  • Finally got the SMS. Been waiting since 3pm Thursday.

    • Same and pretty much same time

      • I've been waiting since Thursday about 5:30…still waiting. >:(

      • And just got the activation email and switched sims. Finally! Now to go back to JB tomorrow to pick up the Pixel.

    • Just got the SMS too for verification, been waiting since 12pm Thu. Hopefully it will get activated soon.

  • Got my SMS! Been waiting since 9am Thursday. My identity has been verified and they'll "let me know" when the transfer is complete. Oh dear.

    • I called Telstra about this and apparently after this verification, we have to wait up to 24 hrs again, Hopefully not.

      • Mine was done within 25 minutes, could have been a fluke though.

        • +1

          Got mine, too… Hurray~~
          Going to JB tomorrow~~

      • I'm all ported over now, super fast! Will pick up phone in AM.

  • Cancelled my contract and porting of Optus prepaid sim online with Telstra chat (had been waiting on the SMS since Thursday).
Recontracted at JBHifi with Vodafone sim and everything went through while I was instore.
    Got the Nest hub ordered.
First chat with Telstra 24x7 chat and they happily moved me onto the $50 month to month plan.
Haven't opened the Pixel 4 box yet because when I was playing with the P4 in the JB store today, I really felt that the phone was too small for me.
Anyone moved down from an XL sized phone to this? Thoughts?

    • Damn, should have just done this.. Ah well.. committed now to getting the port finished.

  • Tried a few different JB's and not getting anything on upgrading to an XL after purchase.. running out of time and only really wanting the XL

    • I nearly got upgraded to xl. Store rep was very cluey and said it's not exactly how it should be done, but could be.
Manager knocked it back at the finish line because the IMEI is allocated to your contract you start and as such cant be returned "as new"..

      • Same.. both times store rep went to go see if a return and upgrade could be done and both times came back negative.. Jealous of those who got through. might try it once more.

      • I'm thinking of returning my Pixel 4, wonder if I can get the full RRP back 😁

        • You will only get the $199 that you said. It has been discussed about before.

  • Just got 2 texts for the ports I did on 23rd and 24th from Optus. It took a while but now all good :)

    • +1

you shifty bugger, you got 2? which and which?

      • +1

I had 2 Optus numbers expiring on December so the first one I got $500 gift card and 2nd got the orange Pixel 4 :)

Will use the gc to pay the $199. I ordered the Google Hub last week when I asked to see the IMEI of the phone JB is keeping for me. All thanks to @randomdude who mentioned it :D

  • Anyone manage to change to the JB $45pm from the pixel JB$65/pm deal?

    • +1

someone mentioned a store rep said you could do it a month later

  • Could i get TRS off this purchase even if there's gift card applied? It says GST included is $90.82

    • +1

Yes you'll be able to get a GST refund if you travel within 60 days of purchase.

They also take into account depreciation, widely reported to be 20%. So A $1049 phone will be worth $839 which is under the threshold unless other items are being brought in as well.

That only works if you're travelling with family members.

        Hi,
Do you have any resources about this $900?
I called TRS last week for this, but TRS couldn’t locate the limited tax-free goods.
        Thank you.

        • Did you click on that ABF link above?

  • how long do you have to wait to get a promo code for google nest? I texted to 851 and no reply

    • +1

I got mine within a minute.

    • +1

      About 3 seconds

    • do i have to send sms using pixel 4 ? i was using other phone not on pixel 4

      • +1

No, as long as the correct sim is in the phone and you're using the IMEI1 from the box

        • +2

oh it has to be on new sim card. gotcha . i was using my other number. Thx

          • @triplenet: It doesn't have to be a new sim.
The text needs to go from Telstra number (doesn't matter old or new) to 851 with IMEI details.

            • @masterash: Although I tried to do both (got myself and wife a phone) on my SIM and it generated the same code for the second order I made. Haven't bothered trying on wife's SIM yet but just a word of caution.

              • @andyman1908: Man, I tried the same.. I did the mistake of sending 2 IMEI from the same number.. It sent me the same code twice… I think this (profanity) up the chance for the 2nd phone…so when I try to send the IMEI for 2nd phone from the other Telstra number, it doesn't return anything.

Let me know how you go with sending it from your wife's sim, the chances are that you stuffed it up, same as me :(

                • @batrarobin: Batraji, do tell how the battery life is on the Pixel :)

                  • +1

@alterego13: Sir I am going to trade my Pixel 4 for a Pixel 4 XL for the same reason i.e. battery.. The Pixel 4 has 2800mAh battery while the XL has 3700mAh. While I haven't tried the Pixel 4 yet but I think I am going to eventually go for 4 XL for bigger battery.

                    • +1

                      @batrarobin: Sounds fair!
                      Good luck doing swapsies!
I just signed up on the S10e after contemplating on P4. Battery (not by a huge margin) and wide angle swayed me over.

  • Just got knocked back upgrading to an $80 M2M plan.

They said that moving from JB over to Telstra casual plan will cost me a JB pay out fee.

    • How can JB charge you?
      Have you "upgraded" anyway?

      • No, figured I would try a different rep.

  • Got my bonus nest delivered this morning.

  • Anyone managed to get the esim working on Pixel 4? Is there any extra charges for using esim with Telstra?

    • yes i did. Walked in to a local Telstra store and asked for changing to e-sim. Store rep asked for my ph number, ID check and he setup an e-sim. I then used the below steps to scan the QR code and download the e-sim to the phone.
      Settings -> Network & Internet -> "+" Mobile Network -> "Don't have SIM card" -> "Checking network info…" -> camera automatically fired-up to scan the given QR code;

That's it, done and dusted in couple of minutes. That makes the phone dual sim as well, i can put in a physical sim in the sim-tray from any provider.

Edit: No charges for switching over to e-sim.

    • My SIM didn't work after the port finally went through. I went back to JB to do a SIM swap and asked them to swap to an eSIM instead. The guy did it no problems.

  • Is there a way to go about cancelling the month to month contract via the online portal or app? I can't seem to find the option(s)

    • -1

You just port out I think

  • For those who canceled their MTM, do you have to do it via live chat as well? Finally my account is showing MTM on Telstra web, , but clicking on contract details and canceling it, the only option I have is to contact Live Chat.

    • Update: I've just asked Live Chat to change from MTM to prepaid (2GB 7day expiry) and let it deactivate itself. No ETC or any charges according to the agent

      • Thats what I did… Asides from the peanut cancelling the wrong postpaid number and thus me losing my other jbhifi data bonuses & discount, all worked out okay so far.

I'm now on 1 prepaid and 1 month to month small plan with a 5 dollar discount for their stuff up.

        • Yeah, I received an estimate and it will cost me $28 all up for the plan change from JB $65 to $50 MTM to prepaid. Now the wait for the first bill :)

Im trying to upgrade to XL, but having no luck at all. Worst case, I'll just stick to Pixel 4 for now. I currently have an XL from Google and returning it. I really like the size of it.

          • @mcargy08: They won't (and shouldn't) do it. The deal is linked to the IMEI, which is signed out to that contract.

The few people who did get the upgrade were as a result of operator error

            • @lethalmoney: Yeah I know, lucky them :)
I'll try one more time and if it doesn't work, oh well, this is still a good deal!

  • Anyone managed to swap to M2M recently? Having no luck….

    • Interested to find out also.

      • Just picking up deal now so going to try live chat once I get back home

    • +1

I did this yesterday afternoon, at first try with Live Chat

      • $50 or $80 M2M? What was your strategy?

        • +1

See my comments above, to $50 and now prepaid

    Hi
Just text IMEI1 to 651 , received Promocode and a personal link to Google store , and nest hub ordered successfully .

    • Is this for preorders only?

      • +1

This is for getting a promocode for Google Nest Hub if you have the Pixel 4

      • Sorry just back from work , this is the pixel 4 I've got at JB hifi on last Sat , $199 upfront and $65/month for 12 months , check email Google store dispatch , it is on the way .

    • it's meant to be 851 right?

I just tried and got 'Oops! We've had a problem issuing you a code..'

might be because the service has just been activated, not even showing in mytelsta yet

      • I'm getting the same 'Ooops' message. Have you had any luck getting the code yet?

  • +4

JB just called and said that I can't pickup the pixel 4 (which was transferred from another store) because I already cancelled my contract. I should have waited until I received the phone before doing this! Oh well.

I'll have to go in later this week to get a refund.

    • concerned. Which store/location is this JB Hifi?

    • +1

      ROFL

    • +2

LOL you are just too impatient

      • I really am lol. Oh well.

        • How long have you waited for it since they ordered it in?

          • @ThePriceIsNotRight: I waited a few hours after they told me they would get it sent in before cancelling the service.

            • @joshptyltd: I also waited a few hours after paying for the phone (waiting for the phone to get transferred) to cancel the plan, have you picked up the phone yet?

        • +1

Have you checked with Telstra Live Chat?
I was told by JB that it shows cancellation on their system. I checked with Telstra Live Chat and saved the message.
Took it back to JB with the SMS from the porting team.

Finally paid the phone and walked off the store.

          • @notatall: What did you check with the Telstra live chat?

            • +1

@ThePriceIsNotRight: I asked them regarding any message relate to cancel the plan about it under my account/ Telstra system. They told me there is no message about it.

              • @notatall: So did you cancel the plan before going in to JB, then got told it was cancelled? What message did you show the JB team, was it that the plan was not cancelled?

                • +2

@ThePriceIsNotRight: I didn't cancel the plan. I am OP, and very happy with this deal. :-)

The JB manager called me yesterday and asked about it. I told the manager that I am waiting for my SMS and getting the new phone. My Optus plan is going to expired soon. I am happy to stay 12 months with JB/ Telstra and pay $199 for Pixel 4. Why would I want to cancel it?? JB or Telstra might make a mistake for putting the wrong message under my contract/ account.

                  • +1

@notatall: JB: "Did you cancel your plan?"
                    OP: "notatall!"

                    me slides away

I'm going to keep the plan too since I need the mobile data… Nbn still not in my area

          • @notatall: There's nothing for me to check. I actually cancelled the service.

            • @joshptyltd: What store was this? And had you fully left telstra or were still on MTM?

              • @kyzahh: Don't really want to say just incase. I had fully left Telstra. When I log onto the Telstra mobile accounts page, it says I have no accounts now. I should have stayed on the mtm

                • @joshptyltd: Same having the same thoughts, should stuck with month to month but that's saying in hind sight, hopefully we still get the phones and not the refund

                  • @ThePriceIsNotRight: Hi, just wondering have you picked up the phone successfully?

                    • @LLOzBargain: I was able to pick up it up, was very worrying because they would potentially know i cancelled however, i picked it up before they could properly processed my 2 phones through the system
I couldve been very lucky idk

  • Anyone who's been using the Pixel 4 can comment on battery life after a few days of usage?

    • +1

Doesn't seem amazing. I think im prob getting on par with my pixel 2.

However, I did about 1.5 hours astrophotography with it last night and it only feel by 20% surprisingly
