Greetings everyone, just spotted this over at HUKD.

Instructions:

  1. Open the eBay app and log in to your eBay UK account.
  2. Go to the 3 lines at the top left and go to Settings.
  3. Go to Country/Region and change your country to UK
  4. Add item to cart and apply the coupon "PLAYAPP"

You will need to make a new account if you don't have an eBay UK account yet. And then put a UK address as your primary address when you sign up and change it to Australia afterwards to be able to add the gift cards to cart.

    IOS here.

    Auto-detect for country is on by default in the eBay app. Need to change this to UK.
    To use the PLAYAPP you must set your deliver address to AU.

        I used PayPal, I have ebay UK account since last year, but when I tried with my new PayPal account, it doesn’t work, then I tried my old PayPal account. It worked.

            @keejoonc: No. I’ve checked and 7/11 is no longer price king (on diesel for example). With 10% (or even 5%) is equivalent to 6-8c/L saving. Plus a 4c fuel voucher and you’re laughing.

                @keejoonc: 7-eleven prices across Aus are only same ish slightly more as Caltex nowadays. But they don’t have all the discounts (NRMA or otherwise), plus wish gift card.

                Last year they were almost always cheaper but they’ve changed their business model now. Probably after the wage scandal and their draw card $1 coffee.

                  Benefit with 7/11 comes from the fact that you get the cheapest price available nationwide.

                    @keejoonc: Well I’m not saying I only fill up at Caltex. I use 7-11 if it’s cheaper. But when prices are comparable it’s really not.

                    I see BP at the same price as 7/11 now in my local area. Woolworths Caltex yesterday was just 126.9. With 4c fuel voucher that’s 122.9, then 5% wish gift card is 116.9c/L. Or 10% wish gc is 110.9c/L.

                    Without voucher, but nrma is just 1c extra.

                    Without either voucher it’s 114.9c/L.

                    Any of these examples would beat 7-11 until you specifically pick the day the fuel price cycle goes up. E.g. I filled 91 for 120.9 yesterday but my motorbike only takes like 12L so I don’t really care much. Still, the pump price at 7-11 was 165.9

      Personally, unless I'm planning on buying something specific and expensive, it doesn't make sense for me to buy a bunch of giftcards, which I may forget about. Our household grocery bill isn't that big either so happy to just buy GCs through Suncorp as and when needed.

      Stocking up on GCs would just give me an excuse to buy something I don't need or shouldn't buy LOL

    argh can't seem to get it to work, can add to the card and apply the code but when I click 'confirm and pay', I get a pop up with '…' and a 'OK' button and get redirected to shopping cart - can't figure out WTH is going on.     Each to their own. I can understand doing this for some GCs but you can already get most gift cards with at least 5% discount.
    Personally it all seems like too much hassle to get extra $44.89 on $897.8 worth of spend.

      SOLUTION.

      Have the gift cards in your watch list
      Have your address as AUS as primary. Find any item from an Australian seller, add it to your cart.
      Change your address to UK primary
      While your in settings, go to personal information and remove your paypal account (remember me) so when you go into checkout it doesn’t automatically come up.

      Now with your primary address back to UK, add 1 gift card to cart, so your cart will have Aus item and gift card in it.
      Go to checkout, it will say sorry no can do because of your address,
      Add the code, the deduction should happen.
      Change the quantity of the cards to what you want.
      Log into Paypal
      Change address to Aus, which you can do because you have a physical item in checkout.
      Remove item so only gift cards remain
      Discount should still be present and confirm

          I have a couple of UK accounts which have had for at least a year now. I had all the same error messages that people were experiencing. It’s a shame that it doesn’t work for you guys.
          Once I discovered how to work this out on one of the accounts, I went back to my other account and was still having issues, until I removed the remember me setting for Paypal in checkout and had also selected a different ebay gift card from the one I had previously taken to checkout. Just rambling but my goal was to be able to get to checkout with the ability to go from having my primary address set to UK and then being able to change it to Aus with the code already applied when I had address in UK.

I noticed the paypal processing time is suspiciously long with a double spinning wheel, happened both on my android and ipad, then always return to the checkout page asking to choose another payment method without telling a reason.

    Can you guys see all the paypal-digital-gifts items for sale or only those that you have looked at before? I dont see when looking under the seller and when I use the links on a PC so taht they appear on my mobile under recent items I get an erorr at checkout which is just "…".
    Anyone else have this issue?

      I had a few issues but got there in the end.

      I had the UK account set up, logged in on the app. Made sure my location in settings was seting to UK.
      In a web browser I logged in searched for what I wanted to buy and added it to the watch list. I then when and two addresses in to my delivery addresses, an australian and a UK. I make the UK one primary. I then went on the App and added what I wanted to the cart. Once it added to the card, on the web browser I changed my primary location back to Australia, then in the cart I just went through the normal purchasing like normal.
