          • @snvl: @snvl - they just refused to do that without paying out the new pixel contract. Any ideas? Pm if need be :)

            • @lethalmoney: that wasn't what you asked. i said it was possible.

If you don't want to pay ETC you need to keep trying until you find a rep that does it without the $389 termination fee

    • I did this yesterday with Telstra.

My old plan had expired as well so no issues there too.

      1) Asked live chat to shut down my old plan.
      2) Asked live chat to replace new mobile number with old one.

It took her 30 minutes to do it.

  • +1

anyone that haven't received the sms cancelled yet? Telstra said you can cancel since it hasn't being ported. not sure JB will agree.

  • Ok guys, please help me out with this one:

My existing contract with Telstra was ending in 3 weeks time (21st Nov). I asked their Chat team if I could port out now without having to pay ETC and they confirmed 'yes' as long as I pay my normal $59 bill till the date of my contract expiry (3 weeks).

Anyhow, after getting this confirmation, I went ahead and ported out to Optus on Saturday. I went to JB Hifi yesterday and asked for this deal but they obviously figured out straight away that I have only ported out of Telstra only yesterday and asked me to wait 30 days if I wanted to bring my existing number.

Now obviously I do not want to wait 30 days so my question is:

    (1) How to do go about getting this deal. Can I just get a new number for now and later on switch old number on the new contract? Is it even possible?

    (2) Would I have to wait 30 days before I could request to apply my exising number on the new contract?

Try your luck at another JB.

    • +1

did they use the computer or call telstra? find a store that calls telstra to do the porting and not hop on the computer

      • They used the computer to figure out. I'd try another JB around lunchtime.

      • +1

Thanks man for your help. So I went into another store, their main computer was busy so the guy jumped on the phone to Telstra and started the process.. everything was smooth sailing. Ported over , got the phone, claimed the Nest Hub. All done.

Next challenge is to change to month to month .. :)

The rep told me to that some stores can port without asking anything. Those stores usually have low sales compared to others and are desperate.

  • Ha anyone tried to port today and successful?

    • Nope. I have been on hold to Telstra ports (1800 631 334) for 20 minutes and still waiting……

      • Ported in at JB Hi-Fi took only couple of minutes

      • Was waiting 90 minutes and gave up.

        • waited since 10:16am to connect to the porting team. No luck at all.

          • @notatall: 10:16-13:00???

            • @aussiefied: I'm in QLD, so from 10:16-12:00

              • @notatall: I gave up waiting. Got a call from JB Hifi though, they were really apologetic, even though it's not their fault. I've found their staff lovely to deal with so far.

Have sent Telstra a complaint, hoping it quickens things up.

    • been waiting since friday, just been to jb and got sent back saying they will follow up with telstra and will call me back

    • +1

Update on this, I just did a port from Optus prepaid, went smoothly this time. Took about 10mins.

    • +1

Yes, from Optus reseller and within 5 mins. Walked out of store for 30 metres, lost reception, turned back, walked back in and picked up phone…

  • I have an existing number with telstra that I want to keep. If I buy a prepaid SIM to get this deal, is it easy to swap the number I want to keep with the port-in number that I dont care about?

    • I just tried without success, see below

      • So to get your old number across they want to charge you a ETC on the Pixel 4 contract?

        • Thats what they are saying currently

        • Yes I did online Chat with Telstra. They said you can't swap your old number with the new number (Pixel 4 contract). Once the contract is activated with new number, you have to keep that new number for 12 months or pay the ETC.

          • @batrarobin: I did the same online chat with them and they advised that there will be no ETC Charges to swap it over. I'm going to give it a shot now, at least I have the transcript to fall back on in the event that they want to charge me the ETC.

    • Yes. As I wrote above, just get someone on Telstra Live Chat who understands what you're trying to do and they can get it done within 30 mins.

Tried 24x7 to change to $50 m2m - reply was

"as per checking on the mobile, it's under JB Hi Fi, that once it was upgrade or change to another plan like the $50 month to month, there will be an early termination charge, because of the JBHiFI gift card."

Have other people had that message and then being successful,or has Telstra cottoned on?

Furthermore, i have a second telstra byo plan on my preferred mobile number (out of contract), telstra wont let that number take over my new plan and said to do it, id have to pay ETC on new plan. Kinda annoying for a technicality.

    • -3

Try "upgrading" to the $80 m2m, then cancel that.

    • Did you tell them that it was a JB deal?

      • If so, tell them the same thing but tell em to move you to 80 mtm

        • I didn't tell them squat, must be hidden in notes or a memo has gone around to try bluff? Got it moved to 50m2m second attempt.

  • +2

Looks like your plan for 04xxxxxxxx has expired
    Plan early termination charge $0.00
    Device buy out $0.00

Lucky to get it done in the first go about 5 min ago.
    Cheers everyone

        Yesterday 11am Perth time

    • 50 month to month???

      • Yes

        • Are you staying with the $50 per month or cancelling? If cancelling do you get charged for the $50?

    • How long did it take for them to switch you over to the M2M plan once requested? Thanks.

      • +1

        About 7 to 10 min

        • How did you phrase it? They keep saying there's an etc fee

  • Does JBHF and Telstra offer these kinds of discounts every year? I'm currently on $50 month to month and curious as to when I should cancel and move temporarily to boost so I can be fully prepared for the next discount lol

    • Boost uses Telstra network, so you won't be eligible for these deals.

      • Oh, gotcha, temporarily move to optus/voda/amaysim then :)

  • +1

I just finished the whole process using a $2 dollar prepaid optus sim with $10 voucher from coles, purchased the Samsung S10e for $99 dollars, port-in took only a couple of minutes and the first online Telstra chat stated no termination charge when upgraded to $80 month to month large plan, just need to cancel the plan now. Save all the transcripts in case

    • If this works that means you get the phone for $280? plus a month's usage? That's nuts

      • if you go through more than 1 telstra rep who mentions the termination charge, they will try and use that as being warned…

      • Got the phone for $99 + $2 + $10 and without the plan so no month's usage

  • hey guys u can check your porting order via https://www.my.telstra.com.au/myaccount/track-my-order
    my still says "Delayed
We're sorry, but your order has been delayed. We're working on completing it as soon as we can. We'll contact you if we need more information."

    • Mines on pending.

    • +1

Sorry, we've hit some difficulties in completing your order. As we may need to resubmit it, please check your email for a new order number. If you haven't received one please call 132200. Fml

      • I’m in the same situation. Went to JB and they told me that it’s a system problem and they’ll just resend my details to Telstra. What happened to yours?

    • I called up telstra to check the order and the agent told me my order is cancelled due to some incorrect information received.
then i went bk to jb and was told it is not cancelled. They also called telstra to confirm that. I have just checked with your link and it says its in progress. Jb guys said telstra told them weekends are not considered in that 24~48 hour window. its business days only.

The issue has been going on for a long time now. The second rate analysts who made this system should no longer be employed.

  • Were people able to set up their telstra online account easily? Mine is showing as no account so don't know how much lag there is?

So am i right that i should ask for an upgrade to the $80 plan if they will waive the ETC? Then i can just cancel? Or some people have the easier route to go to a $50 month to month plan? Is this all done via the chat?

    • +5

dummies like you are screwing up the whole deal for everyone, read the whole comments dont ask questions that have already been answered a few times, stop asking directly about 'etc waive', ease on into it, lube your entry first..

      • Hardly screwing it up for people when i haven't spoken a word to telstra yet but ok.

  • also secondly - does anyone recommend an insurance policy which is maybe $100 which cover accidental loss/ damage?

  • plan was ported over and checking the web browser looked and says out of contract, clicked cancel plan and it mentioned this

"If you have an Accessory Repayment option, or have redeem a Telstra New Phone Feeling add-on, are on a Lease plan or if you received a bonus when you signed up, you may need to pay additional costs associated with those too."

-edit- upon speaking to them, the 'agent' stated "i can see you signed up to JB hifi today and only a few hours later did a plan change to Telstra". i terminated the chat.

    • " i terminated the chat."

      lmao

  • I just got an email from Telstra telling me about my new plan etc but still haven't got the text message.

    • lmao same

      • Same here. But the order detail shows 'Delayed'.

        • Mine says in progress, estimated completion date the 24th of October. Okay then.

    • The new month to month plan or JB Hi-fi plan?

      • The JB plan
I'm still waiting for the port to go through

  • same, just got the email as well, looking good, this usually mean its going through in the new hour or so

    • No, I think even people who managed to port just got the email.

      • Yeah i was able to port on saturday. Got the email today too.

        • +1

Yep, was afraid it would be a generic timed email. Absolutely useless.

  • so despite successfully moving from the JB plan to the M2M plan with confirmation of no ETC, and the contract details now stating the same:
    '
Looks like your plan for 040xxxxxxx has expired
    Plan early termination charge$0.00
    Device buy out$0.00
    Additional charges may apply
    '

went through chat and they said i had previously (first 24x7 chat) being advised of ETC costs and cancelling the month to month would still be breaking the JB hifi 12 month contract (riiight?)

    • so you saying that they are now going to charge you $390?

      • i didnt proceed, but that was their intention, despite moving to a month to month plan.

im actually happy to keep the damn plan, i just want to use my old (telstra) number. they will not do that without terminating the new plan first and so far are indicating full payout required.

        • but your online account says otherwise…what are they looking at that you cant see

          • @thehulk1969: Notes that reps add every time you talk with them. It's all logged to their system

            • @lethalmoney: so how are people getting different responses from reps to switching if notes are there for them to read? If you/they have clearly articulated no ETC's and you have agreed to this, as they ask you to do in the chat, how can they "change their mind". Surely the last chat that you have agreed to takes precedence.

              • @thehulk1969: luck of the draw of who you speak to maybe? i'll try again later.

                • +1

@lethalmoney: Try again and save that chat transcript.

I’ve got two transcripts - one when I moved from JB plan to m2m and second when I moved from m2m to prepaid

Both chats confirm no fees in the changes made

Both my attempts worked first go without hassle

                  • @thewhitetower: ive got the transcript sayting no fees when i went from JB to M2M, im getting pushback for cancelling my plan altogether from M2M
(purely so i can use my original number and not have two accounts, im not trying to screw T$ really).

i'll make mention of having the chat transcript

                    • @lethalmoney: Just do what I did…take this new number to prepaid and forget about it….don’t recharge for 6 months and the number gets disabled….stick your old sim in the P4 and you’re a winner

That’s what I did, as I have no use for the new number

It’s obvious that some Telstra agents don’t like to hear the word ‘cancel’ so you may get a better outcome this way

                      • @thewhitetower: Telstra Live Chat team told me to do it.
Its' JB said no to this idea…
                        Bloody JB.

                    • +1

@lethalmoney: ) im not trying to screw T$ really

                      Lol

                      • @snvl: I'm going to continue a contract that I don't have to out of good will….
I'd be just following the deal as offered, however I'm trying to get my existing mobile number on a current plan.

                      • @snvl: i had a good chuckle on that one too

                  • @thewhitetower: Did you go for the $50 M2M or $80?

  • Finally got the phone ported.
I have done SMS to 851 with IMEI but no reply. Can it be possible that someone has already used it. Box is sealed
Tried Telstra chat for month to month - No luck twic. You are on JB Hifi contract and will have to pay $390. I think they have caught it.

    • Finally got the phone ported.

How long were you waiting? Did you do anything to move it along?

      • Since yesterday. I was with Lebara. They stuffed up the port request. Contacted them and they sorted it.

  • +1

I've managed to change to $50 MTM plan on first chat with no ETC.

    • first try wit live chat?

      • +1

Yep, told them I wanna upgrade. I have multiple services in one account, mobile and internet. They upgraded the one I just port in to month to month with no ETC. Asked multiple times and she said yes, no ETC. I have a reference number if in case they don't honour it

        • So when did you got the text say you move to new m2m plan? I saw my data has changed but the plan still shows 65byo

          • @sssssam: Its just delayed, if you use desktop browser, it shows up on the website quicker.

            • @lethalmoney: Yeeees! So i can just port to any other mobile company without any problem right?

              • @sssssam: Shouldn't have an issue, if you have logs to support no fees
