Greetings everyone, just spotted this over at HUKD.

Instructions:

  1. Open the eBay app and log in to your eBay UK account.
  2. Go to the 3 lines at the top left and go to Settings.
  3. Go to Country/Region and change your country to UK
  4. Add item to cart and apply the coupon "PLAYAPP"

You will need to make a new account if you don't have an eBay UK account yet. And then put a UK address as your primary address when you sign up and change it to Australia afterwards to be able to add the gift cards to cart.

    Have been asked before by someone else, but didn't receive a complete answer. If the UK account used to purchase it gets suspended, does it void the gift card too? Even if this has been used on another account first (effectively linking it to the other account)?

      YES! but only if qantas get involved, then the internal investigation will prove everyone fraudulently used a voucher code! ;}

      otherwise doubt it, its a unique code that is transferable (its a GIFT card!) and money converted to electronic digits. separate from ebay user policy
      as an aside, I couldnt create UK account with my AU linked email address, but the email from the (previous 10% off deal) US ebay account worked

        Anyway, that was my exact same reasoning (transferable until first use…they can't deprive good kids of their hard-earned gifts), but thought it was better to ask for other people experiences with that. Thanks again, I'll test my luck!

    I have both uk and au ebay i use regular i download app and hoe do i search gift cards as when i click on links start of this thread goes to ebay ul and not where gift cards are.then what are the steps to make this work

      What I did was to click on the link in a web browser and then added the item to my watchlist/cart. Then log into the app and you will see the item in your watchlist/cart. From there, you can proceed to checkout.

        As said above, first log in using Google Chrome into eBay.co.uk then follow the link in this post and add the card to your cart. Then log out and log in through your app. The cards will still be in the cart

      You will have to log in through app into an account that was created using eBay.co.uk.

      Otherwise, you won't be able to apply discount code

        Credit card is not accepted by the seller (gift card seller only accepts PayPal).

        If PayPal doesn't work then there are other issues.

            @JesseZ: The only way to purchase is through PayPal, and for it to be discounted is to have UK registration address. Apparently, PayPal often does not work for a myriad of reasons.

    I created an account and when I go in registration address page to double check UK address, at the very bottom of the page it says 'Registration date: June 18, 2016' !

    I wonder where is this date from for a newly created account!

    Well, I've been trying for hours and tried all recommended ways here in the comments and nothing. I made a UK account today. Can't pay for the Gift cards either using PayPal or Debit/Credit Card. I can (and bought today) other physical things without a problem but not the gift cards. I can only think is to do with the seller and how the gift card store has been setup and not PayPal or eBay. I surrender

    With my uk eBay account ( with a uk postal address and Australia delivery address) I received error while paying from PayPal Australia account yesterday. I then called PayPal customer support yesterday and. They said that he transaction was declined because My Australia PayPal account has never been used to send ~800- aud to eBay uk in past. They verified my account manually and confirm that the transaction will go ahead. I was then able to successfully purchase the discount vouchers on eBay uk and paying for them via my PayPal Australia account. Hope it helps others in future atleast. Thanks.

    I had a weird experience with my accounts,
    it seems very random working for some, not working for others
    had 2 accounts opened prior
    purchased ebay cards without too much hassle
    then opened a new account, nothing worked
    then opened another account to test, nothing worked
    went back to my original 2 accounts
    purchased from officeworks, worked
    1st account, I was able to order again from officeworks
    2nd account, unable to order again from officeworks

    seems very random

    I just want to provide an update: I could successfully buy a gift card after the sale was over.

    Either some Paypal accounts were flagged for the sale, or maybe the accounts were too new.

    I know for a fact I tried every ā€œsolutionā€ during the sale and none worked.

        The email is only a link to the Paypal/ebay code, it doesn't contain the code. So you'd have to rely on having internet AND on Paypal maintaining the link.
