      • How about screen time ? How many hours do you manage with a mix of 4G and Wifi?

        • ive only done one cycle. I think i had 4hours

          • +2

@phocus: Thank You! I love this phone on paper but probably it's not for me =(

  • I did the whole process with an $10 optus sim, got the pixel 4 for $199 then upgraded to the $80 m2m plan. Just got the SMS saying the plan has changed, need to wait for it to show on the site and then i'll cancel it. Also the bonus nest home hub just shipped.

    • nice, can you share your transcript upgrading to the $80 m2m?

  • Thank you op and everyone in chat for a great deal.
Got everything I wanted. switched to MTH/MTH and cancelled alongside the Pixel4xl upgrade for $230 more. Total up $429 (using gift cards) wooo

    • Which store for the XL upgrade if you don't mind?

    • So how did you upgrade? Did you go to another store and ask them to swap for the p4xl?

    • Love to know which store too…

    • Sorry, don't want to say which store. But I just told them I want to upgrade when I went to pick up the order. I think it's safest to do it through the cashiers and try not to get telco/managers involved. Good luck getting your upgrades!

      • +2

Finally got mine upgraded to XL as well, paid $230. Tried 4 stores, until the fifth one! Went to the cashier and told them change of mind and want an XL instead. Lucky the have a stock and yeah swap it over. Not gonna say they store as well so it doesn't get flagged or anything.

        • When you were rejected on the first 4 attempts, what reasons were given?

          • +1

@HGLK: They just said they can't do it, the others are like you need to see the Telco rep, which I didn't bother

            • @mcargy08: One last question. How long did you wait from purchase? Same day?

              • +1

@HGLK: I tried on the same day with different stores, no luck. Finally the following day the last store I went to, it worked

  • Changed to 50 a month plan. Waiting on a confirmation. It said 24 to 48 hours. Deal of the year for sure.

    • how'd you go about it with live chat?

I've tried about 5 times so far, each one stating $390 ETC.

      • I got mine first go but my boss went through about 4 people before he got it. Keep trying i guess.

        • got it on my 8th go

    • Month to month?

      • yeah

  • for anyone who moved to m2m or prepaid before claiming the nest, you can still do the claim, so long as you have the original activated sim and the IMEI1 number.

    • I thought you had to claim after moving to m2m,

I tried doing it while still on the JB65 and it replies me back an error

      • ah, not sure on the actual deal, but it worked for me on prepaid still.

      • I successfully claimed on the JB 65 deal. Texted IMEI1 to 851.

  • I took up the $500 gift card offer last month with mobile #1 which I have now changed to a casual month to month plan (M2M). I want to take up the Pixel offer with another number in my name (mobile #2). Would JB staff be able to tell that I have changed mobile #1 to M2M? And then refuse to port mobile #2 as they can see that mobile#1 is no longer with JB but on Telstra's M2M plan, or would the salesperson rather get the 'new connection' and sale? Has anyone taken advantage of the two offers (with different numbers of course)?

    • Some store will refuse as they can see all your telstra account history. My local store do refuse to do it. I saw some guys got refuse

    • Would JB staff be able to tell that I have changed mobile #1 to M2M?

      Yes

And then refuse to port mobile #2

you will need to ask them, they might refuse to do it

    • yes they can see it, the tech guy showed me all my previous telstra prepaid numbers from past 2 years an it shows when you got them and if they are prepaid or plan, and specifys where you got the plan from. i had to activate some sims for friends visiting from Europe and i did it under my name so they are listed there in the history.

For anyone who wants to change the plan to month-to-month, you can actually do it in "My Account" and from "Plan Details", there's an option "Mobile & Plan Upgraded". From there, you can choose sim-only-plan. On the order page, you shouldn't see any early termination fees applied. So you can safely change it yourself. I just did it whith a Telstra rep walking me through and he confirmed there won't be any fees.

Now I just need to wait for a confimation.

    • How long did you wait from porting to changing m2m?

      • +2

I can see my plan has changed to m2m and it shows "Contract end date: Out of contract". Then it says: "You can change plans again next billing month".

         Plan early termination charge
        $0.00
         Device buy out
        $0.00
        Additional charges may apply

    • This would save lots of time for lots of people, but I'm not sure if the ETC is really waived. Please do report when you have successfully changed to m2m.

    • I would have tried this too,

tried around 8 agents until I finally got one to cooperate

      • That's good news mate! I'll try again today. $50 M2M?

        • first few I tried with $50 but the one I ended up with was $80 M2M

          • @impoze: Did they mention the fee and that they were going to waive?

            • @dockersrule: first bunch of tries, they all mention ETC of $390

the last one I asked about fees, mentioned 'none, just the prorate of the current plan'

              • @impoze: "'none, just the prorate of the current plan'"

If it's prorata doesn't that mean the $390 ETC?

                • @dockersrule: no, just the amount of days you used of the previous plan

                  so like @shapers below,

1/31 days use of $65 plan is $2.0967…

    • Yep, and you get the bonus 5000 Telstra Plus points if you do this way. Squeeze this deal as much as you can! LOL ;)

    • +2

      Thank you.~~

Just change JB/ Telstra 12 months $65 plan to $60 month to month.
I'll give it a go for the first month. If there is no ETC, then I'll move it to $45 or if there is a better deal.

      • When you changed, did they mention an etc charge?

        • Didn't see any ETC.
But need to wait up to 48 hours when the new plan comes up from Telstra account.

          • +1

@notatall: Did you have to enter details for credit check when changing via clothoo method?

Please update when new plan shows, whether it confirms Etc is charged or not. Thanks

            • +1

@Ughhh: I had another credit check. It becomes month to month.

              Plan early termination charge: 0

I used the method provide by clothoo, now my plan becomes 60BG for $60. The contract ends date: Out of contract.
It also shows ' You can change plans again next billing month.'

              • @notatall: Thanks for confirming. I'm still waiting for the confirmation. But looks like it works.

                • +1

@clothoo: I got an email from Telstra with the new order number. But it doesn't show the plan details. However, after checked both Telstra apps and Telstra website/ my account, it shows my plan has been moved from JB 12 months plan to month-to-month 60G with $0 ETC.

                  • @notatall: Can you please give an update when you get one? Interested in doing the exact same thing

    • Is there a way to cancel the plan this way without going to chat?

    • "For anyone who wants to change the plan to month-to-month, you can actually do it in "My Account" and from "Plan Details", there's an option "Mobile & Plan Upgraded". From there, you can choose sim-only-plan. On the order page, you shouldn't see any early termination fees applied. So you can safely change it yourself. Now I just need to wait for a confimation"

A Telstra rep walked me through that too but said that there would be fees.

      • so which plan did you change it to exactly? and this is done in the 24x7 app?
and secondly you mention that the app showed no fees but the dummy rep said there is fees and you just ignored him/her as you could see no fees being applied?

        • I didn't go through with it striker but clothoo did. I've tried 5 times with chat without luck so far.

    • It says "$50 per month added to your account". Am I making an additional service or am I going to get slammed with the ETC or what? I've gone through ten reps and they keep telling me I need to pay ETC. I don’t know how people are changing to MTM.

      • it took me about 8 goes as well, keep trying unless you want to try this method

    • Have you got confirmation Clothoo? Any fees for changing to M2M via your methods online?

      • I did the Clothoo method, my account online changed overnight cannot see any ETC being applied.

I am also wondering if i can change my current telstra contract (Pixel 2 XL JB Hi-FI plan) due to end next March the same way.

That way I could possibly port out and do this again with my current phone number.

        • I tried with the pixel 2 plan, but it wants me to pay the ETC or device buy out fee.

          • @clothoo: Oh at least you can confirm that the ETC comes up on the Pixel 2 plan and it doesn't with your instructions!

            Thanks

    • +1

Thanks man, I did this yesterday and it worked so my contract status was expired.
I went to live chat and got them to cancel my month to month now so my SIM went to SOS only mode.
Now I just got to wait for my first bill to see how it all went down…

      • Did you try the Clothoo method right?
        If so, damn son.
Let us now how it goes with the bill/
I'm waiting on a call from my jb to pick up the phone when in stock still…

        • +2

Yep, fingers crossed my ETC didn't go through but hey, even with the worst case scenario:

          Optus prepaid sim $12
          JB Hi-Fi upfront $199
          Telstra ETC $390
          Telstra 1 month of $65
          Telstra 1 month of $50

The total cost would be: $716 which is waaaay under $1049. I got the Google nest hub thing too so… I reckon it was worth.

          Best case scenario:
          Optus prepaid sim $12
          JB Hi-Fi upfront $199
          Telstra 1 month of $50

So the total cost would be $261, definitely worth a try.

      • get your bill?

        • Finally got my bill, don't want to write down the specifics just in case, but let me just say:
The due date is next month, bill was under $5, and no sign of ETC or anything at the moment!

          • @bobdylan: Thanks for confirming, which means my bill should be coming this week since i only did it a few days after you.

          • @bobdylan: Did it say final bill on it?

            • @chemax: Just read most of the posts on here, nope unfortunately my bill didn't say it was the final bill. In fact it says "your new Telstra bill is attached" so I guess that "final" bill everyone is talking about is what's important.

Will update when I receive another bill and/or the final bill.

    • You are a genius. Worked perfectly. Thank you!!!

    • Would love a confirmation when you get one. Interested in following your footsteps

      • +1

I didn't get confirmation via email or SMS. But when I log into my Telstra account I can see the plan has been changed to m2m. See details in my above comment.

    • I ended up doing this yesterday after getting my pixel in the afternoon - gave up after trying live chat twice and changed plans myself. If I get charged an ETC, I'll argue it off. It's pretty clear from the order tracker that the contract cancellation fee is waived

        • +3

Pop your 1- order number in at https://www.my.telstra.com.au/myaccount/track-my-order

If you don't have it, you should have a 'Your plan details on a page' email after changing the plan.

The attached PDF with the CIS has your order number in it - you want the 1- number up to the _

          Eg: 1-XXXXXXXXX_MOSCXXXX-25062019.pdf

          • @b3au: Thanks BeauGiles. I can see the details in the order tracker now.

    • did u get confirmation?

      • Yes, I can see the plan been changed.

        • -1

You caused me to take this deal and now i cant wriggle out of it… 😑

          • +2

@Seedy seed: You're an adult, I'm sure you knew what you were getting into when you entered a legal contract with Telstra/JB.

    • Click on "View contract details" before you go to "Mobile & plan upgrades", you will see "Plan early termination charge $384.65"!

      • Wish i saw this this morning 🤣🤣🤣

  • -2

how does the google nest offer work & when does it finish?

    thanks

    • +1

Send the IMEI number to 851 from the Telstra network. It will send you the redemption code for the Nest Hub.

      • That's what I've been trying to do but no dice

Did it on 65JB plan as well as M2M plan same.

Have double checked the IMEI too

        • Looks like your IMEI has already been used up? Maybe someone at JB got hold of the IMEI and claimed it? or did you do the same mistake as me, I tried sending IMEIs for 2 phones from the same telstra number, it worked for first one, but seems like it forfeited the second one and resent me the same code as the first one, the second time around… Now that IMEI for the second phone wouldn't work even when tried from a different telstra number.

          • @batrarobin: FYI - I did the same thing but when second the second IMEI through a second time from the other Telstra number it worked fine and sent me a unique code. Both redeemed.

            • @AaronR: Yes i tried again and it worked this time around.

        • Sorry just read in your other comments that you have been getting some error in reply to the SMS. What does the error say?

          • @batrarobin: Hi mate, seems like I did the same mistake…
Have you tried anything to fix it?

            • +1

@rickyricardo6: Hey ricky, tried again just now from the second Telstra Sim and it worked this time around !!!!!

        • Probably already claimed? Just saying

      • +1

@batrarobin thanks for your help.. unlike the other 3 useless morons that negged my comment rather than answering the question

  • Has anyone actually managed to move down to a M2M plan then cancel without paying out an ETC?

    • once you move to M2M, it's out of contract and pre-paid so you might as well use up the month before porting out.

      • +3

        Yep!
I used the method provide by clothoo, now my plan becomes 60BG for $60. The contract ends date: Out of contract.
It also shows ' You can change plans again next billing month.'

So, I can't see ETC in the bill, and I'll save this page as the evidence.

  • SO why are people getting some success changing when it clearly states a contract end date and ETC, is it just telstra staff not checking / caring?

    • if you need to ask …

      • I'm new at this lol

    • +2

Basically since Telstra introducing their m2m plan, they offer to waive all ETC if user move from 1 year Telstra BYO plan to their m2m. The loophole is that most Telstra staff think JB plan is the same like their 1 year BYO plan(these plan never give you any gift card but the data was actually cheaper) , so they do not know the value of the Gift card/credit that we receive from JB-hifi which is why lots of people can get away with it.

  • can't seem to get the nest hub offer to go through,

tried before and after moving to M2M and get the same error message.

    Live chat can't help either
