Can confirm that it took just over an hour to port from Kogan to Boost. Glad to have dodged the porting horrors.

  • I started the port yesterday morning, got he Text almost instantly, but still it has not gone thru.
Is anyone else having porting issues?

    • I started porting process from Kogan to Boost today morning around 9 AM. Received the text verification and email but the porting hasn't been completed yet. I checked with Boost chat to ask if any error or issue and they say all good, just need to wait.

      • Please let us know how long it took total.

        • It has taken many others weeks.

        • 24 hours complete but still no luck. I re-checked with them today morning but still the same reply. All good, it is in the queue and you need to wait.

          • @jubz: Hmmm…. What was complete in 24hrs?

  • Couldn’t find the $2 SIM in 2 Coles, ended up just buying the recharge voucher. Glad I bought the half-price $20 SIM for porting few days ago.

I asked the cust svc if I could buy the voucher first and later collect the $2 SIM later when they get new stocks. Nope can’t do :(

  • In what order do you move over to boost? Wife pays amaysim and comes off bank dont know how they get payment as its done by card and its long expired. Its due on 5 days. Do i put boost into her sim and port number or should i arrange to cancel payment then port number?
I may need to go to bank to cancel payment as i have no idea how there able to get payment with expired card since last year.

    • Call amaysim and cancel payment (or just do online). Transfer wife over to belong as soon as possible (you could even just move her over without cancelling payment as if it’s not a contract, once number is transferred they shouldn’t take any money)

    • The best way which I do it. Go online to amaysim account. Click on Manage Plan on the left hand side. Change your plan to Pay as you Go. They will change the plan on the last date of your expiry. Lets say the plan expires on 29 Sep, then on 29 Sep it will automatically converted to Pay as you Go. Then you don't need to worry about future payments.
In the meanwhile switch to Boost without any worries.

      • But I have no idea how there are able to get payment as card on file expired last year. So i can only think its direct debit. They take payment each month i dont do anything. And says on account to update card lol but for a year they have got payment regardless.
How do i know what plan its on? its not on contract but pay monthly. So are you saying i change to pay as you go meaning they cant get another payment unless i pay manually? So where are they getting access to these payments now if my card expired last year.
But if what you say works its ideal as then give me time to port.

        • Bwatt72 you should really sort this out. It’s your account and we don’t have access. Crazyboy gave you the best advice.

          • @fozzie: I had a look and seen that option as payg so I will do that I take they can't charge you once on payg and the only way you can use is if you pay them or buy some credit? At least this way I can start the port over for her and not be charged prior.

Got one. More sim cards available at Coles Northrocks, NSW .
    none available at Epping Coles.

    • +1

Finally managed to get one from North Rocks.
Now the question is how long it's going to take to port from Kogan…

      • Please share update when you port from Kogan. I am on Kogan too my plan expires only after 3 months.

  • Anyone know if world square coles has any?

  • going for 3 weeks now since port requested and identity confirmed.

    • are you also port from kogan too? So 3 weeks since verification and still not port across yet? That's unacceptable! I reckon if Kogan purposely doing this as a revenge to all who jumping ship, giving all of us hard time?

  • Hi there, I asked close of at Ives, asquith and Hornsby none of them do not have this product :) does anyone know about another comes near at Ives or chatswood have this product?

    • +1

I’d suggest you get one of the 28day SIM pack, port to Boost, then recharge using this deal next month.

Boost has the $30 pack on half price on their website, Officeworks have the $20 pack on half-price - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/485410
Data doesn’t roll over from 28 days to long term plan though.

I did this to test their mobile reception first but glad I did because the $2 SIM is OOS everywhere I asked

      • Good idea. Thx mate.

  • Plenty available at The Pines Doncaster East. I was originally going to just buy the voucher itself if the $2 sims were out of stock and get the sim perhaps at Woolies. Luckily that wasn’t needed. Bought 2. Great deal

    • Zero there today

  • If I'm on the monthly pre-paid Boost, do I just get a voucher then contact Boost to apply it at next month renewal?
There's no option on the standard renewal page to add the voucher (that I can see)

    • +1

In the app, if you tap Recharge there’s an option to use code/voucher.

      • whats the name of the boost app btw?

    • I tried to register my sim online. It said my license number was incorrect, wtf ? haha. I rang boost, to my surprise very short wait. The girl was very nice and polite, took my name and license number, and all good. She told me not to recharge on app or online. She told me to dial #111# and select option 1, then select option 2. Really easy to do this way. Worked for me.

      • Yep, I recharged using the voucher by dialling #111#. Very easy

      • From what I understand after reading the comments, the issue is with activation/ porting in and not so much with recharge though. Once ported in successfully, main problem is sorted.

  • Thanks. I just bought this and the Telstra 6 months offer to replace my Vodafone plans.

  • Picked mine up today there was nothing on the shelf so I just open the display went through some of the boxes at the bottom and found a pile of $2 Sims, asked for the $150 recharge at the check out total $135.

    One happy little Vegemite:)

  • +1

Anyone have troubles recharging online? It says recharging service not available

    • With a voucher it is best to recharge by dialling #111#

      • If you need to port number aswell. Can you dial #111#

  • My plan doesn’t expire till Jan, can I get now and activate in Jan?

    • +1

that's no problem, just activate it before the expiry date. check both $2 sims card expiry date and $150 recharge voucher expiry date.

    • Also, take a photo or make a copy of the voucher/receipt just in case if it fades out.

      • +1

Recharges expire in April 2021. My sim expires in May so you have plenty of time

  • It was not available on deal start day in any Coles store in ACT, is it the same case till now?

  • How do you get the Flybuys bonus points? Any link?

    • +1

Download FlyBuys app. All available offers for you are listed there, you need to activate the offer before scanning your card

  • Ok haven’t porting issues. It’s 3 days now and number still not ported over yet

    • I’m on 16 days… still waiting.

      Lebara to Boost

      • Damn… I’m also porting over from lebara. Let me know when it is successfull :/

        • Just completed and charged this morning with the voucher.

Took 8 2hr phone calls and a complaint lodged to get it done though.

          • @geoffs87: So how did they fixit?

            • @first in line: No idea, just started working this morning…

Another 2 promised return phone calls still not bothering! Maybe one day I can answer that

  • Looks like porting process has changed a bit, now need to enter a 6 digit code from your old sim to go thru a verification stage. Used to be only took 20 mins to port across from Kogan without this part 6 months ago.

Since entered the code last night at 7pm, old sim still working this morning. Rang Boost customer service, confirm that there is a new porting process 'enforced' by the government and it will take much longer to port, he said up to 48 hours, but I bet it will be a big delay seeing others here been waiting more than 3 days.

    • Yes, I completed my verification but still not ported. 48 hrs passed, hope it gets ported today. Fingers crossed. I am moving from Kogan to Boost.

      • I notice that people having delayed/problem with porting are mostly from Kogan. Hope it gets sorted out soon for you guys :(

      • Thats no good, looks like now its a delay issue for every kogan to boost port. The current kogan plan will expire on 2nd Oct, if by then still not port, then can only receive calls and nothing else !!! Why on earth this stupid government introduces such a painful process all of a sudden to slow everything down?

        • +1

Well.. not sure whom to believe. If it's to do with govt process, then porting into Boost from any provider should face the delays and not just Kogan. If it's mainly with Kogan then it should be raised with them.

          • @virhlpool: Agree. I ported from Telstra to vodafone in a few business hours, but was during late arvo/evening and all good by 10 am next morning YMMV.

  • Can you get this at coles express? my local coles closed down a year ago

  • Just purchased at Coles Northcote (Separation St) side. $2 Sim were available at display at one of the check outs. I also used gift vouchers and had no issues. Won’t be porting until Dec though.

  • bought from belconnen, ported in 3 hrs. there is sms code for porting to the old sim.

    • Good to hear. Who did you port from?

      • Virgin mobile

        • Almost forgot about them. Yeah,…so Optus carrier, that make sense.

It really looks like most delays seem to be between Kogan to Boost.

  • telstra are a bloody joke - 3 weeks no port

    • +1

Mine took about 10mins from Vodafone.

    • How did you port from telstra?
You need blank sim to porting from telstra to boost.
Then need to call boost costumer service for porting it has done on the spot.

  • Has anyone seen the sims anywhere on the Gold Coast? Tried Robina - no luck

    • +1

Don't tell me your driving around looking for Boost sim. just grab a $20 starter pack now $10 from officeworks and activate that for port, then when out of data or expiry date activate your $150 re-charge voucher.

      • +1

This ^. I stumbled upon the officeworks deal and glad I ported with the $20 SIM. No $2 SIM in any Coles around me.

      • +1

Oh I thought I had to buy the sim and credit together? So I can just get the credit now and get the sim when I need it now? Oops

        • +1

As this deal is for a "$150 Re-Charge for $135, and you can get a free $2 sim if needed/wanted/in stock"

So if not in stock, you can just ask for the Re-Charge only and just Re-Charge any Boost number or find another sim/Sim starter pack, activate that, then add this Re-Charge to it. Hope that helps.

          • +1

@ozhunter68: I tried my luck asking if I could do raincheck for the SIM card. They said no :-p

            • +1

@BlackMothra: Good on ya for trying, don't blame you. Some staff just feel the need to enforce a "No Rainstock Policy", even if there is no such policy for certain items. Other staff are more willing, whether there is or not, go figure lol.

          • @ozhunter68: So it's not a physical $150 Sim pack sold for $135?

That might explain why the two Coles I went to didn't have them

            • @edrift:

That might explain why the two Coles I went to didn't have them

Exactly same thing happened with me.

            • @edrift: That is correct - it’s a recharge voucher printed on a receipt. It’s not a physical product on the shelves, you/they have to select it on the POS terminal.

  • So is it possible to recharge the expired kogan 365 days into a monthly plan while waiting for this damn stupid porting delay? At least the number still has credit to dial and surf web.

  • When I buy the SIM card from Coles, do they need to register the SIM card? I purchased the recharge coupon and $2SIM through self-checkout and there was no process to register the SIM serial. Now I inserted the SIM card into the phone and it asks me to return to the retailer with proof of purchase to have the SIM replaced?

Also they said that the pre-allocated mobile phone number should be printed on the package, however I can't find this at all. Is this right?

    • Have you activated the SIM online? Go to Boost website and do the activation there. If you’re porting, keep your old SIM in your phone until the porting is completed (your phone will then display ‘SOS only’). The port process now seems to involve receiving validation code on the old SIM.

No phone number printed on my pack either. I assume you get to choose one during activation if you select new number.

    • +2

When you self checkout you need to fist scan the small barcode the a message will tell you that you need to activate it. This is when you scan the big barcode to activate the SIM.

    • +1

"DKC" The sim card either plain $2 sim or any value sim starter pack Must be Validated/Registered as purchased there on

that said date, so take your receipt and/or your Re-Charge Voucher as proof of purchase and go back to the service desk

to get them to validate/register the sim properly. If you paid for the Re-Charge amount of $135, then your Re-Charge should

be correct and you should have a sim included validated/registered ready to go.

Then you are ready to activate/port and follow "BlackMothra's" instructions above. Good luck :-)

  • Plenty of Sims available at Zetlands

  • Bought yesterday. Ported over fine.

Great reception. I had 1 bar or SOS in my apartment on Catch Mobile.
Now I have 3 bars OMGGGGGGGGG.

    • So porting from Catch is quick, looks like Kogan is the issue now.

      • Nope I am with catch, 5 days and counting here…

  • Hey guys how frequent does Coles to this special?

    • +1

Once or twice a year I think, and BigW has this deal too from time to time. Do a search here for Boost and you should be able to estimate how often this deal came up.

  • I notice boost also has a 240GB 12 month deal for $300. Does it ever go on sale ?

    • +2

Not that I recall. But in the past, some have bought 2x $150, and have been able to call up and redeem them against the $300 plan.

Someone commented earlier that Boost would not allow that this time…whether that is a new policy, or just up to the discretion of the operator you speak to, I have no idea!

  • +2

Bought from Coles Bassendean WA. Took $2 SIM and loaded voucher on the self serve checkout. $2 for the SIM were deducted. Paid by egift card (-4%) and scanned 1000 points coupon (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/485972). I've activated get 3600 points for $90 spent email offer earlier. 4735 points added to my Flybuys account a day later. All in all, a little under $106 for this plan. Not bad.

  • I transferred from Belong this morning to Boost, chose Post Paid, Put in account number. Took about 15mins. All done online

    • were u on postpaid with belong?

      • When porting, they ask if you are on post paid or pre paid. I read on whirlpool that Belong customers are considered Post Paid and no prepaid.

  • do i need to use it straight away or i can apply the recharge a few months later?

    • From memory, the expiry on the $150 vouchers is sometime in March/April 2021, so you have a bit of time! :)

  • 21 days to port from Kogan/Vodafone

    • What? Where did you got this info?
