              • @batrarobin: Did it show you an ETC payment? On mine it says 388.

                • @jdf: My order is 'complete' now.. successfully switched to $50m2m

                • @jdf: Mine says $0.00

  • Long time lurker … I tried to jump on this deal today, having previously jumped on the $500gc deal at Good Guys, but the staff told me my account was locked.

Any idea what that means? Is it a telstra thing or a jb hifi thing?

Similar thing happened to another friend at a different store, who was told his MRO is 0. What does that mean?

    • +1

I think you are the first one who got Telstra account locked. Its best to ask Telstra what happen to your account. Best case scenario its just a fault on their system, and worst case scenario they banned you from Telstra because they notice you've been exploiting their loophole.

      • That's a good point…Telstra may not have the ability to chase down people who've made off without an ETC, but banning people from further activity with them would presumably be very easy.

      • Lol … except I still have active services.

    • Were you trying to port the same number that was connected to Telstra in the last 30 days?

  • Are you supposed to be ok in regards to the porting issues people have had if you've received and successfully entered the 6 digit code from the SMS Telstra sends you?

    • I waited 5 days for the SMS, then it was more or less instant one I entered the code.

  • oh man this second time was a pain in the @ss to downgrade and cancel lol, the one i did for my self went smooth as butter, the second time for a family member.. even the cancellation i had to go through 2 people because they started saying even if i downgraded to m2m i cant cancel (which is bullshit) but i didnt wana argue with the first one so i just shut the chat, i know legally he is incorrect as the m2m plan has no cancellation fee, he is telling me about my previous plan the $65 having a cancellation fee which they have already waived when they downgraded me to the m2m, so too late to talk about that, but i didnt even wana waste my time explaining that to him so i restarted the chat and after 20 mins talking to another one and they really tried so hard to get me not to cancel, finally cancelled, what a banger deal, now we wait on them earbuds see when they show up.

    • +1

      You dropped this .

      • Like Hansel and Gretel's trail of breadcrumbs.

  • Did everyone who switched to m2m get a second credit inquiry?

    • +1

      yes

      • So it doesn't matter if live chat or you do it through the website, you always get a second inquiry?

        • +1

I've only done live chat, but they did run my credentials again.

  • So has anyone been stuck with ETC? or has everyone got out of it?

  • I can confirm from asking in-store that it ends today.
I'm not having any luck with m2m though =\ and it gets awkward cos they know your previous transcripts.

    • and it gets awkward cos they know your previous transcripts.

They only know your previous transcripts, when you start a chat after logging into your telstra account. If you start a chat before logging in, they shouldn't be able to see it straight away. This will give you an opportunity to ask straight out if the rep will switch you with an ETC. If they say no, hang up and try again.

      • +1

i think they see it as soon as i do the authentication via sms.

Also they're saying the "system" itself wont allow it without charging the ETC

        • the "system" would be the floor manager frantically trying to plug this deal.

        • i think they see it as soon as i do the authentication via sms.

Yes, my point was to ask if they can do it before the SMS authentication. If they agree, then the previous chat history shouldn't matter.

  • I'm now on the $50M2M on a number that I don't want to keep (just used for this deal). Is it possible to cancel the month early and get the a pro-rated bill for this first month? If so, can someone explain what I need to do? Is it just a matter of starting another chat and asking the support assistance to cancel the number? Cheers all

    • +2

Yes….start another chat and ask to cancel. You may wish to ask to go on Prepaid instead and forget about that number. It will be deactivated after 6 months.

  • +7

Many thanks OP!! I picked up the pixel 4. Got the Google hub. Switched to M2M via the APP thanks to the guy who worked this out). Now on a no contract plan. Will cancel the M2M in a few days. Going to claim TRS on the phone in a few weeks which should cover all the costs so I should end up cash flow positive.

Overall a free pixel 4 + google Hub + cash in my pocket.

    • Is the M2M plan also pro-rata?

    • That's true dedication.

    • And got a second google hub thanks to the guy/girl that worked out that there are two IMEI numbers on the box. Genius!

  • +2

When you switch to the M2M in the app, does it say there are zero termination costs? Or is it better to get confirmation from live chat

  • for the google nest hub, Has anyone sent the wrong imei number in first go (missed 1 number), came up as that imei is not valid etc, then the second go put the right imei in & message came back saying .. Ooops there is a problem we are looking int it? cant get past that now

    • Use another phone and try again.

      • do you mean put sim in another phone, tried it same message.. :(

        thanks anyway

        • No. Another phone with its own sim. That’s what I did.

  • Despite changing to M2M and then prepaid, I've got a bill for $65, not sure why. I have only had the plan for 2 days and the bill is for the next 26-7 days!

    • Because M2M is never pro-rated.

      • Ahhh…so my $65 to Telstra's deep pocket!

But, $65 was not the M2M plan, it was the BYO JB plan. The M2M was $50.

        • +1

OK, interesting that it came to that. In any case, boo hoo, $264 for a newly released $1k phone with a $200 Google Nest Hub. 😂

      • The fine print suggests it is:
"Month-to-month plans: If you cancel your service, you will receive a pro rata refund for the remainder of your month. If you have any device, accessory or service add-ons attached to your plan, you will have to pay any remaining amount owing on your next bill."

    • Same here, I got a JB65 bill just after signed up one day, and basically asked me to pay for 1 month in advance. Have you paid the bill and have received another bill?

      • dont pay it yet. change to prepaid and wait for your last bill

  • I've been getting the same oops message since the start

    • +1

      try your IMEI2 number

      • it worked,. awesome!

  • I've tried to swap to month to month 3 times but no luck so far.

For those who tried swapping through the app/website, did you your contract details read: "You can switch your plan, but we need to let you know that it will cost at least $390.00 today"?

    • tried 7 via chat they keep mentioning JB, last one goes your under contract you know that lol.. fml..

    • +2

Yea it says that but if you do it in the App, it switched over to m2m and the ETC charge disappears.

      • Did you get your first bill without a termination fee?

      • Is this because your new current M2M plan does not have ETC?
BUT how can you know there is no ETC when you move from JB to M2M?

        • Not my first rodeo.

          • @Bluberry: So you did this before and there was no ETC eventually?
I still have no luck after more then 15 attempts on chat.

            • +1

@Ozabc: Use the APP. It's the easiest path now. And before they close this loophole as well.

              • @Bluberry: app says ETC of $390 though.

                • @Rakddon: not for changing plans

                  • @WTF: done last night as couldn't get chat to help.

yes it says "$0 one off fee + $50 monthly fee" (i chose the $50 sim only).
Did confirm with chat though 2 times that it should say "$390 one off fee + $50 monthly fee" (didn't tell them it said $0)

      • But the App clearly states "Cost to switch your plan - Plan early termination charge $387.90"

So those who have swapped to M2M via the App or web think they're not going to get charged the ETC?

Can anyone who's done this confirm that? I'm just a bit skeptical…. I've tried via chat 5 times and no luck yet.

        • Listed as follows after switch to M2M:

          Order summary
          Mobile Plan Medium
          Upfront cost -
          Monthly cost $60.00

Entirely possible (and not inappropriate) for them to ask for the relevant ETC to be paid…but they'd have to allow the customer to cancel the switch back to a JB plan, as the upfront cost is clearly listed as zero.

  • Congrats guys. As for me, I’m still in the process of porting out. I tracked my port order # and it still says “ Sorry, we've hit some difficulties in completing your order. As we may need to resubmit it, please check your email for a new order number. If you haven't received one please call 132200.”

    Anyone got the same problem?

    • +1

JB tried 3 times, i gave up.

      • What seems to be the problem? Giving up is not an option for me. Already invested a lot of time. Lol Hope they still honor the deal even if it apparently expires today. Sad.

        • +1

Just do it via the APP. So much easier.

  • +11

Hey guys you might wanna try this if you have access to 2nd telstra/boost number since Pixel 4 has 2 different IMEI, do it quick before they find out :)

Thanks to whirlpool i've just claimed a 2nd Nest using partner's Boost number.

$199 for pixel 4, converted to M2M $0 cancellation fees, 2x Google Nest Claimed (1 already sitting in our kitchen)

Deal of the year for me.

Thanks alot everyone for all the tips/tricks!

    • Might want to delete your comment on the down low^

    • +3

      Champion! cough cough…..

    • Telstra sold 50 pixel 4 phones, google nest claimed 5000

    • This deal just keeps on giving….

    • OMG.. umm nothing to see here :)

    • You Legend!! Just happened to have a boost $2 sim lying around. Had to pay $10 more to activate but my 2nd hub is on its way!!!

      • Surely you had a friend in Telstra perhaps ?

    • Thanks just claimed a second one lol

      • Damn, I sold the phone for $800 and didn't take note of imei2.

        • you done goofed out

    • Anyone know how to locate the IMEI2 without the box (at work atm)?

      • Try dial *#06#

        • Thanks - unfortunately it only displays the IMEI1

      • +1

hey google, what is my second IMEI number?

      • @TNDO Add 18 to your IMEI1 !

    • +1

Just tried IMEI2 with another Telstra number, but it didn't work. Says, this imei is not eligible.

      • Same same

    • How do I get IMEI2? *#06# is only showing me one IMEI. I don't have the box with me.

Can anyone see both IMEI through the software?

      • Add 18 to your IMEI1. If you look at online photo's of the box, IMEI2 is IMEI1+18

        • +1

          Mine is +8 … not 18

        • Thanks - Wasn't sure if your comment above was serious.

Are you able to see the 2 IMEI's via software?

      • It's on the box that the pixel 4 came in

        • Why did I get neged? It is on the outside of the box in plain sight!

    • Thanks Mate - Got a second one on its way :)

  • I got my Google Home Hub today, but isn't supposed to be Google Nest Hub? Anyone else got the same?

    • +2

I got mine today too. Same product just re-branding the product line I think.

      • Ok thank you.
