Key Features

Industry-leading noise cancellation
The noise-cancelling technology in the WF-1000XM3 is the most advanced ever in truly wireless headphones, with our HD Noise-Cancelling Processor QN1e. So you can lose yourself completely in your music.

Dual Noise Sensor Technology
Dual microphones-one feed-forward and one feed-back-on the surface of the headphones catch more of the ambient sounds from your surroundings, whether it s in-flight noise, city traffic, or office chatter.

Exceptional sound quality
Packed with advanced audio technology, the WF-1000XM3 noise-cancelling earbuds not only deliver noise-free listening but also offer breathtaking sound quality.

Ergonomic Tri-hold structure
The noise-cancelling earbuds are ergonomically designed to make contact with three different points on your ear for a secure, comfortable fit.

High-friction rubber surface
A high-friction rubber surface keeps the noise-cancelling earbuds snug and secure in your ear, so they won t slip out unexpectedly.

Up to 24 hours of listening
On a full charge, the headphones offer 6 hours of power, and the handy charging case provides a further three charges to keep you going throughout the day. That s up to 24 hours of noise-free listening. With noise cancelling off, it s even longer - 8 hours of power on a full charge, with a further three charges from the charging case, for up to 32 hours of play time.

Quick charging when you need it
Sometimes you need music, fast. So if your headphones are running low on power, a 10-minute quick charge in the charging case gives you up to 90 minutes of play time.

Handy magnetic charging case
Put your noise-cancelling headphones back into the charging case and they ll nestle into place with a satisfying snap thanks to a magnetic interior. A USB-C cable lets you recharge the case quickly and easily, ready for another day s listening.

Talk at a touch with Quick Attention
Placing your finger over the earbud turns the volume right down and lets in ambient sound. So you can instantly chat with someone without taking your headphones off.

Adaptive Sound Control automatically adjusts to whatever you do
The Sony | Headphones Connect app offers Adaptive Sound Control, a smart function that automatically detects what you re up to-such as traveling, walking, or waiting-then adjusts ambient sound settings to suit the situation. You can also customize the settings to your preferences.

Headphones that react to you
A proximity sensor in each earbud can detect whether you re wearing one or both, and adapts playback accordingly.

Just say the word with Voice Assistant
Enjoy entertainment, connect with friends, get information, listen to music and notifications, set reminders, and more. With the Google Assistant 3 , you only have to ask.

As always, enjoy!

  • It's TGG all over again. Likely to be cancelled?
    Edit: wrong headphones, my bad.

    • I'd imagine that the orders would be honoured, but the portal link will probably get shut down when they catch on, so best to get in early.

Made the same mistake, ha ha. Got the impression they are WM-1000XM3s

Spending 300+ for soemthing that's not sweat proof? Sony has lost the plot here

    • +1

      If only!

I am not sure why he is being downvoted!

Reviews seem excellent so far. But I can't imagine upgrading to this from the jabra elite active 65t (for use at the gym mainly especially during Qld summers) to this purely because of the lack of sweat proofing!

      • +2

I got the 65t and this new Sony.

The sound quality beats the 65t by miles, ANC is awesome.

Not sure how sweaty are you at the gym, I wore mind for a week jogging without issue but I don’t swear a lot.

        • +1

I most certainly expected the Sony to be ahead by miles for the sound quality and the NC.

I spend an easy 1.5-2 hours at the gym everyday and sweat a fair bit by the time I am done. Last thing I need is some highly expensive earphones not working because of the usage that I intend to use it for :)

    • -2

My Sennheiser HD660's aren't sweat proof, should I get rid of them?

      • +3

Difference is, most people might use these at the gym compared to the HD660's.

Almost all the true wireless earphones in this price range have some sort of sweat/water proofing, except for apple I believe.

        • +2

If you wear closed back headphones at the gym, you're more concerned with your appearance than you are with working out. Closed backs and exercise don't go together. That's what in ears are for.

Please point out which closed back wireless headphones, ANC or not, have any kind of IP rating (should be a long list considering you said "almost all").

          • +1

@aja12: Lol. Jabra Elite/Active 65T's are one of the best rated true wireless earphones for sound quality for music. I am unsure as to why you think they are shit. They are very popular among Ozbargainers! Refer here, here and here

And what sort of stupid comparison is this comparing closed back wireless headphones (without or without IP rating) to true wireless in earphones like the elite active 65 t or wf-1000XM3 or beoplay e8.

Are you confusing the WF1000XM3 with the WH1000XM3 (which I own btw and are over ears like the 660's!)? because they are 2 different models for different purposes

            • +9

              @aspirepranesh: 100% thats what I did. I'll see myself out…

              • +5

@aja12: Most people who are downvoting sauce2k might be on the same boat as you're!

Sony have done a great job of confusing quite a few people by naming the 2 models very similar and users here are down voting us without realizing the products are very different :)

              • +1

@aja12: Hey, wait for me! 😒

            • @aspirepranesh:

Lol. Jabra Elite/Active 65T's are one of the best rated true wireless earphones for sound quality for music.

You named one earbud. But since you said "almost all" true wireless earphones in this range are sweat proof, can you continue the list?

    • +2

Lol wtf why u all downvoting me… The biggest flaw is it's not water and sweat proof…. 😑

    • Just curious… Which TW earbuds claim to be sweat proof?

  • +3

Hoping this goes on sale on Prime Day.

  • Ugh, dunno what to get, these, powerbeats pro or bose soundsport free D:

Any recommendations? Want the best sound, dont care for the rest.

    • Bose Soundsport, I have the pulse ones, so good.

    • can't say personally, but my friend dislikes his bose soundsport free

    • New Sony WF-1000XM3 vs. Beats PowerBeats Pro
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUUFKEcOTVE

      • Thanks for the link, I did just watch this/read the review, seems on sound it's the Sony but I'm usually a bass head, but I can just adjust the EQ with the sonys right?

        • With an app on your phone - yes I believe so

          • @Remorhaz: Yeah the video showed a sony app with adjustable EQs. Think I'll just grab the sonys.

  • Great reviews on this !!

  • +2

The reviews for this sound good, but my gosh my WF1000X1’s are complete trash. Glad it seems they’ve fixed up the plethora of issues in the first gen device which I regret getting so much, but because I bought it overseas could not return them at all.

    • Got both and confirmed the new one fixed all the bad things about gen 1.

The sound quality is heaps better. The connection drop out is gone and ANC is heaps better

The voice call quality is now improved a lot.

Battery life last for a long time.

      Worth the upgrade.

  • +7

To the people who are downvoting sauce2k, read the post and know that this is a post about WF1000XM3 which are in ear true wireless as opposed to WH1000XM3 which are over ear ANC head phones which have been out for about a year!

    • +1

      Thank u lol

      • +1

All good mate! Hate it when people get downvoted by people without knowing the facts!

  • Thx OP. I gave a feeling it won't be honoured but gotta be in it to win it

  • +4

Love these but definitely not worth the RRP price tag especially without any waterproof/dustproofing. For something $300+ you'd expect some level of IPX rating. Luckily, Sony X members are able to cop these at $250, which is a bit more reasonable.

    • +1

      Yup!

As I posted above, before it got unpublished by the author. Buy two of these for $498 + $2 item (or more) and claim back AmEx cashback (Spend $500, Get $150 Back @ Sony). Ez pz $350 for two!

      • Only if u have Sony x. Otherwise it's 650 for 2 which works out to be 325 each.

      • How do I checkout with 2 for $500? :D

      • Any links to a $2 item?

    • How does Sony X work? Am I able to sign up through the website? Cheers

      • +1

Wait for applications to open and sign up and hope they approve you. You can't just sign up on the spot and get the discount.

      • +1

Only if you are selected. Anyone can register. They'd expect members to review it and share on social media.

  • Hmmm these or WH-1000XM3 sound wise?

    • +3

how about wh for winter and wf for summer

    • +1

Or get both like I did. I like the over-ears, but they're pretty bulky, so got the wireless earbuds for when I have a small bag and can't carry much in it

    • Probably WH-1000XM3.

    • +4

      Apples and bananas my man

WH will have better sound but is bulky
      WF sacrifices sound for portability

  • Says $294.37 for me via Westpac group discount

    • +1

      How where?

      • Some big companies get GST free or even discounted rates for most items at JB. CBA and Westpac being two of them.

  • Thanks doweyy!
Hopefully this goes through and I get them.
I prefer earphones over headphones coz they stuff up my hair. Haha

  • Will wait for Prime day but great deal.

    • I don't even see it on Amazon AU though

  • anyone with CBA group jbhifi discount you can get these for $293

    • What's cba group discount?

    • $239.97 you mean

      • … 293 is what I'm seeing

        • +1

Go to the staff deals app. Then go to Sony. Instructions are there thru the Sony store.

  • +1

It's asking for an organisation code and password.

  • Thanks, got it earlier at 7.15pm! Been waiting patiently for a discount on this great pair since Sony X is too exclusive to get in.

  • Thanks OP.

  • confused, i know its expired now but did the link give access to the F&F store or something?

    • +1

Yeah the link was a direct entry to the F&F store, since the direct link is now dead I thought it was best to expire, the deal is still live for anyone who has access, and some JB portals have better prices.

      • ooh, that's cool! :)

        wish i had access :(

        • i have access. its pretty good for some items, however some are still rrp.
I just came here surprised someone had direct access to a private section of a site.

  • -5

Got my Edifier TWS1 and much better value than these Sony ones

  • Cheaper for CBA staff. $239.97

    • It's 293..how did u get to 239?

      • Well it's 239 for me. No idea how to post a screenshot.

        • What division do you work in?

          • +1

@Boxz: he just replied my post..it's not through the jbhifi family portal but thru Sony

"Go to the staff deals app. Then go to Sony. Instructions are there thru the Sony store"

            • +1

@sauce2k: Lol took me ages to realise why it was cheaper. It was because I was at the Sony store instead.

              • @hotstuff: Thanks so much for heads-up guys. Got 2 with a friend to get amex cashback as well

  • Is it $293 or $239 for CBA staff ?

  • Anyone got a click and collect email yet?

    • still waiting for confirmation

  • +2

Just got an email saying they are out of stock with no ETA at the moment.

    • +1

      Me too… so sad

      • +1

        same..

        doesnt mention refund/cancelling order though..

not sure if that means wait indefinitely?

        • Same, they charged my credit card though so I am hoping for 'foreseeable future' instead of 'wait indefinitely'.

          • @yanhaot: hope so too! fingers crossed!

            • @chew_chew: Got an email update. ETA 2 weeks!

              • @yanhaot: Are you guys sure? I got a refund but they just sent an email offering three other alternatives.

                • @julz15: also got an email on 3 alternatives or refund.

                    wtf..

                • @julz15: Yeah, I got that as well. Oh well :(

    • +1

Same, called store for collection said it should be here this week. Different stock from regular stock apparently.

  • I got one of the out of stock notifications but managed to get the last black one in store at South Wharf by trying my luck and asking them to match the price at $294.37. They did say there is still silvers in stock.

They asked for my order invoice so you may need that.

  • Got my order through local JB store in ACT, only pair they had for commercial stock at this point. awesome ear phones highly recommend.
