      put it this way
      uber takes 30% give or take on all sales,

      so if the shop sells $100 worth of food via uber eats, they make $30 for doing very little,

      customers can call up the shop and order pickup

      30% for doing nothing, is a license to print money
      so why wouldnt uber offer it?
      and thats why I realised when today i logged in to the pickup feature, I realised so many restaurants, werent offering it

      If people understood the amount of fees uber charged, they may stop using it. especially the pickup feature

      in hospitality, 30% essentially wipes out any profit on food,

        also, a lot of shops don't have an online ordering and payment system,
        so Uber creates that online platform for them, and restaurants now, have a wider audience.

        some people would order for delivery,
        some like to do pick-up.

        Food joints then have less wastage of food/workers, if they can anticipate demand,
        but Uber does eat into (no pun intended) a hefty portion of the restaurant's takings.

        ( Uber also then can build a profile of the restaurant's cashflow, items for sale, the patronage,
        and also the customer's spending habits, what they eat/drink, etc. )

    used the pickup code for scheduled pickup today, worked fine,

    now when I look up my upcoming orders, the order says
    "order scheulded Fri, Nov 4pm-4:30pm
    Deliver to my address"

    the recipet says Delivery fee: $0.00

    how do I check if its going to be delivered or not?

      I did this earlier in the week. From what I can tell, the shop has no idea theres a scheduled order. Uber just sends the order to them just prior to 4pm. I would call up right on 4pm and confirm they have your order

    I just spent almost 30 minutes trying to figure this out with multiple configurations. It said coupon applied at the front but then when I added to cart and about to checkout, it just had the normal price on. What a waste of time!

      Are you definitely ordering for pickup? And did you press apply on the coupon at checkout?

        Yes I applied it and when I returned to the main page it had a green banner confirming code was active. Am I choosing pickup? I selected meet me outside. There was no other option so I'm not sure if that's correct. Do all restaurants offer pickup?

          The banner only means that you redeemed the coupon. On the main page in the app, you should should "Delivery" and "Pickup" as two different options, you'll need to select the Pickup option and it'll give you a range of restaurants that offer this feature in your area (this is a new option, so you might need to update your app to see it if you don't currently).

          Then select what you want and add it to the cart and check out, in the checkout, go to "Promotions" and select the promotion you want and apply it (it doesn't automatically apply), and then it will give you the discount.

          You need to make sure you select pickup (which is pickup at the restaurant) to get the discount.

      yeah same thing with me, I couldnt get it to work. I could add the promotion without a problem but I couldnt apply it, it said it was added but the price was not discounted.

      Yes the same thing happened to me, I was actually charged but didn't pick up my items as I didn't get any notification (I spent more than the coupon).

    I thought it didn't work because I got charged the full price but I rang up and that is only pending price and apparently I will be charged discounted amount after pickup, but there's only one place in my city that accepts uber pickup…

    Why the (profanity) would you do uber eats to pick up an order thats just adding in an unnecessary middle man and then everyone loses.

    A colleague just told me her account was banned from processing an order because they called her out for faking a "missing delivery" report too many times. Thought that was hilarious.

        Not sure why I was neged but I'll live.

        Anyway, naturally I would've used the codes for delivery if a free delivery promo was available. In 3 of the 4 orders it wasn't so I picked up.
