conflicting info. Anyway, did you tap your everyday rewards physical card or apple watch? Out of curiosity.

              • +1

@cloudie9: I used Google Pay to effectively "pay wave" my everyday rewards card. NFC I guess?

  • Woolworths enex 100 Perth all gone, at the shelf which it should be. I am at the store at 8am. Wish those who bought all the gift cards yesterday got the rewards point. Unless there is something else happened behind the scene.

    • +1

I manage to get 2 at 8:05 am at Southland and I saw someone run in and get more than 10 at self-checkout next to me. I thought it is capped at 20000 points ($100).

      • In one transaction.

        • He was putting them one by one with a stack next to him.

          • @fatice: Was there any $100 ones left when you bought yours?

  • Forrest chase all gone. Come on, really needed to be so selfish?

    • It's not gone…..its hidden somewhere….search the store

      • +1

        Need detective pikachu

    • +1

Try Blackburn North Square which isn't far from forest Hill chase. There were heaps of $50 and 10 or so $100 at 8am this morning

      • +1

Forrest Chase is in Perth, different to Forest Hill Chase in Vic. ;)

  • Anyone tried buying more than $1k in separate transactions?

    • Try not to do it, leave some for others. Having said that, I only have 2x100 and if I can, I would get 1k.

      • +1

Yeah, let's tell Apple to stop making iPhones because they've made billions in profit and they're being greedy with the money. We live in a capitalist country mate.

    • +1

Yes, was able to buy $1000 + $300 in 2 transactions. Total cost was $1200, and then I still have an extra $20 rewards points for next purchase.

  • +2

    Lidcombe center NSW and
Auburn centre NSW $100 GC all gone.

  • +1

Bought 10 from West Pennant Hills
A lot are available if you are intereted

  • +1

    Thanks op.

Dozens of both amounts left at Kenmore QLD

  • +3

Just bought 10 gift cards in two transactions from Woolies Ingleburn :)

    1st Transaction : 9 gift cards
    2nd Transaction : 1 gift card. Paid using the $90(rewards points) + $10 cash :D

    • So using this method, for $600 worth of eBay cards I should buy:

      1st Transaction: 5 gift cards
2nd Transaction: 1 gift card, use $50 from transaction 1, then pay extra $50 cash?

      • Yes :)

  • About 14x $100 left at north kellyville woolies

Lady was saying there was a 5 card limit per transaction when it is clearly 10.

Wasn't too big of a deal, just did two 5x100 transactions and a third 1x100 redeemed with points.

    • Thanks. They added more, ~25 left

      • how many did they let you do in one transaction?

        • +1

same as you. 5 only and it has to be in the information desk (weird). Thanks again, Kellyville village didn't have the $100

  • +4

Best method is to buy all with no points used all . Guarantees 10% back in points each card purchases and end results is squillions of pts to figure out best use latter . Another advantage is CC pts maximized as well . Don't forget to get your school charity stickers .

Eg method above buying 9 X $100 is only getting $90 in pts when could be getting $100 in pts with 10 X $100 .

    • +3

As mentioned above, the last card will have 2000 points in the card. That is $90 + 2000 pts ($10) = $100.

    • I got additional 2000 points (10$) in my rewards card :/

  • Just got back from woolworths at parramatta westfield - there are still $100 & $50 ebay cards

  • How can I confirm it applies to my account? Cannot see this offer in wws rewards Offers section

    • In catalogue, not targeted offer which requires activation in your account

    • +1

if you're at self checkout, it gives you a pop up saying you've successfully received the points/offer. This is before payment so you can always make sure before paying.

  • I easily can spend $1,000 on eBay, great deal.

I'm waiting for my new credit card anyday now, so hoping this deal lasts!

  • +12

Can confirm, I purchased 15 $100 cards in 5 transactions on same rewards card and got all 30000 ($150) points on the way plus 150 earn an dlear stickers then redemmed all 15 gift card with ebay with a PMUM20 20% off voucher on a single $1800 purchase with $1 left on a singlew card.

    • how do you confirm you got the points (so soon)?

      • Says on your woolies receipt that you got xxxxxx points in this shop

      • The points are credited instantly.

      • if you're at self check out, it shows you on the screen after you scan your everyday rewards and the assistant logs in.

    • Did you manage to use more than 8 cards? Terms and conditions say you can use no more than 8 including any discount codes.

      • +3

        In one transaction I used 15 x $100 cards plus a coupon

  • guys, double check that the card gets activated. one of mine had 'activation was not successful'. I got a refund for that one.

    • Does the receipt show "activation was successful" if successful? In my case, the lady at the counter just scanned the gift card and handed it to me. I asked her if activation was required but she said no.

      • You get the normal receipt for purchase and one small receipt for the activation. It says activation was succesful

        • Thank you! I think I lost the small one though :( Guess I'll find it out later on anyway.

    • Did your actual mini docket say fail/unsuccessful,
Or the lady at counter told you when they see it on their screen?

      • both, docket say unsuccessful and lady pick it up too.

Edit: you will need the unsuccessful receipt to get refunded (coz I needed to go to the information desk for it)

    • Same thing happened to me and I got a refund too. Not sure how but I got to keep the points!

  • All gone from Hornsby rofl

    • I tried there too, next stop was Cherrybrook which was a winner. They have around 20 left by the looks of it.

      • thornleigh probs a bust

  • Was pleased to find that my local woolies still had a fair amount of $100 & $50 ebay cards.

Purchased 5x$100 and redeemed points for 1x$50 card.

  • What people gonna buy in ebay when you purchased thousand of $ ebay gc?

    • +2

Anything you want from what’s on sale at eBay!! Simple 😊

    • Galaxy s10e… $763.45 after 15% off and 10% gift card stack.

  • Funny I tried to pay with the $50 earn off 5 x $100 gift card and it wouldn’t let me use the woolworths credit to pay the $50 card. Anyone having issues ?

    • +4

Maybe you need to upvote first? :)

      • I saw a post on this deal saying putting a $10 cash towards the transaction but how you do that? I went to two woolies and all I’ve been told is you can’t use the woolies credit towards gift card?

        • Self-checkout works. Woolies might soon disable that function.

          • @fatice: I think it is disabled. Tried two woolies not working. All well, at least I have some credit for next grocery shopping.

        • +1

I just purchased at a register, not self check out. And was able to use credit immediately for more gift cards.

I just bought x10 $50 cards in one transaction which gave me 10,000 reward points (=$50).

Then immediately purchased another x10 $50 cards in another transaction. The reward points were applied and I only paid $450.

This transaction earned me another 10,000 reward points (=$50) which I will use in a future purchase.

          • @Miyagi: I will try again tomorrow, at different woolies store.

  • What's the expiry after activation? 12 months or 3 years?

    • +2

      3 years

  • Hi,
where can we purchase ebay cards?

I cannot see on their online store.

    • In store only

  • +3

Bought what I need in 3 transactions
Bonus points applied on the spot
Points used on the next transaction 1 minute later
    Max 10 per trans

Each Woolworths store manager has their own rules as to the max
However The system allows 10 max at a time

    Thanks ebay/woolworths

      • Yeah 1000 points as shown in the picture from the OP

        • Plenty of $50 cards available in Parramatta Westfield WW. Over 50 I’d say. Make sure to look near the assisted checkouts. Most assisted checkouts have GC racks near the bottom where you leave out the shopping baskets.

  • None in berala NSW.

Edit: no $100 cards. There are some $50 cards. I thought $50 won't work.

    • +1

$50 cards work fine, just get 1000 points instead (I bought 1x$100 and 1x$50 and received 3000 points)

      • are you absolutely sure?

the t/cs dont say that so im very surprised

so those that have missed out on the $100 cards could just buy the $50s

        • Yep, positive, I asked cashier to tell me points before purchase, receipt also said 3000.

  • Still a lot $100 GC at Woolworths Metro(Pitt St)

  • got 10 x $50 cards after some searching, shows up as $50 off your next shop in woolworths money app so thats how you know it works.

    • Should have said $100 off if you bought all 10 cards in one transaction.

      • 10 x $50 = $500 maybe?

        • Oh yes My mistake. He bought $50 cards and not $100.

  • Do eBay gift cards have expiry dates?

  • Sold out in Doncaster Vic

  • Does it work with $50 GC? My Woolies only has 4x50 left.

    • yes

    • Yes, according to multiple posts above

    • -1

Thanks. Sorry don't have time to read as I'm in the shop right now in the search for cards

  • Miranda Westfield Woolies has about 50pcs $100 left and more $50 cards.

I got 20 $100 cards. Paid $900 first got $90 rewards, then 9 more cards and used rewards so paid $810, then 2 more cards and paid $110. $2000 cards for $1820 and $20 rewards money left.

Now the wait game begins (Bing Lee or TGG 20% off). Nothing fancy or fun, our oven just broke :(

    • +1

      master!

    • How do your check out with your Woolworths credit? I tried but wouldn’t work. I even did it at self check out and when it prompted the screen to use Woolworths credit and at check out still show full amount of the gift card to pay.

      • Have you bought any? You buy first then get the credit

        • Yes I have purchased them and have the $50 dollar everyday rewards credit in my account. Odd thing when I check out, it says "Do you wish to use woolworths credit" I said yes, then next check out, asked me to pay $50 for the $50 gift card. Spoke to the store manager they say not applicable for gift card purchase. Two stores gave me the same answer. This is for the self check out as well. Really confused at the moment with all people with great success using their everyday reward credit.

          • @cloudie9: And just to be clear, you are buying an ebay gift card with your credit

            • @snvl: Purchased 5 x $100 ebay gift card. Earned 10,000 points = $50 credit. Tried to check out another 1 x $50 eBay gift card, at the final check out, it asked me to confirm using Woolworths rewards $50 credit, I pressed "yes" then at the final checkout, it prompts me payment option, I can only select card, this at self check out kiosk, then next final step, it asked me to pay $50, Woolworths credit wasn't applied.

              • @cloudie9: I know this issue. In the situation when the owing amount is less than 10c(maybe) or 0 after rewards redemption on giftcard purchase, the system refuses to take rewards. You just need to buy one small thing to get around or use it to buy a $100 one.

                • @Neoika: I did try purchasing 3 packs of vege chips, $3.80 each, so total is $61.40. Still wouldn't let me check out.

      • I tried first with self service but once the lady came and saw the stack with my hand she said I should move to a cashier.

After the cashier scanned the 2nd batch of 9 cards she asked if I wanted to use the credit, so I said if I can yes please and it worked fine.

I would have been equally happy to use a $10 credit each time I shopped at Woolies for groceries for coming few months, but this way worked better.

Have no idea why it wouldn't work for others. Perhaps it does not work at self service cashier, or the human cashier tries to follow "the rules" :P

        • I will try the cashier tomorrow then. But then again, two stores have flatly say that I couldn't use credit for eBay Gift card.

          • @cloudie9: Don't ask for it at first, when the time comes to pay, ask if the cashier could apply the credit before payment. They have that option at the register for sure.

          • @cloudie9: Look, i think its one of those things that its the managers discretion.

I can guarantee it is possible, but whether they want to

Either buy another lot some where else to apply the credit,
Come back a few hours later when that manager is off

Or as someone suggested it, just tell them to apply it and don't ask or wait to be asked

        • Out of curiosity, did you guys use a physical everyday rewards or Apple wallet version?

          • @cloudie9: I used my physical rewards card.

          • @cloudie9: cloudie9 Physical gift card for me. Paid $200 for 2x $100 cards on single transaction earning 4000 points and $80 for 1x $100 card on second transaction with another 2000 points on WW reward card via self check out.

            • @F1ngolf: Cool beans, I'll try a value bigger than $50 then.

              • +1

@cloudie9: Hope it works for you tomorrow.

                • @F1ngolf: Tried this morning and it works ! On a 1 x $100 eBay gift Card. I tried the register check out. At first the cashier says it won’t work but then I said let’s try it and it popped on the screen and there it goes… happy days.

                  • @cloudie9: Wonderful and good on you. In numerous occasions, I find that staff at Woolies and Coles do not have a clue on the gift card promo details including T&C. It happened last week on the Coles pre-paid mastercard and recent Boost prepaid mobile plan. I just have to request them to give a go and lo and behold, they would tell me that they learned something new for the day.:) Ozbargain is such a great community to learn what works and won't work.

  • Thanks OP, picked up 5 from Elizabeth South. Plenty 100s & 50s left.

  • No $100 left in Oakleigh 3166. I got x20 $50 instead, confirmed rewards. Still about 20 left.
    Rewards credit is received immediately.

    • Huh really the $50 give you 2000points?

Edit: read the other comments that it gives 1000points

      • Gives 1000 points ($5)

  • $100 ones sold out at Chadstone, although there were a few $50 ones left. Bought that last 5 $100 ones at The Links, again a few $50 ones left.

  • +3

Try the dead stores. Mine had about 50 100s.

  • Nothing left in Top Ryde NSW, there are few $100 in West Ryde NSW

I know it is hard in practice. But, can you buy 5% off physical woolworth gift card (not egift card) via cashrewards and purchase the ebay gift card in Woolworth store?

    • Can't use gift cards to buy other gift cards.

  • Bought $200 today but need more, is it limited to one transaction or unlimited? I can buy again in same store?

    • Who would stop you?

    • You can, I bought 2 lots of 5 at the same store but have read some store managers might not accept it.

  • Just picked up 10 $100 ebay cards from woollies in docklands (merchant St). There was literally about 100 more $100 cards on the shelf so head there if you need some!

    • I just picked up x20 $100 cards from Merchant St Docklands also. Still about 50 $100 cards left and probably 100+ $50 cards remaining. Note if going through self checkout, you will need a team member at the end to verify and complete transaction for you.

  • A few questions, hopefully someone can help.

    1) Why can't I add my woolworths reward card to google pay ? Using galaxy s6 edge. Don't have a physical card but managed to log into my account.

    2) Can I buy the gift cards using my credit card ?

    3) Whats the best way to buy $750 worth of gift cards?

soz been on ozbargain a while but i'm a newb when it comes to this stuff.

    Thanks

    • 1) You can; go Google it. There’s a link that you need to click on when you’re logged in I believe

      2) Yes; what kind of question is that? It’s Woolies …

Can’t answer your third question though; sorry

      • 2) oops I got confused with buying Wish Gift Cards with CC. My confusion comes from an article I read a while back on manufactured spending for CC points

  • Town Hall store NSW has been restocked with $100 cards for anyone interested . Just grabbed a few.

  • 2) Can I buy the gift cards using my credit card ? Y

    3) Whats the best way to buy $750 worth of gift cards? Buy 7 X $100 's and 1 X $50 as give option to use up to 8 cards in one transaction when purchasing on Ebay .

    • Thank-you, would that mean $20 will remain on my card which I can use on groceries ?

      • PAOK11
Could be better to buy 6 x $100 and 1 x $50 in single transaction (pay $650) to get 13000 bonus points AND 1 x $100 in another transaction and redeem 12000 points to offset $60 during payment and pay $40 balance with 1000 bonus balance on your WW reward card.

    • +2

Note that I used 10 cards and the TECHY coupon code when buying my S10 this morning so it looks like eBay aren't enforcing the 8 card maximum at the moment.

  • Woolworths Penrith has a couple dozen of each 50 and 100.

I would like to ask as for year any deals like this would never work but if you purchase cards and gain your points which turn into $ how did you use them to buy other cards. As i have never been able to use the credit with purchase of cards yes food etc but not cards.

    • I agree.

    • I purchased 5 cards and did them separately. The WR $ are earned automatically.

I already had a pending $10 on my card, so when I purchased my first card, I used that to gain 410 off for a price of $90. The next card used the $10 rewards from the previous transaction so discount, and so on.

    • +2

      it was hard reading this

  • Heaps of $100 and $50 cards left at Karrinyup, WA. The self-checkout lady was a little unhappy when I tried to do 5 separate transactions for each card, but let me do it.

    • oh the trick is to process each gift card separately. thanks

  • Woolworths mount druitt has lots of both 50 and 100

The bonus points didn't appear on my card (I tapped Google pay to link it to the transaction). Apparently, it's been happening to a number of people at my local Woolies store. They pulled out some notes they'd written up earlier, told me which number to call and said they'd help me sort out the error.

I called rewards support, which has ended up being really unpleasant and a waste of my time. They couldn't find the deal (at first). They finally found it (after keeping me on hold for 20 minutes) then tried to tell me I wasn't eligible for the points because the card I bought was apparently a different colour to the one in the advertising picture!

I cleared that up, but was then questioned at length about whether I was sure I'd added my rewards card to the transaction (because it wasn't showing against my account activity i.e. the reason I'd called support in the first place!).

It irks me when large companies try to squirm out of coughing up legitimate claims for no good reason. If I was given a genuine reason why I wasn't eligible (e.g. some small print I hadn't read), I'd happily wear it and move on. It seemed to me like their automatic reaction was to start grasping at straws to find a way not to credit the points. Perhaps they get a lot of people calling up with rubbish claims trying to screw some points out of them and it's just become their standard way of dealing with people.

I'd like to send them a photo of the in-store signage for this deal to help clear it up but won't be able to get in till much later tonight. I don't suppose anyone snapped a photo of it whilst making their purchase, did they? I'd really appreciate anyone who did getting in touch.

I'll keep everyone posted on how I go getting this sorted out. Please share if you've had a similar experience!

    • Sorry to hear about your troubles. If it helps, have a look at the catalogue. It states eligibility is for "ANY DENOMINATION OF THE CARDS PICTURED".

      • Unless the store had a very old gift card.

    • gee, your post has put me off trying this myself. I think i'll give it a miss after all

      • To date, there are 5 pages full of comments from happy ozbargainers who have successfully purchased….. your decision is based on this one only?

        • It's set up to be difficult. The discount should be applied when you scan the ebay git card >end<. What I actually meant was i'm not going to use a temporary card or google pay. I'll wait until I get a physical card in the mail, if the deal is still available

          • @PAOK11: I use sto card and no problem encountered.

          • @PAOK11: There are temporary paper membership cards at the checkout, sign up on the spot and use the temporary card.

    • Same thing when they went promotion for the $100 eftpos card but they had the old card(with $5.95 fee instad of $6.95) even had the banner on top saying 2000 points. Spoke to CS they said black luck then i raise complaint to FT for misreading. At the end they give me the point as good will

    • is the rewards card and your credit card both on your phone? is it possible that the woolworths terminal took the payment before your reward card scanned? I always use my physical reward card to make sure it scans.

    • is your gift card blue and yellow? if so then it is an out of date gift card , it should say 2 years expiry.

      • What was the outcome for you? How did you go?

Mine are yellow with blue writing and a 3 year expiry. Does this mean they are out of date and not eligible?

Also read the FAQ on the woolworths rewards site which said that points resulting from promotions cannot be added by going through CS on 1300 101 234. Is this true?

        • The old one is mostly blue little yellow.

Also read the FAQ on the woolworths rewards site which said that points resulting from promotions cannot be added by going through CS on 1300 101 234. Is this true?

Yes it is true they normally dont do it evern you ask for manager, if you can call them one more time and tell them that you are recording the call(install a phone recording app), then ask them again nicely, told them if they refuses then you will need to go to Fair trading.

I raise a complaint to Fair Trading then specially resolution team gave me all points as good will.

Waverley Gardens, VIC still had about 20 of them.
Brought 11 and checkout chick did 10 all in one transaction then did a separate for the 11th one which I applied the credits on making it $0.

  • I just bought a couple at Port Augusta, I went through the self serve and I did separate purchases for them so I could get multiple fuel vouchers… When I scanned the first one the assistant came over to make sure it activated ok, no issues, and then she helped me with the second purchase and she used the $10 credit from the first to buy the second… I'm tempted to go back in and grab more, lol…

    • Ahh, didn't think to get multiple fuel vouchers but then again don't need that many. My local school will be happy with the 110 earn and learn stickers i got them lol…

Worked as a charm with Woolies employee discount

Bought 6 x $50 which came down to $285 on the Self-Checkout and also got $30 worth of points

Bought 1 more using the points and the price came down to 17.50 after employee discount and gained $5 worth of points

Overall bought gc worth $350 actual spend $297.50

    • Does the employee discount work on gift cards as well? I thought they were excluded.

      • at coles they are rofl, feels bad

      • +1

        Worked for me

      • I didn't get a discount around 6-9 months ago on some gift cards I bought, but the discount worked on Kogan cards around a month ago and also worked for the ebay cards, so they might have changed the policy again.

  • Does this work if you buy 2x$50 cards?

    • +1

Yes. You will receive 2000 Woolworths rewards points for 2x$50 cards which is equal to $10 off your next purchase.

      • Thanks. There were tons of $50 cards left. I guess the max rewards are lower as you can get only 10 x $50 cards= $500value.
        10,000 pts

      • The ad only shows the $100 gift card though? Would the $50 work??? It isnt advertised…

        • We walk the walk, and you keep talk the talk! 😏

        • Yes $50=1000pts

  • +2

No issue here. All worked out well. Store had 9 left of which I took 8.
They knew exactly why I was purchasing the cards as they knew of the deal.
Was recommended not to go through self serve. Apparently if the card does not activate, it is voided and can not be sold again. Took all through the old service register and sent each through individually for the extra fuel vouchers. Receipts continued to show the rewards value adding up with the $10 per transaction.
South Melbourne are getting 500 more $100 E-Bay gift cards in the next few days.

Thanks for the bargain. Now to buy on E-Bay through the Qantas E-Bay link for extra FF points.

    • how many car you need to be filled in 4 weeks?

      • Two cars. One filled once a week the other every second. Vouchers last what.. 4 weeks? Given I don't often go to woolies (Coles is closer) it worked out for me to get the extra fuel vouchers. Always fill up at Caltex as you earn Qantas FF rewards. Well, I've been using Caltex from before the FF days.

        • I believe you can't as their T&Cs read as below

"Qantas Points will not be earned on tax and delivery charges, gift cards or orders redeemed with a gift card, purchases that include any voucher, coupon or discount code that is not sourced from the Online Mall platform."

  • Ok, So purchased some ebay gift cards, went to check out an item and the code says "This code can't be applied to your order". Checked the balance and confirmed $100…

Called customer support and they've said…

GIFT CARDS CANNOT BE USED ON CAR AND TRUCK PARTS!!!!

They are sending me an email to put it in writing, first thing tomorrow morning i am calling the ACCC.

Anyone else been able to use them on car parts?

    • car and truck seems to be excluded from everything discount related

    • Weird. I haven't tried but I consider myself schooled now. I was considering using my cards to buy a dashcam… I guess that would come under this restriction too?

    • +2

I've use gift cards on car parts in the past without any issues…That's really dodgy if they've changed it recently, there's no mention of car parts being excluded on the cards or in the T&C…

    • Worked recently on car parts. There was a promotion for eBay plus membership, and that's when they specifically excluded car parts with that particular gift card they were giving away at the time.

  • +1

For people stlll purchasing suggest you go through the normal check outs rather than self serve wherever possible. I spent 20 mins trying to get a staff member to process the rewards discount which for some reason was picked up but not applied to the final price . Eventually it had to be processed at the attended one . maybe its just me :( . Thanks OP for the post - managed to get 20 x $100 over 4 transactions with all points redeemed.

  • +3

Used 15 cards in conjunction with PSYCHED code for $1700 off my laptop purchase.
Won't allow me to go past 15 cards stating "looks like you've used alot of gift cards lately, you will be able to use giftcards again in a few days".

    • Good to know! Have read somewhere max 8 GC can be redeemed in single transaction. So apparently that's not the case. Thanks

      • Had read the same in one of these threads.
Having never used the giftcards on eBay before I'm not sure if 15 is the actual magic number or if it's just my account that triggered the stop at 15. Either way - better than nothing :)

    • Which laptop did you purchase?

      • latest Spectre X360

        • Oh, you meant $170 off? Not $1700.

All the locals are out which normally arent the case so ive given up. Thought the promo was ok as usually i can get some at the local stores but obvs someones snapped em all up. Did grab 10% off uber gc at least.

can anyone explain how whole thing works?

  • Does it work in tassie? Anyone knows?

    • no, I tried, they don't use this rewards in tas.
in tas it's frequent shopper card.
      in mainland it's woolworths reward.

      • Ah, so sadly :(

      • Wow, didn't know this. Haven't been to TAS yet

  • Went to Lakemba NSW to pyrchase a few. I got the last set of $100. I got 11 exactly (but 15 minutes before I went I rang and they had 75) I was told someone came in and bought all the other ones before I got there. Wow!

  • Remember paying solely with eBay gift cards means you don't get PayPal buyer protection. I'm not sure however if you make a partial payment with PayPal you'll get protection on the full purchase amount.

    • you still can add your paypal even you pay fully with gift card

    • Isn't the ebay gift cards are issued by paypal?

  • bought webjet 26x$100 gift card from 3 different locations, 10 card limit for 1 transaction, I did not do another transaction in one shop, because staff look at me like I am a scammer.

ebay gif cards are all gone……..

pay my gift cards with The American Express® Platinum Edge Credit Card, Earn 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major supermarkets and petrol stations. it's about 200 points for 1 dollar.

    • 200 points for $1 if you buy $1000 then 200,000 points?

  • I wonder if wollies will restock these Ebay gift cards onto the shelves.

    • They did last time, right at the end of the sale week

  • Has anyone seen anything official stating that you can do 10x$100 transactions multiple times? I've seen people say they did 2x transactions each with 10x$100 cards with success.

I'm looking to purchase 100+ if I can find stock, so want to make sure I'm covered from a T&C perspective if things don't work out, but I can't find any information.

    • Wellcome to do that and resell it on classified for members like me who can only find 2x100 in WA. I might need to get it from the classified forum @ 5% off when I need to buy something on eBay.

      • I don't want to resell. I buy a lot on eBay so just looking to minimise my costs. My local store is holding 40 for me now but I'll see if more stock is on the way.

      • +1

I encourage Broden to do that ….
At least it will end up on classified at at least 5% off for less frequent shoppers.

      • I wouldn't mind reselling any unused on the classifieds but problem is not being able to get it for cash first… hard as they wont want to part with cash first… but neither as a seller would you want to .

    • +1

An update for those curious. I bought 65 cards today and the receipt showed all points being credited.

An interesting thing is the cashier appears to have a limit per transaction of 10 cards or $1000, whichever is hit first. I'm told a store manager can override this and the points will still credit, but my local one wasn't available.

Also if you do this be prepared for your bank to assume you're being scammed and block your card :-)

      • Being told if you buy $1000 or more need to supply the ABN,but i brought $1000 another one didnt ask, the receipt do have empty business information there

  • Jeez, none left at woolworths stores around my place.

  • Did a lap of Melbourne CBD and couldn't find a single Metro (Flinders, Sthn Cross or Swanston) that have any of these. QV do, but the $100 cards are hidden and you have to ask at the counter for them. I assume they are rationing them? $50s are on the rack but there's only a single rack and it looks like it's down to around 20 of them so I don't give them long. Gone out with a fizzle, this promo has.

  • Anyway of checking the points balance ?
And where and when and how much points is redeemed?

  • Heaps at Sydney Town hall CBD.

    • Ground floor? it was empty when I was there 1pm

      • mm i was there at lunchtime. ground and train level were empty

        • There's a lot on the ground floor at the moment.

  • am surprised why every shop ive been to still has heaps of $50,

    obviously $100 is better

    • Marginally better IMHO. I am not planning on any huge value purchases so I am not worried about using $50s. I think the reason so many are around is because the promo shows the $100 and people have taken it too literally.

      • That will be my plan b next week if i can't find any more 100s

      • +1

I think it’s because u can only use up to 8 giftcards per transaction.

        • I used 15x $100 cards in a single transaction today.

  • so how many cards at once can be put through ebay to pay? need $1200 and WW only has $50 ones

    • Supposedly 8 codes per transaction. That’s why $100 cards are more popular than $50s.

      • Just used 11 to buy a S10+

        • +1

It stopped me at 15x $100 today on a $1900 item.

  • +2

Be cool TA you put $50 get 1000 pts .

Might help stop the imbalance of $100's vs $50's everywhere to a small degree :)

  • +6

No more than a total of $2000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

I've been hit with the 2k and 5 k limits last time around .

But the 8 cards in a single transaction is wrong .

    • Brilliant thanks.

  • Can you use AUD gift cards on a foreign currency listing?

Say US$1000 item and you choose to pay in USD to avoid eBay's exorbitant exchange rate.

    • You can. but who do you decides what USD is equivalent to in AUD? I've done it before, the rates weren't the greatest.

      • Not sure what you just said.

I choose to use credit card currency conversion which is better than Paypal conversion.

        • But you're paying in gift cards not your credit card.

          • @clone: My example was poor.

Say US$2000 item and I've put in the maximum of 15 x AU$100 gift cards. For the remainder coming out of my credit card, can I choose to charge the card in USD or has using the gift cards locked me into eBay/Paypal conversion for the entire amount?

  • +2

You can use gift card to pay but PP converts exchange rate to for example $1 AUD = .5128 GBP ( real XE = .5382 GBP )

    Lose nearly 5% .

    • Thanks.

What about say a US$2000 item. After you max out 15 x AU$100 gift cards, can you still charge the remainder to credit card in USD?

  • Bought 9 x $100 ebay cards today thru self check out. Gift cards were activated successfully (paid with my credit card. First tried to pay with wish e-gift card but system would not let me) but the bonus points were not loaded instantly. I panicked but in the end the points showed up in my account after about 3 hours. So the points may not be added to your rewards card immediately.

  • Anyone knows where else to buy these gift cards in Perth? I have been to 3 surrounding stores so far, and none of them had stock. :(

  • Burwood East woolworths got about 50, $100 ones in stock. Its on a table near self checkouts and not on the isles

  • I wasn't able to use the woolworths reward $10 off for gift cards. Anhone else can?

    • Works on Ebay gift cards and same 10% bonus :)

  • Can I use Woolworths wish card to buy the eBay card? Or not allowed?

    • I tried last night buying a $100 ebay card with a $100 wish gift card. It did not work for me. The display said something like 'error - payment type cant be used on purchase'.

    • No. This has not been allowed for some time.

  • Anyone got some extra gift cards from this promo ?Need help to get $150 eBay gift card to complete one of my purchase.

      • Yes

        • but today the people told me only the $100 enjoy the promotion

          • @Ethandong: Well I have $2K worth of $50 gift cards that say they are wrong

          • @Ethandong: Take what a woolworths staff or manager says with a grain of salt

sometimes, its ego, some times its ignorance, sometimes its just theyre having a bad day

ive been to stores that say 3, 5, 10 is the limit,
ive some ask for me ID for random transactions,

one manager, offered to order in 100 in for me

the system is programmed to be the same nationwide, what works in one will work the same nationwide, despite what the staff says

  • Got 10 cards + 10 cards through self check out. Thanks for sharing the bargain.

  • Northbridge and North Sydney don't have any.

  • +1

but today the people told me only the $100 enjoy the promotion

Somewhere just above advised OP to put $50's in getting 1000 pts , 2nd ping .

Save's the confusion besides being a major part of the promotion .

    • They have no idea what they are talking about

      • I purchased 20 x $100 and 20 x $50 they all work fine. Test it yourself prior to paying because the self check out system will prompt and notify you of the rewards points.

I've done both 5 x 100 and 10 x 100 in one transaction, all points credited immediately. Same girl saw me two days in a row -felt a bit awkward haha.

  • My local Preston wow restocked today, bought 20 $100 ebay cards, plus 200 sports stick for kids' school.

  • Heaps of stock at Jesmond if anyone in the Newcastle area is chasing some

  • Bought $2200 in total. Will comfirm how much the cap for me.

  • The $100 ones probably have more value considering the 8 voucher limit per eBay transaction.

    • You should read the comments

  • Town Hall ww left with 20-25 cards of $100 denomination.

  • Used 19 cards in a single transaction . Someone beat me and lets see the real cap :)

    • Lucky! I was able to do 15 only!

      • it wouldn't let me enter any more after 30 x $50 vouchers

  • Confirmed:

Maximum of 15 ebay gift card per transaction.

Maximum of 20 ebay gift card per day!

  • Bought the last $50 card at Westfield Doncaster Woolworths today

  • +3

I just redeemed 16 $50 cards in one transaction and have redeemed 35 in total today.

    Just as an FYI

  • Anyone know where can I find stock in Brisbane?

    • Sherwood had dozens of both $50 and $100 yesterday arvo. Moorooka had none.

    Confirmed:
Maximum of 15 ebay gift card per transaction.
Maximum of 20 ebay gift card per day!

Actually 20 per transaction Confirmed :)

    • +1

It seems like the maximum is 15 x $100 gift cards or 30 x $50 gift cards, eBay's limit seems to be value based not number of cards based.

  • +1

There were at least 20 x $100 and loads of $50 at Woolworths Wyndham Vale VIC (Greens Road) late last night.

  • -2

I’ve called three stores in NSW
    - all out of stock
    - will be receiving new stock “Thursday this week”
    - “apparently some Asians put it on a community website and people came last week to get 30, 40, 50 cards in one transaction!”

    • +5

      Asians?? wtf

    • +8

i'm asian and i have bought some after using this community website.

      • +2

Quick, someone tell Today Tonight about this

      • +2

What's the website? Post here so ozbargainers can be asian.

    • +2

Probably not the best comment to post pointing at asians.

People who buy these cards would 99% be aussie as this is Ebay.au

If u say this about the baby formula,
Yeh, I would agree bloody asians stealing all our formula for our home grown bubs.

      • +5

I’m just quoting what the Woolworths store rep locally told me. I’m not here to judge/be annoyed at fellow ozbargainers. All “Asians” are people. People are allowed to buy. This is clearly out of line from Woolworths staff

        • +5

          Freaking hell

I didn't know "tightarse" is Asian.

          👋👋👋

      • Geez I didn't know there were no Asians using ebay.com.au

        Are you from the 1960s

  • Nice

  • +1

Plenty of $100 cards left at Woolies Metro Kings Cross, NSW (Darlinghurst Rd next to the train station). You can find them in the aisle across from the milk!

    • Buy them in the morning, pay the ladies at night…..score 10% off …double the happy ending

  • +3

OPEN UP THE LATCH ON TOP OF THE GIFT CARD CABINET, AND LOOK INSIDE. I HAVE FOUND PLENTY.

Employees just can’t be bothered looking

    • Which woolies?

      • +2

I got some out of the cabinet at Ashfield NSW yesterday. I also have had luck in the past at Leichhardt and Marrackville. I posted, not to say they have some. Just to let people know to have a look in the cabinets before they give up.

        • Thanks mate, very useful

        • +1

can you just open the cabinets yourself?

          • @SnoozeAndLose: Yep have several times, small latch on top right or left corner, opens up like a door, if someone comes over to stop you, you just explain that if they were actually checking when you asked them, instead of having them say, “if you can’t see any on the shelf, we are sold out”.
You wouldn’t need to open the cabinet.

    • +1

      It's simpler just to ask

Id rather not get beaten up by a security guard double my size

  • hi anyone know if woolworths team member discounts apply when buying gift cards ?

    • it does

      • Thank you ! hoping to stack it up with this deal tomorrow morning

  • Went to my local and was told they were all out. Someone bought $9,000 worth!

    • +3

      It's ok.

U can just buy it when u need it at a little less discount off classified.

Classified will be flood with Ebay GC soon

  • None at Chadstone or Oakleigh VIC

  • it seems that every woolworths that had heaps of $50s a few days ago are now empty in VIC

looks like people have caught onto $50s or are getting desperate

  • Checked stock levels for Brisbane north side all sold out

    • -1

      Sorry

  • Anyone ACT report please? I see nothing in Dickson Woolies for several days now

  • Ashfield NSW have a fair few left, I saw at least 40 x $50 and 10 x $100. Likely to be many more still boxed.
Ask for a manager if your having trouble finding them and insist they look. I’m sure my local store manager won’t forget me.
It seems employees are having trouble doing their jobs and restocking, it’s easier for them just to put other cards in their place.

  • Lots of mixed messages, is it 20 gift cards per transaction?
I want to buy a laptop worth 3k so if i can use $2000 giftcard that would be great

    • +1

Just try it and let us know.

    • Based on my experience and other reports the limit seems to be $1500 per transaction.

    • I just did 18 giftcards ($50s without any problem) doesn't directly answer your question, but it's more than what ebay states.

  • 30 to 40 of each left at beenleigh if you can brave the far south

  • ~30 of $50 left at Kellyville North.

  • There half a dozen $100s and heaps of $50s at Endeavour Hills

  • St Ives NSW has 120 cards ($100 each) on the shelf. I just called and new stock arrived this afternoon - but unfortunately cannot get there before work finishes. Ask for store member “Sapan” if any issues :)

    • I just arrived at the Woolworths St Ives and they are taking all the gift cards off the shelf. I asked them why and they just said the cards won’t be scanned.

  • Heaps of 100s left at woolsworth qv

  • +1

Plenty 100 and 50 cards at Woolworths Docklands

    • What, i just left docklands 10 mins ago 😢😢😢😢

    • Yup, I went around 4pm and checked Woolworths metro at Collins square first, they had none left. Walked to Woolworths docklands and saw quite a few 50s on one side and thought that was all they had left, but they had a ton of 100s of the other side of the cabinet. Still lots available for some last minute shopping for gift cards before the promotion finishes

  • +1

Was at Woolies Barkly Square, Brunswick, VIC and saw a stack of $100 Ebay gift cards still available for those still looking to get some in that area.

    • You sir are a legend, I totally forgot about this deal and everywhere was sold out. Managed to buy the last bunch here thanks to you!

Still a few $50 GCs remaining

  • +1

I assume this promo ends midnight tonight?

    • I think the promo ended at 7 pm. The store I visited on 7:05 stopped scanning eBay gift cards. They said the system wouldn’t let them go through.

      • Can anyone else confirm this:( i literally about to go do this

        • No, it still works at nearly 8pm. Unlike other giftcards, the eBay stock from Coles do not scan at Woolies(Item not found!), which is very disappointing. No wonder Coles have stock till now and nobody touched them. Just had a close look, they are slightly different. Maybe that's the stock that HDer got.

          • @Neoika: Could you please explain further? I'm not quite sure what it means by "the eBay stock from Coles do not scan at Woolies". What I visited was a Woolies and I took the cards from the gift card shelf.

            • @HDer: It can be a glitch that Woolies system did not update to recognise these batches.

Or someone before you tried activating Coles stock of no vail and left them in the store.

              • @Neoika: Yeah. They were all yellow ones. The store I visited was Woolworths St Ives NSW. Hope everyone else in NSW will have better luck.

      • Just bought a few. Can confirm it is still working Barkley Square VIC 9:08pm

  • Bought 10 x $50 at Cherrybrook NSW - just after 9pm. Still stock left

  • Worked well for me in Brighton Vic after 11 pm.

  • Scored a few in the last few minutes, checkout lady said they were getting hammered with requests all day today haha

  • +1

I can confirm that ebay allowed 24 x $50 cards to be used in a single purchase on top of a $200 discount via Phoenix code. My heart did stop when the Ebay system stalled for about a minute after I entered the 20th but it then allowed me to use another 4 cards, and a small credit card charge for the remainder.

Other ozbargainers had cleared out all of the $100 cards earlier in day.

  • There was a few locations where over zealous managers guarded 10 per person not understanding 10 per transaction that lasted entire promotion LOL . They really though they were diamonds :)

  • Not anymore .

  • +3

    It's all over….
So sad….I am getting no more unread notifications every min….
    😢

    • same, it didnt help that people in my state were all reporting heaps of stock late last night, but all a little bit too far for me!
